ITunes won't transfer certain songs from iPhone

I recently got a new desktop computer and downloaded iTunes. I synced my iPhone all up and then realized only about 600/800 of my songs were actually imported to my iTunes library before I checked "Sync Music" on my iPhone through iTunes. So I manually selected "Transfer purchases" but all it did was download all the iTunes-purchased songs, rather than all of my songs from my iPhone to iTunes library. I realized that most (if not all) of the songs that hadn't been transferred to my iTunes were externally purchased items (songs from CDs or direct files from my computer). I can't find any posts or articles on how to fix this, but there must be a way to accomplish this. It really shouldn't be necessary to re-download and import 200+ songs into my library from CDs and files (which would involve finding out and going through each and every song that hadn't transferred to iTunes from my phone) when they should already be there. If I check sync music, that means iTunes will erase all the songs on my phone and replace them with the ones in the iTunes library (which I also hate). iTunes should transfer all files when you sync your iPhone because that is the exact purpose of iTunes, not just manage Apple-bought items specifically. I really want to fix this ASAP so my phone can be synced up. Thanks.

  • ITunes won't load the songs from purchased music CDs

When loading purchased music CDs, the CD loads but iTunes won't load the songs.  Error message:  "The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for the file."  I'm using an iMac PPC G4 with 768 MB RAM and OS 10.4.11 with iTunes 4.7.1. If I copy the songs into a folder I can push them into the iTunes library but these are huge AIFF files with no info and the machine can't (won't) transfer them into AAC files.

To what format are you trying to convert? What settings are you using?  Has this just started or is this the first time trying this?  I really don't know what the limitations are for iTunes 4.7.  I thought I was being a luddite in sticking with 7.5....
Try an alternative ripper such as XLD or Max.

  • Apple TV Won't airplay certain songs from Macbook with itunes 11

I have a MBPro running Mountain Lion and itunes 11. My apple TV is second generation with the latest software. When I am airplaying music to my apple TV it works just fine, but randomly it will stop at the beginning of certain songs and won't skip to the next song or play the song it is on. It just stays at 0:00. What is strange is I have a Philips Fidelio that airplays the same songs just fine. Also, the songs play fine when I use my computer speakers. It is just when I am airplaying to apple TV and just for certain songs. I even tried deleting and redownloading the songs from itunes match, and the problem persists. I have looked everywhere for an answer but haven't found anything.

Go into Itunes, turn on home sharing.
Verify your Airplay icon in your menu bar

  • IPod Won't Play Certain Songs From iTunes

I just downloaded some songs from iTunes. I can play them on my computer, but when I try to play them on my iPod it just automatically goes to the next song and will not play it. I have never had this happen before. Any ideas?

Same here. I have an iPod Photo with the latest firmware installed (1.2). I can no longer play any music on my iPod that I've purchased from the iTunes Music Store since upgrading to iTunes 6. Songs purchased prior to upgrading iTunes work fine on my iPod. All songs play fine on my computer.
The two workarounds that I know of are to restore your ipod to factory settings, which I'm not willing to do just yet since it will erase everything on it.
The other workaround is to burn your purchased music to a CD and reimport it. Then move the reimpoted songs to your iPod. That has worked for me so far.
I'm hoping Apple will release some sort of software/firmware upgrade to either iTunes or iPod that resolves this problem.

  • Missing music, iPod won't transfer certain songs.

I just recently recovered my computer from a hard disk wipe and I was able to get all my purchased songs from the iTunes store off the iPod, but I'm still missing a good 900+ songs that were added by me through other means. If there a way to get all of these songs off the iPod and back on to the library on my computer?

The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • Itunes won't download 1 song from a cd

I have a Cd, Relapse, by Eminem. Itunes downloaded ALL the first 19 of the 20 songs perfectly, and I synced them to my iPhone and iPod Touch, but the last song, Underground, won't download from the cd at all, not on the computer, or any of the devices. The Cd does not have even 1 scratch, it's perfect. Is there a way to fix this, or get the song from iTunes for free instead? Any help is appreciated!

