hi all. i just downloaded mountain lion and it seems to have added an old password for admin at the start up, the old password was removed so all i had to do was press enter and off i go, i cant remember it, what to do now??

You can reset a Password (lost/forgotten) set on your Mac using 'Reset Password Utility' available with OS X Utilities tool. With OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Utilities tool can be generally found on a local hidden Recovery HD Partition if your Mac has one.
To check If your Mac has got a local hidden Recovery HD Partition, start your Mac holding COMMAND + R buttons. If you hold the keys pressed enough and there is a local Recovery HD Partition on your Mac, you will be presented with OS X Utilities window.
Click the 'Tool' menu item and choose 'Reset password'. Terminal window appears. Type 'resetpassword' into it and press 'Enter'. Reset Password window appears with User Account Names available on your Start-up Volume. Select the User Account Name and rest is simple to follow.
One of the advantages of this method is that it does not require any Authorization method such as administrative authentication to reset a password.
NOTE: If your Mac does not have a local hidden Recovery Partition on its system disk, you can create one using Disk Assistant application available from Apple. Search for the Disk Assistant in the support area. -

You showed a kernel panic file from OS X, apprantly Log Me In is installed into OS X or running when you log in.
You should be using the developers installer/unistaller to remove Log Me In from OS X.
Somehow it's in OS X, I don't know, but it's there and you need to remove it. I'm not dealing with Windows, just OS X.
Talk to Log Me In people and find out what is installed where so you can do a manual deletion out of OS X.
If that doesn't work, you have to reboot holding the Shift key down manually search for any Log Me In or Himachi files on your computer, in your System/Library/Extensions folder too, use the free Easy Find.

When I use the keyboard on my iphone 5, the keyboard takes a mind of its own. If I press a letter sometimes it puts the letter twice. It puts periods when I don't want it to and if I hesitate, the keyboard starts erasing everything I just typed. Is there a setting I need to change to make this go away?
What user troubleshooting have you tried? The user troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new. Usually a reset will fix most of the unusual actions by the device.

My husband and I use the same apple ID. I started using a new iPhone and deleted his contacts from my phone which has also deleted them from his phone. He hasn't backed up his phone but my iPad is backed to iCloud. Can I retrieve the contacts from this?
In preferences turn on iTunes sharing in iTunes preferences and keep iTunes turned on in both accounts. Or better yet put the iTunes library on the main HD rather than in an account and set the location of the library to that location in iTunes preferences.

Iv upgraded to ios 6 on my iphone4 and i can no longer listen to my bluetooth wireless headphones as the signal is now that poor it must be deemed in heaven cuz it no longer alive and kicking, i am not happy about this in the slightest infact its a ....... Liberty!! Iv spent lots of money on itunes for music and audiobooks and now i cant listen to them!!! Its definately not thr headphones the signal was fine with no problems at all before i updAted and now its a mockery.. Itsnot my headphones i have two sets still in the box tht i tested and its the same with them so sort it out apple
Okay, so I think I managed to fix this issue. For anyone having the same problem, I learned that you don't have to have the same Apple ID for iTunes as you do for the other things on the phone---I didn't realize there were separate logins. Helpful.
So I created an ID for my husband's phone. I logged into iCloud and FaceTime with that account. After doing so, the settings in Messages actually changed to look more like the ones I was seeing on my phone. So I then logged into iMessage with his new account (that option to log in was not even showing before!).
The Apple ID for iTunes is still appearing as the shared one, so we can hopefully still have joint use of our purchased items.
We shall see if it works when it comes time to receive a message or download an already purchased app, but it's looking promising -
I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails. This just started happening. I have an iPhone and I can send emails from my phone fine. It's just not working on my Macbook. Every time I try to send an email it goes straight to my outbox. Can anyone help?
Thank you for heading me in the right direction. I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information). I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)?? In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port: 465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer." Authentication: Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in. After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there.
What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.). The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587. Verify your account settings and try again." That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails. I guess my next step is to contact my email service provider, AT&T, and see if they can help me. Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond and for giving me your input! Much appreciated! -

i have just updated my iphone 4 16gb to an iphone 5 16gb
The iphone 4 had horrific problems, for example: Cutting out on calls, it going silent, me not being able to hear the person i was speaking to and them being able to hear me, and then visa vera.. also the main button at the bottom started to break.. my text messages weren't sending and then when they did they would send several of the same one.. also with mixed messages in them.. some of the texts had been form ages ago and had been deleted anyway and bits of them would re appear in the middle of the text, but only show to the person recieveing the text.
I thought all of this might have been some water damage as i had nearly had it for 2 years... However on Tuesday.. ( 29th Jan) i recieved my new upgrade of the iphone 5.. i was so excited, but then today.. 2 days after recieving it, its starting to do EXACTLY the same things my old phone did... cutting me off, going quiet on the phone, not sending texts, then sending several ones... sending mixed texts. Safe to say i am fuming!!! i am with vodafone and rang them today asking why?! they said it couldnt be my handset as its a new one, couldnt be the sim because thats new too so it must be the area signal.. so she checked for me.. came back to me and said that the signal in my area is perfectly fine....?!?!?! that makes it even worse!!! so i have asked to return it....!! i was going to go with a different provider thinking that it was vodafone??but after looking on here it seems like its apple? i am very disappointed as i love everything else about the phone, but its impossible to have a phone like this! especially when i use it for work too!My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

