Itunessetup.exe removal

Yesterday I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. I am not very computer savy and the first time I attempted to install itunes last night I saved the 32 bit version of itunessetup.exe file on my desktop, when i tried to install it, an error message appeared saying i was downloading the 32 bit version and my system required the 64 bit version.
I couldn't worked out how to remove the itunessetup.exe file from my computer so I deleted it from my desktop and then deleted it from the recycle bin.
Was this the best way to remove the file? it was quite large maybe 89MB i don't want it clogging up my memory.
I have since downloaded the correct version of itunes without a problem, although reading other peoples comments I forsee a few further problems!

Was this the best way to remove the file?
Yep, that was perfectly fine. The iTunesSetup.exe is just an installer file (not a program file). So once you've done an install and don't need it any more, you can delete it just like you'd delete (say) a Word document you didn't want to keep a copy of.

  • ITunesSetup.exe won't download

The latest version of iTunes wouldn't update properly, so I followed the instructions on this site to totally remove iTunes and any associated programs, restarted my computer (Windows 7), and tried to download iTunes from scratch.  As soon as I click on the "Download Now" button, I get the "Thank you for downloading iTunes" screen.  THEN the dialog box opens to ask me if I want to save iTunesSetup.exe.  I click on "Save File", and the dialog box goes away.  That's it.  Nothing else happens.  I get no further confirmation that the installer has downloaded, and I can't find it on the computer ANYWHERE.
How do I force the installer to actually download?

That version is quite old now, though its fine if you don't have a device the requires a newer version for syncing or want to use the latest features. Should you want to bring things up to date howver, then for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Cannot locate iTunesSetup.exe

I was having problems accessing the iTunes store so I was told to un-install and re-install 10.
I removed ONLY iTunes and have been trying to re-install but I'm running into a slight problem.
After hitting download I'm given the option to save iTunesSetup.exe
    I click Save File.
The Downloads dialog box opens up and says the download has been canceled(I don't click anything to make it do this)
I then click on it to resume downloading.
It downloads completely and states all downloads have been completed.
The iTunesSetup.exe isn't anywhere to be found.
Not on desktop and not in my downloads folder. I've tried searching and nothing has come up.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Please explain more clearly.
What version of SQLDeveloper; what JDK; and what operating system?
Did you download the version which includes a JDK or not? If it did not include the JDK, you will be prompted to tell SQLDeveloper where the JDK is installed. is this happening? What happens when you do that?

  • Cant download iTunesSetup.exe

Cant download iTunesSetup.exe binary file(131 MB), just shows the "Thank You for downloading " page, but the file isnt downloaded.
I removed all iTunes completely due to the MSVCR80.dll missing.
I am using Windows Vista Ultimate, 32 bit Operating System. Also I am the admin for the account.

There seems to be something odd about the way the download is triggered on the iTunes download page. Firefox in particular doesn't seem to like it. Try clearing your browser's cache, changing pop-up blocker settings, using an alternate browser. or these direct links:
    iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit)
    iTunes64Setup .exe (64-bit)
I got the links by intercepting the download requests from Softpedia's iTunes page. If they don't work try going there. The files themselves are hosted at apple.com.

  • I cannot launch iTunesSetup.exe - unknown publisher

When I open iTunesSetup.exe after downloading it from the website there is warning message that the file does not have a valid digital signature & is from an unknown publisher. This is confirmed when right clicking the file & selecting properties. I have spent 2 hours on the phone with a helpful guy from Apple but have drawn a blank .Firewall has been turned off , Norton 360 removed , internet settings changed , temp file deleted , etc etc .
Norton have said that Microsoft may know what to do . Is anyone else having this problem ? Surely the file on the website cannot be faulty ?

The most common fix for this is to download the iTunesSetup.exe file from another router.
Or, if you are downloading from a wireless connection, try downloading from wired connection.
Here are just 2 examples where this was the fix for other folks

  • Trouble installing itunes -itunessetup.exe is not a valid win32 application

I have trouble installing itunes. The following message appears: C:\Documents and Setting\Owner\My Documents\ itunsSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I tried the following but I still have problems: remove previous version of itunes, remove quicktime, install again quicktime as a standalone, delete temporary files, restart computer, delete all itunes related files.

