ITunes9 Home Sharing...I have lost a lot of music!! Help!

Since enabling Home Sharing, I noticed a lot of duplicate songs in my library. I started deleting them, and now the original songs won't play. There is an exclamation mark next to the song title, and I get a message that asks me to locate the original song. When I go to my back up file, which I created prior to enabling Home Sharing, the songs are not there. I could just cry! I have lost probably over 1000 songs. Is there any way to recover this music, or am I SOL?!
What a crappy application!

I hope you have been backing up to Time Machine and can go to iTunes from a few days ago and reinstall all your missing songs. Otherwise, no answers are immediately apparent. I have caused a similar phenomenon when deleting duplicate emails, which is a real teeth gnasher, but not as bad as loosing music.

I have lost a lot of music in itunes after re-downloading it on my computer. I also need to find out how to transfer songs from my ipod to my itunes on my computer.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
In the U.S you can use the recently released icloud beta to get purchases.  Open itunes store, click Purchased under Quick Links

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Note: Previously purchased music is only available through iTunes in the Cloud in Australia, Canada, Cypress, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Previously purchased TV shows are only available through iTunes in the Cloud in the United States.
Re "numbers"..  if you mean phone numbers (contacts) select the Info tab from the menu. Select Sync Address Book Contacts then click Tthe Sync button bottom right corner of the iTunes window.

if the copy files ... when adding option is checkmarked in iTunes > preferences > advanced, files you transfer via homesharing are copied permanently to the other library.

What do you mean by "won't pick up the songs"?
You can only sync with one iTunes library. However, you can manage mauic and videos among different computer by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
You can transfer iTunes purchases to a computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

  • HT204053 hi i have updated my icloud and i have lost a lot of my Passwords that i had saved on my Notes

hello I have updated my icloud and i have lost a lot of my Passwords that i have stored on my Note can you help me ???

I found the culprit in my case:  after update to itunes 12 iPhone is X GB over the limit.
Check your sync settings for each type of content in the left sidebar.  In my case I had sync turned off for everything but ringtones.   After iTunes update for some reason the entire music library is set to sync with the phone.  Turning it off reconciled the storage issue.   Perhaps in your case it is some other new content marked for syncing.

  • Changed email from pop to imap in entourage 2008 and apple mail and have lost a lot of messages

Changed email from pop to imap in entourage 2008 and apple mail and have lost a lot of messages. I am a rookie and don't know what to do to correct the situation

I found this great set of mail AppleScripts:
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
It includes one script to delete duplicate messages. So if we can't find a way to do this right, then I'll just download all the duplicates then delete them. Of course I don't want to actually do that, lets call this the nuclear option.
So can anyone think of a way to make an IMAP account for my gmail without it downloading all the messages again that I have already downloaded?

You should be storing everything on your computer and you should always backup your computer.  Have you failed to do these things?
If so, not good, then you can redownload some iTunes purchases in some countries.  Open iTunes store, click Purchased under Quick links

  • I have lost all of my music on itunes.

I have aton of music on itunes and now nothing shows up when I open itunes. Help!

What you have on your computer is an iTunes library, not an account.  Your "account" that relates to iTunes is your Apple ID.  The distinction is important, because you can sign in with your Apple ID to the iTunes Store, and re-download most previous purchases from the iTunes Store, at no cost.  From the iTunes Store Home screen, click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS.
Syncing with iTunes generally goes one way, from the computer's iTunes library to iPod.  You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to the iTunes library.
I have lost all of my Music, books from my ITunes account on this new computer.
NOTE:  If that new computer once had all of your content in its iTunes library at some point, and then you "lost" it for some reason, the media files may still be on the computer.
Look in your user home folder's Music folder.  In the Music folder, look in
/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/ - For song files, organized by Artist and Album.
    /iTunes/iTunes Media/Books/ - For books, etc...
If those iTunes media files are already there, but not in your current iTunes library, you can add them to your current iTunes library.

Now I'm using a brand new computer (Windows) and I have opened a NEW iTunes account, but I now I need to figure out if it is possible to recoup my music content that I originally had. I had, I believe around close to 300 songs on my account ;(......Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content.
