ITunes5 won't load photo in iPod Photo

I was forced to upgrade to iTunes5 (long AppleCare story) after a complete hard disk reformat. prior to this, I was using iLife04 with iTunes4.9 and iPod Photo30G, and all was working well.
now that I have iTunes5, it won't upload photo to my iPod. It keeps stating that I need iPhoto 4.0.3 or later to upload photo to iPod.. which I have.
I have tried deleting .plist, re-installing iPhoto and re-upgrading to 4.0.3, re-installing iTunes5, numberous reboots. and I even tried reverting to iTunes4.8 (some kind soul had an old installer available), to no avail.
iTunes5 loads music ok (I think). just won't recognize the iPhoto for what it is, to get the conduit to upload photo working.
any help?

one more thing I did.. I also did re-install the latest iPod driver as well.. no help.

My iphoto will not load, all it does when i open it is just show a blank iphoto and won't load any of my photos that were already in there. Any way to fix it ?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Loading Podcast to iPod photo 20g

I have an iPod Photo 20gig. Works great, but I can't always get a podcast to load from my Mac to the iPod. When I try to drag it from my iTunes list to the iPod (in iTunes), the iPod icon in iTunes won't highlight, and I can't load up the selected podcast. This is only happening with one podcast.

In another thread ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1524557 ) turingtest2 suggests that "you must use an automatic sync option (at least for the Podcasts section) for them to appear in the iPod's Podcast menu". Perhaps the Classic is more demanding with Podcasts, who knows!

I see the status bar showing that I'm loading something into the iPod. But when loading is done, I cannot find the file anywhere in my iPod, much less in the PodCast section. Note that I see the capacity of the iPod decreased due to audio content increase.
As you say that you see the capacity decrease due to audio content, that would suggest that the Podcasts are in audio somewhere and have not been transferred as data files. Check in the music section under Artists, Albums and even Genres/Podcasts. If you cannot find them, I'm not sure what else to suggest.
I've got an equally silly question, why don't you use sync to automatically load your iPod, rather than dragging stuff on and off? Unless your total audio content is greater than your iPod's capacity, it is by far the best thing to do. You can still manage the content, by selecting/unselecting the individual song titles in your library and you can also keep all the Podcasts or let iTunes delete them once you have listened to them.

  • My iPhoto won't load my thousands of photos! Will an upgrade help? Do I need to uninstall then reinstall iPhoto?

It just keeps "thinking". It won't load anything. I cannot back up my iphone photos because iphoto will never open.
What do I do? I have a backup of my iphoto library but I am not very technology savy.
I went to the genius bar and the guy was so rude I had to leave after the hour and a half of waiting and listening to him cut off my questions.
Please help!!! I love my photos and my music more than anything on this computer!

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto launches?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • TS3989 My problem is that the photos won't load up in My Photo Stream. Something is wrong with my account (Apple ID). Because when I tried it with another account, it worked fine. This problem began when I deleted all the photos on My Photo Stream.

I once deleted all the photos on My Photo Stream, since then, it won't upload photos anymore.
If I share a stream, it works fine. But still, no photos on My Photo Stream.
I just tried another Apple ID on my iPhone and it worked nicely. So, I guess something went wrong when I deleted all the photos.
    Can someone please help?
    Many thanks.

    This one was quick.
    I deleted my Apple ID.
Tried a new Apple ID for it.
Deleted the newly created Apple ID which I had just created as a test.
Entered again my main Apple ID and... voilá.
    It works again.

  • Transferring photos on Ipod Photo

i Have an Ipod Photo 60GB . it all works Ok and i have music and 20,000 Photos stored on it. However i have the following problem.
i can synch my photos from My G5 to the ipod and store them ok.
but what i want to be able to do is to transfer all my photos that are then on that Ipod to my laptop (ibook),.
but when i connect the ipod to it its asks if i want to synch to that library , and update that ipod to that library on the ibook which is not what i want the ipod to do.
i want the synch d library from the G5 transferred across.
I simply want to transfer individual photos or library stored on the Ipod from there to the harddrive of the Ibook. So that i have the same photos on both machines. so i can show people the pictures from the ibook but seem unable to do it.
Simple ? err with Apple NO
is there a way round this ?
im am not sure if this query is in the correct category ,if it isnt i apologise , but maybe i can get help anyway. Thanks

I'm having the same problem, yet my "enable disk use" check is grayed out. I'm in the understanding that because I set my iPod to manually update, it's already enabled for disk use, so I don't have to worry about it.
However, I'm still having trouble seeing my photos. The iPod meter says I have 800k worth of photos on my iPod (5th gen 80-gig video), but when I scroll to the photos menu from the iPod itself, I only see the slideshow settings. I've properly set my photos folder to sync and followed all the directions. I know there are other people who have the same problem and yet no one on the forums seems to answer or are treating them like they're stupid.
Your reply, Neil, was actually the only one I've found that didn't, so thanks for that... but unfortunately the article you pointed to still doesn't solve the issue.

