IViews opening up in "closed" mode.

Hello All,
As a business requirement some IViews in our portal requires to be opened in a "closed" or "minimized" state. This was easily done, because we can configure this in the IView properties.
But I noticed that once we maximime (or open) one such IView, the portal "remembers" that state. So much so that when a user logs in again, the IView opens up in the "open/maximized" state.
Is there any way in which we can stop E.P from "remembering" the current state (open/closed) of the IView?

Hi All,
The Hiding/Displaying iView Content is a Personalization option of the User. So if the user changes the state then it is changed for this user for ever.

The only way to get around this is to clear the personalization for the user.

The fact that I uninstalled Bridge and reloaded it has me concerned as to what to do next.?

You need to force quit all other (real or fake) instances of the Application Manager.  Instructions differ between Mac or Win.
A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.

  • Can't open photos in edit mode

I can;t open photos in edit mode in iPhoto '08. When I double click on a photo the main window remains blank (no "!" no"?"). This problem occurs with every photo in the library. My permissions are OK. I've also tried setting the preferences to edit in Photoshop but double clicking on the photos then still accomplishes nothing.

    Steve:
Do you get a blank white window in the edit mode? If so that may mean you do not have access to the files. Try the following:download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
    FYI:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Lid closed mode--ntsc and pal

I used to be able to put my MBP's display onto a TV using lid-closed mode and the Apple DVI-video adapter. I was changing my TV's resolution to something slightly higher, clicked the wrong setting (set the display mode to PAL), and now whenever I use lid-closed mode (or when I use boot camp to boot into windows XP) my TV (NTSC) does not work. It only does this in lid closed mode, and I've reset the PRAM to try to fix it. I can't see the TV display in PAL mode, so I can't change it back to NTSC. Please help!!! Should I reset my PMU or use some EFI command?
15" MBP   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   using composite video on dvi-tv adapter (ntsc)

I recommend running both the MBP (lid open) and the TV at the same time in screen spanning mode (not mirror mode). In this way, you should have complete control over the TV's Display Preferences settings from the screen on the MBP. Make sure you have the "Show displays in menu bar" check box clicked in Display Preferences. You should be able to restore the old settings you were using for your TV with this technique.
Once you get your old settings restored, you can go back to using just the TV with the MBP lid closed again.

  • Cisco ISE 1.2, Clients not getting IP address in closed mode

Hello, I am running closed mode on my switchports. I have an issue where some clients come in in the morning, try to login, and will not get network access. I see that this is because they do not get an IP address. I am using MAB for authentication currently. They appear to MAB correctly and get Authorized in ISE, but they do not get an IP. Therefore, they also do not get the DACL of permit ANY. It's like the port gets de-authenticated during the night. Usually when the machine is rebooted it will come up with an IP address. • 'authentication control-direction in' in authentication CLOSED mode

Switch: 4510R+E, running a DEV version based off 3.6.0
    ISE: 1.2.0.899 patch 7
Hi, I have been working on a weird issue where some of my clients would randomly drop their IP address and the only way I could get it back was to move their port to authentication open mode. I need to run in closed mode because I change VLANs via MAB.
I have been working with TAC, and they suggested I add the command 'authentication control-direction in' to my switchport config (below). With the couple tests Ive done, this seems to help. But I would like to understand why. Doesn't the control-direction command somewhat nullify the premise of running in closed mode? I.E. It allows some communication before the device is authorized. Thanks.
    interface GigabitEthernet2/18
     switchport access vlan 34
     switchport mode access
     switchport voice vlan 66
     logging event link-status
     authentication event fail action next-method
authentication event server dead action authorize vlan 34
authentication event server dead action authorize voice
authentication event server alive action reinitialize
     authentication host-mode multi-auth
     authentication order mab dot1x
     authentication priority dot1x mab
     authentication port-control auto
     authentication violation restrict
     mab
     dot1x pae authenticator
     dot1x timeout tx-period 10
     service-policy input QoS-Input-Policy
     service-policy output QoS-Host-Port-Output-Policy
    end

I also needed to use this command to keep devices authenticated. It was happening with a CCTV system that was an embedded Linux OS. It was on MAB and because it wasn't transmitting any traffic (unlike a noisy windows box) then the switch wouldn't be able to reauth it as it had no mac address to be able to auth, so would show up with an 'unknown' in the MAC field.
Basically it allows traffic to flow out of the port. This enabled the device to be able to receive HTTP traffic and made it respond and then the switch could auth it again once the device sent a frame.
when you do a show authentication sessions you will notice a Oper control dir: both will change to Oper control dir: in

  • Resuming sleep from lid-closed mode?

Sorry if this has already been answered, but searching through the manual and 34 pages of previous posts didn't turn up anything.
When I get to work, I connect my MBP (in sleep mode) to my external monitor and then to my usb keyboard/mouse, which triggers the computer to wake up and go into lid-closed mode. I work all day with the lid closed.
The problem is that when I'm ready to leave at the end of the day, I cannot just disconnect everything and resume sleep mode for the transport home.
If I go to Apple/Sleep, it'll go to sleep for 1-2 sec, then re-enter lid-closed mode. If I unplug everything, then the computer stays in lid-closed mode and won't go to sleep. The only way to get it back into sleep mode is to disconnect everything and open up the lid, wait for the display to come on, then close it again. Time consuming measures like this clash severely with my impatience at getting out of the office.
Any tips on how to re-sleep from lid-closed mode without having to open the lid? Thanks in advance.

