Itunes says the network connection has timed out
iTunes keeps saying that "iTunes cannot connect to the iTunes store. The network connection has timed out." But it hasn't. Also, i have windows 7 and whenever i open iTunes it kicks me back to an older version of windows. help.
I struggled with this for 2 days and finally got it to update.
I posted a blog with my experience, but the final solutions for me, was to unplug my computer from my wireless router and hard wire it through the cable directly to my DSL modem.
Here's everything I did based on different searches, and some of these items worked for other people. But for me, it took bypassing my wireless router.

"The network connection has timed out" -- HELP!
Ever since i downloaded itunes 7 i have been getting this message whenever i try to access itunes
"Itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The network connection has timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."
I have tried everything that apple has suggested in their help and support pages. I no clue what to do now since my internet is running perfectly fine.
Also whenever i insert a cd into my rom, itunes wont load the album into its interface or recognize that there is even a cd in the rom. I am thinking this is occuring because itunes cant access the internet.
Does anyone have any suggestions? ThanksI had exactly the same problem, and finally found a solution this week. If its the same problem as i had it is to do with your firewalls. I know weveryone on here keeps saying go into control panel, then firewalls and make sure itunes is selected as an exception etc etc. I did all of this and still had the same problem.
My problem laid in other firewall software that had been installed on my PC when i bought it, and not windows firewall. I have EZ Armor installed which is anti-virus and firewall software. I uninstalled the firewall part and everything works fine. I can import music from cds and gracenotes can find the track names, and i can access the itunes store. I am waiting to hear back from Computer Associates who make EZ Armor as to how i can reinstall the fireall and make itunes an exception, as obviously i would prefer to have the firewall protection.
My suggestion is to check your PC for any anti-virus and firewall software that you might not even know you are running, and uninstall it.
Hope this helps -
when downloading ios 5 to my itunes an error message saying "the network connection has timed out" keeps popping up. how do i fix this?
Temporarily dip ****.
And excluding the extremely high network traffic due to the many millions of users downloading the update a day or two after is was released, this is a problem with that swiss cheese for security garbage OS that is Windows only, which is the joke. An update that is now running on 1 in 3 compatible iDevices which is in the 10's of milllions is vaporware Einstein?
If I were your rep, I would tell you to **** off. Go get Windoze mobile devices. -
i am unable to download the update for my ipod.."the network connection has timed out". my internet is working fine, i have the latest iTunes..whats going on?
Temporarily disable/turn off your anti-virus and firewall software and try the download again.

I have tried to update the operating system on my ipad several times without success. Each time it reaches 353.2mb of 353.3mb and starts to process the file. Nothing happens and then I get a message saying the network connection has timed out. The network is still connected.
Have you tried temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software whilst the download is happening ? A number of people on here have had success downloading it after doing so.

i keep getting an error message that states
itunes could not connect to the store. the network connection has timed out.Try temporarily disabling your firewall and see if you are then able to access the iTunes store.

"The network connection has timed out." Answers please?
For the past 2 hours, I have been sitting at this computer trying to authorize my computer and sync my iPod Touch. Try and try as I might, however, I still cannot manage to log in to iTunes. I've looked through 4 other discussions, read the 'Help' bar from head-to-toe, and even changed my Firewall settings, but the same message still keeps popping up. It says, and I quote, "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection timed out." Well, isn't that WONDerful news. If anyone has a valid suggestion beyond iTunes *****, which I know, PLEASE tell me.

The network connection has timed out?
i tried downloading a song last night and it tells me the network connection timed out, so i keep trying but the same thing keeps coming up. HELP!!
Thanks Cathy - glad it worked and hope it continues to work for you. Thanks also for the link to the various comments about OpenDNS - very interesting reading plus useful links to other blogs about the service. On balance it appears to be a reliable and safe service.
The main issue for us is that we can now connect to the Store - the improved speed and phishing features are secondary, but welcome. If any adverse issues do arise with the service, it's easy to revert to previous internet settings.
Hopefully, the current situation with connection problems will soon be resolved by Apple and/or the ISP's (assuming that's where the problem lies) and there will not then be a need to use OpenDNS if we don't wish to or have concerns about it.

Okay, so my friends think it is funny to change the passcode on my iPhone.
Maybe you should get new friends.
I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.
iCloud: Erase your device - Apple Support
This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone. -
IPod Update Error: The network connection has timed out.
I have an iPod Touch second gen and am trying to update it from software version 2.1.1 to 2.2.1. Every time I try to "Download and Install" the new update, it downloads all the way but then an error pops up(picture below). This error also occurs if I try and use the "Download only" option. I have made sure I have iTunes version 8.1.1. I have also uninstalled iTunes completely and reinstalled. This error continues to pop up.
Thanks in advance.i also had this problem, that can happen if you are using the wrong internet. At my house we use a land line so i had to go to my work office and use the wireless. if you research it will tell you that you have to update on a certain internet

I can not dowload the new updated software for my Ipod touch 4G. When i do I get an error message that says Network connection has timed out. I have done the trouble shooting steps. Downloaded the latest version of Itunes, and checked network connection
Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.