Yes, any tips out there for increasing the likelihood of iTunes Match actually recognizing my music?
Out of about 7000 songs of mine iTunes match only recognized about 2800, and wants to upload the rest.  I've stopped it from doing that because of the big draws of iTunes match was the ability to get higher quality versions of most of my library.  A 40% success rate is not very good.
When I check the iTunes store, the songs and albums that it says it cannot match are clearly there.  I'm not talking about obscure artists, but folks like the Beatles, the Beastie Boys,James Brown (just to name some of the B's).
So, any tips as to how to increase the likelihood that iTunes Match will actually, um, match, most of the songs in my library?
All my ID3 tags are pretty well in order, and iTunes can recognize my songs to provide album art, so why can't it recognize them for Match (I know it uses different matching algorithums for each, but they should bot be equally successful).
If I cannot get this to work, I am going to demand my money back.

  • So annoyed. iTunes won't authorize CERTAIN songs after upgrading computer.

Ok, so I recently upgrading my computer from a Macbook OS X to a Macbook Pro and now it seems that I can't authorize certain songs, I have two accounts: my current account, and my old account, which is the one that I can't authorize. I've tried everything from re-downloading iTunes, to deleting the SC folder, but to no avail.
The thing that really annoys me, is that when it asks me to authorize the song, it tells me "this computer is already authorized" Ok, good, it's authorized, but then I go to play the song again, it tells me again that my computer isn't authorized! It's like a vicious cycle that never ceases to annoy me. So in short, my computer lets me play some songs from my old itunes account, but won't let me authorize others. Help, please, is there anything I'm missing or doing wrong?

  • Mystery of why itunes won't play certain songs - quicktime plays them fine

    symptoms:
most of my songs play normally.
the songs that don't play do show up normally in itunes playlist. when i try to play them, however, itunes skips over them immediately and moves on to the next file in the playlist.
this is not a standard "file not found"-type of error. no error message appears. the songs do NOT get a little grey exclamation on them afterwards.
after being skipped, the last played date and play count of the song file is updated in my library as though itunes thinks it played the song normally.
if right-click on the song in itunes and say "show sound file", the file is visible in the finder. if i view a preview in the finder, i CAN PLAY THE FILE FROM THE FINDER PREVIEW window, which makes this whole situation very odd.
i can also open the files and play them in quicktime player.app. they play fine.
the songs in question seem to be mostly old (~5 yrs) files that were encoded in a very old version of itunes (before it was called itunes) called soundjam. still i am pretty sure they are valid mp3 files. i'm quite sure that i have played them with itunes in the past, though i am not sure how long it has been since i last played them - perhaps a few years.
somehow it appears that the standard quicktime player for mp3 files is perfectly happy with this files, yet there is something about them that itunes does not like.
the files have relatively low bitrates (they are digitized versions of old cassette tapes). at least some of them (perhaps all) show in itunes as being encoded with SoundJam 2.6.2, and having variable bit rate.
i am using the latest version of itunes on mac os 10.4.6.
    any suggestions?

so i think you understand that i was upset to find out that they had become unplayable/unconvertable in itunes.
Yes, I do understand. I have a few recordings of family members who died a few decades ago. They're still on tape and I want to digitize them before the magnetic particles "all point to the magnetic poles again".
I'm still in doubt in which format to store them however.
I digitized most of my old vinyl to AIFF and then converted them to Apple Lossless to save HD space.
The costs of large capacity disks have decreased over the years, so I'm thinking to leave the digitized recordings in AIFF format.
This format looks to last for at least a few decades (I hope).
I remember when old data on some type of punchcards (is this correct English?) had to be converted to go in the computer age.
The machines to read them already had been demolished, so they had to build a new one :/

  • ITunes won't download all songs from a purchased CD

I'm a choral singer and put a lot of music I'm going to sing on my iPod and then use it to study scores. I just tried to (manually) add 4 "songs" from a purchased CD. The first two came out fine. The third one stopped recording about a minute before the end, and the 4th is no where to be found. Can anyone help. I've tried deleting everything from that CD, rebooting and trying again - with no success. I've only once had a similar problem - and then the whole CD wouldn't download. I hope someone out there can help me. Thanks.

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Cannot transfer new songs from iPhone to iTunes.

After switching to iCloud my iPhone automatically created a new Playlist and all new songs purchased on my iPhone were downloaded into that new Playlist.  Now that entire Playlist is not syncing into my iTunes on my PC.  I tried "Transfer Purchases", "sync", etc.  What to do?

