have recently brought an apple macbook but have accidently deleted ichat av and dont know how to get it back..can i download it?
ps its not in my rubbish/ recycle bin

Have you looked in the application's folder to see if it's there.
How did you delete it.

1 - the restore disks that came with the computer
or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
or
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

Did you really delete it intentionally or accidentally? If you accidentally deleted the application from the Applications folder, look if it is still in the Trash and put it back or restore it from your backup.
If you deleted it intentionally and deinstalled it, you need to reinstall it - depending on how it was installed originally, see Terence Devlin's answer here:

You can recover it if you made a backup after the note was created and prior to your deleting it. If not, I'm afraid it's gone.

Lost iChat somehow how do i get it back in the system

I am a newbe for mac. I had a msn messenger update and i downloaded it for the im, and when it finished it showed a ? in the middle of the iChat icon. I clicked on it and nothing happened. I got out of MSN and came onto mac said and the iChat icon was gone. I can not find it on the system. I go to finder then apps and look at the apps on the system and it show no ichat. I search for it and nothing comes up. What happened and how can I get it back.
It has been a great change since I came to mac and have enjoyed it far more than i did when i had my PC. Any help will be appreciated.

Wow I really didn't think it was worth submiting my question didn't know anybody would answer but I'm wrong. Sorry I didn't leave much info anyway I'm up to date with my os and I was using clean my mac to clean up my computer I accidently deleted mac app store and how that started I bought labtop used supposivly it was cleaned but anytime I needed an install it would ask for someone else's apple is and password I tried everything a new guy could including bringing it to someone who wanted 200.00 for a reinstall witch is free so I figured I can do it well I did the command r. And followed instructionss well got to the end and it asks me for an apple id witch has purchased maverick os. So am I gonna have to pay to reinstall ?????

iChat is discontinued, Messages replaced it. You should be able to use your iChat account/s in Messages.

Accidentally deleted mail app: How do I get it back?

Today I somehow managed to delete my mail app -- it's totally gone. I can't find a way to get it back. Anyone know how I can reinstall it? I tried a fresh reinstall but it seems to remember my last setting with it gone. I have an iPhone 4.

It is not possible to delete any of the apps included with the firmware/OS. None of the apps included with the firmware/OS are available as a separate download and install because it isn't necessary.
If you are unable to locate the app within any folder on any home page, on your iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Home Screen Layout.
