ITunes won't update iPhone

When I click "Restore" I get the message "Software for this iPhone is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again." I have the latest version of iTunes!

You need iTunes 10.1 to install iOS 4.2.1.

Are you using the correct cables.  iPod cables look similar, but are not, as they are 1.1 USB cables, where your iPhone and iPad require a 2.0 USB cable.
Also, make sure you are not plugging your USB cable into a Hub or keyboard USB port, but one directly on the computer.
You may want to reset the USB ports, by resetting the SMC and PRAM

  • My iTunes Won't update apps

My iTunes Won't update apps when i click check update it say"your iTunes library is up-to date"
awhen i check update From iPhone the it update all apps which are out dated

It sounds like you've already done the things that would fix most  iPhones.
You can try restoring your iPhone.
If that doesn't do it, try contacting Apple through Express Lane. They may be able to gather some aditional logs and pinpoint the exact problem.

My iTunes won't update on my computer. I have windows vista. I can open up itunes and when I click on "check for updates" it asks if I want to download iTunes version 11.1.5 and I click "Download iTunes" but then nothing happens. Sometimes uptop the loading bar will appear but for only a split second. I have tried restarting, shutting down, I cannot figure out why it won't download. What's happening and how do I fix it?

Try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

  • ITunes won't update, unistall or re-install.

iTunes won't update or unistall. When I try, it says the installer source doesn't exist. When I tried to just reinstall it fresh, it says the old versions of Bonjour, iTunes and Quicktime can't be removed. Any solution for any of this?

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeksare worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunes, QuickTime and Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Itunes won't update, ipod unusable without it

I have an ipod touch. I have been really good about keeping my itunes up to date. The last version I updated to was early this year. It keeps telling me I need to update but that it failed to update after download and that I need to manually install.
I plugged my ipod in and it asked me to update the ipod software so I did. Then it tells me that the ipod won't work unless I have the 10.0.1. But when I go to itunes and download itunes 10.0.1 it downloads but won't install and tells me I have an invalid drive F:/. I don't even have a drive F. I can't use my ipod now, I turn it on and I have the picture of the ipod being plugged into itunes. But itunes won't update. Nothing online or in any thread I have found has given me a solution. I am very frustrated. Is there anything I can do? Or do I need to uninstall itunes and lose all my music and apps?

I just put a flash drive into a USB port and then it started the install and when it asked where I wanted to put it I changed it from drive F to C.

  • My itunes won't update; therefore, I can't sync my music to iphone

When I open itunes, a message pops up that there is an updated version and asks me if I want to download it.  I click download, the message disappears, and then nothing.  I currently have version 11.04.4.  When I try to sync my iphone with itunes, it tells me it won't do it because it requires version 11.1 or higher.  I have tried going to apple.com and clicking the download for the itunes update, but that doesn't seem to work either.  It says I downloaded it, but as far as I can tell, I didn't because I keep getting the same message in itunes that an updated version of itunes is available and asks me if I want to download it.  I have checked to see if my pop-up blocker is too sensitive.  As far as I can tell, it's set on "low."  I am not computer savvy at all.  Can someone please help?

I realize this is a dumb question, but as I said, I am not computer savvy.  After the download was complete, no pop-up box occurred prompting the install, so as you said, I clicked on start to try to search for the download of it.  What do I look for to find the download of the new itunes version?  I am embarrassed to be so dumb about this and appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

  • Updated 2.2.1 - Now iTunes won't recognize iPhone (and iPhone won't work)

I had this happen last time I did an update too, but that was fixed by going into my control panel and starting my apple mobile device - I checked and this time all is running. I can't use my iPhone and iTunes won't show it's connected even though it is (so can't restore, etc. since it won't recognize the device). I've tried closing out of iTunes and re-connecting the phone - nothing. I'm on PC using 2003 Microsoft software.
    Thanks for any insight.

Sorry, gave the wrong PC info. I'm on XP Professional, version 2002, service pack 3.
    Please help!

  • ITunes won't update apps on iPhone

    Hi there,
I have iTunes 10 and an iPhone 3GS. The iTunes 10 is on a Mac Mini with Snow Leopard fitted. Just recently, the apps showing on iTunes no longer reflect the apps installed on the iPhone nor the screens in which they are loacted. Also when I try to download apps from iTunes to the iPhone, it won't transfer them I've tried restoring the phone from a backup, I've installed 4.2 (which may be the source of the problem ?) but none of them have worked yet.
Does anyone have any ideas ?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Have you contacted iTunes support ? If not then you can do so via this page (these are user-to-user forums, and I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • ITunes won't update my iOS because it needs 610mb free on my iPhone - but it also shows 825mb free at the same time

I have never had much success using iTunes to manage my iPhone 5 ....it seems to hate it.
It's crazy - iTunes says it needs 610 mb free and there is 825mb free showing in the summary
On my phone it says it is a 957mb download - and needs 4.7gb of free space
Am I the only one who has these problems ?

The 610 MB number is the space it needs AFTER installation. But in order to do the installation, it needs a lot more free space. In fact, you should try to run your phone with at least 1 GB of free space at all times. The phone will be happier to install new music/apps if you do so.
But I'm sure that's not going to be easy—16 GB is very small. Since music is taking up so much space, consider buying iTunes Match. That will allow you to reduce the amount of actual stuff on your phone without losing access to any of your music.
As for deleting apps, check your phone to see which are the big offenders. Go to Settings --> Usage --> Manage Storage and you'll see how much space each app is taking. Perhaps there are one or two big ones that can be easily removed and reinstalled. Or maybe you have a lot of messages you no longer need.

  • My itunes won't update. It's looking for 10.6.0.40. Last time it tried to update, I downloaded the msi to my desktop and I deleted it within the last six months. Now I can't uninstall or update.

The last time my iTunes couldn't update. I used support from Itunes and downloaded it my desktop. My mistake. Because without thinking, I deleted it within the last six months from my desktop, without thinking I'd need it later. For the past month I've needed to update my Itunes and it can't find the msi. Now, my Ipad, my kids' ipod touches and my iphone can't update. Especially the ipod touches, iphone and work ipad have already updated to the OS6. And, now they won't work with this outdated iTunes. Help.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