Have you installed the iCloud control panel on your computer (assuming that you have a Windows computer)?
This iCloud functionality may be missing from your pc/iTunes, no?

  • ITunes won't sync certain photos from same roll to iPhone.

Okay here is the deal. Sometimes after importing photos from the iphone's camera roll, iphoto crashes during the process of deleting the images off the iphone. It usually happens halfway through deleting, so there will be a few photos left on the camera roll that have already been imported. I then manually delete those images from the phone.
Whenever I program itunes to sync the last 6 months of photos from iphoto to my iphone, it ALWAYS leaves out the images that I had to delete manually from the phone. This is driving me crazy. It doesnt give any error messages, nothing. It's just seems like business as usual until I get on my phone, go to the photos and see that all the photos aforementioned simply didn't sync.
I go back to iphoto and make sure that the images are there, and they are. I've even gone so far as to take the photos that won't sync, place them in a whole new album and sync. That works. They go into that album and show up on the phone effortlessly. But I can't really do that because there are literally hundred to thousands of photos like that throughout the last 6 months in my iphoto. I don't know which are which.
I have tried deleting the ipod photo cash folder in iphoto, but that didn't work either. It simply resized the last 6 months all over again, synched to phone and STILL left out any photos that were imported into iphoto, but not deleted by due to a crash, and manually deleted from phone by myself.
If anyone could help me with this nightmarish problem, I would be VERY happy.
    Thanks a lot, Luke.
Rest In Peace Mr. Jobs. Thank you for making the world a better place.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • My iTunes won't since certain songs to my iphone due to "errors."  This has happened to several of my songs.  How do I fix this?

I have tried deleting the "error" songs and this works fine...until it finds another song with an error.  What keeps causing my songs to be corrupted and how do I "fix" or "restore" them."
    Thanks!

Can't believe I didn't think of that! Thank you! It actually worked.

  • ITunes sync does not delete songs from iPhone

I've an older iPhone 4 with only 8GB of memory.  (also another iPhone 5s/16G, and iPad/64G and a iPod Classic with 160GB).
The IP4 is always short of memory, so I rotate songs based on a small smart playlist based on "least recently played."
I've NEVER used iTunes Match, or iTunes on the cloud or iTunes Genius, and I've always synced these devices using the same iTunes Library.
Nine albums weren't rotating off the iPhone, so I turned off all music syncs and expected the albums to go away.   They remained.
Adding the albums back to the sync had the strange effect of duplicating all the songs in the album.  Removing the albums left the ghosts behind.
Any suggestions on how to remove these 9 albums / 85 songs?

    Hello there, Jon.
Although the the error message in the title of the following Knowledge Base article may make it seem unrelated to your situation, it addresses issues that arise with orphaned files that may still be on your device:
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • I can't delete certain songs from iPhone ios 7.

They show up on my phone but not in iTunes and I can't delete them. it wont let me swipe and delete them on my phone and it wont let me delete them from iTunes because it doesn't show them on my phone. I don't have show all my music because like most of everyone there are some song I regret purchasing. when I try and turn it on and then back off to make the music come off they're still there....plaese help I honestly can't stand the songs that are stuck on my phone

I have had the same problem and I was able to delete all but one.  The one that won't delete is the one that is currently playing.  It cannot be swipe deleted.  I had another song that I was having a similar problem so I connected to iTunes, synced that song to the phone and then it would let me delete it.  So, I synced the entire album that contains the song that I can't delete.  Doing so allows me to swipe delete all of the songs until it says "No Content".
However, if I select the "Now Playing" in the upper right-hand of the screen, the song is still playing and when I go back to the Songs list it is back like David F@#king Copperfield with no option to delete it.
I don't want any music on my phone (that's why I have an iPod) because every time I get in my car and the phone connects to the radio it starts playing over Bluetooth audio automatically.

  • ITunes Match removed all existing songs from iPhone

Be careful. I now have 14G free on my iPhone! All my previously synced music (3032 songs) is gone! I have just the 167 songs I have bought from iTunes!
    Watch out!

A bunch of MacWorld advice suggested that it would leave the tunes on there that were there already.