I'm having problems with excessive email usage on my iphone 4/ios 7. Just noticed that it (settings/usage) was using 900+ mb. I deleted all my mail, deleted the mail account, turned the phone off and back on, downloaded any remaining mail on the server to Outlook on my computer, and it still says it's using 661 mb. My ipad uses a fraction of that.
Background: I recently (December) bought an ipad and set up icloud for contacts and calendar, but NOT mail. My email provider is Verizon. I use computer, iphone, and ipad to check my email; eventually I download it from the server using Outlook on the computer and then delete any remaining emails from the phone and ipad. I can't find info on this problem anywhere.Howdy there COUGAR444,
It sounds like your iPad all of a sudden seems to be restarting out of no where. If you haven't called AppleCare yet, I would start with quitting either the app that seems to be causing the issue, or all the apps if a single doesn't seem to be the culprit.
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

I just got an apple at&t iphone 4 and I have it unlocked. But I want to connect it to t-mobile, so I trimmed my sim card and once the phone was unlocked I inserted the sim and it says no sim, activation error. What can I do to fix this? What is wrong?

I can't get rid of icons in Places -- according to the manual, you're supposed to be able to just drag them off and they go "Pouf!” and disappear. But no...
Just "ctrl" and mouseclick the desired icon and select "Remove from Sidebar" from the little pop up window.. That should do the trick (in your vertical "PLACES" column)
NB: if you want to get rid of icons on the top (horizontal) bar of your finder window, then you need to go to the item with the mouse, press "cmd" ("apple" key) and drag the icon off the finder window onto your desktop and let go (if you want the "Pouf!" effect -
My mac won't recognize an external monitor. The screen Goes Blue Once, then goes blue again and the second monitor just turns off. I am using an HDMI adapter to a visio TV. I also have my xbox on the tv. Can anyone Help??
Lol, figured out the first part. Just for those who may be searching, when you click on the Display Preferences, and click on the arraingment tab... it not only shows where your two screens will be displayed, but the WHITE BAR at the top of one screen is the dock/toolbar. Click and hold to grab this and just slide it over to the screen you'd like it to be on.
You have to release it IN the screen box, not on top of it... and it should pop right over to the new (or old) screen. At any rate, you can put the dock on either (or any) screen that you prefer.
I am thinking of ordering more of these. Lol. 3 monitor setup seems like it would be crazy good.
Still looking for the answer to keeping the new 16" screen on the right without switching between screen #s with that... not expose... Lion feature.

I have an app that I started to download. It is stuck in "downloading" and I cannot get it off my iPad. The "x" won't appear when I hold down on the app icon.
Boot off your iPad and turn it back on. Hold the button on the top until the "slide to power off" shows up. When you boot back up it will be gone and then you can re-install the app.

I recently got the iPhone 4s, but my iPod has a lot of apps with a lot of data on them and don't want to start over. I already synced my iPhone from the computer that had all my apps from my iPod, how do i transfer the data over, the other apps did. But some reason the app Clash Of Clans did not. Thank you.
If I wiped my phone I wouldn't have the contacts on my phone to send to my self. I would need to take just the contacts from my back up. I would have to do this through iTunes and I don't see how I can just extract the contacts only from my back up. From what I can figure out it is all or nothing

My new Iphone 5 clock alarm isnt going off where I can hear it. Its started on my 4S when I upgraded to IOS6 and even on the Itouch too. I set the clock alarm, turn on sound (not silent), the alarm goes off, but no sounds comes out. I have to reset home to get it to recognize its off, but that doesnt always work, it did it on both my Itouch and Iphone5 I almost over slept this morning because never of them went off and woke me up. Acted as it the sound was down (which it wasnt) and it was on silent mode (which it wasnt) Is there a bug with this? I cant trust my phone now to wake me up. Any help? Thanks Tracey
Same problem here. Me and my girlfriend swapped iphone 5's (she has white, I have black) in may and I rely on the alarm every morning to wake me up for work. It hasn't let me down.
A few days ago I set 2 alarms very early in the morning to wake me up for an early morning flight. Neither alarm made a sound & I missed the flight!!
We then swapped our phones back & she has just had exactly the same thing happen & has missed an important meeting at work. Again, quite an early morning alarm. The odd thing is I have a black iphone 5, also latest OS, never had this happen to me...
Has anyone solved this problem. I can't make it repeat (reset the same alarm for a different time & it goes off fine).
Does I need to buy her a dedicated alarm clock!?!

A black bar comes up on my file names when opening a file
