Ivory piano.. need it, but my install disks are back in paris... help?

so I have ivory piano on my G5.. but I'm on the other side of the planet. I put all the ivory items on my FW drive and brought my stickers with my authorization or serial numbers on it. I figured that since I'd be needing the intel version for the laptop, I would just download it, link it to the ivory items that I already have, authorize it for this machine and then I'd be away with it. so I didn't bring the original DVDs.
I went to the synthogy site, it looks like no matter what, I have to install it first from the original DVDs. I'm hoping I am wrong...
are there any ivory users out there that can help out with this? have I missed something? I really hope i don't have to get someone to go into my place in paris and dig around for the discs and mail them to me....
cheers..

hi rohan,
yep I know about needing to update the sound library to work with intel. I have all of that here, the entire ivory items folder, on my FW drive.. the only thing I don't have is an installer to install the plug in itself. I had assumed that seeing as the version I need for this machine is the UB one, that I'd be able to just download that and install it. then, when it asks where ivory items is, I'd tell it, then I'd authorize with the serial number I brought with me and it would be fine.
however, none of the installers I have found and tried at the synthogy site seem to work. I run them and they say there is an error, I am guessing because they are probably just updaters looking for an already installed ivory. it's not 100% clear on the website (these things never seem to be), but it looks to me like it says you have to install in the first instance from your original disc, then you can upgrade after. this of course will be a major PITA if it turns out to be the case..
I'll contact synthogy. but I was hoping I was wrong and that someone might chime in and say, no all you need to do is bla bla etc etc and it will work..
anyway thanks for your answer.. I have a feeling I am going to have to get someone to UPS me some discs..

You have an 24" Early 2008 iMac. It came with Mac OS X 10.5, and you would need the disk set for your specific model. It's possible that if you call Apple Support, they can still sell you a set, but that model of iMac is no longer supported by Apple so Support may not be able to help. If not, then you'll need to look to private sellers or companies that sell obsolete software.
You can also call the online Apple Store and purchase a retail copy of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
    Regards.

  • My computer came with Lion but no install disks, how can I do a reinstaller DVD ??

This is only part of my problem.
My computer came with Lion but no install disks, I would love to have a disaster recovery DVD just in case, The is the LionDiskMaker script that says it would do it for Lion and Mountain Lion but when I tried, It did not find what it needed to create such a DVD.
On the other hand, when I replace my MacBookPro last october, the lady at the Apple Store online used my gmail adress instead of my videotron.ca adress... So now, I have a dual identity, one that owns a MacBookPro and the other that has done business with Apple for ages.
    So :
         1. Can I unify my 2 Apple ID ??
         2. Can I get a kind of installer of Lion without paying the price ??
    Yours truly,
    Binaire101

You need to download and save the Lion and/or Mountain Lion installer app.
    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
Unfortunately, the link for getting specific hardware versions has disappeared. So basically:
Get yourself a spare hard drive freshly erased or with a freshly erased partition of around 8 GBs or more.
Boot to your Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion from the main menu.
From the beginning screen select your spare partition/drive as the target destination then begin the download.
At the end of the download you will observe an Install button for you to click. Now this is important - as soon as that gadget appears you must abort the installation process. There are only two reliable ways to do this quickly: a. yank the cable for the drive from the computer; b. pull the power on the computer - shut it down quickly.
This will result in your finding a folder on the drive that contains InstallESD.dmg that you can now use to create a bootable USB flash drive installer based on the special build for your model. Use it until the next public release of Lion appears or you move on to Mountain Lion.
If you do not stop the download process immediately upon its completion you will end up with an installer that always boots to a non-functioning installation progress window instead of the normal main menu.

  • How many install disks are in FCP 5.0?

I just ordered a new macbook pro and have to install my FCP on it. However I think my install disks are not complete and I only have the Motion 2 disk. Is there a Motion 1 disk? I can't remember.. please let me know!
    Thanks,
    Anna

If you're going to be running an IntelMac, you'll need to upgrade at least to version 5.1 (universal version) for it to run properly.

  • Trying to reinstall tiger but no install disk

i think my parents threw out my install disk when i moved. no one can find it now. is there any way to reinstall the os without a disk?

Yes, it may be the best method, it is quick and simple. (EDIT: Of course you'll have to re-install all third party software) But I would back up your entire /Users folder. There may be other information there you'll need. Make your backup before you do another thing.
i want to do this because my machine has been acting up ever since i installed about a billion fonts on it last year.
Have you tried dragging ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts folder to the desktop and restarting? (Assuming that is the folder that you installed your Fonts to)
If you re-install (after getting your new disks) don't forget to apply the 10.4.9 PPC Combo Update. And remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
    Good luck

  • Need iMac 5,1 install disk

My late 2006 iMac intel is working with boot camp, but has lost the Mac side volume information.  Tech Tool Pro 4 tests all show everything is find but has no Volume info.  I can launch Boot Camp with Window XP and all works fine.
I was  hopping to re-install the orginal system to recover, but I can't find the Orignal disk.  All other Install disks i have can't be read by the optical drive or get error "can't be installed"
Any thoughts on recovering the lost Mac Volumn info?
    Jim...