  • Can't see photos on ipod photo 40G

    Hi,
I bought a 40G ipod photo with colour display last christmas'05. The old firmware couldnt display photos.
recently, i upgraded the firmware with updater. But I still cant display the photos.
    Could anyone help?
    Paul

    Sorry for the late reply,
From the main menu of the ipod, after selecting photos, and enter, I only see the SlideShow settings on the next menu.
Am I supposed to see another selection of photo libraries other then this slideshow settings.
Basically, I am unable to reach a selction leading to the photo library so that I can select the photo for viewing.
    Also under Settings>About>
    Songs - 383
    Photos - 0
    Capacity - 37.1 GB
    Available 28.9 GB
    Version 1.2
    Serial no .....
Photos were actually transfered by copying folder containing photos in Windows XP into the ipod icon in Windows XP.
    Appreciate if you could help.
    Thanks

  • Downloading 15,000 Photos to iPod Photo

Want to upgrade to 4th gen iPod 60GB but would like answers to the following.
    1. I have 15,000 Jpeg images stored on an iMac but not in iPhoto. The folder structure is extensive and named in a manner that I understand. If I want to download all 15,000 Jpeg images via iTunes will the folder structure-names and each file code number be kept the same. In other words I want to duplicate the whole archive; folders, files and names and access the same family tree of folders and files as if on an iMac with all photo files in the same order, is this possible?.
    2. Apple say, “When you download photos to iPod, iTunes optimises the photos for viewing. Full-resolution image files aren’t transferred by default”.
By what % does iTunes reduce each image file by?.
    Thanks.

    1) You can actually downlaod photos directly from iphoto library .....you can set up folders within iphoto and the pholders will appear on the ipod. But i am unaware of elements transfer on a mac (never done it b4).
    4) the useable gb on a ipod hard drive is slightly less that the advertised 30gb or 60gb it in reality done mathematically is slightly less. So it is likely 1 or 2 gb lower than the advertised gb storage.Other factors that key intyo the avialble disk storage is apporx how many songs and other files that are stored on your ipod not including the photos you want to place on there.

  • My itunes video won't load into my ipod

I just received my ipod and have been using it for a week now and I have been purchasing music videos and stand up comedians through itunes.
One video (about 22 min. long) was purchased and downloaded fine into my ipod. The video played fine, no problems. That is until I realized that a few days later, I could no longer see the video in my ipod. It is still in my itunes but no matter what I do, I cannot get it to load back into my ipod.
Any suggestions? I am at a total loss.

Thank you for the tip Jeff but I still cannot get the video to load onto my ipod.
It is in my itunes and plays there fine, but no matter what I do, I am still unsuccessful. And Apple's customer service is NO help at all.

  • IPhoto'11 won't load any of my photos

I'm using iPhoto'11 on a MacBook Pro 13" currently running Snow Leopard. Recently, iPhoto would open, but it wouldn't load up any photos. I'm not sure how this happen. The photos haven't been deleted because I can easily find them in the enclosed folder of the iPhoto application. If you could please help me get it working again, that would be wonderful.
This is what the window looks like when I open it up, this doesn't change at all.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Transferring photos from ipod photo to mac

i've transferred photos from camera to ipod using apples cammera connector. how do i now get these onto my powerbook? I've done this before, but have forgotten.
    thanks,
    richard

An iPod nano is not a camera, so you can't do that with iPhoto.
There is a setting that relates to your question.  Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Photos tab.  There is a checkbox there, that says Include full-resolution photos.  If that setting was checked WHEN you synced the photos to your iPod, then the iPod will have a copy of photo files at full-resolution.  To retrieve them, Enable disk use on the iPod's Summary tab.  Open the iPod's storage as a "disk," and look for the image files in Photos folder.
If that setting was NOT already checked, then the iPod only has a low-resolution database of "thumbnails" instead of the photos; they are optimized to fit the very small screen on the nano (and save storage space).  They are not in a format that can be used directly on a computer.  There may be third-party utilities that can retrieve the images as individual files, but they would look terrible blown up to computer screen size.  The way they are converted and stored on the iPod, each image is only meant to look decent on the iPod's tiny screen.

  • HT4059 I have ipod software version 4.2.1, but the iBooks app won't load onto my ipod touch 8GB. Why?

As it says, the iBooks app refuses to load, even though my iOS version should be high enough. Any suggestions?

The current version of the iBooks app that is in the store requires iOS 5+. Unless you downloaded a previous version of the app when it was compatible with iOS 4.2.1 and you still have it somewhere (on your computer or on a backup) then you won't be able to install iBooks (only the current version of each app is in the store)

  • Itunes 7.3.2, libra, and now songs won't load onto my iPod or iPHone

I'm not sure if Libra is the culprit, but since I updated last night, when I sync my iPod and IPhone no music or movies load.
I don't want to to to the hour of removing Libra and reconsolidating libraries if that is not the cause. I love Libra, I love being able to have my full library on an external drive and my iPod and only small ones on my laptop...

If the songs on the iPod are "greyed out" when you look at them through iTunes, it's because you have it set to auto sync. That's why you can't drag and drop.
If you want to do that, you need to change to manage the content manually.
"also once the songs are on the ipod, you can't change the text or get the artwork."
You will be able to edit the songs when you change to manual. However, if you add artwork to the songs on the iPod directly, you will not be able to view it on the iPod.
Artwork must be added to the songs in iTunes first, then transferred to the iPod.

  • Some songs won't load on my ipod

I recently loaded some new songs from original CD's but they don't show up on my ipod after I sync up. If I look at the ipod properties it says I have 24 mb of "other" rather than music. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

24MB of Other is really not a lot. You should not worry about that much. If it gets over like 100MB, then you could Restore.

  • Songs Won't Load on New Ipod

Got a new Ipod because my old one died. I can't load songs onto it. Here is what happens. When I hook the Ipod up, Itunes sees it and attempts to load the songs. I get a message that says it can't copy some of the songs because they aren't playable on this Ipod. This never happend with the old Ipod. I hit OK. Then I get an error that says "Attempting to copy the disk GREG's IPOD failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)." Any ideas?

This did help. However, I had to delete the file and just not uncheck it. I changed the preference to download only checked files, but it tried to download it anyway. Any idea why that would happen? Additionally, the "corrupt" file was a podcast. Are podcasets more apt to be "corrupted." This is the first that I have ever used my ipod with podcasts, and I am trying to understand if I should expect more of thest types of problems.
Thanks so much for your help.
