Ive not used my mac in a while and have completely forgotten my password. How do I log in?

I need to get back on my mac as I have been using a company PC for a while . However i have completly forgotten what my password is and so cannot log on. Cna anyone give the idiot guide to getting round this.

There are different ways to reset your password depending on the Mac OS X version you are using.
If it's Leopard or Snow Leopard, see "Resetting your original administrator account password" > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274
If it's Lion or Mountain Lion, try resetting the password with your Apple ID following the steps of the link above. If it doesn't work, reset the password using OS X Recovery > http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

It is less than a year old and as I said, I don' t use it all that much

My best bet would be to restore the phone. Back it up to itunes, and then reset it Factory settings. This way, any corrupt software will be removed, and you can start fresh. Make sure you back it up first. By the sounds of it, you are using the phone for business and probably need the data from it. Hope this helps!

I use my MacBook Pro all the time when downloading something from the iTunes store without losing my connection. If you would probably depends on the general stability of your WiFi or LAN connection, but you should not.
Also, if a download should get interrupted you can always start it again by going to "Downloads" in iTunes.

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

Which os version are you using? It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions. As well as the version of Mail you are using which you also did not mention.

The beeps could be caused by something as simple as a loose internal wire or connection. If it is under warranty (not sure how long that is, as WD drives range from 1 to 5 years depending on the model's series - I think "my passport" drives are 3 years) you could contact WD and ask them about it.
If it is out of warranty, you could also try opening the case and check the connections - the drive may be fine, and there have been posts on TomsHardware forums of people getting the beeps, opening up the case and the drive is fine, just some wire worked loose.

Have you tried booting from the Recovery HD to reinstall Lion?
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
You will need the Apple ID and password used to purchase Lion. If you have not purchased Lion, then you will need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard then update it to 10.6.8 to access the App Store where you can purchase and download Lion under your own Apple ID. Or you can purchase the Apple USB Lion installer flash drive at any local Apple retailer or the Online Store.

Reboot your Mac, as soon as you hear the chime press the option/alt key and hold it until the boot manager appears, select OSX to boot from.

Are you watching this content though iCloud or though from iTunes on your local computer? If it is from iCloud have you tried downloading the content to iTunes and watching it on ATV from that source to see if it still happens? This is geerally a much more reliable way to view the content. Easer to fast forward and rewind too.

Have you checked your wireless rounter? Tried doing the factory restor on it? Upgrading it's firmware? Is it and or ATV getting extreamly hot when this problme happens?
