IWeb 08 and browsers other than Safari

My site works fine on Safari but I've had a check on Opera and Mozilla and some things are missing, for example the reflections on the images and the borders round the images? The mind boggles on what will be happening with internet explorer!! Any clues out there?

I am just curious to know what other browsers people recommend using other than Safari. I had been using Firefox but recently started having trouble with it. When I go to certain websites, it would shut down and try to install a Windows Antivirus program.
I see there are a few options other than Firefox and Safari.
iCab
Flock
OmniWeb
etc
I can't, in good conscience, recommend any browser other than Safari. I have tried most of them and found them to be sad, pathetic imitations. I used to keep Firefox around for the occasional web site that wouldn't function properly with Safari but those sites have dwindled to almost nothing in the past year. I speculate that a combination of better, standards compliant coding by developers and the steady improvement of WebKit is the reason.
For whatever reason the majority of complaints about Safari compatibility seem to be coming from european users these days.
I assume you were using Firefox because of problems with Safari. Now you're having trouble with Firefox. That should be a red flag for you. Something is going on your individual system that needs fixing or attention.

  • Wrong Display in Browsers other than safari

    Hi,
    I am using Aperture 3.3.1 to generate simple albums to work on our server. So long as I use Safari to view the pages all is well, but using, IE, Opera or firefox produces unuseable results with the thumbnail pages.
    Any suggesstions what to do? Ditch Aperture and use something else or edit every page by hand?
    -Paul-

    Sorry for not being clearer.
    I am using the "stock black" template. When the thumbnail pages are viewed with Safari (also on an ipad) the title is at the top, the subtitle takes a little space on the left and the thumbnails are neatly spaced after the sub title, below the main title.
    On all other browsers i have tried, the main title is on the left, taking a few hundred pixels, followed by the subtitle and the thumbnails are so far to the right that you have to constantly scroll to be able to select them.
    I looked at the generated html and can see that it uses "divs" which contain tables instead of using, what is always more reliable across browsers, tables everywhere.
    I will need to resort to writing my own html foto generator presumably.

  • Any program other than safari won't detect internet

    any program other than safari won't detect internet eg. itunes, skype etc. I can't even system update.
    Safari has no problems and I can use the internet fine.
    Someone told me to check proxy settings and make sure "Use Passive FTP Mode" was ticked which it is...
    Does anyone have any suggestions? I urgently need to fix this and I can't get an appointment to see anyone until next week.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Kaan for your reply,
    Yes, Network does indicate that Airport is connected to the internet. Internet Explorer (OS X) connects instantly over the same network. Restarting Safari doesn't work. Waiting a few minutes doesn't work. Choosing a different web site to access doesn't work. Safari (1.3.1) has worked beautifully for months over this same network.
    Thanks again and Happy New Year.

  • Printing 1 Label in Row and Column Other Than Row 1, Column 1

    I want to print 1 label and want to print it on Avery label stock in a row and column other than row 1, column 1. I'm using Avery Labels 8163. I can select the row and column I want to print on in Word but can't figure out how to do it in *Address Book*. Anyone know how to do this?

    You can't do that in Addrress Book. But you can use pearLabelizer to do that. Be sure you download and install the appropriate Label Definition file and name it as such so you can select it from the pop-up list in the program's Preferences window.

  • Are there any browsers for Mac other than Safari and Google Chrome that are better with adobe flash for my Macbook 2009?

    On Safari Adobe Flash freezes at times on popular Flash chatroom I visit and on Google Chrome when I try to type the typing is laggy delayed. Adobe Flash needs to be fixed in Safari and possibly other Browsers, and Google Chromes html5 or whatever flash replacement their browser uses ***** on older hardware.

    Go for Safari always, you will have more advantages than any other browser. You can safely install the Adobe Flash pluguin, it will install as pref pane in your System Preferences. From there you can limit its access, block sites for storing info in your mac.
    Under the advanced tab of the Flash Player in System Preferences, check “Notify me to install updates”, so you are always up to date (feel free to check out any update directly form the Adobe website to be safe).
    Steve does't want to allow Flash for iOS due to security issues (long story). But it's OK for mac, if you keep an eye on it.
    Google's Chrome its decent, but you know, it's Google. I will prefer to take the advantage of the Apple's ecosystem, like syncing all Safari content and passwords with iCloud, to keep using it in your iOS devices. You can have an open page in your mac, and go to your iPad and continue with the same page.
    Also you can find some useful Safari extensions that will trick the websites to load an HTML5 version of the video instead of flash (like if you were on an iPad).

  • Site not opening correctly in any browser other than Safari

    Site created in iWeb '08 opens fine in Safari, but in other browsers opens with a really small browser window. When published to folder and opened in Firefox looks fine seems as though problem is with
    uploading to .Mac or .Mac itself. Does anyone have any ideas?? help will be much appreciated.
    Site is www.theobelisk.co.uk

    Whoever do you domain forwarding did it wrong.
    They put your .mac site in an iframe, they should have use frame instead.

  • Is there a way to choose another online app other than safari?

    why is there only one online app on Ipads?  Can it be changed? Just having to spend lots of time fixing it. thanks

    If by "online App" you mean browser, then yes. There are many alternative Browsers in the App store such as Google Chrome, Opera, and many others.
    Just search the App store for "Browser".

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 and devices other than Cisco.

