IWDEventHandlerId cannot be resolved - ESS Web Dynpro

Hi There,
We are trying to modify the SAP's ESS Web Dynpro code. I stored the DC (ess/us/addr) locally from DTR. When I try to build this DC, I am getting the following error messages. We have restarted the CBS server and also there is no dirty DC's in CBS. Can someone pls help me out to solve this problem? Should I import any packages?

Hi Ashish,
If you do the personalization as an administrator, you can make it available for a all the users.
1) Login as content admin
2) Go to the iview in the PCD.
3) Right click the iview and preview it. personalize as usual when you preview it.
This is global.

Hide Calendar in ESS Web Dynpro Time Entry Application

Hello All,
We are currently on ESS SP 11. NW 2004 SP19 (EP 6.0 SP 19)
In "Record Working Time" application, we see the Calendar expanded by default. We want to Hide the Calendar by default.
I have went the link /thread/82037 [original link is broken] but the actual procedure for modifying the Web dynpro CCs is not mentioned there.
Please suggest me the changes to be done exactly to achieve this functionality.

I hope JDI is ready in your landscape.
If it is ready then import the DC ess~cat from ESS related track.
In the interface component controller of the DC there is will be some code like
return new CAPState(cap, cap[0].getId());
Here just change this as
return new CAPState(cap, " ");
With this change, Calendar will be hidden by default.

I want to import an web dynpro application, esstratre, to my netweaver studio. The source can be found in my WAS j2ee server, there are a zip file. But the zip file is not a valid netweaver studio project and can't import to netweaver studio directly, how can i import the source to my IDE?

Code of Conduct ESS Web Dynpro Error posting in IT

Hi,
we are using the "Code of Conduct" scenario in EP7.0 ECC6.0 . After filling out the Adobe Forms and sending the document, the user sees an error "...cannot write to user..".
I know that results are written into Infotype 0035 subtype 003, but that exists in the system.
The connection seems ok, when the user-record is blocked, the WD yields an "Record locked" error.
We are using a different MOLGA (99), is this the problem?

unfortunately, no, the OSS note is still pending.
I wrote a similiar application in Web Dynpro for ABAP in about two days, works like a charme.
Beats any waiting for OSS responses.
Plus, that I found out the pdf handling itself in this SAP/ISR flow would have had generated some big infrastructure problems for the client.
So, get a good programmer and you are all set. I can share the function module for the infotype update with you if you want - send me a private mail.

We have a customer which are currently running a SAP NW Portal (7.0) and are
Currently upgrading to ECC. 6.0 enh.3. They would very much like to use the org.plan iview in the current ESS business package to the portal, based on Java. But we have heard that the ESS business package should be converted to web dynpro for ABAP in the future releases. Does that also applies to the current org.plan Iview?
Should we advise the customer to wait until the business package is available in Web Dynpro for ABAP, or will the org. plan Iview stay in Java?

XSS/ESS Web Dynpro Design Principles

Dear NetWeaver Web Dynproers
Kind of wondering if any of you have any high level/detailed documentation on Web Dynpro Design principles used by SAP while building XSS business package?
Looking at the Web Dynpro XSS Code there seems to use a consistent design principals and naming convections that have followed like Cc.., Fc.. , Vc.. and also uses advanced Web Dynpro programming, like Guided Procedures and Floor Manger patterns. I am really excited with the implementation and would like to know more about these topics and kind of understand the core design principals behind it before I make any enhancements and customizations.
Are there any links and documentation that kind of covers all this...? Is there any cookbook on Web Dynpro enhancements and customizations for XSS for keeping the core design intact and kind of natural bending the custom code to it?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if there is any documentation released about the WebDynpro Design Standards being followed by SAP in ESS and XSS WebDynpro Applications.
But I can throw some light on the same.
XSS is the central component which will be used in all probably all the SAP Self Services going ahead. This is being done to provide all the Self Services, consitent User Interface.
FPM - The floorplan manager (FPM) is the central part of the XSS architecture. It can be said to be the base of all self sevices. Any WebDynpro application that implements FPM is known as FPM Application.
So if you want to design your own custom application using FPM, you should know the following.
FPM provdes 4 basic interfaces that are implemented by the Self Services WebDynpro Applications,
1) IVAC (for the Visual Application Component - Vc)
2) IBLC (for the Business Logic Component - Fc)
3) IXssAppConf ( for the Configuration Component - Cc)
4) IFPM (It gives the self service application access to the FPM and its utility classes)
You have to define the above interfaces as the implemented interfaces and then you can implement their functions. To start with first analyze any ESS application like this
1) Cc(here all the configuration is done for the application. You will also see how a persepective is being built and how a navigation path is being defined.
2) Fc(here all the Model are executed)
3) Vc(This contain the view or Visual Component)
Hope this helps in some basic understanding of Self Service Applications.

