ITunes wont recognise any of my devices

Whenever i plug my iPhone 4s or iPad2 into the USB and connect it to my iMAc, the iMac won't recognise it.
Nothing at all happens - it will only charge. Usually iTunes or iPhoto will open up and recognise my device, but not now.
I am running the latest software, I've tried restarting all my devices- but nothing works.
It must be an iMac issue, I'm running iTunes 10.5.3 which is the latest.
Can anyone help?

I have no experience with any devices but I would suggest restarting the computer.  Also check if there are any preference boxes that you need to set to get iTunes and/or iPhoto to open when a device is attached.  I assume devices are recognized if itunes is up and running?

    hey mill1640,
Did you ever get your iPhone to register with iTunes? I just upgraded as well to Snow Leopard, and my my isn't recognized at all also.
If you did get this resolved, I would appreciate a little suggestion in the right direction.
    Many thanks,

  • Itunes not recognising any of my devices?

I plugged in my iPod nano 7th generation the other day to sync a new album to it and a message popped up saying: 'An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the device.' The iPod worked fine the day before this happened so I have no idea as to the cause. I followed all of the steps on the apple website and forums and nothing worked. I then tried to put the songs on my iPhone 5S, which it was connected to over wifi, when the sync failed. I plugged the iPhone in and the exact same message popped up? I took it to the store and they said to replace the iPod, but its obviously not the iPod its my computer.
I've already tried fully uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it and still nothing, i've updated drivers and deleted preferences, switched wires and ports and pretty much everything else on the web and I'm honestly clueless as to what the next step to try is!!
Since when did putting a new album on an iPod get so tricky?

  • HT204387 Why My iphone 4 wont discover any other bluetooth device, including my ipad

Why my iPhone 4 wont discover any other bluetooth device, including my ipad?

It will not connect to your ipad.  This has never been a feature of ipad/iphone/ipod
It supports stereo headsets/speakers, handsfree telephone devices, some keyboards, some apps from the app store, and internet tethering if provided by the carrier.
Other than these, it will not connect to another phone or computer.

  • Just updated iphone 4s to ios7 and now itunes wont recognise my device.

Before updating my iphone, itunes on my mac was easy to use and always recognised my phone. Now i cant even get itunes to recognise my iphone. It had pop ups saying that the phone is locked with a passcode and then i unlocked it and now its saying "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because the device timed out. How do i get itunes to work again!!!???? ive tried everything

I have had the same problem since updating
However I also have no facetime, and every time I use an app I get a message asking me to review the icloud terms and condition. Would happily do this but all it does is take me to a blank page. Apple support suggested resetting everything via settings, but icloud, facetime and imessaging are"greyed out".
    any suggestions anyone?

  • Itunes wont recognise my iphone 5

Ive just got my iphone 5 back from being serviced and tunes wont recognise my 'fixed' iphone 5s.  All my data was backed up to itunes on my pc and i need to restore it to the phone.  Help!!!!

does it show up in my computer as a camera or not at all?
have you tried connecting to other computers to see if it's detected there to verifcy that the conector is not damaged and causing the device not to be recognized by the computer?

  • ITunes doesnt recognise any iphone since upgrade to 10.5

I am on windows 7 using Toshiba Satelitte L770
I have an iPhone 3GS, my wife has an iPhone 4 and we have an iPad.
All 3 worked fine with the Toshiba on itunes 10.4
I then wanted to upgrade the devices to iOS 5.0.1 (from 4.3) - so iTunes 10.5.2 had to be downloaded first which we did.
Once iTunes was upgrade - the devices were not recognised, only as camera devices but not in iTunes
I tried all of the standard troubleshooting as seen here - http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_7
    No joy.
On a separate laptop running Windows Vista on a Dell Latitude, I have iTunes 10.5.2 installed.
When i plug the devices in, they are recognised no problem. So this problem appears to be related to the Toshiba only
I removed itunes and reinstalled the old version 10.4 -- this time iTunes gives out to say the version of iOS is imcompatible with iTunes 10.4 - which I think is good, as at least its recognising the iphone is connected.
Once I upgrade to 10.5.2. on itunes again, nothing, doesnt recognise the fact that any of the devices have been plugged in
    Help??
What else can I try, cant find anything on google other than what I covered in the troubleshooting requests.

Been having the same issues happening on the same machine as you. I did this yesterday, and so far so good.
    1. Restart in safe mode (Hold down shift key when you hear the chime)
    2. Under Applications > Utilities > Disk Utilities, select your hard drive on the left column, and click "Repair Permissions"
    3. Once done, restart
It's been a day since I've done this, and no beachballs yet (fingers crossed)

  • ITunes wont update any iphone or ipod

when i plug my iphone or ipod into my computer itunes recognizes it and everything seems to be fine, it can show all files on the device and all songs. the problem is when i try to restore or update it wont do it. for the iphone 3G if i click the restore button nothing happens. same with the sync and update buttons. the same thing with my ipod nano 4th gen. if i try it on a different computer it will download the firmware and extract and install as its supposed to. but this computer wont do any of that. i have itunes 8.1.

    neither library sync it
how do i make my laptop my default library then? with the same settings/playlists that are on my desktop? i download touchcopy09 which allowed me to transfer all songs/playlists over to my laptop to itunes which is how i have the same exact songs on both laptop and desktop
on my desktop, music only transfers over if i click and drag it to the iphone dropdown

  • Itunes wont recognise new iphone

I am trying to sync my iphone to a new computer (i've already synced to one) and it wont recognise it. What do i do - how do i sync it?

  • Ive tried to update and sync my ipod touch and its froze, itunes wont recognise it and when it turns for a few seconds on my apps have all gone?

i cant get my ipod to turn on - i tried to update it and it froze with an apple and loading bar on the screen. it finally asked me to plug it in to itunes which i have but then it wont recognise it and when it does it tries to restore it. itunes says it has been restored and needs to be synced but then it disappears and cant be found by itunes again. the ipod itself turns on for a few seconds but all of my apps have gone?! then all goes black and i have to start all over again. please help xxx

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
