Iweb '08 going bezerk

I believe this is the first time I've had an apple program go completely bezerk on me. When I open up iweb '08 it tells me that I need to update my domain file. When I do this all my videos go missing and at least half of my photos go missing. Then half the time I open the program all the pull down windows end up just as A's with boxes around them (so completely gibberish). After I get the gibberish it won't let me move to different pages in my website. So basically iweb '08 is completely unusable for me. It's making me pretty frusturated. Anyone have any ideas of how to fix these problems?

I am also having this problem. When I open my domain file half the stuff in the domain gets immediately "lost." Before I open it the file is 125 megs, after it's opened it drops to 7 megs, and I get missing media errors on every page. I've taken to always working with a backup of the domain, and using Apple's Backup App to make a backup every time I make a good domain file. It's scary.

  • Fatal problem with screen going bezerk

    Hi all
I have a serious issue with my MBP-12 (not the newest version) that goes like this: At work, I use an external monitor (via displayport) with a different resolution. My MBP is ”closed” and called up soley by the connection. When I leave for home, I simply unpluck the cables (power, usb, displayport) and the MBP hypernates. When I come home, I open up the mac and it would normally just adjust screen resolution and be ready.
However: Lately, I get a serious fault here. The screen goes bezerk and shows all kinds of dots. Even if I close the screen again, it will not come back to normal. I have to pull the emergency break and power off totally and the reboot.
I am unsure if this has to do with the new Mt. Lion. I have upgraded to that.
Or if it has to do with a hardware fault – a loose connection or what ever.
    So:
    - is this a known issue – that the MBP (perhaps due to Mt. Lion) has problems with switching between resolutions?
    - or could the be a hardware fault here?

  • TS3161 I thought iWeb was going to be obsolete after June 30 2012?

So if I have to find another host can they just use the current web information or do I have to design a new site?
    Any suggestions???
    Thank you!

iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • FaceTime connects and Apple Mail goes bezerk making noise

Each time I have my MacBook Pro up and running, with my Apple Mail app running and I connect via FaceTime to someone, the mail program starts making tons of nosie as if it's sending and receiving mail over and over and over and over again...
    Anyone else having this issue?
    Anyone know a resolution?
    Scott
    I have a 2/2011 MBP 15" maxed out
    iPhone 4s

I have the same issue with FaceTime on my i5 iMac running 10.7.3.  If I forget to quit Apple Mail before Facetime connects, the program's alerts start sounding for no apparent reason.  The connection to FaceTime remains stable, and the person I am speaking with does not hear the sounds.

  • Background Eraser going bezerk

If I’m working on a project and am in background eraser mode, when I go to start using it, it promptly starts erasing all over the picture-looks like anywhere I would have crossed the picture in the last ? minutes... takes several seconds till it does all this and I can use Control Z to undo!!  What is wrong??

I have the same problem on both my desktop ( windows 7 pro ) and laptop ( windows 8.2 ). My Desktop also has PS CC that works fine. I have never had issues with photoshop cs5, cs6 or CC but CC2014 is just a mess. I just don't use it on my desktop but was not given the option to install PS CC instead on my laptop.

  • How do I create two iWeb sites using a single .Mac account?

I would like to create two distinct sites/URLs using iWeb and a single — not a family — .Mac account. Is this possible? If so, what are the basic steps?
When I read related forum posts, it would seem to me that one site would overwrite the other site when I publish. Yes or no?
    iBook 1.2 mhz, G4   Mac OS X (10.3.6)
    iBook 1.2 mhz, G4   Mac OS X (10.3.6)
    iBook 1.2 mhz, G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iLife 06

I would like to create two distinct sites/URLs using
iWeb and a single — not a family — .Mac account. Is
this possible? If so, what are the basic steps?
If you just do the obvious and use File > New Site in iWeb, you do create two distinct sites with different urls. However, you cannot exactly duplicate page names in the sites or publish changes in one without publishing changes in the other. The short default url web.mac.com/username/iWeb normally goes to the top site on the list within iWeb.
If you create two sites with distinct names in different accounts on your machine, they should not overwrite each other, and they should also have distinct urls. However I think that the
index.html file which tells browsers what to do with the default short url web.mac.com/username/iWeb may get confused, so that deleting that or modifying it manually might be desirable.

  • Multiple sites created in iWeb '08 / Personal Domains for Each?

If I create more than one site in iWeb, can each site have its own Personal Domain?
So far, I have created 2 sites: When I publish the first one, it shows up on the web as http://web.mac.com/myname/nameofmysite/etc (which is fine). But I would like for the 2nd site to go to my personal url.
I registered my domain name with GoDaddy, and have gone thru the process of assigning the CNAME at GoDaddy and Personal Domain at mac.com
The problem is: When I click on Visit Published Site in iWeb, it goes to my domain name (www.mydomainname.com/my2ndsitename), but still showing the standard "placeholder" home page at GoDaddy.
What do I need to do to make my ONLY my 2nd site show up at my personal url? And do I still need to do something else at GoDaddy to make my actual site appear at my personal domain url?

The site you want to use CNAME with must be the topmost site in the organizer at the left side inside the iWeb app when you publish (or the last site you publish if you are using separated Domain files).
It would be good to provide your url(s) if you want further help.
Only one CNAME type pointing can be used per account, but you can use ordinary forwarding/masking for other sites, where you just type the longer url (http://web.mac.com/username/sitename) into a form at the place which has your name.

  • How can I transfer a site that was made in iWeb to a new web design service? Please tell me I don't have to build again from scratch!!