    Hello.
    Can I use some CiscoWorks LMS functions like config management, topology, with devices other than Cisco?
    Thanks.
    Andrea

    No, RME, Campus and DFM are still hardcoded to restrict to cisco devices.
    HUM and IPSLA are more open.
    The functionality from the HUM will allow you to monitor availablilty, interfaces and you can add OID's yourself.
    IPSLA can use non cisco devices as a target for their tests.
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • How can I write in the titles of songs I wrote and recorded other than track 1-2 etc.?

    How can I change the Titles of songs I recorded  on a playlist other than the given "track 1, 2,3 etc.? thanks Sigi

    Highlight a track. Press command + i to get information on the track. Enter the data.  For simultaneous multi-track editing use click and shift+ click to select a range of tracks on which to get information.
    Use iTunes help menu to find out how to use iTunes.

  • IWeb and Browsers

    Three days ago I edited the text of one of the charities web site pages in Iweb.
    Saved published site changes.
    However changes didn't show after I visited the site using Chrome.
    I then saved again and published entire site and visited the site again.
    In Safari changes there but not in Chrome
    Today three days later same thing, changes visible in Safari but NOT Chrome
    Any thoughts?
    Robert Jones

    Clear the browser cache.
    And since the changes appear in Safari, it's probably is a browser issue.
    Have you tried Firefox, Opera, SeaMonkey or other browsers?

  • Using Keychain Access for applications other than Safari

    I am trying to decide what browser I want to use. There are several things to take into consideration - bookmarks kept in sync between the browers and passwords. So far I have stayed with Safari because it works with Keychain. I tried to open Keychain and add Firefox to a web form password but it doesnt appear to work. As for the bookmark issue, I downloaded "Bookdog" and it looks nice - the latest version is supposed to sync the bookmarks between the two browsers but I dont see a setting or option for that (emailed for support on that issue).
    So, is there a way I can use Keychain for all of my browsers?

    The following blueprint (http://www.sun.com/blueprints/0406/819-6320.pdf) describes what you want, but its not wise to put user-applications on well known ports. It wouldn't be the first time that an application crashes when a networkscanner is hammering on well known ports to find known problems. Also most of the time people are trying to bind there application on a well known port to bypass firewalls for example. So if you're going to do this, then please configure IPF for example to limit the amount of IPs that can access that port.

  • Can I use a browser other than Safari with iMac?

    I have to use some applications that do not support Safari.  How can I use an alternate browser?

    You may still be able to use Safari, all you need to is:
    Safari > preferences > advanced > click on show develp menu in menu bar. Then when you get to one of those site, click the Developers Menu and choose Internet Explorer.
    Chances are the content you have is designed for Internet Explorer, choose I.E. in the menu bar and  you should be OK.

  • Update Panel is not working browsers other than IE

    In SharePoint 2013, Update Panel is not working for firefox, chrome etc.

    Hi,
    From your description, my understanding is that you use
    <asp:UpdatePanel>tag in your code, but it does not work well in browsers except
    IE.
    I have test
    <asp:UpdatePanel>tag with code below, and it works well in IE, chrome, Firefox
    as the screenshot.
    <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional" ChildrenAsTriggers="true">
    <ContentTemplate>
    <asp:Label ID="lbl" runat="server" Text="Loaded" Visible="true"></asp:Label>
    <asp:Button ID="btn" runat="server" OnClick="btn_Click"/>
    </ContentTemplate>
    </asp:UpdatePanel>
    protected void btn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    lbl.Text = "BUTTON CLICKED !";
    lbl.Visible = true;
    The screenshot below is my result(the first is result in Chrome, second is in Firefox and last is in IE):

  • Making a spry menu work in browsers other than IE

    I am having a hard time getting any vertical spry menu bar work in Safari, FireFox, etc.  They work fine in Internet Explorer.  Any ideas?
    Here's an example:  http://midlochorus.org/
    Thanks in advance!
    Karen

    Thanks, Beth.
    Like many others, I learned web design using tables and am trying to learn CSS.  I am working on changing the positioning to relative, but now the page is all wonky.  The left and top numbers are the same, but the nav bar is all over the place.
    For what it's worth, I opened a new file and inserted a dummy vertical spry bar by itself with NO CSS... just at the top of the page, and I'm having the same problem.  The menu will not expand in FF.  I'll attach the document, and you can take a look.
    As far as the flash issue is concerned, I had read about that problem.  Fortunately, the only menu item that I wish to expand is not anywhere close to the fash object, so I'm hoping it won't be a problem in this case.
    Thanks so much for your willingness to help!

  • ODM 11.1 and nls_Territory other than america?

    Has anyone got ODM working in other territory settings than AMERICA (decimal separator is dot)? It seems to crash the session quite well and none of the dbms_data_mining packages work with comma as decimal separator. Starts from the settings table where values are not recognized as valid when I try to build a model.

    The settings table contains two columns, both of type VARCHAR2. If a numeric value is represented using a ',' (comma) as the decimal indicator, an error will occur when calling the CREATE_MODEL() procedure.
    A work around would be to alter the session before calling the CREATE_MODEL() procedure, and the undo this after, as follows:
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS='.,';
    BEGIN
    DBMS_DATA_MINING.CREATE_MODEL(...);
    END;
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS=',.';
    Make sure numeric decimal values in the settings table using '.' (period) as the decimal indicator.
