ITunes won't update songs!

Okay so I'm in Germany right now, originally from Canada, and I have my Ipod from home. I have iTunes at home, and I downloaded it here as well, but everytime I try to update new songs from this library.. it says it's already linked to another iTunes music library, and asks if I want to change the link and replace all existing songs with the ones from this new library. Is the ANY way to get around it?

My iTunes won't update on my computer. I have windows vista. I can open up itunes and when I click on "check for updates" it asks if I want to download iTunes version 11.1.5 and I click "Download iTunes" but then nothing happens. Sometimes uptop the loading bar will appear but for only a split second. I have tried restarting, shutting down, I cannot figure out why it won't download. What's happening and how do I fix it?

Try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

  • ITunes won't update, unistall or re-install.

iTunes won't update or unistall. When I try, it says the installer source doesn't exist. When I tried to just reinstall it fresh, it says the old versions of Bonjour, iTunes and Quicktime can't be removed. Any solution for any of this?

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeksare worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunes, QuickTime and Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Itunes won't update, ipod unusable without it

I have an ipod touch. I have been really good about keeping my itunes up to date. The last version I updated to was early this year. It keeps telling me I need to update but that it failed to update after download and that I need to manually install.
I plugged my ipod in and it asked me to update the ipod software so I did. Then it tells me that the ipod won't work unless I have the 10.0.1. But when I go to itunes and download itunes 10.0.1 it downloads but won't install and tells me I have an invalid drive F:/. I don't even have a drive F. I can't use my ipod now, I turn it on and I have the picture of the ipod being plugged into itunes. But itunes won't update. Nothing online or in any thread I have found has given me a solution. I am very frustrated. Is there anything I can do? Or do I need to uninstall itunes and lose all my music and apps?

I just put a flash drive into a USB port and then it started the install and when it asked where I wanted to put it I changed it from drive F to C.

  • My iTunes Won't update apps

My iTunes Won't update apps when i click check update it say"your iTunes library is up-to date"
awhen i check update From iPhone the it update all apps which are out dated

It sounds like you've already done the things that would fix most  iPhones.
You can try restoring your iPhone.
If that doesn't do it, try contacting Apple through Express Lane. They may be able to gather some aditional logs and pinpoint the exact problem.

Doublechecking. Is it saying that the itunes64.msi can't be found?

  • ITunes won't play songs after update

I updated to 11.1.4 today. I had to restart Apple Mobile Devices and Bonjour to get my pc to see my iPhone and my Time Capsule respectively. However, if I open iTunes and click on a song to play, it stays stuck at 0:00 and won't play. If I move the slide bar to jump in the middle of a song, it stays stuck where I moved it to without playing. Any ideas?

It may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • ITunes won't update the songs on my iPod

I have a 20G iPod, purchased in Nov. 2004. For the last several months, the iTunes software has been slow to recognize the iPod and start automatically updating songs (it often took several minutes), but until recently it eventually recognized the iPod and went ahead with the update. Around October, the iPod started to freeze frequently when connected to iTunes, but I was able to solve the problem by resetting it. After resetting, the songs on the iPod would update successfully.
But when I tried to update the iPod after letting it sit unused from mid-December to mid-January, the real trouble started. I tried to do an automatic update and the iPod froze. I reset it and tried again, but the same thing happened. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and updated the iPod software, but the problem didn't go away. So, I restored the iPod.
At first, this seemed to make things worse. The iPod wasn't recognized by Windows. I solved this problem, but I don't remember exactly how...I managed to get Windows to recognize the iPod somehow, then had to follow the instructions in the Apple website's article entitled "iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes" in order to get iTunes to recognize the iPod.
I thought this had solved the problem -- the iPod connected to iTunes and appeared to be updating normally. But when it said that it was finished updating, only a couple of Podcasts had been transferred to the iPod. None of my songs were there, and most of of the Podcasts weren't either. I tried updating again and noticed that although it said it was updating, the songs just went from being qued (with the little grey round waiting-to-be-transferred symbol to the left of the song title) straight to supposedly being on the iPod. None of the songs ever had the little orange round in-the-process-of-transferring symbol next to them.
I tried clearing all of the songs in iTunes and then adding them into the library again, but that didn't do anything. I don't know what else to try. I'm very, very frustrated at this point. Does anyone else have some experience with a problem like this?

