IWeb 08:  Blog page and Archive

I set up a new Blog. The first COMMENT (entered on the Comment page) shows on the Blog page. (it I had set it to show 4 comments) All other comments are on Comment page, but do not show on Blog page. Also, I do not understand how to get any of the Comments (now 10 of them) onto the Archive page.
Please help..

I am not sure what you mean "use report this post & ask that it gets moved,".How do I do this?
Sure bottom right of each post, every post has that link in the bottom right corner...
there is no "New Posting" mention when I go to the iWeb page
Right, I wish Apple would make it easier, but try this...

  • How to customize / edit wiki theme in content_entry.xsl file to display tags for blog pages and not wiki pages?

    I am trying to customize a wiki theme by displaying the "Edited Today at… by…" for only blog pages and not wiki pages.
    I tried editing the content_entry.xsl with an xsl if tag, but failed.
    <xsl:if test="context/link='/groups/groupname/weblog/'">
      <div id="entry_date" class="entry_date">
        <a href="{../contentEntry/historyURL}" id="history_link" title="{../../jsstrings/tooltips_history_link}" onclick="return false"><xsl:value-of select="../../strings/History"/></a>
        <span id="history_time_author"><xsl:value-of select="historyTimeAuthor" disable-output-escaping="yes"/></span>
      </div>
    </xsl:if>
    What is the correct <xsl:if test=""> tag, that would execute this?
    For <xsl:if test="context/"> I believe the content after "context/" are variables like link, baseHREF, contentEntry.  What are other variables I can use?

    I also tried it this way, but does not seem to work.
      <xsl:if test="context/link='/groups/groupname/weblog/'">
            <xsl:template match="context/entryMeta">

  • Incorporating iWeb's blog page into another site

    Hello all,
    I have a site hosted by go daddy.
    Is there a way to incorporate the blogging function (or any page for that matter) of iWeb as a page in the site?
    I find Word Press just too complicated when it comes to editing the look of it.
    thanks,
    Al

    Paste this code in a HTML Snippet. It will add a menu item to the navagation bar :
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    theNavUL = parent.document.getElementById("widget0-navbar-list");
    TheLi = parent.document.createElement("li")
    TheLi.innerHTML = "<a href='Tuinproject.html'>More</a>";
    TheLi.className = "noncurrent-page";
    theNavUL.appendChild(TheLi);
    TheLi = parent.document.createElement("li")
    TheLi.innerHTML = "<a href='/'>Home</a>";
    TheLi.className = "noncurrent-page";
    theNavUL.appendChild(TheLi);
    clearInterval(chkNavLink);
    // -->
    </script>
    You can see it here :
         http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/ipad/Welcome.html
    (The 2 menu items on the right)
    Study the widget-markup files to see how it's done.

  • Blog Summary and Archive Page

    Does anyone know if the blog can be configured to display...
    1) Only a summary of each post or
    2) Listing only the title of each post like an archive or
    3) Show only the most recent posts and allowing an "Older Posts" link to the full archive
    If the blog can only show the full content of every single post, then it will definitely get messier over time as more and more blog posts are added, and load times might get longer and longer too.
    Can anyone clarify on this?

    By default, only the 20 most recent blog posts will be displayed on someone's blog - You can change one of the values in /etc/wikid/wikid.conf to change this. Probably the howManyEntriesToShow key - either that or listingsPerFeed / listingsPerPage.
    If you wanted to only display the title in the blog listing, the easiest way to accomplish that would probably be to create a theme with a css selector or javascript that strips the entry_content from the page.

  • Iweb'09 blog comments and google analytics

    My apologies if this has been asked before.
    My blog no longer allows comments. This occurred when I used the Automator program to add google analytics to my site. The good news is that google analytics does work. I host the site on mobile me so I have 2 questions
    (1) Is there a way to get google analytics to work and allow blog comments within a moble me hosted site?
    if not, how can I remove google analytics to restore the blog comment capability and is there a monitoring package available within the mobile me world?
    thanks

    I had the same problem. From the little research I've done it appears that you can't have the comments on and run GA at the same time. I have seen some messages on here that claimed to move a picture on the pages that had comments in order to restore the ones that were lost. I didn't have any luck with it.
    Here's and interesting site that references it in the comments section.

