ITunes won't sync w/ iPod: 'Unknown error (-69)'

I tried to manually back up my itunes by moving the files to my external hard drive, but then when I did a disk cleanup and defrag, they all vanished from my itunes! I found them and manually dragged all the folders back into itunes, but when I went to sync my ipod, it said it was a new library, so it needed to erase and re-sync. I did that, but it only put about 1400 of my 4800 songs on there, before saying, 'an unknown error has occured (-69).' It then disconnected the iPod from the computer.
I've tried restarting and reconnecting things multiple times, same error result. I've also tried playing some of the songs that won't copy in itunes, and they play fine. I know I probably did something wrong in the way I moved the files around, but how can I fix it? Thanks!!!

Ok, so the three corrupt songs were all ones I had legally downloaded from iTunes...all ones that were $.99 when purchased and are now $1.29...hmm, that's convenient for iTunes. But anyway, the problem I posted is solved, so thank you!!!

  • ITunes won't sync but iPod working...?

I downloaded the most recent iTunes and tried to sync my iPod (an 80 gig with video, fyi). iTunes said it needed to restore, that the iPod was corrupt, etc.; I did as it said and waited for the iPod to restart... just to have iTunes say it needed to restore again. After repeating the process a few times I unplugged the iPod and found that it was asking for a language and that it showed the menu options and the games worked, but because it had been restored there was no music on it. Now iTunes won't sync it but the iPod itself is turning on and doesn't show any music (except for, you know, the lack of music.)
It is important to know, I guess, that my iPod hasn't been working perfectly lately; she's been freezing up, won't play some songs, working sluggishly... Last night she was particularly diifficult and after restarting a few times refused to play more than one or two songs (before freezing.)
I can't think of any time I've dropped her from anymore than a few inches off whatever surface, and every time she was in her case so I doubt that had anything to do with it...
Can anyone help? I thought it might just be a problem with the new iTunes so I don't want to send her in for service just yet, but the sooner she's fixed, the better.
Thank you ver much in advance!

    Hi there,
Have you tried the 5 R's that Apple recommend trying?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303940
It sounds like you could do with going through them - make sure that you have the very latest iTunes software before starting.
    I hope this helps.

  • My ipod won't sync because of "unknown error 13019" Help!!

What does unknown error 13019 mean?

Check out this Apple article -> iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Try disabling automatic syncing of the iPod from iTunes preferences. Also, take a look at what's syncing to the iPod when you see the error and try to uncheck that to see if the error stops. There might be a bad file in that group of content.

  • ITunes won't sync with iPod Classic

    Hi Helpful people,
Sorry to ask the same question as a lot of others but nothing seems to be working.
    I have a 60GB iPod classic and I'm running iTunes 10.6.1.7
    iTunes detects my iPod device.
In the iPod summary I have open iTunes when iPod is connected ticjed and sync only ticked songs and videos ticked.
I have tried sync'ing like this and with both unticked.
I have triied sync'ing from this page and also the File drop down.
The best I have achieved so for is it saying it is sync'ing but I don't get the usual message at the top of sync'ing 1 of 5226 or whatever that I used to.
    Any tips from cyberspace?

  • ITunes won't sync with ipod classic, keeps asking for authorization

I have a brand new Macbook Air. I transfered my iTunes library from my old mac to the new one. However, some songs weren't on the old computer, they were only on the iPod classic.
When I try to sync the iPod classic, it tells me 539 songs aren't on the new computer, should it sync? I say yes. Then it says that the computer is no longer authorized. I fill in the authorization with the correct userid and password (it comes prefilled with a very strange userid that I've never seen before.)
It tries to sync, then I get the same message, that the computer is no longer authorized.
I'm assuming there's a certificate or cookie some place that's out of wack -- can you tell me where it is and I can go delete it?
    Thanks
PS. I was able to successfully sync my iPod Nano to the new computer without this issue at all. Then again, it didn't have any songs on it that weren't already on the new computer. I haven't tried syncing my iPod Mini to the new computer yet.

