IWeb 08 external links correct on podcast entries, however wrong on index

Hope the title makes sense; Basically the podcast entries we create have an external link to some referenced sites and they work fine when looking at that podcast entry, HOWEVER the auto generated index page (listing all the podcast entries) shows a preview of the text of the Podcast and we've noticed that the SAME external links are altered, forward slashes are replaced with %253 and spaces with %25220 (I can understand spaces being replaced with %20! but NOT this)
This only happens with EXTERNAL links. You can see it on the Index page BEFORE you even upload the site. So clearly something is odd in iWeb 08 and not specific to using .MAC or an external host.
Is anyone else seeing this? We recreated the Podcast from scratch to ensure no iWeb 06 bad info was present.
This just tops it off... The LACK OF NOTIFICATION on sites URL's being moved due to folder name changes and now this. iWeb 08 needs some attention ASAP. Is there a clean way to back rev to iWeb06 (can you keep both installed at the same time?)

I'm having the exact same issue, not necessarily with podcasts, just that any external link works fine except in the rss feed, where characters are replaced with %xxx and return 404 errors.

Crawling/Indexing external links in CM-Repository

I would like to do the following:
- Create an external Link or a HTML site with external links in a CM-Repository.
- Create an index with a crawler, which crawls the
created links and HTML site and follows links on
external sites to a certain depth.
I used the standard crawler for this. But it had not the
desired effect: Only the HTML sites directly in
CM-Repository and behind the external links are crawled
but no links in these sites are recognized by the crawler
I adjuste the crawler parameters like:
- Maximum Depth: 10
- Follow Links (ticked)
- Follow Redirects on Web-Sites (ticked)
but it did not help!
I know it sounds like you could just say: "Use a
Web-Repository for this..." but I can not do this in
this context. Or is this the only repository manager
which is aware of following links?

The reason why I did not want to use Web-Repositories for this was, that I could not find a documentation on how to create the necessary objects in KM programmatically.
(And I think it is not obvious from the documentation that you specifically need a Web-Repository for this!)
Is there a API to create a HTTP-System, WebSites and Web-Repositories which is documented?
I could not find any on SDN, but perhaps you or anybody else knows some resources?

Adding a new podcast entries page in iweb

I am sure this is basic stuff, but it is escaping me. I built an iweb site (published in Mobile Me). I added a video podcast page then added the first video podcast entry. All went well. I want to add another video podcast entry and this is where I get lost. I assumed that I could duplicate the first entry page I created, edit it and add the new video podcast and publish. I am unable to duplicate the page. I have a rather highly customized page and really do not want to recreate it from scratch. Maybe I do not need a podcast page and I should just use a movie page, though I did want subscribe feature. The feed URL you give redirects to http://kaufmak.wordpress.com/category/podcasts/feed/ which is the URL being used by iTunes. This feed has only the one episode in it, that of 15 February, and that shows in the Store and when subscribing.
You are creating your feed in Wordpress: so if you have added an episode there you haven't taken whatever steps are necessary to get it into the feed - I'm afraid I can't advise on WordPress. You can only edit description and other data in WordPress; Chrome will allow you to examine the feed but not edit it.

How to create a Download button in podcast entry

I've created a site with multiple podcast. I created the podcast by just dragging and dropping mp3 files to the image placeholder. This seems to work fine. Now I'm trying to add a download link for each podcast in the Archive page. The idea is that site visitors can choose to download the mp3 file rather than use quicktime to hear it from my site. How do I do this?
Also I've tried to put a download link in each podcast page. I'm having difficulty getting this done as well. Any ideas would be appreciated.

This might help since I did something similar. If you understand where your podcast is stored on your iDisk, then you can link to that file by telling iWeb that it is an external link. Then your visitors can control-click or right-click the link and from the popup menu choose to download the linked file.
The trick is finding the right web address for the mp3 file. I can get you started if you can't figure out the url.

Is there a limit for external links in TOC using RoboHelp 9.2?

Hi,
This is my first time posting to the Adobe forums. Here is my problem.
I have been maintaining help projects using RoboHelp 9.2 for quite some time now to generate WebHelp. I now have four large projects that are linked through a URL in each project's TOC. Example: I have projects A B C D. In A's TOC, I include a link to B C D default topics. In B's TOC, I include a link to A C D default topics. And so on ... The fourth project (D) is new.
The problem I've encountered is with the image appearing in the TOC next to the external link entry for project D in the generated WebHelp. The image showing up for project D is different from the other two, even though the properties for that page are exactly the same as the other two. This happens in all three remaining projects (A B C). Even when I change the image (from the image index), the same image (i.e. the standard image for a topic page) appears regardless.
What should appear in all cases is image 13.gif.
(I'll have to figure out later why 19.gif is selected in the properties dialog, whereas 13.gif is actually showing up in WebHelp. Doh.)
Any ideas?