  • IWeb 08 : Album pages and Text not showing up anymore

    Hey guys,
    I work for a local television company and created a page for one of our shows. I have been publishing the website with no problems and then all of a sudden recently my albums pages are not showing the albums or pictures. Click here..
    http://www.askgodtv.com/AskGod_TV/Photos/Photos.html
    The pictures are on that page when I am editing in iWeb, but not when I publish or a folder or upload it to my website. Does anyone know why this would be or are having similar problems?
    Also, the text on one of my pages is all out of line when I publish, but perfectly correct on my page. This page is also not showing the album I have posted. Click here...
    http://www.askgodtv.com/AskGodTV/On_Set/OnSet.html
    I switched in the middle of making this website from iWeb 06 to iWeb 08, but I didn't have these problems at first, so I don't think it was the upgrade.
    I did do some things with the domain (copy, save to an outside hard drive, to try to transfer it to another computer) and the problems did start shortly after that. But I didn't really mess with the domain file on my computer, so it shouldn't have created a problem.
    Please fill me in ASAP if you have any insight because my boss is just as frustrated as I am!
    Thanks
    Laura

    Hi Laura,
    I get a "The page can not be found" message clicking on both links.
    You might try to republish/re-upload the whole page
    A. If publishing to .mac go to File=>Publish All. Or try to publish to a folder and open it from there to see if it works.
    B. If publishing to a folder: do they work when opening from the folder? If so reupload everything.
    Regards,
    Cédric

  • Blog category and archive js path/conflict issue..

    Hi guys,
    My main menu isn't functioning when accessed from blog categories or the blog archive. My best guess is it's a js path or conflict issue but since im new to all this im not sure how to fix it. Would someone with some experience be able to point me in the right direction while I still have some hair left?
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Hi Liam,
    Thanks for the reply. I know it's not much to go on, I just wasn't sure if I was allowed to post links on here?

  • IWeb'09 Blog Comments and non mobile hosting

    Is there a workaround to enable blog comments if you are not using mobile me to host your website.
    Also, is there a reason (other than driving more business to the mobile me service) that blog comments don't automatically work with other sites?
    thanks

    Is there a workaround to enable blog comments if you are not using mobile me to host your website.
    Haloscan is one.
    Also, is there a reason (other than driving more business to the mobile me service) that blog comments don't automatically work with other sites?
    The system used to create them depends on software located on the MobileMe server.

  • IWeb's blogs and Apple's weblog server

    Has anyone looked at the use of iWeb/blogs and Apple's web log server app on the server side? The more I use iWeb for a personal project on my .mac acct, I think about using it in commbination with our Apple Xserve/ OS X Server at work. But the two (iWeb and OS X Server weblog server) seem like conflicting applications? Comments?

    acct, I think about using it in commbination with our
    Apple Xserve/ OS X Server at work.
    You should be able to use iWeb blogs on your own server, but you won't be able to have comments and attachments, those functions are disable when you publish to a folder.
    Comments and attachments use some special webojbect+ js, append the following to your summary or .Mac blog page and you'll see what I mean.
    blog_page.html?wsc=enrty.js
    blog_summary.html?wsc=summary.js

  • My blog page alignment on Safari is wrong although it's fine in iWeb.

    Varkgirl and James — I have emailed you both a screenshot of my iWeb blog page and my Safari blog page.
    The iWeb blog page is on top of the Safari blog page (the same blog page).
    You will observe that whereas all of the text and pictures are centered on my iWeb page, the Safari page has the picture and the text way farther to the left, right against the left margin.
    THE SUSPICIOUS THING:
    On my iWeb blog page, the horizontal spread of the margins combined with the text space is very very wide. Wider, it seems, than other pages.
    About a month ago I noticed that the text and picture were far far to the left but the reason for it remained a mystery to everyone. Today I figured I would go back, turn the page white so I could check for margins, and reposition the picture and text. I did that.
    In spite of clearing the cache and the history and going to an outside, the page as you see it on the screenshot remains with the text and picture jammed way to the left.
    HERE IS MY CONCERN:
    I could live with this; it's not that bad looking. But I always suspect that little things such as this could be little signals of impending doom. Like when your brake pedal starts getting soft... you know that if this keeps up, you're going to go flying off the cliff while careening down the 405 Freeway.
    This makes me anxious because there is no explanation and thus no fix, and only the suspicion of future catastrophe, about which I can do nothing. 8-(

