Itunes wont open when i try to activate

can someone please help me...please?
when i plugged my phone in for the first time, all that opened up was iphoto...and i have tried all the troubleshooting tips apple suggests but nothing is working. does anyone know what im doing wrong?

I had the problem of itunes not being able to open AT ALL. If this is your problem, it can be fixed by deleting all "com.apple.itunes" files in your Library's Preferences folder. Once deleted log out and then back in. If this still doesn't work then move the entire preferences folder to your desktop, log out and then back in. If that fixes the problem then you're set. If you end up moving the entire preferences folder, all of your preferences will be gone such as desktop picture, ichat prefs, etc. but easily replaceable. If it is too much work then just simply put those "com.apple...." (specific to that application) files into your new preferences folder. Let me know if this helps.

When I plug my Iphone into the computer either Itunes wont open or if it's open it wont recognize the phone. The computer shows it's connected because it always asks when program I wont to use to look at the pictures. I have tried rebooting the computer and it doesn't help. I had the same thing. Here's what fixed it for me:
I had downloaded the latest iTunes (7.3) but because my existing copy of iTunes wasn't in the base, Applications folder, it didn't overwrite my existing iTunes application. Therefore, when you go to click on iTunes in your dock, or any desktop alias, etc., it's still opening the old version. Try opening the newly downloaded version (in the base, Applications folder) and try it again. I bet ya it'll work.

i updated my iphone 4s and tried connecting it to my mac but itunes wont open at all, so i updated mac software as well as itunes, and itunes still won't open up when i connect my phone.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

ITunes wont open when iPOD is connected.. if it does... comp wont recognize

Evrytime I plug in my iPOD, my computer and/or iPOD either freezes, or iTunes wont open. This is happening all of the sudden. It works when plugged into the wall and my iPOD also works normally at work! UGH can anyone help

Like I just did a reset, then reloaded all my stuff, and then like and hour later I do an update, and iTunes tells me it don't reconize my iPod. Tells me to do a reset again.

My ipod is disabled and it says connect through itunes, and i've put it in recovery mode and it has the itunes thing up when the recovery mode has worked, but the itunes thing wont pop up on the screen! Please help!

By 'wont pop up' do you mean that iTunes on your computer doesn't automatically open when you connect it to to ? If you do then if you open iTunes yourself, does it then recognise that a device in recovery mode it connected to your computer ? If not then do you have the current version of iTunes installed on your computer ?

when i plug my ipod in, my computers goes ding saying that a device is connected. then, it dings 3 additional times and then itunes doesnt open. my ipod starts to charge and i cant open itunes manually either. I also have a new MB Pro running OS X 10.9.5 and a new iPhone 6. My iPhone connects to iTunes, but hangs at step 6 in the sync process -- copying apps to the iPhone. I let it run all night last night and it never got beyond the second app. This morning I upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 and have the same problem. Now I am stuck at the third app.

Safari, Opera & Firefox WONT open when I try to open them in ROSETTA

I have followed the instructions to open them via Rosetta, it doesn't work. All three different browsers just bounce in the dock, and then stop. I have called apple help and nothing came of that. I am trying to download Shockwave, and I have an intel-based mac.

As for the running in Rosetta, are the applications 'unexpectedly quitting' or just never appear to launch? If they are quitting, can you post the crash report text that you get when Safari quits? You can obtain the crash report text by clicking the (Report...) button in the Unexpectedly Quit window and then copying and pasting the text here.
If they just never launch, can you check the console.log (via Applications -> Utilities -> Console.app) to see if any entries are logged when you try to run them.

I have installed, then uninstalled several times, itunes and quick time from apple.com via cable on my laptop with windows xp. All the icons are on the desktop, but itunes wont open when double clicked. I do not get any error message, only hour glass appears for a few seconds and then its gone. I turned off NIS before installing, removed temp files, deleted previous downloads, restarted computer, updated windows, turned off firewall - nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions !!!

iTunes 6 won't open on a Windows computer if firewall software is not up-to-date
... but if no joy with that, let's try the trusty Lorraine M technique:

iTunes wont open when I attach my iPhone to the computer with the same USB ccable I have been using. I can open iTunes then all works fine. In iTunes the option to open iTunes when phone is attached is clicked on.

You'll have to disable the "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" option before you can choose to have iTunes open when the iPhone is connected.

Download Itunes from Apple.com, not from within Itunes.
Redo the install, following the below procedure. However, when you re-install Itunes, right click and run the install as administrator. For Win 7, you have to hold down the cntrl and shift keys when you right click and then "run as administrator" will be an option.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Vista, Win 7 & later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
