IWeb '08 2.02 slideshow icon

I recently upgraded to a new iMac, Leopard and the latest version of iWeb. I went through all the hoops of finding my old site (buried because the OS system hides the very necessary ".sites" extension after the words "Domain"! Wasn't that fun for all of us?) and now everything is up.
However, the slideshow has changed from the cute little icon I used to be able to move around the screen, to this hideous underlined Helvetica/Arial type which can not be moved. Is there any way to fix this?

You can change the icon in two ways:
1) replace canvasplay(nn).png with your own image, you have to rename your image to canvasplay(nn).png. where (nn) is two-digit number depend on the template you use. this image is in your Media folder.
2) same as #1 replace canvasplay(nn).png, but directly in iWeb.app/Contents/Resources folder. Not recommended, unless you know exactly what you are doing.
You can only move these icon with javascript in iweb2, see this thread:

  • Missing Slideshow icon in iPhoto

My girlfriend was creating a slideshow (on her slightly older Mac) a week ago, now when she went back to work some more the slideshow icon at the bottom center is suddenly missing?? I had her download the latest version of iPhoto but it is still gone? Where oh where could her slideshow icon be?
    thanks!

Do you mean the Play button?
There are two ways to create a slideshow in iPhoto.
Pressing the Play button will make a quick and dirty slideshow of whatever you're looking at - this album, event, whatever. However this method has no built-in export option.
To create a Slideshow for export click on the '+' button lower left and select SlideshowThis will bring the Slideshow Toolbar to the fore and you can make all the decisions and choices you prefer for the show. Then, click on the Export button on the Slideshow Toolbar will give you the much enhanced export options in iPhoto 09.

  • Lost iWeb Slideshow icons

I have updated the slideshow content of my iweb site and for some reason have lost the navigation (back|pause|next) icons that go with the slideshow. They have been replaced with the ubiquitous "?" icons. Is there a way to restore these icons?
    Thank you.

This is a result of MobileMe closing. The images were stored on the Apple server.

  • IWeb published to .mac- slideshow not working

The slideshow and 'click to enlarge' features are not working. The button is there, but nothing happens when I (or anyone) click on them. How do I activate these functions?
Also, I downloaded Moble Me, but I don't think I activated it because when I saw the features, they do not apply to me. (Will iPhones ever work with Verizon?) Do I need to activate it anyway? Is the fee the same as my .mac account? I was able to publish from iWeb to .mac, just . . . (see paragraph above).

Never mind . . . it didn't work yesterday, but is today for some reason.

  • IWeb sites with photo slideshows after migration from MobileMe

I raised this question in another discussion earlier today in response to another post in the MobileMe forum (no answer yet), but the recent confirmation about the death of MobileMe webhosting brings new urgency to this question for me, so I figured I'd post it in the iWeb forum.
I knew that if I migrated my iWeb sites to another host, I'd lose the counter, etc. I wasn't concerned about that, and don't have a blog or comments area that would be impacted. But, on my two sites (iWeb -->MobileMe), there are many pictures--and slideshows are an important part of those sites. Will the slideshow feature of iWeb be able to be used after I migrate to another host  such as hostexcellence or godaddy??? If that's true, then I really do have a problem. (I'm not talking about galleries from iPhoto to mobileme, but photo pages in iWeb sites.)
I've spent a ton of time over the last couple of years on those sites, and would hate to redo them. While there may be alternatives to the iWeb slideshow, it will take me quite a while to figure it out. (I never had a desire to learn how to do that--if I did, I wouldn't have needed iWeb.)
If anybody who uses the iWeb slideshow on a photo page and has their sites hosted somewhere other than MobileMe could let me know--I'd appreciate it. (Let me know which host you use please!) Thanks.
I guess related to this, if it's absolutely not going to work anymore, suggestions would be appreciated. Do I have to redo my sites for this? Is there an "iWeb like" program that has an easy to use slideshow for a photopage that would work? If so, I guess I have a year to redo my sites. )

Past experience has taught me not to rely on media player assets on third party servers. Yahoo pulling the plug on the EasyListener player is a case in point.
As OT has pointed out, the slideshow works on other servers but, according to Cyclosaurus, some necessary assets are on the Apple server.
Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect that Apple will make these assets available after the demise of MobileMe if enough people requested this?
The iWeb method of getting media onto websites leaves a lot to be desired and there are a lot of other ways to display music, movies and photos. The photo page is one of iWebs few triumphs but there are many alternative slideshows and banners.
Most of these methods require that assets are uploaded to, ideally, your own server but its not so difficult once you grasp the concept and the basics of FTP.
iWeb does provide two other methods of publishing apart from MobileMe. The built in FTP is just as quick, easy and convenient as publishing to MobileMe once you set it up.
Publishing to a local folder and uploading via an FTP app. allows you to add SEO tags and optimize the files for faster download.
A good FTP application makes the task of uploading media player assets very easy - drag and drop.

  • IWeb and Photo Album/Slideshows

My apologies if this topic has been done before. But I didn't find anything specific to answer my question here on the board.
For starters, I'm new to iWeb. Actually, aside from a .MAC account I'm new to web design period. I was wondering if someone could walk me through the process of adding a slideshow or photo album to my yet to be published iWeb site.
    Thanks in advance,

  • IWeb 1.1 - no slideshows

By following the information in this forum, I was finally able to publish my site. (The thing that seems to work is to allow it to continue to publish after you receive an error message that would suggest it has stopped, and then try republishing.) But on the photo pages I created in 1.1, the slideshow does not work. It works on the pages I created earlier. Has anyone else encountered this? Does any one know how to fix it? Thanks.