    Lorna,
    I checked your blog page. Here is the URL...
    http://web.mac.com/lorna6/iWeb/Website%20of%20Lorna%20
    Alexander/Stories,%20Fantasies%20Blog/Stories,%20Fanta
    sies%20Blog.html
    Everything looks centered to me.
    OK, good. That means that the end product is OK........ and the only irregularity is that wide blog page.......... wider than my other pages. I will do what you said. And the page looks oK now because I went to iWeb, changed the page to white so I could SEE, expanded the width of the work space including margins, and re-centered the picture and text. the margins are much wider apart on this page than on the other pages.
    I hope this is not the equivalent of the brakes going soft............

  • Accidentel erase and fix of main blog page

    2 things, I accidently erased the "Go to archive" link from my main blog page and I can't get it back, also on the main blog page it doesn't show all my entries only a few but if I look at the Archive or the entries page they are all there. Any Suggestions?

    There are a few steps you need to go through to make this all work. There also may be a better solution.
    1) DNS: You need to have 10.5 Server running DNS.
    a) Under the Zones Tab: You must have a ZONE setup for your domain name... this must be fully qualified (ie. mydomain.com. - the trailing period is important).
    b) You must have MACHINE records setup for both of your intended subdomains (ie. kids, parents). You'll want the IP address associated with each of these to match the public IP address that your domain host is pointing at.
    c) Don't forget to SAVE (Restarting the service wouldn't hurt either).
    2) Web: In the Sites pane you need two entries (one for each subdomain... a third if you would like to use the www.mydomain.com).
    a) Under the "General" Tab: Each entry should be set to port 80 with IP Address set to "any". You can specify unique Web Folders at this stage, though you shouldn't have to if you're using the default Wiki/Blog service.
    b) Under the Aliases Tab: Be sure that none of the Sites entries include "*" as an Web Server Alias. This will cause all traffic to be directed at that entry. Add the full subdomain address under Web Server Alias for each entry (ie. kids.mydomain.com).
    c) Under the Aliases Tab: Add a rule to the URL Aliases and Redirects. Type: RedirectMatch Pattern: ^/$ Path: /groups/kids/ (or whatever the path to the kid's group is). Now any request for kids.mydomain.com/ will be rewritten kids.mydomain.com/groups/kids/ The RedirectMatch rule wouldn't be necessary if you later decide to abandon Apple's Wiki/Blog - you can simply change the Web Folder setting to point to whatever files you'd like to serve.
    d) Be sure to click SAVE (Again, restarting the service wouldn't hurt either).

  • Email link - link problem on events and blog pages

    I added a email link on a master page - link works properly on all except blog pages and events pages -
    on these pages it links to http://www.h2oonstone.com/mailto:[email protected]  which brings up a bad request
    the link on my celebration page works Celebration | Water on Stone Productions | Art, Music, Magic
    but on the individual events pages they don't - example National Wildlife Day -
    also doesn't work on blog main Water on Stone Watershed
    or on the individual pages  Smoothie Love | Watershed | Water on Stone Productions

    Hi Sanjit -
    The workaround works - but - I had to fix it on the events and e-commerce templates too - and the error template as well.
    The problem is is that every time I make a change and upload the muse file I will have to modify these html pages and that is unsustainable… way too much work as I will be modifying the pages frequently till I have site completed.
    Also strange - on the Blog pages that when I reimplemented the email link (on the master page)  that the normal state does not remain white but defaults to a black - which I suspect has to do with the link default states. I haven't been able to fix this today.
    All the other buttons - with links off-site maintain the states and links work.
    Thanks, Ann