Call apple customer service. They may have a replace disk.

  • During the installation of Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista, I received an error message saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Are administrative privileges necessary to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista?

The happens when I attemp to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on a classified network. Initially when I try to install Firefox 4.0, a screen comes up saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Then when I cancel my logon username/password administrative screen, the installation process lets me continue and I can install the Firefox 4.0 software. I would like to know if Firefox 4.0 might encounter problems later on a classified network if Im able to install the software initially.

hello, when this is happening after you've already updated firefox with your admin account, try to delete the ''updates'' folder and ''active-update.xml & updates.xml'' within the %localappdata% folder of your restricted account like it is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update#Software_Update_not_working_properly

  • When I try to send email from my iPad and iphone it says that I have the incorrect username and/or password, but I know they are correct, can someone help me?

When I try to send email from my iPad and iPhone it says that I have the wrong username and/or password, but I know they are correct.  Can someone help me?

"Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.

  • Very sick Macbook Pro OS v 10.6.8 - initially running slow so I tried backing up to Time Machine and reloading the OS but the install disk failed. I was able to recover from the Time Machine back up but many applications are not working properly. Help!

I am also no longer able to back up using Time Machine (backups fail), can't access iPhoto (which was a problem before attempting to reload OS) and I suspect other apps are no longer working. The computer is however running faster in Safari and Mail...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If there are any files you can transfer to  a regular storage drive do that first and then disconenct all drives.
Hold c boot off the 10.6.8 disk and use Disk Utility to Erase with Zero option the hard drive, takes some time, let it complete as it's mapping off any bad or failing sectors.
Then install 10.6. log in and update to 10.6.8 (important!)
Now use Migration Assistant to transfer over just your user files, we need to rescue those first out of TimeMachine's EVIL clutches, once you've got that, transfer them to the regular storage drive and disconnect.
Note: if your 10.6 disk fails, call Apple for a replacement, you need the machine specific version, the 10.6.3 retial doesn't have iLife and only works for machines pre 10.6.3 release, not afterwards. Factory installed 10.6.4 machines and afterwards need machine specific disks.
    Then either:
Log into the admin/first set up user on the machine and delete the Migrated user, then reboot and use Migration assistant again to TM everything this time
    Or
Just install all your programs again from fresh sources.
If your TM drive is really hosed, then you'll need Data Rescue $99 to read the TM files directly and transfer the results to another regular storage drive (not the first one just in case), then pick through the debris and locate your files and transfer them to another drive.
I don't like TimeMachine, but for newbies it's better than nothing.
(I prefer cloning my entire OS X parititon instead, I can access it from any computer (Linux, Mac or PC) and I also can boot my Mac from it. I use Carbon Copy Cloner, but that's for later once your all better. )

  • IPod updated, but now iTrip stations are gone...HELP!

When I updated my iTunes to the newest one, all of my songs and the iTrip stations disappeared. I found my songs on my computer, but I can't find my iTrip stations and I can't find the disc from when I first installed it. Any suggestions? Is there some site that I can download the iTrip stations? Or am I completely out of luck?

I'm sorry, but I do not know how to get your stations back, although I'm sure you can.
However, you do not need the stations for the iTrip to work (although I do know that sometimes you do need to change the station).

  • Events disappeared from my calendar and I need to know how to get them back. Please help!

When I merged my calendar to iCloud all of my events that weren't repeated disappears and all the other events messed up. Is there a way to fix this, preferably not using itunes on the computer. Thank you!

Synced photos can't be deleted directly on the device - instead they are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing.

  • I have an old iMac that won't boot up anymore.  I have the OS X install disks but I can't get it to boot from these disks.  No need to save anything.  Any suggestions?

I have an old iMac.  Not sure of the operating system but the install disks say OS X.  The computer will not boot anymore and all I keep getting is to restart and when I do I keep getting the same message.  I do have the install disks but I can't get the computer to install, or for that matter, read the disks.  I would like to rebuild the computer from these disks so that I can continue to use this computer.  There is no need to save anything on the computer as I backed it up months ago.  Any suggestions as to how I can save this computer and not have to recycle it?

Really need to know what version of OS X it is currently running, and what version you are trying to install.
