ITunes wont install, error 1628!!

ummm, ive read a few of the same questions as i have but havent really gotten an answer. i have recently purchased a ipod nano and everything was going fine. i tried to update itunes after this and was successful. i see that others had the same problem after this(lisence agreement flashes then disappears and doesnt open itunes) and did the same as me, unistall and remove anything to do with itunes and quicktime. now i tried reinstalling itunes from the ipod CD and an error "1628" appeared and stated that it was unable to comeplete the installation. i used search to find anyything to do with itunes and deleted it all, except for 3 files. they are in different locations on my hard drive but have the same name and are not possible to delete because their location cannot be found. ive tried reinstalling the ipod software after deleting all the other files in the search program and still the error 1628 appears. i beleive its because of these three files but i cant delete them... HELP!!!

hi yu!
i see that others had the same problem after this(lisence agreement flashes then disappears and doesnt open itunes)
yuck. if you were getting those symptoms (and no error messages whatsoever) we'd better check on a nasty malware problem that has been going around. see:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1163419#1163419
... and for the MSCONFIG trick referred to earlier in that thread, see:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
(because you don't have itunes installed, you're actually using MSCONFIG to check for weird start-up items that don't turn up any hits when you do a google on them ... the names are randomly generated.)
keep us posted.
love, b

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

  • HELP! ITUNES WONT INSTALL (Error 7/Windows Error 127)

Help! I keep getting Error 7 (Windows Error 127) when I try to install Itunes on my laptop. I read that this error is caused by problems with Apple Application Support. I'm using Windows Vista (32 Bit version) Can anyone please help me fix this??

Follow these instructions to completely remove Apple software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.

  • Itunes wont install, 'error occurred before installation' Tried everything, help!

ok I tried to avoid asking and fix it myself but it just wont work.
I've fully uninstall all parts of itunes, just like it says in the support site here, and in the correct order
I've deleted every bonjour, apple and ipod folder (and/or anything to do with apple) from my computer
    restarted
    failed
    downloaded from internet explorer
    failed
I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I'm at my wits end

Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates cover just about all the possible options and steps for cleaning up a prior iTunes installation before trying to install a new version.  You'll also find links to current and recent versions of iTunes - if you have no success with the current release (12.1.1.4) it may be worth trying the alternative "for older video cards" installer, or rolling back to a previous release.

Ok, Below is what worked for me somewhat.
Okay ... try downloading and saving a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe to your PC from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now download a trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.php
Open the iTunesSetup.exe with WinRAR, and try to run the standalone install of Apple Application Support from the AppleApplicationSupport.msi you find in there.
It works now BUT there are still problems.  It is not allowing or recognizing my Cd/DVD player and i CANT burn.  Looking still for this fix.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

itunes wont install, runtime error R6034 also 'apple mobile device' wont start! help!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Itunes wont install on my laptop?

itunes wont install on my windows 7 (64 bit) laptop i have tried about a 100 times and not working

That's a rarer variation on this sort of problem.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Mobile Device Support entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
