Itunes wont open.. "send error report to microsoft"

Whenever i try to open my Itunes, a message asking me to send an error report to Microsoft appears. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both itunes and quicktime many different times and nothing is working. I have tried recreating the preference files or whatever, and also recreating the music library files that are potentially corrupt. please help me someone!!

I have the same problem too. I use Win2k3 on my Compaq Presario 2500 laptop. I have been noticing this problem since the day i decided to upgrade from iTunes 6.0.2.x to higher. As of now it seems to me that it is the problem with QuickTime. Worse part is afte uninstalling the iTunes I can not find QuickTime in add/remove program group.
Earlier for this reason alone I did reinstall everything, formatting the disk. Yesterday I just tried upgrading to latest version. Unlucky me stuck with the same problem again. Never expected something like this from Apple at least. Now I should row for clean install once again.
Tried to rolling back to earlier version of iTunes but quicktime seems to be the problem.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to work.
I have windows 8.1

Now I reinstall the old itunes and it says itunes wont open because there is a missing file, plz reinstall itunes.

i had my secondary hard drive die. My windows is on my C: all of my music was on my D:. Now iTunes wont open becuase it cant access D:. If I try to uninstall it tells me it cant find D:. If I try to re-install it says it cant find D:. I have cleaned the registry of iTunes, and it still wont reinstall. Any thoughts, thanks in advanced.

ITunes wont open only error message

iTunes wont open I only get an error message that reads. "The folder iTunes cannot be found or created and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the My Music folder" My music is on an exernal hard drive and it worked before I upgraded and now it wont work.
Please help

it's best to leave the "My Music" folder on the C drive. it's a Windows special folder, so having it out on an external can cause weird problems if (say) the drive letter assignment for the external drive changes.
okay, here's the best place to start:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes
... but if you run into the complication where "My Music" doesn't appear as an option in TweakUI, try the alternate technique from the following Nigel Carpenter post:

hi,
today I had a problem with moving songs from itunes to ipod. have had this issue in the past which was fixed by using ipod updater.
this didnt seem to work so for first time in ages ran the itunes updater. I can no longer open itunes and get the following error.
Quicktime unavailable
itunes requires Windows 2000 or later
Please make sure compatibility mode is disbaled in the compatibility tab of the properties of itunes.exe
well....I tried to do this (I am not massively IT literate!), have tried selecting or deselecting compatibility on this tab....and still wont open....any ideas?
im on windows XP professional.

if I find the mp3 file on my hardrive and move it to ipod manually it still doesnt appear when I disconnect.
that's normal. for the ipod to recognise a song it needs to be transferred to the ipod via itunes rather than dragged and dropped with Windows Explorer. see the note at the end of this article:

... try resetting the warnings on your ipod and trying another manual sync:

Ipod touch/itunes not syncing-send error report

I always had the problem but im pretty sure its common for every one else that has any type of ipod- but when i connect my ipod to the computer nothing happens. on my ipod screen it says its syncing but on the itunes window nothing happens. then if i was to unplug it, it would make the connected noise then switch to the disconnected noise- like its responding slow. Then after waiting for a minute a screen pops up that says it wants me to send an error report..

Itunes wont open up error 10310

About a week ago I tried opening up my iTunes and synching my ipod touch 32 gig (3rd Gen). Then it displayed, "The iTunes Application could not be opened. An unknown error occured (10310)" since then I have tried reinstalling itunes, and opening it daily. It's driving me nuts! Any suggestions?

this one scared the heck out of me, the first time i saw it reported here back in the itunes 5.0.0.35 days. of all things, it usually means that you've got a broken QuickTime.
try a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall:
download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

Itunes wont open, hpqutils error

After installing the upgrade (7.1.1) now Itunes will not open. I've tried reinstalling, restarting, etc. but nothing works. When I try to open it I get "File or assembly menu hpqutils or one of it's attributes not found" Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

i DONT have norton
i used msconfig and disabled everything except windows and it still will not open
i tried to unistall and reinstall, same problem

iTunes was working fine and then it wouldnt open up and it would say "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 998)" I would reinstall it but i don't want to erase all the music off library. Anyone know how I can keep my songs on iTunes and reinstall it. Thanks

(French) I think (because I did it oft) that your music will stay in your files and wenn you'll re-install itunes, your music will come back automaticly... But I have also this problem, I had re-install iTunes a lot of times and it's always the same... I can't open iTunes

ITunes not opening, just error report...

Everytime I try opening iTunes, it doesn't come up, but an error does. It says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvienence."
I've tried all the help from the Apple support page - yet nothing works. This is really bugging me because I can't put music on it, and I can't even use Windows Media Player to sync, because even when my iPod is connected; it still comes up saying it's not connected, so I have absolute no way of putting music onto it.
Does anybody know what I can do?..

ITunes wont open. Error message has no text just red octagon with !

I plugged in my iPod this morning which is set to automatically launch iTunes. A window came up after several second but there was no text telling me what the error was.
The only thing showing in the window is a red octagon with an exclamation mark in the middle. Overlapping the bottom right portion of the octagon is the blue iTunes cd icon. There is also a button allowing me to close the window.
The system appears to be unaffected by this. I have tried running permissions, deleting the plist from Preferences, rebooting, but the same window keeps popping up.
Can anyone tell me what type of error this is and how to fix it?
I'm running a 1.42 GHz, G4 Mini with 1 GB of RAM. My iTunes music resides on an external firewire drive with the library files in the Music folder on my hard drive.