No. Time Machine should be on a separate HDD and will take care of deleting backups when necessary on that drive.

All Macs using Time Machine will experience the same conditions. The problem is that many users do not under stand what 'Other' is and that leads to confusion. There are many essential OS files in that category that should not be touched as well as some user files. The issue is not to reduce 'Other' as such, but reduce the total amount of data on the HDD if space is becoming a premium.

CS3 - Design View not showing externally linked images

In CS3 Design View, externally linked images are not showing
up... i am only getting the place holder.
To prempt some questions:
1/ Links are correct and complete - apart from the fact that
they show up when previewing in the browser(s) - i have
crosschecked
2/ There are no spaces in the url
3/ In the 'View' menu, 'Display External Files' is checked
I had this problem before and escargo suggested saving and
rebooting. It worked then but strangely, today, that file is again
showing some of the externally linked images but not all. And on a
new file, created today, none of the externally linked images are
showing up... :(
I'm sure there's a simple solution to the problem... anyone
have any idea what it could be?

Is the path/shape closed?
Selecting it and Ctrl/Cmd+J should close it if not, then you may try again.
You may also have a look in the Document Infor palette with Objects ticked in the flyout and the path selected.

Redirect from task-flow to an external link

Hi,
From a bounded task-flow I have to use an ePayment virtual system. I have some parameters to fill and call an external link. One of those parameters is the ReturnURL when the payment system will return after finishing the Credit Card payment.
I am confuse about what to give to ReturnURL variable if the call is from a task-flow. Note that I need the return to be in a specific View inside the task-flow to let me modify/add some value to the DataBase.
getHeader did not work because it gives the following:

Hi Jamil,
First of all in your case as you want to return to the page in ADF from the epayment, you must to use the UN-bounded task flow with a page that has bookmark flag==true in order to be able to return to that page in your UN-bounded task flow.
But if you are insist to use the bounded task flow when creating that task flow in the create page un-check the property use-page-fragment.
then, drag a page ->.jsp not .jsff on that bounded task flow and when you run that page from bounded task flow you will see the address.
use that address for the return-path.

those with bold is what the parameter must be included when you just right-click on the page on the bounded task flow and run it you will see the URL. just use that URL.
But if you want to use page fragment to be included in the popup in the page it is not possible to return to them.
to complicate the situation I have to add another problem that when you want to return to a page in the bounded task flow that page must be only the Entry point (the page with a green hollow around it) if you want to return to a page in the middle of the Task Flow you must use a router in the First Entry and that router base on some parameter from Request decide that go to which page.
if you think this senario complecated just drop me an email and I will create a test case for you.
another issue to consider is the property of adf.ctrl-state=16d41j3t8n4* generally when you want to return to an ADF application if you do not specify the exact adf.ctrl parameter to the URL when you want to return to ADF you will face some problem, to clarify the issue when you login to a ADF applicaiton a adf.ctrl parameter is generated that hold the user specific parameter when you leave ADF and want to return to ADF again, as you not login again(create fresh session), you want to continue your last session, you must return to ADF application with same value for ADFctrl.
I hope this issues give you the idea. ;)

Incorrect call to external link

Hello experts,
Business is requiring and external link in a development, so users will click on it and it should take them to a web page in their intranet site. Even when our developer is assigning the correct link, SRM is changing the URL.
example:
The URL we want to access http://www.mycompany.com/sites/intranet.htm
but when we click on it, the system send us to: http://<SRM server web address>/sites/intranet.htm
Complete error says:
Service cannot be reached
What has happened?
URL http://<SRM server web address>/sites/intranet.htm call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available.
Please advice on how to solve this issue. Thanks!

What is this development where the URL is changed, you mention that SRM changes the URL when it is accessed.
Is this custom development using standard SRM functions to read the text/URL contents?
Perhaps you can explain some more about the Development and it's use in your SRM client?