    Finally an answer from Apple:
    Dear Stefanie,
I understand that you're receiving an error when trying to open the iTunes
installer that you downloaded. I'd like to try to help you resolve this issue.
It appears that your web browser may be truncating your download of the iTunes
software. I urge you to try using a different web browser to download iTunes. If
this is not possible, you can also try using a different computer to download
iTunes, and then transfer the iTunes installer file (iTunesSetup.exe) to your
original computer and open it from there.
Some transfer options would include using your iPod to transfer the file via
hard disk mode, using a local network, burning a CD, using an external hard disk
or a USB drive, or even sending the file to yourself via email or over an
    instant messaging network.
I hope this information helps to resolve your iTunes installation issue. If it
does not and you still need assistance from Apple, you will need to call Apple
technical support (there may be a fee associated with the call). To find the
    appropriate phone number, please visit:

  • Itunessetup.exe wont open

    Hello,
I had been using iTunes version 8.2.0 i think and it worked fine with my ipod classic and music etc. when the version 9 update came i tried to update but it always got to about 70% and stop saying "Itunes+Quicktime" has a invalid signature.
I recently got an ipod touch so i needed version 9 to sync my itunes with it. itunes still always got that error when updating though so i uninstalled it and downloaded the new version from the apple website it seemed to download fine but when i went to open it to install. I got a prompt that it doesn't have a valid signature and may be dangerous software am i sure i want to install, i did yes and my computer acted like it was loading but then did nothing.
I have googled and went through all the forums related and have tried all the solutions ive found... empty temp files, temp internet files, restart, download thorugh different internet program, allow through firewall, etc. etc.
I really want my music and movies on my new ipod touch and would really like to listen to my music again if anyone has any advice on what i can do to get my itunes working again please help.
    Thank you, Jaggedrock

    Hey Paul,
Thanks for the advice and links.. i connected my computer straight to the modem but still get the same problem. From my friends computer i put the itunessetup.exe version 7.1 on a flashdrive and downloaded the newest version from his internet and put it on there also. the version 9 now has a "Itunessetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application" error.
The version 7 though did open good and install, but i cant open it cause my itunes library was created by a later version (8.2, my computers old itunes)
I tried to update now through my router and directly through my modem, but now when it looks for updates i get "The apple software update server could not be found. Check your internet settings and try again" i have internet good on both through my router and direct. Any advice on what to do now to fix it?
    Thanks, Jaggedrock

  • Itunessetup exe

I have had itunes previously installed on this computer, it was working fine until when it said it wasn't installed properly and some files were missing please reinstall. I Uninstalled everything to do with itunes and apple products as it had said on this site i then tried reinstalling but the itunessetup.exe won't unpack/install.
I have downloaded itunes ver 10.0.1 a few times from the apple/itunes website here but it won't unpack to install. I have also tried to do extract files from the itunessetup.exe but it says the file is corrupt.
When i double click the setup file a little bar comes up to show progress of the unpacking but it goes no further then a quarter of the way across.
I have deleted all temporary files like it said somewhere else on this site and still doesn't work.
No error messages come up at all

  • ItunesSetup.exe is not valid

I had i-tunes version 6 on my laptop and have just bought a nano-pod to transfer the music, but when I download version 7 (the nano pod won't recognise version 6) I get an error message:
    D:\mymusic\itunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
What can I do about this? What a waste of £170 if I can't actually get the music on the ipod...

See if this might help you with the issue.

  • ITunesSetup.exe not a valid WIN32 Application????

I've been deployed to Afghanistan for the past 13 months and have another 4 to go. I'm trying to download Itunes 7.0.2 and when I go to install it I get an error that reads ITunesSetup.exe is not a valid WIN32 application. What the **** does this mean. I only have a couple of days to get this fixed and my Ipod crashed with that RavMon virus lastnight. Anyone please help

I had the very same problem with installing, and have no idea what it means. I've searched all over support, and asked the very same question about 4 months back.
One odd thing about it, though. It didn't seem to make a difference when installing. The installer would get partially finished, and the error would appear. The installer would then start "rolling back actions" and when you would think it would close, it would start back up again. I have no idea why, but the installation completed normally, and my itunes works fine.
If it doesn't work the first time, try it a couple more times. That's what happened with me.
