ITunes wont recognize certain iPods.

My computer (a Windows XP machine) will not recognize my sister's iPod nano or my friends iPod 3rd generation when I plug them in. They sometimes show up on my computer, but never in iTunes itself. My own 4th generation iPod shows up and syncs perfectly with my computer.
The other odd thing is that my sister's nano/ friend's iPod work fine on our other xp laptop. Which is a real pain as you can imagine.
The only possible thing I could think of is that my computer's harddrive is labeled I instead of the Traditional C. This happened when we replaced the harddrive well over 10 months ago. I'm not sure if this is at all relevant, but it's the only thing I can think of that sets my cpu apart from others.... And yes, I have upgraded ITunes to 7.01 or whatever./ (the newest version)
Any help is appriciated---I'm a lover of iPods, but am now cautious of buying anew one for fear it wont work on my neatly orgnaized computer.

The only possible thing I could think of is that my computer's harddrive is labeled I instead of the Traditional C - Yes, it is one of the reason behind it.
Secondly, please note that your friends' iPod 3rd gerneation, can only connecting via Firewire cable/port, it does not work via USB.

olemadrid, I'd suggest you start a new topic with your issue (use the "Post a new topic" link at the top of each main topic page). It's generally better to ask a question as a new topic rather than as a reply in someone else's thread, It's more courteous to the original poster, and is more likely to get your question the attention it deserves.
    Good luck.

  • I had to reset my iPod classic after it froze, now iTunes wont recognize my iPod. It says its connected to my computer too. Help?

I pulled my ipod off of my ihome to go upload some new music. Tried to turn it on, nothing. Tried and tried again and nothing would come up. Tried to charge it and nothing came up. So i reset it. The apple screen kept popping up and it would just stay there frozen. So I would try and try again and finally it asked for the language selection screen. I selected english and tried to connect it to my computer and the "eject before dicconecting" screen popped up but it wont show up in itunes. Everytime I unplug it it goes back to the apple screen? Any suggestions?

  • Computer/itunes wont recognize 30gig ipod classic

I have a 30 gig video ipod classic.  It has always worked fine for me ever since i puchased it about 3 years ago.  However, i recently received a Jensen ipod dock to play/charge my ipod.  I have been using this to charge my ipod for a while.  I have now tried to plug my ipod into my computer and it wont show up in my itunes.  I can only charge it with this dock not, not my computer, or even my car adapter.  I has recently noticed a sticker on the back of this radio that reads "For proper syncing, connect the USB cable between your computer and this unit prior to docking your ipod.  I just tried this and still no luck with itunes recognizing either (the dock or my ipod)  Has this happened to any one else?  Anyway to fix it or am i just screwed?

  • Itunes wont recognize my IPod.....states it is corrupted.

My Ipod Classic is corrupted I ran the check and hear is what it said:
    Retracts: 59
    Reallocs:1072
    Pending Sectors: 6
    Power on Hours:367
    Start/Stops:231
    Temp Current: 30c
    Temp Min:8c
    Temp Max: 50c
This started after I was playing it and it started delaying switching to different songs.  Some songs wouldn't even play and it would just skip to the next song.  I rebooted it and it would say my battery was dead, so I would charge it, but it kept doing the same thing.  This morning, I plugged it into my computer and now all of my songs are gone....they are still on Itunes, but it is not recognizing my Ipod.  I have tried everything from restoring to formatting;....please help me!!!!