Cannot pass data from Web Dynpro to XI using a Web Service

Hi All,
We have been facing some issues when we try to pass on a SOAP / XML message via a WSDL from a WebDynpro App to XI - No data is reaching XI interface. The payload data details for the inbound message in XI is empty. When testing the WSDL separately using XML spy the data passes to the XI successfully.
The problem only occurs when we pass on the data from the WebDynpro component.
We are also passing additional information _user and _password to ensure authenticated access.
Steps that we completed so far:
1. Created a WSDL which we can use to communicate to XI interface.
2. Imported WSDL using webdynpro Web Service Model import
functionality.
3. Bound WSDL with webdynpro components.
4. Pass on data through WSDL contexts.
5. Execute WSDL model.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Upload documents from ESS Web Dynpro through Archivelink

Hi Guys
I am aware that ESS Whos Who has a functionality where the user can upload his own Photo and this makes use of the SAP Archivelink Architecture.
We wish to make an iView that enables users to upload documents (other than photos) using Archivelink. This should be possible since it can be done for photos anyway.
Does anyone know how to go about it? What are the configuration steps / coding required. Any help will be appreciated.

I haven't implemented from java, but from ABAP.
You have to call the FM "ARCHIV_CREATE_TABLE".
e.g.
constants: c_sap_object like toaom-sap_object value 'PREL'.

Help URL for ESS web dynpro applications

Hi gurus,
I am trying to assign help URL for a standard ESS iView( Record working time).
When i go to the iView properties i have property showhelp. I have the same property for the page record working time.
When i set this property to yes at the page level the help option shows up and whn i set this at the iView level the help option does not show up ( in the right hand corner of the page or iView)
My main question... how do i set up the help url for this help. becuase even for page when i click on help it says "no help found"
I want to give a URL for this help link.
   Any thoughts on why this option is not popping up when i set the show help option for iView and how to enable the help URL for iView as well.
   Appreciate any help on the same.

The Help option should show up in the iview tray if you set it at the iView level. Im not sure why that part isnt working for you.
For the iView help, you can set the property URL to Help Topic property on the iview or page.
If your version doesnt have this property, you can use the PCD inspector (available under system administration>Support>Portal Content Directory-->PCD Inspector). Browse to the iview, click on prop editor, click the Switch to PCM property. Edit the com.sap.portal.iview.HelpUrl and enter your help url.

ESS Web Dynpro FPM

I am trying to findout what which function module gets called when i click on Edit Plan on benefits enrollment plan. I was able to dig in the code until i reached doPlanEdit( ) method in Component Controller of the Component VcBenefitsPlanSelection component. Now i am not able to look into the code

i see that fpm is of type com.sap.pcuigp.xssfpm.java.IFPM.

Do you mean that you are trying to find which Function Module is being called in the backend system?
I can't help you with the Java code side of it, but couldn't you set up a trace in the backend with transaction ST05 and run the ESS application? That should show you any RFC activity on the ECC side.

ESS Web Dynpro Current month Payslip

Dear Expert,
I am not able to view my payslip for the current month even though i have run the payroll. For the rest of the month, i am able to view it but not for the current month.
I have run the payroll for august in the beginning of the month and expected to see the payslip in the ess. However it does not show in the portal. Are there any dates that can be change so that I can view the current month payslip.

It works this way!
While configuring the HR backend system, with respect to your country coding(MOLGA).
You would have to keep in mind certain parameters like
Period Parameters
     The period parameter determines how often payroll is run for a payroll
     accounting area. Each payroll accounting area is assigned one period
     parameter. Payroll periods are defined for each period parameter.
     Examples of standard values are monthly, weekly, and bi-weekly.
Payday rule
    This field specifies how the payment date should be calculated for each
    payroll period.
Dependencies for Payday rule
    The field is used in connection with the Number of days field.
Number of Days
     In this field, you specify a value that the system uses in conjunction
     with the payday rule to determine the payday for every payroll period.
Determine Period Number
   In this field, you define which date of the payroll period the system
   uses to determine the Period Number. The system uses the period number
   in the Payroll Control Record to continually project the payroll period
   for a year. When counting the period numbers the system starts again at
   one with every fiscal year.
   Your entries then lead to different results, if the payday is outside
   the payroll period or if the start date and end date of the period are
   in different years.
Please ensure that all these values are checked against by your HR team.

ESS Address Required Field Web Dynpro

Hi,
Trying to make a field on the ESS Address screen mandatory. Viewed the Web Dynpro Java Code and updated the label to required - which put the * next to the label on the screen, however I cannot see where the validation check exists.
Do I have to validate the code in web dynpro and if so where or is it a ABAP issue?
Have read in other postings (e.g. Re: ESS Web dynpro for portugal) that the required fields can be updating in the table V_T588MFPROPC. I'm unsure if this is correct as a required field 'City' does not exist in this table, which is a mandatory field. Also what values should I enter and how is the error message format created?

Setting the attribute of field as required will only add a * mark in front of it.
