Anyone know why in Australia, we are not allowed to purchase HD content without an Apple TV? I don't need an Apple TV with my laptop, and forthcoming Mac Mini, so why should I be forced to buy one just to get HD content from the store...

    I am assuming you got that message when attempting to post an old thread. The old post is probably locked/archived.
    FYI, posting on old threads usually yields no responses at all.

  • Calendar:  Why not allow freedom to set alerts on any date/time?

    Hypothetically speaking...
    A man's wedding anniversary is every July 29th, however his memory has failed to prepare himself for the date appropriately for the last few years.
    He recently added this date to his Iphone Calendar app, however it only allows him to alert the event the maximum of 2 days before. Why not allow the freedom to set alerts weeks in advance? Or perhaps allow alerts to be provided at any date/time you feel necessary?
    I feel this scenario, and many varieties of others would benefit to the availability of this feature within the Calendar app.
    I also have one additional recommendation for the app. If an event is considered an ALL DAY event and an alert is set as a reminder, this alert will go off at midnight since it 'technically' is the beginning of the day. Quite annoying in my opinion. Lets also have the availability to set the alert notification time for ALL DAY events.
    I look forward to Apple recognizing these innovative ideas and providing these additions to their next upgrade! THANKS!

    The recommendation is always to make another ID for use with a paid books account. And while I can't swear this is at the root of your issue, you should in any case reach out to Apple for assistance on this one, I think.

    If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
    Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.

  • Will not allow 3rd party flash content

    When I load a webpage that may have a flash player embedded video...I get the error message:
    Please click 'Allow 3rd Party Flash Content' in the Adobe Global Storage Settings page that will load when you click OK
    However, when I click OK and look at my settings, the "Allow 3rd Party Flash Content" box is already checked.  So, I'm not sure what to do to resolve this.
    I am using Firefox version 3.6.15 and Windows XP.

    Hi, I know some websites may have different requirements, but for some reason they don't seem to be recognizing your Settings. That or it is something else. I can't see why viewing a video would even require that. I've never UNchecked mine, so I don't know that for sure. Youtube videos use Flash Player thru the browser.
    Can you right click on the video and see if they are using their player?
    Do you have Windows Media Player Installed?
    In the FF plugins is the Shockwave Flash plugin enabled? It needs to be.
    Can you see the Flash Player logo animate (spin) here? What version of Flash player is displayed?  http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    Do you use any adblock?

       when through the portal to run the report, system pop up a log on screen, when type in userID amd password,then hit enter, the system pop up log on screen again. it not allowed me log in. I tried it many times, still same, log on screen pop up aigain and again. Could some one tell me why?

    Check the CAPS as it will be case sensitive.Make sure that password is not locked, Still problem persists ask basis person to reset your password.

    I don't think that debit cards are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined. You can try contacting iTunes support but I don't think that you will be able to use a debit card : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

    For the first time this evening in a little while I decided to try and rent a film via Apple TV. I selected my film and clicked rent and it stated my credit card had expired and I needed to update my details. So I have logged into ITunes to check my bank details and these are correct. Tried to rent the film again same issue again. This time I reset/ restored the Apple TV to factory settings and followed all the instructions all seemed to going fine but then tried to rent the film but this time it wants me to enter the 3 digit code for my old payment card. This seems to be the problem - Apple TV is not recognising my updated bank details - how do I get it to acknowledge it when they are correct on ITunes.

  • Why Would iTunes turn me off and not allow me to Purchase Content while outside the United States?

    I have been living outside of the USA for 7-months.  I have been purchasing and viewing content that is stored in my iCloud again without any issues.  Today, while attempting to purchase a movie I received an error message saying that I need to contact Support.  I chatted with a rather robotic Support Representative and after a 10 minute review of my account he stated 'all looks good on my end' then, he asked me to hold on for an additional few minutes and said that he could not tell me the reason why my account was 'frozen' but referred me to the iTunes terms and conditions.  I repeatidly asked what was wrong and he refused to answer me.  After a heated back and forth he referred me to Paragraph B in the terms and conditions and it states that content can only be used while in the USA or its possessions or territories.  I told the chat rep that I live in two countries and was curious how I would fix this situation.  The rep was mum and would not reply to me.
    Does anyone have any feedback?  I am unsure what the big deal is. I am paying for content and simply viewing it while traveling.  Why would Apple insist on such a requirement in this very global world we live in.

    They are part of the US store's terms (terms that you have agreed to) :
    The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance.
    (Other countries terms  will be similar)
    It's like that at the requirement of the content providers, they want control over where their content is available - each country therefore has to have its own store and you have to be in a country (and have a billing address in that country on your account) to use its store. That applies to both buying new content and redownloading past purchases.
    Have you not got a copy of all of your downloads on a backup ? There is no guarantee that any item will remain in the store for redownloading (you are only guaranteed one download of any item), a rights-holder could remove an item from the store at any time.