My impatience was my own undoing. Upon further testing, once the magsafe is disconnected, the laptop begins the routine to go to sleep. I'm a very happy camper now...don't have to open the laptop at all, and I get to reduce the rate of dimming of my laptop screen.

  • In Firefox 29 center clicking at the top of a tab in a maximized window will open a previously closed tab instead of closing the tab you clicked

In Firefox 29 center clicking at the top of a tab in a maximized window will open a previously closed tab instead of closing the tab you clicked.
Is this this the intended behavior? And if so is there any way to disable it?
    Thanks

Middle-clicking a tab closes it, while middle-clicking an empty area of the tab bar opens a new tab.
Different behavior is probably caused by a tab-related add-on like Tab Mix Plus. If you're not sure if you have such an add-on, restart Firefox with add-ons disabled and check if the problem still occurs.

  • Possible to disable closed clamshell (display closed) mode?

I would like to disable the closed clamshell (display closed) mode on my MBP, where you can run the computer with its lid closed if it's attached to an external monitor. I don't ever do this (I use the MBP screen as a second monitor), and this option causes my computer to randomly wake up if I turn off/on my office lights, or accidentally press a button on my usb keyboard or mouse.
I know there is no option to turn this off in the System Preferences, but is there a terminal hack that can do this?
    Thanks!

If I understand you correctly, you don't close your display (because you use it as a second monitor) and sometimes you put the machine to sleep with its display open. But turning your office lights on or off wakes the computer from sleep (which certainly indicates an electrical problem in the office wiring or lighting, and one that can't be good for your computer). And of course hitting any key on the keyboard wakes the computer too, exactly as it's supposed to do. If I understand all this correctly, what if anything does it have to do with clamshell mode, and what particular aspect(s) of clamshell mode do you think you need to disable, and why?
While you're thinking that over, I recommend connecting your computer's AC adapter to a high-quality surge protector or an uninterruptible power supply that features power filtering.

  • Simulate lid closed mode

Do you know if is possible to use a software utility to simulate the lid closed mode for use with external display?
I would like to use my macbook pro only with external display without close the lid, is possible?
    Thanks

    I have two suggestions:
    - If you close the lid and then wake up the Mac with a USB device like a mouse or a USB flash memory drive or some other USB device, then only the external screen will be active. Once the external screen comes on, you can open the lid and the internal screen will remain off. You have to have the MBP power adapter plugged in for this to work.
    - You can also use a small magnet to simulate a closed lid. Just place the magnet on the right edge of the plam rest over the area that is above the security port on the right side. This will make the MBP think the lid is closed.

  • Clamshell (display closed) mode

    Hi,
I am using clamshell (display closed) mode from a while after a recommendation from someone in the discussion (many thanks!). It is great for my needs, but the thing is sometimes it is hard to start this mode. I find myself trying several times to make it works opening the macbook and closing it. Is there any special key or something to start it up for sure in the first shot?
i have a macbook pro + external aluminium keyboard + samsung syncmaster 2263 UN
    thanks,
How to use your computer in closed clamshell (display closed) mode with an external display

Thanks Malcolm - I guess there isn't a solution to this problem unless some cooperate entity steps up to the plate and in this economy I don't see that happening. So, 5 to 7 years down the road someone will win a lawsuit and all of us consumers will get some type of rebate or other incentive that won't make up for the problem. Thanks for the links to the articles.....

  • SRM iViews open in New Window instead of Portal Content Area

    Hi folks,
We are implementing SRM 7.0 business package on our Enterprise Portal 7. By default, all the SRM iViews open in a New Window. But, when I change the iViews to open in the Content Area, only the first iView that I try to open will open in the Content Area. All the remaining ones start opening in a new window with header. When reached out to SAP, they told me to disable the Work Proctect Mode. I tried that as well and still no luck. Please let me know if you guys have any idea how to make all the iViews open in the Content Area invariably. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Have Pinned site shortcut open in full screen mode (not maximized)

Hello.  I'm currently in the testing phases of migrating all of our users from a locally installed client version of their email to a web version of their email.  I'd really like the webmail version to look more like an application than a website.
Is there any way to make the pinned site shortcut (not all sites) open in full screen mode when double clicked?  Another wish list item would be for the URL field to be removed from it as well.  Chrome provides this functionality by making a site
into an application, but then any link you click on within your email opens up in Chrome and thats a deal breaker for me.  Does anyone know if this is possible in internet explorer 9?  Thanks in advance

any way to make the pinned site shortcut (not all sites) open in full screen mode when double clicked?
I think it does which is a surprise.  E.g. if you last closed an IE window in Fullscreen mode it can open up again in Fullscreen mode.  This may be in response to user complaints about Maximized mode which would still be a problem because that
is the OS doing.  However, even there it has always been possible to open a window from a shortcut in Maximized mode.  The problem is that any windows spawned from that one will have the original window's Normal mode attributes in terms of size and
    shape.

I am trying to programatically alter the build number global variable. I open a VI reference to global.vi form a seperate vi which has no stact linkage to the global.vi and i have altered the values programatically but when i use invoke node for "Make current values default" it complains that the vi is not in editable mode. How do i make it work?
    Thanks,

I found the bug immediately after posting here. I had a static linkage to the global.vi in the type conversion for "build".

Use VI Server. Open a reference to the VI, and set the front panel open
    property to true.

That is not possible. You could use an empty VI template (.vit). Open it,
and when the user is done, he is asked to save it under a different name.
    > Finally, if the file in edit mode is closed, can I detect it by any event
    cases.
Use dynamic event registeration. When you have a reference to the VI, wire
it to a dynamic event registration node, and select the panel close event.
Then use an event structure to catch the event.