  • ITunes will not sync to ipod - no error msgs / new laptop

I have a new laptop and have just downloaded itunes and connected my ipod. First, after the download, I get a message that 110 of my songs can not be loaded onto my computer as they are not authroized to play o this computer. I review the songs listed in the message and say OK.
I purchased a song, resorted a playlist, and clicked sync.
When sync was complete, all of the music and files were wiped clean off of my ipod. And syncing does nothing.
My library in Itunes is in tact and everything appears to be fine. I authorized the new laptop on my account and tried again. Still nothing.
I have checked all of the sync settings on the device. I have tried to sync individual playlists. I have played music directly from itunes to make sure no error messages would appear.
Mystery. Can someone please help me understand where I am going wrong?
    THANK YOU!
    Windows   Windows XP Pro

Heya. It sounds like you may have multiple iTunes accounts, and not all the songs were authorized for each account when you transferred things over to your new laptop.
To figure out which account you used to purchase a particular item, follow these steps:
    1) Control-click (or right-click) the item in your iTunes Library.
    2) Choose Get Info from the menu that appears.
    3) Click the Summary tab.
Also note that when an account name is edited, the items purchased before the transition occurred will still list the original account name, but will need the new account name and password to be entered in order for the purchases to be authorized to play.
Once you've confirmed the authorizations, you should be able to sync things fine to your iPod.
Let me know how this works out =)

My IPOD will not SYNC to ITUNES in Microsoft 8

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • ITunes Won't Sync with iPod Touch

Since migrating to my new iMac my old iPod Touch would not sync with iTunes. After following the articles on reinstalling the mobile device support I found that the iPod would only sync with iTunes once before it was necessary to reinstall again. Not very helpful.
Anyway, the solution is here! Run software update, as there is an iPhone SDK patch ready and waiting for you. Downloaded and restarted the iMac, and hey presto we have an iPod again, hoorah.

Bingo! Worked for me too (running Software Update and installing the iPhone SDK update).
I'm also staggered that this isn't explicitly mentioned as a likely fix in the general troubleshooting page for this connection problem on this site. As someone who diligently -- but manually -- downloads all patches and updates, I never use Software Update, and yet I could not find the iPhone SDK update available to download manually.
Background: my 2nd gen iPod Touch refused to be recognised by iTunes after upgrading my machine to Snow Leopard. iPod recognised by iPhoto and in iTunes on another Mac. Tried every troubleshooting item on the list at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747
Notice that the suggestion to try Software Update is way down the list and is easy to disregard if you prefer to update your machine manually, as I do.
Given the number of users with this problem (I've read through dozens of posts looking for a fix for a good three weeks now) you'd think someone at Apple would reorder the troubleshooting list or at least highlight this option. Hopefully anyone else with this issue will stumble upon this thread, as I did, and get a happy result.

  • ITunes won't sync with ipod clickwheel (windows xp)

Yes, this is yet another problem happening right after updating to the new itunes. Everything seems to be working just fine on iTunes and the 'pod, but when it syncs, nothing happens. it just says the normal ipod updating message for about 5 seconds, then does says ipod updated. The problem is that I keep checking my ipod afterwards, and it hasn't actually updated anything. what a liar!

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.
    Strange iPod behaviour.

  • TS2529 Itunes won't sync with Ipod in Windows 7 64bit

I have Windows 7 64bit Pro.  I have an Apple Ipod Touch 3G.  I have the latest 10.6 iTunes software 32bit version.  (64 bit version too unstable.)  I plug my Ipod Touch into computer, I hear the "beep" that my computer recognizes it's plugged in, but iTunes doesn't recognize it nor will it sync with it.  I can't force it to sync in the iTunes menu under "File" either.

    Try here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I think you may have to use the 64 bit version.
