Itunes wont open on my laptop? tried everything!
i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling .. the support help on here and i cant find anything that will open my itunes, no message shows.. just nothing happens! help?
update sorry:
Go to control panel "Uninstall a program" and remove:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
After you have uninstalled all the items listed above go to start menu and click the computer link then open your c drive. After opening the c drive click "organize" on the upper left hand corner and select "folder and search options" then select the "view" tab. Then select the "Show hidden files and folders" and click the apply button and select ok and close.
Open your c drive and open the "users" file and then open the folder containg your selected computer name. After the file opens select the "app data" folder and then the "local" folder and right click and delete all Apple folders you see (itunes, quick time etc) note: these will be replaced upon re instillation. Then open the "temp" file and remove and delete all apple files that may be in the temp file as you did in your "local" folder.
Then download itunes 9 from oldapps.com/itunes and install. Once installed you can open itunes and update from there

Itunes still wont open! I've tried everything.
I need help!
I have downloaded and installed the new itunes which just wont open. It comes up with the hourglass... then nothing (if I go to my task manager it says itunes is running.. it definitely isnt!). I have tried uninstalling itunes, installing standalone quicktime then redownloading itunes and it still wont open. Does anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks Poppy
Toshiba Windows XPpoppyp_z,
Uninstall iTunes. It's borked. Uninstall ewido. It's also borked.
Download, install and update Spybot Search & Destroy, then run it. Set it to run on next boot, as well.
You might also want to check your computer for rootkits.
Are you sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements cited below?
"Windows Requirements
Windows XP or 2000 (latest service packs recommended)
500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
QuickTime 7.1 (included)
256MB RAM
Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music
Additional Video Requirements
1.5 GHz Pentium class processor or better
32MB video RAM"
Hope this helps.

Help! iTunes wont recognise iPod and ive tried everything..
I seem to have this ongoing drama with iTunes. I thought it was all over last week when I updated iTunes with the latest version. Everything was sweet for a couple of days. Now its back!
Whats happenning is this:
I connect iPod.
Nothing happens, it doenst start up iTunes.
So I manually open iTunes.
iTunes is very slow. Finally opens up.
Then it spends another 5mins "frozen".
Finally the iPod pops up but its asking me to re-name it.
It asks me this every time.
When it syncs it takes a long time.
When I ask it to eject, it takes probably 20min.
Sometimes i have to eject it from My Computer.
This is what I have tried to do:
Restart the computer.
Restart iPod.
Change USB ports.
Restore iPod from iTunes - it never actually completed this as after 2 hrs of watching the progress bar not going past the first stage I gave up!
Re-install iTunes. Couldnt get it to go past the part where it was stopping a service? Dont know what this means but it wouldnt re-install.
So can anyone suggest what I should try now cause I am stuck.
Please if you have a suggestion I would appreciate your help.
Thanks.Update - I have discovered that iTunes will only recognise my iPod if I open it in the following order 1)Connect iPod, and 2)Open iTunes. If I already have iTunes open and then plug the iPod in it wont work.
Its still asking me to set up the iPod and it takes around 5mins to detect the iPod is connected.
Please can anyone help me????? -

Itunes wont open after an update from Apple.
My Itunes was working fine 2 days ago untill there was an update for it, i installed the update and now my itunes wont open. I've uninstalled everything from Apple and reinstalled it but still itunes wont open. Any ideas what to do next please?
Many people have been having the same problems this week because of he update. Someone on the forum mentioned uninstalling "Bonjour". +Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network - Wikipedia.+ If you have never needed it uninstall it. You could also try typing "MSCONFIG" in the Run selection under the accessories folder and un-checking it under the "Services" tab.
I personally have had the same problems. What i did was i un-checked it on the MSCONFIG menu first and then uninstalled Bonjour.
Hope all this helps -

-checked if it was user
-checked quicktime
-tried opening in safe mode
-uninstalled several times

nothing? any help would be greatly appreciated! For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

yea it is an error 2
Many thanks.
We'll try a "standalone" installation of Apple Application Support, then. (It may not install, but at least we'll have a better idea of what the problem is, based on any error messages we might get.)
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us no what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
got the lastest windows 8.1 and the itunes update recently.
itunes wont open after install of the new version.
tried many ways mentioned on the internet and the apple support communities.
still it doesnt in the "open-mood "Same problem here. I have Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and iTunes 11.1.5.5 and I cannot open iTunes. I do not know of anyone who can. This is a widely known problem by users but Apple has yet to acknowledge this issue. There is no known solution.

Laura BrownThe first step is to try this Microsoft fixit:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
If that doesn't work we will have to try something more complicated. It is a could not open file error message from the installer. -
