Itunes wont give me music

I bought some music on iTunes during the time when the 6.0 seems to have made stuff funky happen for so many people, me included. Apparently, they debugged it. Six weeks later, I can now load the music store again. So I went to update my ipod with tunes i'd bought tonight, forgetting that I had gotten a couple way back when but hadn't added them to my ipod yet. It won't give me those older tunes, claiming my iPod is not authorized on this computer. but it's never been authorized anywhere else. And it was able to receive the songs i bought tonight. (it was during that synch that i was informed that some songs on my itunes library would not be transferred.) Any ideas?

Hi there. Is this computer you used previously with iTunes or a new one? If it is the same computer that got "disoriented" then this process should sort you out...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
If, in fact, we're looking at a new computer then authorising/signing in doesn't restore all your content. Ideally you would transfer that from your previous system or restore from a backup of it. If this isn't possible see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device which should offer some pointers on how to extract media from any devices that you have and recover any other purchases from your account.

itunes wont see the music on ipod classic

If you can see the songs but they are "greyed out" it's because you have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is also why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable, then you need to change to manage the content manually.

  • Please help, itunes wont give me option to sync from my iphone

I have an iphone 4s and I just downloaded itunes on my hp with windows and the new itunes doesnt give me an option to sync my mnusic library onto my computer from my iphone. ive tried restarting it and unplugging it and they dont give me any options!

iTunes will only transfer music purchased from the iTunes store from your phone to your iTunes library.  To do that, authorize your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music in Store>Authorize This Computer, then connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
Music from other sources on your phone (such as from ripped CDs) must be extracted from your phone using 3rd party software such as Touch Copy (PC or Mac) or PhoneView (Mac only).
If your iTunes library is still on your old computer, the best solution is to copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the music folder) from your old computer to your new one, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.

  • Can I get original files back? Itunes wont sync new music, Help!!

My computer had to be taken to the shop last week and the whole system had to be wiped and recovered. I forgot to tell them there was another file I wanted saved so I lost a lot of my music.
I managed to download the free version of touchcopy and get my music back on to itunes. The music that I lost comes up with a question mark and wont play on itunes but is in ipod and plays fine. Is there anyway I can get the original files of these songs on to my computer as I cant make playlists or anything with these songs?
Also in my ipod a few of the playlists have been screwed up and there are about 5-6 versions of 90s music, recently added etc that have nothing in them. Is there anyway to get rid of them?
My main problem now is that itunes wont sync the new music that Ive just added (it wasnt on the ipod before). When i plug my ipod into my computer itunes tells me "sync is complete" and it also shows up with "do not disconnect" on my computer. How do I sync this music on to my ipod??
Sorry for that incredibly long winded problem, I really hope someone can help me!!

I know that sounds so obvious, but I can't figure out how. There are six folders in the iTunes Media folder. Under advanced preferences there's a box that says iTunes Media Folder location with a "change" or "reset" option. What do I change it to? I tried the reset option, but nothing changed. I was hoping it would magically get all my stuff in order but it didn't. I was scared to try the change option. Most of my library is also in my iPhone and iPad and in the right folders/places and  I'm scared to sync them with my Mac because I don't want them all screwed up. And the syncing through iDisc on my Mac isn't working because it can't find my iTunes Media folder and the six folders/documents in it.
I'd appreciate a step-by-step if possible. Literally. I've been using computers for years and my Mac for a little over a year and never had problems with it until this. I also noticed that several times in iTunes help it says " don't change the folder name or location for iTunes Media." duh. Read that too late.
    Thanks

Heres the thing... it recognizes my ipod, brings up my 'name' for it, shows all the songs and all the movies. It just wont let me play any of them. It wont let me select any to move into playlists. • My  itunes wont play any music!?!?!?!

ok my itunes was working fine then the next day I could not play any music ... I could the day before. (not down loaded from the "music store") off a cd! I tried reinstalling I tunes (newest one) and tried one step down from newest.. both didn't work!! I don't know whats going on?!?!?
    Please help!!

    Dan,
You didn't upgrade iTunes. It was just working and then it stopped working?
When you say it won't play, what happens when you double click on a song in iTunes? Does the little progress bar move at the top middle of the iTunes window? Does the Play button change to a Pause button? Does the play time change?
If you create a second user on your machine, can that user play music in iTunes?

  • Itunes wont sync my music on 5S Apple YOU HAVE A BIG PROBLEM

    Hi,
Apple YOU HAVE A BIG PROBLEM !!!!
Having tried all proposed solutions found in the communities, but none of all didn't work !
I had no problem at all on my previous 4S with IO 7.0.2 , but since last week I get my brand new 5S with IO 7.0.4 & its only a mess to sync all my music on this phone . Latest Itunes is installed on my computer.....
All music albums are on my 5S, but marked with this red circle with a red dot in the middle ...
It's a shame that no solutions works & that Apple didn't react to help all the customers to fix this bug!
I hope that someone @ Apple will read this ....

This may sound like a terrible solution, but have you tried switching the file format to .m4a (itunes default format) on all of your music?
If not, it just might work.

  • ITunes wont find my music on my external drive (when it used to!)

