Itunes wont burn a playlist

For some reason I am getting an error message when I try to burn certain play lists from my iTunes. The message is, "The attempt to burn disk failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media." What is kind of weird is that I just got done burning a disk about 10 min ago. Could it just be that certain songs can't be read by iTunes? Please answer soon. I'm trying to get some CD's made before I make the 6 hour dive home for spring break.

Ok, so I just found out that it was one song that iTunes couldn't burn. When I deleted the song, the disk started burning. Why would one song cause that. Is there any way to prevent that from happening?

  • ITunes wont burn playlist on blank CD

Whenever i insert my CD-R disc, burn a playlist to that disc, it freezes, it comes back with the options for the burning, i pick Maximum Speed, Audio CD, 1 Minute.
    Freezes.

It used to work perfectly fine!!!
    Its not going over capacity

  • Itunes wont burn my CD disc error 4280?

I have a toshiba satellite computer running windows 7 and itunes 11. It wont let me burn my playlist to a disk. Im using memorex CD-R blank cd. I have tried every disc write speed and nothing worked and ran diagnostics everything checks out. Can someone help me?

I tried the same thing on an HP Touchsmart, using Windows 7.  I highlight songs in my iTunes music library and create a new playlist.  I right-click on the playlist and start the burning process.  I am prompted to put a blank disc in the drive, which I do.  Then I have two more prompts, which ask me about the format of the content I wish to create.  Once that's done, the burning starts.
It seems that for every playlist I burn, I ruin one disc.  It seems that either at the beginning or at the end of the burning process that an error occurs and burning is cancelled.  This is very frustrating.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Newest version of iTunes wont burn or sometimes eject cds

    Hello,
Which Mac do you have? And have you checked the drive for any possible problems lately?
Testing and repairing a disk or volume
When you have problems with a disk or volume, use Disk Utility to test and repair it. Disk Utility also reports the S.M.A.R.T. status, which tells you whether your disk has hardware problems that will cause it to fail.
To repair a disk, you need an administrator's password. If you don't have one, ask an administrator to repair the disk with Disk Utility for you.
You can verify your startup disk with Disk Utility, but to repair it, you must start up your computer using another disk. For example, you can use your Mac OS X Install disk.
In addition, you cannot test or repair write-protected disks, nonrecordable CDs or DVDs, or disks with open files.
Close the files and quit the applications on the disk that you want to repair.
Open Disk Utility, and select the disk in the list on the left.
    Click First Aid.
Check the S.M.A.R.T. Status at the bottom of the window. If you can't see the S.M.A.R.T. Status, be sure you selected the hard disk your volume is on, and not the volume itself.
If the S.M.A.R.T. Status is "About to Fail," back up your files on the disk as soon as possible and replace the disk.
If the S.M.A.R.T. Status is "Verified" or "Not supported," click Repair Disk to repair the disk.
If Disk Utility cannot unmount the disk, be sure you have quit any open applications and click Repair Disk again. If it still cannot unmount the disk, repair it just like you would repair a startup disk, by starting your computer from another disk, such as your Mac OS X Install disk.
If Disk Utility tells you to look for links to corrupt files in the DamagedFiles directory, some of those files are overlapping on your hard disk and are likely to be corrupt. Examine the affected files, each of which is listed in Disk Utility's output on a line that begins "Overlapped extent allocation". Most of these files have aliases in the DamagedFiles folder at the top level of the affected disk. If you can replace the file or recreate it, delete it. If it contains necessary information, open it and examine its data to make sure it has not been corrupted.
If Disk Utility cannot repair your disk or reports "The underlying task reported failure," try to repair the disk again. If that doesn't work, back up as much of your data as possible, reformat your disk, reinstall Mac OS X, and restore your backed up data. If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged and need to be replaced. See an authorized Apple dealer for more information.

  • ITunes wont burn all songs in a playlist

I am trying tyo burn a cd from my playlist. I have all the songs selected but when I hit the burn button, several of the songs become unselected and it then burns only the remaining selected songs. There appears to be sufficient space on the CD and I am receiving no error message.

Go to Edit\Prefs\Burning, and see if you're set to 'mp3 cd.' If you are, AAC files will be skipped.

    help

I now have the SAME issue. My sister just started having it on her p.c. about two weeks ago. I've been looking around the 'net, and am finding this is a very common problem, going back sometime now. (Going back to version 4?) I have yet to find a resolution to the problem posted anywhere though. I thought since it was such a common problem I'd find an answer here, but only found more people with issues. Can anyone point me (us) in the right direction? People pay pretty good money for this service, I would expect someone at Apple to step up and offer a solution. Anyone?

  • Itunes wont burn any music....please read

Hey everyone, itunes thinks ALL my CDR's are full. Everytime I try and burn music from my playlist onto a blank cd, my laptop pops the CDR out and says...Please insert a blank disk. It does this with EVERY CDR that I have put in the drive. Any ideas? I have the latest version of itunes. thanks again....please email me directly at [email protected]

Two things worked for me. Both are probably temporary.
    * I re-installed. Worked ok for a couple of days.
    * Easier. I deleted the preferences file. USER/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist. I re-booted. Don't know if that was necessary. Music again. I think it will fail again. Something is corrupting Preferences.
I have used the same technique with other programs; Photoshop and Excel. When a program starts misbehaving, it is sometimes because the Preferences file has become corrupted.
    Good Luck.

  • Itunes wont burn my exported garageband songs

When I export my garageband song to itunes, and try and burn it to disk, a messsege pops up and says " Nothing in this play list can be burned to disk!" what is this about? I've burned other GB songs before.

Seems like we have the same problem. I purchased a G4 and tried to create songs from garage band and exported to iTunes. I can actually burn the cd but won't play in my cd player. Did this ever happen to you? I don't know what I did wrong. This is my first time to use garage band. Have you solved your issue yet? Thanks!

  • ITunes wont burn anything

I am running iTunes 6.0.2 and can not burn anything. I have had this problem since version 5 though. I can put a blank disc in and it goes thru the motions that it is going to burn but never gets past the preparing the disc. Any help at this point would be great.

Well, the latest version of iTunes requires a minimum G3 500 mhz processor. Your system is 400 mhz. So that could be the problem. Quicktime requires a minimum G3 400 mhz, which could explain the sluggishness, as you're right at the line. Newer apps require higher processing power, otherwise, they could present operation problems.
Also running Tiger on your system with 512 RAM can slow everything else down.
Other than that, to perhaps resolve the iTunes burn issue you can try a fresh copy of iTunes and see if that makes a difference. To do so: Remove the existing iTunes application from your system, including the preference files com.apple.iTunes.plist and com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist found in your User Library/Preference folder, and iTunes.pkg and iTunesX.pkg files found in your Main Library/Receipts folder.
Next, download a fresh copy of iTunes from the Apple site. Not sure if that version if 6.0.2. If not, go to software update to upgrade to the latest version. Repair permissions via Disk Utility after you're finished.
Next, you'll have to setup your preferences again. This includes making sure iTunes is pointed to your Music Library (preferences - advance tab>general).
    Post back with results.

  • Itunes wont burn a CD

When ever I try to burn a CD to listen to, it starts to initializing when I click burn disk and then stops. A new window will then pop up saying this......."The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media". Hopefully someone can help me out with this because I have no idea what to do.

Did the cleaning solution work for anyone?
I ran into the same problem on my laptop. I'm using Sony CD-R that I have burned them on tons of different CD drives without any problem. Looks like this is a problem that afflict a certain percentage of Macs out there. So far, Mac's DVD-RW drive has been too **** fragile... a physical eject button would have saved me a lot of grief.