  • Limit of blog entries in Archive

    I have a blog with 201 entries. I had it set up so that the main page displayed 5 and the rest were on the Archive page. Tonight I noticed that the first 13 were not displaying on the Archive.
    I have temporarily fixed it by increasing the main page to 30 entries, but it still seems that there must be a limit. I know this has been discussed elsewhere and it's been stated that there is no limit... my experience seems to indicate otherwise. Any suggestions?

    this is just an out of nowhere guess since i will probably never ever reach 200 posts in iweb's blogging system (and i don't think this explanation explains how when you switch it up to 30 on the front page it changes the archive)... but maybe the limit is in fact 200 something for the DISPLAYED archive.
    ... meaning if you use the little search function you can still see your oldest blogs, but they are just not displayed on the archive page because of an iweb limitation.
    well that is my best guess...

  • Recreate a blog page to link with existing entries

    My hard disk crashed a while ago, and although it was replaced under Applecare, some of my data was either corrupted at the time or subsequently and hasn’t copied back successfully. The problem I’m stuck with now is that I can’t get iWeb working again properly, and I need to find out if there’s a way to recreate a blog page that will link to the existing series of entries which show up ok in the edit entries area, just not on the lead blog page itself.
    Here’s more detailed info:
    I've copied the whole Site folder from my iDisk, but can't seem to force iWeb to read from it. I can find the Domain file in my user library, and tried removing it to make iWeb create a new one, which I hoped it would rebuild from the downloaded Site folder which I swapped in for the old one that appears to be corrupt.
    However, iWeb is a stubborn little so-and-so, and I just can't get two key parts of the site I've built within it to now see their links. The main opening page of the website is a blog, and that is completely blank, even though the series of entries are present. The archive for this section is also blank. This is my biggest worry, as if I try to publish and the index page is blank then there's no way to navigate to the rest of the site.
    The second part that's playing up is also a blog, called Soul Blog, and for this one the blog page is partially there, but missing the list of entries (you can see the header section and a few Google ads down the right hand side). Again the entries are present, although several are missing their media (I think that may be a few files that were lost in trying to reinstall my data onto the replacement hard drive when mine crashed). On this one the archive seems fine.
    I've added here a series of screenshots to illustrate what I mean, and whereas with a normal page I could just rebuild it, I can't figure out how to make a blog page and tell it to access all of the existing entries the old one linked to. So if any of you have any idea on how to go about this I'd be eternally grateful! Here are the screenshots, and many thanks for any help.
    Sean

    iWeb doesn't have an integrated way of doing this (perhaps in iWeb 2.0?), so you'll have to do post-publishing editing. One approach is to use a Flash-based viewer...
    SimpleViewer is a free, customizable Flash image viewing application:
    http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/
    Here's an example integrated into an iWeb site:
    http://www.rowan-cottage.co.uk/Site/Events_Photos.html
    And here's a tutorial on how to do it:
    http://www.rowan-cottage.co.uk/Site/SimpleViewer.html
    An alternative viewer is:
    http://www.bananalbum.com/
    Here's a thread discussing various alternatives:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4403028#4403028
    Bear in mind that with such "viewers" you're not going to have complete flexibility on the placement of your thumbnails. For absolute control of thumbnail positioning and behaviour you would need, for example, a JavaScript script. Softpress' "Freeway Pro" web-design software incorporates a "Slave Show/Hide Image" JavaScript "Action":
    http://www.softpress.com/actionfiles/Slave_Show_HideImage/
    ...but then you would be moving away from being a pure iWeb site.

  • Blog Page- Getting started

    I created a new website and included a blog page. My issue is that I cannot delete/remove the original content on the page so that I can customize for my page. Longboarding entry is still appearing on the blog page and I cannot update, get rid of it.

    MeganSS,
    A blog is made of 3 type of pages the blog page where people land and see your entry. an entry page where you post your entries and control what happens in your blog and an archive page that will essentially take care of itself.
    In iweb right below the page named blog you will see a page called entry. Go on that page and there you will be able to edit text and photos as well as the date and whatever you want. If you delete the photo holder and replace it by a regular photo, that photo will not show up on the main blog page. If that happens you can restore the photo by copy paste from another blog entry page.
    Have fun with your blog
