Itunes won't uninstall OR reinstall

Okay, so I was having problems with my computer awhile ago and deleted things I wasn't using and ran the recovery. Thought everything was fine until I tried to open itunes and it said that the action was only valid on installed programs. So I went to the website and tried to reinstall iTunes and got an error saying that previous versions couldn't be deleted. So I went into my Control Panel and tried to completely uninstall it, and it gave me a message saying " The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailabe."
Now the really weird part...I went and did a complete search of my computer for iTunes and it seems that i have 2 versions installed (although only 1 pops up in my add/remove programs) and found a way to open one of them, and it works just fine. But am I going to be able to update it?
Please help me figure it out! I would really just like to delete it all and then reinstall the whole iTunes package, but it will not let me uninstall iTunes.
Thanks

With those ones, let's try the following procedure.
First, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. If it goes, good. If it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to iTunes.
Next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. Use it to clear any existing iTunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC. (Launch Windows Installer CleanUp, find any iTunes and/or QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.)

Next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of any leftover iTunes and QuickTime program files:

Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? If so, does iTunes launch for you?

  • Today, I got a "update iTunes and tonight, I can't access my iTunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the error message reads: iTunesexe-unable to locate component. App has failed to start due to MSVCR80.dll was not found: Reinstall may fix" but hasn't.

I received an iTunes update today and updates files. Tonight, I couldn't acces my iTunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still getting same error message: iTunes exe unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.  I've done it several times and still get the error.  I'm fearful I have lost all my music.  What can I do?

    - Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? iOS 6 requires 10.5 or later. The current is 10.6.3
    - Have you tried a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - You could try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore the iPod. However, if you can't restore the iPod or use this program to get the iPod out of recovery mode

Suddenly unable to connect to iTunes, after it worked fine for years. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Tried other steps, as recommended by tech support. No luck.

Sounds like it could be your computer and not Apple. Sounds like some registry issues and/or other underlying problems.
What are your computer specs? Year? Manufacturer? RAM? Processor (type & speed, # of cores), OS (32 bit? 64 bit? Professional? Standard?)

  • Itunes wont update, uninstall or reinstall

so everything was fine, i had my iphone 4s and my sony vaoi laptop and then one day it tells me to update my itunes. so thats what i did, it was running the install and then a error came up saying that 'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that it unavailable' then underneath it gave me the option to go browse for where it was. it seemed to have disappeared only when the installation came about because when i quit it i found it in the exact same place that i looked when it gave me the option to 'browse'. for a month this was going on and i tried to fix it every time it offered me the installation but then it said my iphone couldnt connect to itunes anymore because itunes is not updated but how the heck do they expect me to upddate it when it just disappears?! i havent been able to update music on my phone anymore which is very annoying because that is one of the main reasons i got my iphone4s. then i looked up my problem on the internet and this person gave me a link and said uninstall itunes and reinstall it. it was called 'revo pro uninstaller' i thought it was going to work because it said it had uninstall everything to do with apple so i shut down my laptop to leave it rest. i opened it up the following day and there apple was again. for days i tried to uninstall everything to do with apple but it just wont go away. the same message as  'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that it unavailable' then underneath it gave me the option to go browse for where it was' and then it said 'the older version of itunes wont uninstall please contact your technical support group' when i tried to uninstall it or reinstall it on my laptop. to be honest apple, samsung are looking alot of a heck better. i have never been so annoyed with a company in my life. please get your act together.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • ITunes won't open and reinstalling doesn't help

Each time I try to open iTunes, I get the following error:
"The folder 'iTunes' cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is in the 'My Music' folder."
I have tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, but I always get the same message when I try to open it. I had been using it without any problems for the past year, but last month this issue began and I'm not sure why.
Also, I keep my music files on my external drive, but iTunes is installed on my computer. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

    Try rebuilding the library:

  • ITunes won't uninstall or open

When I click on iTunes, this error message pops up "iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes." When I try to install it, it will go through the whole process but it still does not open. When I try to uninstall iTunes, it will not let me fully uninstall it. Does this mean something is wrong with my computer?
      Windows XP

I have the same problem on my own computer. I wish someone would respond to this with answers lol. It's very frustrating.

  • Itunes won't open or reinstall

When I try to open Itunes it says it can't because some of the needed files are missing, please reinstall. When I try to reinstall or uninstall, it says the feature I'm trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable . . . enter a new path the the folder containing the installation package 'itunes.msi'
I don't know where that is and in a search it doesn't come up.
Is there a way out of this

it says the feature I'm trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable . . . enter a new path the the folder containing the installation package 'itunes.msi'
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try reinstalling iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time? If so, are you able to launch iTunes without the error message?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Anyone getting the error message- windows error 127? It keeps coming up everytime I try to open iTunes- even after uninstalling and reinstalling.

I updated my iTunes on my laptop and when I tried to open it, it continues to say some link in missing and Windows Error message 127. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, but the same message appears. Has anyone dealt with this before and know how I can fix it?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • HT1923 my iphone is not showing in itune i have uninstall and reinstall itune without result.

    Dear friends,
Sorry to take your time. Two days ago I started having a problem with my laptop which is a Hp g70 with windows vista. My screen suddenly became black and the colors were distorted. I managed to sort it out with Aero glass a software (windows) . Each time I open Itune I get this problem, each time i use aero to clear it out. I noticed also that itune has stop recognising my iphone. I have changed ports, uninstall, reinstall itune nothing happened. I have run a scan and it came out that there is a software missing that itune is not properly installed. I have repair the installation but nothing good. When i open itune my screen just changes color and i can't see nor read anything. It's funny Itune do detect my ipod but no my iphone. Please anyone has got an idea to share or might had the same problem in the past. I want to delete itune from my pc but so that my pc runs ok. But without itune your iphone and ipod are dead.

  • ITunes Must Be Uninstalled Then Reinstalled?

I recently tried getting the new version of iTunes and Quicktime and after restarting my computer, iTunes would no longer open. A message came up saying I must uninstall and then reinstall iTunes in order to open and use it. If I uninstall iTunes, will my music be saved or will everything be deleted from my library? Wouldn't have gotten the upgrade if I knew how much trouble it was going to cause...

    Bbopkitty44 wrote:

Uninstalling iTunes does not delete your music.
However, the fact that you ask may indicate that you have not made a backup in a while. Do that first.
