Itunes wont read or burn audio CD

Hello
Can anybody help me. I have Itunes with Win XP Pro and it wont read a CD, just keeps telling me to enter CD in Drive. I've run CD Diagnostics(there was an audio Cd in the drive at the time) with the following result, can anyone interrupt this for a numpty computer user like me and tell me what the problem is and what I should do?
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Compaq Evo N1020v
iTunes 7.0.2.16
CD Driver 2.0.6.1
CD Driver DLL 2.0.6.1
UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.0.6.1),
Video Driver: RADEON IGP 340M \RADEON IGP 340M
IDE\DiskIC25N040ATCS04-0______________________CA4OA71A, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
USBSTOR\DiskST9100824A____________0000, Bus Type USB
IDE\CdRomHL-DT-STRW/DVD_GCC-4240N_______________0110___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
Current user is an administrator.
D: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4240N, Rev 0110
Drive is empty.

Well, the CD diagnostics thinks the drive empty. What happens if you go to Windows Explorer with an audio CD in the drive and try to explore the CD? Do other applications, like Windows Media Player see the CD?
For reference, the support site for your computer is here.

  • Itunes wont read iphone, thinks it's a digital camera...help

I dont know what happened, but when I first got my PC with vista 64, and had itunes installed with the iphone, everything worked. 3 days ago I reformatted my drives and reinstall windows and all my programs. I got itunes working with all my music and whatnot, but when I plug my iphone in to toss music on it, itunes wont read it. Windows knows it's there, but everytime I plug it in, the lower right hand corner the "windows is installing new driver blah blah" pops up, and then get an error message saying it couldnt install the driver. I go to device manager and windows thinks it's a digital camera. I did the whole update driver with the "c:\windows\system32\drivestore\usbaapl_" thing, and I got this message:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
(usb icon) Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
The system cannot find the file specified."
I have been googling the crap out of this and I am at wit's end with this. I've uninstalled/reinstalled itunes, cleaned registry, wiped all apple programs from the PC, anything google told me to, hahaha. Serious, I cant find any forum or web article to help me past this point. Please help...

I think I got it. I've had the same problem as you and many others. I went to device manager and found iPhone under imaging devices. Here's what I did:
Right-click -> properties -> driver tab -> update drivers (launches Hardware Update Wizard) select...
No, not this time (next) Install from a list ... (next) Don't search ... (next) Now there should be two choices under model. Select the Apple Mobile Device. This is not digitally signed so you'll get warnings but continue. When I did this iTunes picked up my iPhone right away.

  • First It wouldn't sync, Now iTunes wont read it.

My iPod was fine until I reformatted my computer. Then I plugged it in and tried to add some songs on it. It wanted to restore it so I did. I kept getting an error ever ytime It would start to sync, saying Windows - Delayed write failed and said a bunch of other stuff with it. I kept trying over and over, I even tried putting the music on manually but it kept popping up. Now when I plug it in iTunes wont read it, but My Computer reads it, and an autoplay pops up and starts going through my songs but it never recognizes the iPod.

If you got the standard "stub" download, could you try the "full" installer. You can get that from the following page (scroll down to your preferred language):
    https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
I think in an earlier thread it was reported that Firefox installers include decompression technology from 7-zip. Is Windows reporting or recording any error involving 7-zip?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414  - "You can use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to factory settings and the latest version of iOS. Restoring iOS software deletes all your data and content from your device, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar info."
You may encounter problems fully restoring if Activation Lock is active - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5818

  • ITunes 8 won't burn audio cd's

iTunes will now only burn MP3 cd's. If I set it to burn audio cd's, it goes through the initial process (ie you can hear the drive working & iTunes displays message in top window that it's writing each song as it comes to it) but once it goes thru the writing process, a new window pops up (just like Windows XP launches when you put a new blank CD in the drive) indicating a new blank cd is in the drive -- and then nothing happens. It doesn't burn. Nor is there anything burned on the cd in the drive, that just got "written" to. The cd drive is fine. It burns cd's under windows and using other programs such as Roxio. In fact, I uninstalled Roxio thinking it might be causing a conflict w/ iTunes. No difference.
    Any ideas, anyone???

This seems to be a common and, as of yet, unresolved issue. Check out: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1742251&tstart=0

  • My itunes wont open, because of audio configeration?

when i try to open my itunes,i get a pop up saying my audio configeration is wrong,i've tried restoring to an earlyer time but get the same responce, havent had a computor long and i'm over 50 so someone help, before I put an axe through my computer, cheers, druby

Since iTunes uses QuickTime to play audio/video content in iTunes, that error message most likely indicates that there's a problem with Quicktime installation.

  • Itunes wont read music unless CD or ipod is connected

I just switched my ipod library over from my mothers computer to my own PC and now itunes wont let me play my music unless the ipod is plugged it. It also wont play the cds i had on recovery disks unless the disk is in.
I get a message that says...
"The song....could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
Anyone know what I can do? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to computers too so if you have any suggestions if you could explain things to their full extent that would be nice. Thank you.

    Hi Kelly007
you have to copy the music files to your music folder on your computer and then import them from there to iTunes

  • ITunes wont open due to audio configuration.

  • ITunes wont read mp4 tags?

I downloaded a few albums in mp4 format for the first time today, and I like to use iTunes to keep my library organized. When I added the new music to iTunes, it threw all the new songs in folder 'Unknown Artist - Unknown Album'. I used winamp to check the files, and they all have mp4 tags. My wont iTunes organize these files?

What tag editor are you using? The only tag editor that I know works properly on M4A files, other than iTunes, is Tag&Rename. Anything else might screw up the files completely.