  • Slideshow in iWeb won't work on my server - not .Mac,

My Photos page, created with a template, is giving me a 404 msg. (SlideShow.html not found on this server) whenever I go to click on the SlideShow icon. My site is http://www.theweetman.net.
However, when I run the site from my desktop files, the slideshow works.
Does the site have to be uploaded to a .Mac server to work on-line?
BTW - I used Fetch 5.2 to upload my files, and the SlideShow.html file is where it is supposed to be. Please Help!
    Thanks
    WeetMan

I took you advice, as given in this thread and now my slideshow works. iWeb has a problem with Verizon servers, with regard to SlideShow.

    How did you edit .js?
Give this a try, edit this file:
    http://mysite.verizon.net/macericpet/Home/SlideShow_assets/openSlideShowWindow.j s
Open it with text editor, you will find two functions:
    function openSlideShow(initialIndex)
    function openSlideShow2(initialIndex, language)
You can swap them, rename openSlideShow to openSlideShow2
    and rename openSlideShow2 to openSlideShow
    . . . from Cyclosaurus

  • Slideshow button can't be seen after upgrade to iWeb 08

I have a website originally created in iWeb 07 - using the Roadtrip theme. Everything converted fine with minor changes - except the Play Slideshow icon.
The pages are dark brown - and in all converted pages, the Play Slideshow link is now an arrow with black text "Play Slideshow". The black text is barely visible (by the way - the new subscribe link is also black on these pages).
If I create a new page based on the theme - the "Play Slideshow" text is created in an off-white, which is visible.
I've tried disabling/enabling the slideshow feature hoping the icon would fix itself - but it still comes back up black.
Is there anyway to go back to the old icon (I actually liked the '07 icon much better) - or to change the appearance of this converted link so it is visible on each page? Since I can't select the Play Slideshow, I can't figure out how to change how it looks.
    Thanks.

As it turns out, there was an issue with the application Smasher that comes with Font Agent Pro when you purchase it. When trying to clear the font caches if adobe acrobat is installed this can happen.
The solution for me was to remove smasher and reboot into safe mode and then restart.
    So far it's working ok.

  • Iweb '09 slideshow not working on website

I have created a photo page in iweb that includes a slideshow with downloading of pictures as an option. I used Fetch to put the webpage on my host. I've done this many times before and not had an issues. This time, the "play slideshow" button is visible, but it won't bring up the slideshow when clicked and the "download" is visible, but not clickable. Any suggestions?

Problem solved: reinstallation did the trick.

  • Using Elements to create slideshow to post online via iweb....

Is this possible??? I am almost at my wits end trying to figure out a way to create a slideshow to post on my site via iweb that looks decent.  iweb does have a slideshow it is only enabled IF the viewer wants to enable it.  One other thing that I have tried is uploading to other sites and copying the html and putting it in a widget.  This works great but looks terrible. Is there another way or does anyone have any other options?  Thanks so much!!!!

How are you hosting your site, and which slideshow are you trying to do? Which version of elements?
If you mean the html slideshow in earlier versions of elements, you would need to upload that to a separate folder on your website and just link to it (you'll have to edit the html of the completed slideshow to give your visitors a way back to the main site). That's about as much as you can do.
I'd suggest looking into something like rapidweaver rather than beating your head against the wall trying to make this work, or using a photo hosting site and linking to the pics from your iweb page.

  • Blackroom theme - cleaner look possible on close-ups & slideshow?

Hello - Looking for someone that knows the darkroom theme pretty well. I have built a website mainly featuring photo galleries. When clicking on a particular photograph within an album, the image is enlarged and right above it there is the "bar" with other photographs in the album, which allows one to click on any of them and instantly go to that photograph.
To me, this is distracting from the photograph. I want the single picture to be featured and crisp, not be right next to this array of other pictures above it. Anyone know if I can get rid of this bar? Ideally, all I'd like is a forward and back arrows.
Additionally, I'd love for the same simple, white frame that surrounds each picture on the album page to surround the picture on the single-picture view, and on the slideshow.
    Thank you!

    - There is now next to the little "play slideshow" icon, two other icons that are both seemingly meaningless. I would guess that they sort of have to do with thumbnails or no thumbnails, but neither does anything. Anyway I can get rid of them? (They appear on your sample page as well.)
go back to my widget markup page and get the code, I added stylesheet to hide the 'toggle thumbnails' icon.
    - And unrelated to all of this, do you know of any way I could put a white frame around each photo on this single photo view, and/or on the slideshow view - to keep it similar to how they appear when looking at the entire gallery as a whole?
it can be done with understanding of iweb widgets:
    http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/Framed_DetailView/Photos.html
the above example was made with my iweb2 widgets, i do not have code snippet for it (for html snippet)... but code is linked to the example, you can look at it.

  • Does anyone know why this appears in slideshow?

When I click slideshow on my iWeb built web site, an icon of 3 rectangles with question marks
appears for a few moments then fades away. How do I get rid of it? What is it

You have to upload the graphic files to the root folder of your hosting account and make sure you've linked to them properly. If you changed the extension of the  iWPopUpSlideshow.js to .txt then remove the .txt extension and replace it with .js.  For existing slideshows you can copy the edited iWPopUpSlideshow.js  file and use it to replace the same file in each of your existing sites.
For future websites and slideshows edit the iWPopUpSlideshow.js file that is inside the iWeb application.

  • Remove RSS/Subscribe Icon

I can't figure out how to remvoe the RSS/subscribe icon on the photos template. It doesn't take focus when you click or click and drag around it.
Same for the 'Play Slideshow' icon in iWeb 2.0. I can't seem to position it like before. Is this a template conversion problem from upgrading?

Go to the "photos" inspector and uncheck the "allow visitors to subscribe" box.
Click the "slideshow" button and uncheck "enable slideshow".