Thank you both for the suggestions.
I plugged the iPod into my computer this afternoon and opened iTunes. iTunes gave me an error that I haven’t seen before – it said “iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod “Kathleen’s”. Use the iPod software updater application to restore the iPod to factory settings.” I ignored the advice, closed iTunes, and tried the fix suggested in the page linked to by b noir (that is, reassigning the drive letter). I then opened iTunes again, and I got the same message. I then tried resetting the iPod, which was saying “Do Not Disconnect” continuously, unplugging it, and restarting the computer.
When the computer started up again, I plugged in the iPod, then opened iTunes. I then let it sit there and “think” for a few minutes. The iPod said “Do Not Disconnect”, and after a while iTunes came up with an error message. The window was called “Device Timeout”, and it said “The requested operation on \Device\Harddisk1\DR3 was not completed before the time-out period expired.” Cancel, try again, and continue were my options. I chose cancel. Then iTunes gave me the “iTunes cannot read the contents...restore the iPod” message again. So, I restored the iPod, figuring the combination of reassigning the drive letter and restoring the unit might do the trick. After restoration, iTunes recognized the iPod again (that is, it didn’t give me an error message), and started pretending to update the songs on it, but none of the songs actually went onto the unit (i.e., I had the same problem as before).
I’m not sure how to try Mary Beth’s suggested fix, as I haven’t got any playlists except the ones automatically generated by iTunes (90s music, Top 25 played, etc). Is there anything else I can try?

  • HELP! Shuffle won't update songs

I have been trying to update my shuffle song list but it won't let me. The shuffle recharges and plays ok but won't let me change the song list. I have uninstalled and restalled the IPod & Itunes but that doesn't fix it. Has any one else had this problem and fixed it?

You're not the only one. My son's shuffle is now completely useless- NOTHING will help in anything I have found. He has no songs and no ability for itunes to put anything on it. Try explaining that there's nothing to be done about it (short of buying a CD player and just burning CDs-how 90s!) to an 11-year-old who LOVES music.
My own shuffle won't update and itunes shuts down immediately when I click on the shuffle autofill button.
The obvious culprit? The most recent update of iTunes. I think there's a software glitch, and I'm very upset that the people who wrote this stuff didn't check it out before the autoupdater ruined people's enjoyment of their shuffles. Everything was fine before I updated. GRRR!!!

  • Help? iTunes won't update iPod

When I plug in my iPod, iTunes recognizes the iPod and lists it on the column on the left as "Todd's iPod" - but it won't update the songs I have in iTunes onto the iPod. Is there something I can do to manually to make it update?

iTunes 10.2.x requires Mac OS X 10.5.x or later. If you're still running 10.4.11 like you have listed in your profile then you need to upgrade before you can install the newer iTunes.
If you have 10.5.x or later then just uninstall your current version and download the new one from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • ITunes refresh database (updating songs tags)

I've been looking for a solution for ages!!
I have almost 100 000 songs, and I like it clean! So I often spend hours cleaning tags, making sure everything is perfect (Artist, Album, Year, Categories).
I don't want to use the iTunes auto managing thing, because I don't want iTunes to duplicate my songs in his own folder because there's too much to even think about using twice the space needed...
My setup is simple, I have a data partition on my HD and it's F:/Music (Then all artist has his folder, and a folder for albums...)
When I clean my Tags, I have to play the song in iTunes (only 1 second) and it updates the changes I made. But I don't want to click them all to see my changes...
And I don't want to delete/redo my library because I really need the Play Count feature (for my Smart Playlist auto syncing with my iPhone)
So, is there a "refresh database" button somewhere? That won't change nothing but the update the actual tags ?
    Thank you guys!
PS : I know there's other similar answer but it doesn't do what I want to do!

Thank man, your scripts are amazing!
I have one more question about artworks.
I have a very large music library and artworks are taking a lot of place and I'd like to free some space by managing it in a better way.
Actually, I have some artwork managed by iTunes (it creates a folder "Album Artwork") and put the front picture to every song so I can see it if i'm scrolling in iTunes or on my iPhone. It is great but the folder is taking a few GB. iTunes cannot find all the cover (30-40%), so I don't really want to let iTunes manage it. I also have some front cover as a JPG file in the album folder and with my Tag Editor I can add the picture file to the music files and then delete the original JPG files and it keeps showing the artwork without taking a lot of spaces.
My question is : Can I delete all those iTunes files created in the folder
    Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Download\9406062996C08529\00\02\14\9406062996C08529-5C28FB7E1EBD0E20.it c2
Can I simply add my cover myself with my Tag Editor and then delete all the cover related files?
What would you suggest me? (Music library is about 100 000 songs)
I hope my question is clear and makes sense, this is the last thing I need to fix to have my perfect music library.
    Thank for your time buddy!

I did not get an error code just a box came up and said i need to authorize computer, and when i piut in username/password, it says computr is already authorized, ans when i click on the song the same box comes up again.  I have updated Itunes and still no luck.

  • My iTunes won't authorize songs i can't re Donwnload

i recently had the hard drive on my iMac die. lost EVERYTHING. now I'm trying to put all the music on my iPad back onto this new hard drive. one problem, every single piece of data that i didn't download from iTunes won't go into it. it keeps asking me to "authorize my account' when I've already de authorized all devices and re did it all. its just music and stuff that i downloaded or have hard copies of that i don't anymore. so i need a way to get all these songs OFF of the iPad and into my iTunes or at least into the computer. can anyone help me? i just downloaded the newest versions of iTunes and the driver for my iPad, I'm hoping that changes something, though i doubt it will. I'm sure it says in fine print in the user agreement that they don't have to let unlicensed music or files into their program. if thats the case, I'm never buying another apple device as long as i live.
