Ive had this shuffle since October..why isnt it responding to my computer

I got this ipod shuffle on october 4, 2005 (from wal-mart). I installed everything.. and it worked great... So why isnt it working now? Usually when you connect your shuffle to the computer, the little light comes on, and then iTunes automatically appears. About a week ago (today is december 28, 2005), i connected my ipod like I ususally do, but no light came on, and no itunes appeared. So i decided to take it out and put it back in. Nothing happened. I tried to use a different USB port, and nothing happened. I did all of the 5 R's a NUMEROUS amount of times, and nothing happened. I then upgraded it, and nothing happened! I got so furstrated that i uninstalled ipod and itunes altogether, waited a few hours, and then installed it again (with the CD-ROM that came with my ipod). IT STILL DID NOT WORK. So i then decided to buy a USB 2.0 4-Port Hub thinking that it would make my shuffle work.... and i still got nothing. I then decided to install itunes on ANOTHER one of my computers (which was recently updated to windos xp) and nothing worked (i also used my USB 2.0 4-port hub on that too).
I dont get it, my iPod shuffle plays all my music correctly and in the right order, but when i connect it to my windows xp, it doesnt work. the light doesnt come on or anything. and it seems like my computer doesnt detect it. It worked fine before, so why not now???? Can Someone Please Help Me!! im really kind of attached to my iPod and soon i wont be able to play it anymore (the battery will soon run dead, its already orange!)... I really want to/ need to fix it, I mean, it cost me $99! IM STUCK! HELP PLEASE!

Music cuts out after a few seconds or goes straight back to menu since I downloaded iTunes 11. Never had this problem since I bought apple tv 2 years ago.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

HT202663 Tonight I am having problems keeping my wifi in use when I go into an app. I go in an sign back in to my wifi and it stops again when I go into an app. Have not had this problem until today. Have had my iPad since October. Please help.

I have never had this problem before. I have moved closer to the router and it still does it.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. HT3159 When I double click on IPhoto to open and look at my photos the APP store trys to open it. I never had this issue before. Why now?

I was using IPhoto looking at creating a Book when I uploaded the book for purchasing the site froze. I stopped the upload turned off computer and when I restarted the computer IPhoto dissappeared. I called Apple and the lady talked me through restoring IPhoto. She found it in the trash.It worked fine for a day or two, I uploaded more photos from Nikon camera closed IPhoto and now it won't open. The App Store trys to open it but it times out and won't connect.
When I double click on IPhoto to open and look at my photos the APP store trys to open it. I never had this issue before. What do I do?

Try dragging a photo to the desk top, highlight it and press COMMAND I this will open the info window, in the drop down menu "open with" select either preview, or other, then select iPhoto. Preview is the default.
Then click "Change All"

Why do I have download issues all of a sudden: black scrren, no video,audio, visual, just a black screen. It's happened 3 times in the past two weeks! After two downloads, it was still an issue. At least iTunes gave me a refund, but this is frustrating because I like to download and watch films and tv shows! Thanks for any helpful feedback. iTunes reps don't tell me why there is a problem. They just issue a refund and send me on my way!

It is easy enough to try. Drag the MacKeeper.app to the trash. It should pop-up a message asking if you really want to delete. You do. I doubt that's it. I've had it since 08 and Pages, Keynote and Numbers were all there and in full working order for years. I did upgrade my OS. But that was a few months back and I've used these applications since then. I don't know why I would have to repurchse iWork after 3 years.

I am not resetting firefox just to fix orange button. Menu bar disabled still no orange button. Have had this problem since upgrading to 20.0

Firefox orange button has been missing I upgraded to 20.0. I have since installed the next update as well, still no fix on orange button. Research suggested disabling menu toolbar (which is not a solution for me) I tried this, still no orange button. Another recent development is with the all in one sidebar... The only icons showing are "Display you bookmarks," and Google Lite. The buttons are still there, just no identifying information; no icon, no text.
I will not reset firefox, to do this would require more time than I can give. I would switch back to Google Chrome if that is truly my only option. I have been using Firefox for 2 years, switching back would be most undesirable.

Go into your operating system and find a folder whose name ends with Previews.LRDATA. Delete this folder. Don't delete anything else, just the folder named as I said.

Never mind sorted it out lol. Somebody did a system restore of a week or so. I had done the update during that time and it was lost. Just redownloaded itunes from the internet and its working fine now.

Yosemite is locking my keyboard! When I start or retrieve a document the mouse will operate and I can highlight a word in Word but the keyboard will not type. I have had this start since the very first opening after updating.

I open a document to edit in Word 2013 (which shows as Word 2008) and try to save the document as a different one. The optical mouse on my MacBook Pro operates normally. Then I make the corrections as try "Save As". The screen opens and I can navigate to the folder and press "Open". I give it a name and the summary page opens to the text lines and I try to give it a new title. The keyboard does not respond and I have to cancel. I have automatic updates on and I get no update messages from Apple of Microsoft.
Anyone else havng same issues? This misspelled word will not correct by using the old method of right clicking and getting suggested corrections. it highlights but will not correct nor can I place the cursor on the exact place in the word (between the V and the n) to insert the missing "i".

Microsoft released Office for Mac 2011 update 14.4.5 for Yosemite compatibility. They are not motivated to do so for Office for Mac 2008, as it is an unsupported, end-of-life product.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
