Itunes wont open properly or close

hey guys when i open itunes for my windows 7 laptop, it will open all black with a white border and things cut off without words, or just open the grey border that allows me to make it larger, but just the border. it will also not let me close the window and after numerous times of restarting the computer, it hasnt changed. has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you fix it? thanks.

Do you get an error message when you try to install iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

Ahhh. "QuickTime Player has encountered a problem" is one of the possible messages in this sort of context.
So let's first try swapping out your QuickTime.
Head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
    7. Restart your computer.
Next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
Go into Add/Remove and select itunes. Click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. Does it launch properly now?
(If you get an error message on the QuickTime uninstall or the iTunes repair install, let us know what it says.)

    hp   Windows XP

yes, I tried that document first but it did not work.  I couldn't even open itunes in safe mode at all.  I have reistalled safari and repaired quicktime, I've deleted all itunes software and reinstalled, I've googled fixes and tried them all.  Nothing works.  I tried creating another user account, didn't work.  I can now open itunes, but I have to double click the icon and walk away from the computer.  It take 10 or 15 minutes to open, will sync my ipod once, then locks up and I have to reboot.  Any other suggestions?

  • ITunes wont open,as WebKit.dll was not found?

iTunes wont open as, error message says "The application has failed to start because WebKit.dll was not found". Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried to remove iTunes but come up with another error "can't find iTunes.msi"

It looks like you might have two different problems going on at once. Trying the following one first:
"The application has failed to start because WebKit.dll was not found".
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Add or Remove programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
    Does iTunes launch properly now?

  • ITunes wont open from my external hard drive onto my new laptop

i have an external hard drive connected to my desktop with all my itunes music on there. but when i connect the external to my new laptop, itunes wont open. it says i dont have itunes support or something like that. and the reason i have my music on the external is so i CAN open itunes from another computer. but this isnt happening right now. someone please help.

yea it is an error 2
    Many thanks.
We'll try a "standalone" installation of Apple Application Support, then. (It may not install, but at least we'll have a better idea of what the problem is, based on any error messages we might get.)
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us no what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Itunes wont open after updated software last night

iTunes wont open up on my Mac after I updated software last night

    Hey there Nedswan,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after it updated recently. I would check for 3rd party plugins that may have lost compatibility when the software was updated first:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
you can disable any third-party plug-ins by opening iTunes in Safe Mode:
    OS X: Hold down Option-Command.
You should see this message before iTunes starts up: "iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
Note: This is different than Safe Boot or Safe Mode for Mac OS X. You may need to test both at the same time to isolate all third-party interference.
Click Continue and see if any issues persist. If your issues are resolved with iTunes running in Safe Mode, check the following:
Consult the vendor of any plug-ins you installed to see if they're compatible with your version of iTunes and check for any updates that may be available.
Close iTunes and move third-party add-ons to the Desktop to troubleshoot the behavior. iTunes stores these plug-ins and scripts in these locations:
    Mac: /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    /Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • ITunes wont open after re-instaling win xp..

i just re-installed xp and itunes wont open now, shows this--iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.
i tried removing quicktime and itunes and tried re-installing too...but wont help...
i downloaded the old ver 9.2.1.5 but it still wont work....
    Pls help....
AppName: itunes.exe           AppVer: 9.2.1.5           ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0           Offset: 6975515c

I have wasted hours on this for the past few days, and this is what finally worked. I uninstalled both itunes and quicktime. I then reintalled itunes and quicktime, then uninstalled quicktime only. I then reinstalled quicktime standalone. For some reason it now works. I have no idea why this worked, but there had to be something strange going on with quicktime. I would try this before I got into the system and started deleting files, and turning things off. At one point I couldn't even restart my computer.....so don't go there. I am not happy that Apple does not come forward with more help, this is a real mess.

  • Itunes wont open unless restarting computer

itunes wont open unless restarting computer. Bought my first piece of music through itunes store. Shortly thereafter couldn't open itunes after closing it unless restarting the computer. Had no problems previously. Not very computer savvy. Computer usually opens straight to admin user. Created a new (standard) user account as suggested. Opens, closes, reopens ok there. Tried disabling Bonjour, didn't help. Ideas?

No. Computer set up to automatically open "admin" user account when starting. Only created new "standard" user account to see if that worked.  It did. But still had same problem in admin user account.

  • My itunes wont open what do i do

what do i do if my itunes wont open on my mac book

first of all you want to back up all music files before you uninstall itunes. if it wont let you uninstall itunes then right click on itunes in your applications folder, then get info, then go to the bottom and change all permissions to read and write. then close and try to uninstall and reinstall. if that doesnt work then this does :
open apps, go to utilities, open terminal and cut and paste or type in these 3 commands, hitting return after each one.
    (first type) killall iTunes
    (then hit return)
    (then type) killall "iTunes Helper"
    (then hit return)
(then type) sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/
    (and hit return)
after the last one you will be warned and asked to enter your password. do it.
once completed you will see on your itunes icon with a ? shadow inside it.
drag it off the dock and it goes poof.
    then download itunes from apple.
if they wont let you download 11.1.5 itunes then use 10.7 Download it from Apple here.
and then install and upgrade to 11.1.5 from there. this is the method i used when my itunes just bounced after installing mavericks. it takes only minutes and your itunes will be as right as rain. enjoy.

Can you start QuickTime on your computer?
You'll probably have to search for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and use it to remove QuickTime Player and iTunes. Then download and install the iTunes again.

Itunes wont open and when re-installed received this msg: Service Apple mob device failed to start.  You have insufficent privileges to start system svc.  Help?

Download Itunes from Apple.com, not from within Itunes.
Redo the install, following the below procedure.   However, when you re-install Itunes,  right click and run the install as administrator.   For Win 7, you have to hold down the cntrl and shift keys when you right click and then "run as administrator" will be an option.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Vista, Win 7 & later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