I recently filled my PC's interntal harddrive with music to the point where it was so slow I had to to buy an external drive to keep it on. I tranferred all my music on to the hard drive and have had no problems with it until today.
Today, I started iTunes BEFORE I turned on my external drive meaning that iTunes could not find any of the music in my library.
This was OK at first, as I could just search within my My Music Folder to locate the odd tunes I wanted to export to my iPod.
However, now whenever I select a song from my library (even with the external drive powered up) I have to go and search for each individual file. I get the little exclamation mark next to the track and the following message:
"The song 'XXXXXX' could not be used because the orginal file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
I then have to search My Music folder to find the tune. This is OK once or twice but I dont want to have to do this for 40Gb. HAs anyone else had this problem?
Is there a faster/better way to find my music and get iTunes to locate it without me having to import all the folders again?
BTW my I've just noticed that my I haven't changed my original iTunes folder location from my internal C drive to my external E drive. Will this make any differences?
    Cheers

PC Windows XP SP2 AMD Athlon 2600 Sapphire Radeon x800 pro 256

Hi I did try that as, in the past, that used to work. My harddrive was already powered up so I closed iTunes and then reopened it. But, I had no joy. I noticed that my default path for the itunes folder was for my old C drive so I have changed that to my E drive now. Thanks.
However, I fear I may have made matters worse. I followed advice from elsewhere and have been tampering gulps My new situation is as follows:
I have moved the default iTunes folder to my external (G) drive. I have placed all my music into my iTunes folder on my (G) drive <External HDrive (G:)/My Music/iTunes/>. If I browse these folders I can see all my music files.
I then selected all the music in iTunes with an exclamation mark and cleared it (not to the Recycle Bin!). I was told by a friend that if I then went into iTunes/Edit/Preferences/General and then ticked "Keep iTunes folder organised" iTunes would then find all my music in the iTunes folder.
    However, this has not happened
So, as it stands, I have 40gb of music in my iTunes folder and I would like to see it in iTunes but can't find a way to do this without importing every single folder via the File/Add folder to library option.
If anyone cal tell me how to get my music back into iTunes I will be most appreciative. Thanks
BTW - I am not going to do anything else to those folders until I hear from anyone else just in case I make an even bigger mess of things.

  • Itunes wont give it all

ive purchased an album and in my account it has says i have paid for the full album. However, last night my disk got full and it only downloaded 4 of the songs, i have freed space and it should fit now, but how do i claim all the other songs on the album i have paid for!
if you can, please help, that'd be great

If it only downloaded 4 songs, and then stoped downloading, the rest of the songs should be in a (What I personally call) a "Download Basket" on apples site. To get the rest of the downloads in iTUnes goto the top and hit Advanced then "Check for purchases" it should then start downloading all the songs that did not finish. If you go there and a download does not start you may have to email the music store here http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/download/ (Also check out some of the articals and links at this page)
You may want to invest in a cheap external harddrive that connects to a PC thru a USB port. Here in the US atleast you can get them for about 60 to 100 bucks depending on its size. You can use it to store your music on AND to create backups of pretty much anything you wish, documents, pictures ect ect

  • Itunes wont play old music correctly? HELP!

I just updated to version 8 of iTunes and now it's not playing my old music. I read that it won't play imported mp3s now since apple uses mp4s now. I don't know if this has something to do with it or not - I haven't read much on this topic, so I assume everyone else's is working fine. I download most of my music on Frostwire, and had music on here before I upgraded which worked fine. Now it's playing a choppy, distorted version, which almost sounds like it's playing too fast? All of my purchased music from the iTunes Store works fine - it's just these that won't play correctly. I tried Troubleshooting and using the Support FAQs and stuff. I updated my audio driver, directx, quicktime, everything I could find - and it still won't work. My music otherwise plays fine on my comp - just not on iTunes. HELP!

I'm having the same problem. I found the help article "iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Audio does not play or plays incorrectly" and did everything the article said. It still plays my old songs fast. Does anyone know how to fix this???

  • Itunes wont burn any music....please read

Hey everyone, itunes thinks ALL my CDR's are full. Everytime I try and burn music from my playlist onto a blank cd, my laptop pops the CDR out and says...Please insert a blank disk. It does this with EVERY CDR that I have put in the drive. Any ideas? I have the latest version of itunes. thanks again....please email me directly at [email protected]

Two things worked for me. Both are probably temporary.
    * I re-installed. Worked ok for a couple of days.
    * Easier. I deleted the preferences file. USER/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist. I re-booted. Don't know if that was necessary. Music again. I think it will fail again. Something is corrupting Preferences.
I have used the same technique with other programs; Photoshop and Excel. When a program starts misbehaving, it is sometimes because the Preferences file has become corrupted.
    Good Luck.

  • Itunes wont play imported music

    Hi,
itunes on my Mac will not play my imported music. It was running fine untill I upgraded to 10.5.3 can anyone help please?
When I try to play this message appears
The song “  ” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? when I press yes it cant be found.
Also some music will play that has been imported but the name of the song and the music dont match???
    Thanks

Correct. iTunes for Windows can convert non-DRMed WMA files, but that feature isn't included in the Mac version. You may be able to find a thrid party tool to do the conversion.

  • New iTunes wont access my music files on my external HD

ive tried using the file path on iTunes advanced settings and still no music

will itunes reference the songs on the external drive without importing them?
Open the Advanced section of the iTunes preferences and tell iTunes not to copy them to the iTunes Music folder; once done, drag them into the open iTunes window. Alternatively, you can change the iTunes library location to the external drive.
