Ive just restored to factory settings, what do i need to download?
I have just restored my imac to its orginal settings. (Its Version 10.5.8) What do i need to download in order to get it back up to the current software etc. Everything I have tried so far has been a disaster! Thanks anyone for the help!!
Hi, thanks for your help .... unfortunatley I cant get the app store. To explain what happened: I had a partition on my hard drive (divid into two) I was running out of space so I restored the computer to factory sttings ... however, the hard drive still remained partitioned, so I was able to delete one half and make 'one single hard drive space.'
So where im at now is: I cant seem to install anything, I tried downloading and installing:
MacOSXUpd10.6.8 but it comes up saying : "This update requires Mac OS X version 10.6."
This is VERY frustrating, im not a tech whiz, so even explaining what has happened is difficult!
What do you suggest I do? Thanks, Jason

Thankshave you backed up in the past with iTunes or iCloud? If so, it is possible that you will not lose this information, but I cannot guarantee anything.
Check for backups in iTunes by going to Preferences > Devices > Device backups
If you do not see any, and your iPad is still in working order, check for iCloud backups in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup

You can't erase a volume while booted from it. Start up from the installation DVD, erase the volume, and reinstall.

Help !! I had a problem with my iPad 2 this morning which resulted in me taking into the apple store and them restoring it to factory settings. They advised me to restore all my apps etc from iTunes which I am trying to do, however once connected via the USB I cannot see it as a device on iTunes, and I keep getting the message on my laptop "the iPad cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later, go to iTunes.com/uk and download the latest version"

Ive just restored my iphone but it wont let me activate it now, either by wi-fi or through itunes. what do i do?
I just bought the phone off ebay and it was working fine before I tried to update it. This is when the problems started. Firstly, it wouldnt update because it said there was something wrong with the iphone, so i chose to restore it as there was nothing on the phone anyways. After I restored it, its saying there is no sim inserted and it wont let me activate it. I really need help with this.Try again now. I had the same issue this morning with my phone. After a restore it said it could not activate and to try again later.
If you try again and it doesn't work, click the home button and edit your WiFi settings. Forget all networks and start the activation again.
Instead of entering any WiFi details this time, scroll to the bottom and click "Connect to iTunes".
This is what I did and it activated for me.
**EDIT** Sorry, I missed the part about the missing sim. Mine did not say that. It just said "your phone could not be activated at this time. try again later" -
Is there an easier way other than restoring to factory settings and starting over?
Open itunes, connect ipod, select what you want, sync.
No need to restore. Just sync. It will erase the current content and replace with the content of the new computer. -

to restore the factory settings?Restoring to factory settings, does just that... your iPhone will be like it was when new and not activated, i.e. everything will be wiped off the phone.

Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. Does anyone know what "other" means in the sync summary bar? I have 850mb using storage space in my iphone and can't understand what that is. I have tried to delete everything, restore to factory settings and change the icloud account. Thanks.

tried to update my i phone 4s, now the phone isnt going on unless i restore to factory settings. The screen is just showing a usb and arrow to I Tunes, it also says if i restore i will lose all media, which hasnt been backed up recently. Any answers?
It's in recovery mode. Anything that was on the phone and not already backed up is already gone. You have no choice but to restore.

My ipod jumps from one screen / app to another on it's own. Sometimes I can't unlock or even shut off. I've tried the reset, I've tried back up, even tried restoring to factory settings and is still having problem. Any ideas of what I can do.
When you still have the problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem and an appointment a th Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I've update my iPad to iSO6. Now saying connect to iTunes, which is saying my iPad in recovery & to restore to factory stting & all media & data will be ereased. I DOT NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN. What can I do?
You have no choice now. Unless you want a brick for an iPad. After you restore to factory settings you can restore from your backup ..... And you do backup don't you? I would never update the iOS software without backing up first. After you restore from the backup, sync with iTunes again and you should be OK. Assuming that you do sync with iTunes .....