External link opening in a loop

Hi all,
We have a requirement of adding an external link as a new area under the 'Overview' in the Home Page Framework for ESS.
I carried out the following steps -
- Create a z-resource for the url, in window name mention u2018_blanku2019. In the url path mention the url of the link to be called. Eg. Http://www.google.com.
- Create a z-area.
- Assign z-area to area group page (SAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005).
- Create a z-subarea.
- Assign z-subarea to z-area.
- Create a z-service, mention u2018service typeu2019 as u2018direct URL launched in separate windowu2019.
- Assign z service to the z-subarea
- Go to content admin and do the following settings :
o create a new iview using the i-view template.
o Select template SAP WebDynpro i-view
o Select application type as u2018WD fo Javau2019.
o Enter application name as u2018sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuAreau2019, namespace as u2018XssMenuAreau2019, and application parameter

However, the link is opening in a loop that takes us to u2018Overview' page over and over again in the development portal.
We are unable to point out the cause of this difference in behaviour between the two portals inspite of the same settings.
Any pointers on how we can rectify this issue will be appreciated.

Thank you very much for your help and valuable suggestion.
I've tried your suggestion but ran into some problems. The links I am trying to open in another window are actually PDF files that the viewer can download from my website.
Since I was having problems I decided to try something else. After publishing the website to my desktop I then opened the pages where the links are in Dreamweaver. The layout view is great and displayed the image just the way it appears on the browser's window. I first selected the "link button" to the file and then in the inspector windows (bottom of the page) I chose under target the "_blank" option. This tells the software that the linked page or file is to be opened in a new blank browser window. I then saved the page (re-saved it over the existing file) to incorporate the changes. After this I proceeded to navigate through the website and everything works great.
Thank you for your help and suggestions. I just thought I would post this here in case it may be of help to you as well as others.

Please! Help me with External Links.

when I click the button to "Enable as a Hyperlink", the default seems to be to an "External Link". In addition to this, an address shows up in the URL window.
The problem is that I don't know where this particular address came from and I will never, never link anything to it. Does anyone know how I can get rid of that link as the default, or replace it with one that I might ever use?
I posted this problem before, but it seems to have disappeard form the list.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

That URL is a default URL. It is either "http://www.apple.com" or whatever URL you last copied to the clipboard.

That default will always be there and I'm not sure how you would change it (though it probably can be changed if you dig into the iWeb code). Clicking it twice allows you to select the entire thing and delete it and, having the wrong thing in there forces you to enter something at that point. Which is a better idea than publishing a site with a dead link.

Deleting Podcast Entries - A missing feature

I understand that you can delete a podcast entry. However I hate the way it permenantly masks the entry, so there is no way to download it again, other than removing the complete podcast and re-subscribing.
A problem with this method arises when you have a whole bunch of episodes in a podcast already downloaded.. When you remove the podcast but keep the files intact, iTunes just ignores them when you re-subscribe and everything is greyed out. Clicking "get" at this point just makes iTunes download a duplicate file.
A feature that is really missing from iTunes is the ablity to "unmask" the deleted episodes. So they can be re-downloaded. It's not really iTunes' fault per-se. Pretty much every rss reader and podcasting application does it the exact same way, but it really needs to change, and I'd love to see iTunes lead the way.
Maybe the "get" button to the right of the entry could change to a "remove" button. When pressed, the actual file would be removed, but the entry would remain intact and the button would change back to "get".
I don't know exactly. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants this feature badly. I'm running out of diskspace keeping every podcast on my machine, but I don't want to delete them from iTunes, incase I want to download them again. I've resorted to just deleting the file from my computer and ignoring the "!" error beside the file.

KM content exoport with ICE: External Links are not transported

Hi,
We have to move KM content from DEV->QUA->PRD, so we've set up ICE. ICE is working without any problem. All Objects are transported, but there is an exception,External Links are not moved. (Internal Links are transported correctly!)
We are using Portal 2004s (sap.com/SAP-JEECOR 7.00 SP8, sap.com/SAP-JEE 7.00 SP8)
We tried it with Portal Drive, but External Links are not possible to be copied. (I can see the file for a short time(1-2 sec) in the target folder, but after refresh it disappears from the folder.)
Does anyone have experienced such an issue, do you know any ideas to resolve this problem?

Clicking links in video podcasts no longer works

Until recently I have been able to click links in video podcasts and they opened the link in my default browser, Safari, 3.x. Starting about 2 - 4 days ago this same mouse action would only start and stop the podcast.

The videos play in iTunes without trouble... Shouldn't that indicate that they should play on the iPod?
Also, I know that the podcast format has not changed - I am actually the one that produces the podcast. I subscribe to be sure they are posting correctly.