I have a site that I update for a large group of educators.  It has years of info and pages and it was all created in iWeb.  It's a great site and people rely on it!  I found out that iWeb is going away and I need to find a way to keep updating this site asap.  Help!!
PS:  IMO Apple should be making a web design app that supports the continuation of sites built in iWeb AND has the ability to update them with all the design features that they claim iWeb isn't equipped to handle instead of throwing us all out on the street.  If this does exist, and I don't know it, please, someone tell me!

You don't need to upgrade to Mt Lion to use iWeb 3.  It works fine in Lion and Mt Lion. Read the following for use if iWeb in Lion and Mt Lion.
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • IWeb Hyperlink

I managed to set up an image on iWeb to work as a hyperlink to an external web site I have. While I am in the iWeb application, I can click on the picture and it takes me to the webpage I want it to link to.
However, when I go to the published iWeb page the little blue arrow in the corner of the picture is now gone, and the picture no longer functions as a hyperlink.
Can someone please help me understand, why the link doesn't work when the iWeb page goes online?
    Thanks in advance,
    ~ john

Thanks, Gang. I am pleased to report that the image on my iWeb is now a hyperlink to my other site - a HomePage that is using my own domain name as the URL.
I trashed the image that was causing me all the grief, and re-imported it from iPhoto using the Inspector. I made certain there were no interfering "thin lines" behind the spot where I was placing the image, ie misplaced text boxes, etc, in the background.
Following that, I cleared the caches, and put in to place the excellent strategy outlined by Mark. His post is so bang on, that I am reposting it here, as others will be save a lot of frustration.
In iWeb, open your photos page in which you want to create your hyperlinked photos.
From the menu options at the bottom of the iWeb window, click on the green Shapes box, and select the square. Position the square over the photo you wish to hyperlink, and expand it to cover the photo. Now open Inspector.
Click on Graphic Inspector, (third from the right in the Inspector menu options), and define the square as follows:
    Fill: None
    Stroke: None
    Opacity: 1%
Open your TextEdit.app and type in the urls you wish to use for your links. This isn't exactly necessary, but it will save a little aggravation when it comes to setting your links in Inspector. Highlight and Command+C the specified url for the hyperlink. Now, back in iWeb, highlight the box you just set up and in Inspector, check the box next to Enable as a Hyperlink. The copied url will automatically be placed in the hyperlink field. Click on the iWeb page and the link will be set.
You have now hyperlinked an invisible shape, placed over the photo, to your target url, making it appear as if the photo itself is the hyperlink.

  • How can I find and edit my website on iWeb? It has disappeared

I created my website on iWeb and published it on Google.  I have revised it a couple of times but now, when I open iWeb, the website is not there.  I just get a new templatae.  "Visit" is unavailable. • Iweb & Leopard

Hi all, When I publish a web page in Iweb it goes to preferences. I can't update the web page on the web like I did on Tiger??????????
    [email protected]

This is my first post here. If I am doing something wrong, let me know. My MAC worked fine to upload photo albums from iphoto to the iweb to be published. Then, a week ago, it gets stuck on accessing the webpage to publish. It never gets the pics published. I loaded LEOPARD on there about three weeks ago, but it worked once or twice after that. it's as if I am trying to access my webpages to pubhlish without proper usernames or something. Please respond via email too. [email protected]

  • Changing hyperlinks in iweb

when i attempted to reformat the hyperlinks in iweb, it wouldn't allow me to change anything on the site. i disabled the links, went to formatting and won't allow anything.
    any ideas?

glad to help. I have been daydreaming about a third-party iWeb master site...where all the other sites are linking to. It would hold all the knowledge folks have learned over the years, and it would still be up if Apple deep sixes this iWeb discussion group.
There are so many little hints and tricks that make using iWeb so much more fun. I know there a lot of folks here who have their own iweb help sites, but it will take a ton of google search to find them after this focus for iWeb users goes dark...if it fact, it does.

  • IWeb Online Photo Albums

What am I supposed to do with all my meticulously created online photo albums now that iWeb is going away?  Any suggestions?

You can find a 3rd party hosting service and move your iWeb sites from your iDisk to it and continue as before.  Of course there will be somethings that iWeb will lose upon moving to a new server and the MMe servers are taken off line June 30, 2012:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.  However, the boxed iLife 11 at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.  Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.
There are a number of web development applications out there that you can migrate to once iWeb no longer works or does'nt suit your needs.  They vary in their ease of use and simplicity.  Just search the iWeb community as Wyodor suggested to find discussions on the pros and cons of these apps. We have until June 30th to make our decisions and move the sites.  Lots of time to experiment and settle on an  alternative.

  • Why will Safari not play MP3s embedded in my iWeb pages when Firefox can?

One would have thought that if iWeb was going to get picky over the scenarios in which it would behave correctly, it would favour Apple-centric enviroments. But this doesn't appear to be the case when building an iWeb site with embedded MP3 files.
The published site behaves perfectly when viewed in Firefox and yes, even IE's latest incarnation. Files may take a while to download but they play when the download has finished. Safari is a different story. The MP3 files embedded in some pages simply will not play when viewed with Safari.
This page in particular has never worked in Safari -
    http://www.whisperycat.co.uk/version_5/sounds/Entries/2011/3/23_Promenade.html
A small blue questionmark appears instead of the 'Play' button.
Any workarounds or is it just the case that Safari and iWeb are incompatible on this fundamental point???

Well it looks as though I answered my own question. A Google search revelas that Safari has had over 2 years' history of reported problems with the mp3 format -
    http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=safari+wont+play+mp3&ie=UT F-8&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&ei=nkulT9_wA82g8gOPj8ntBA
    - and the solution is... STOP USING MP3 FILES
Yes, mp3 format is out, mp4 format is in. SO I'll need to upload MP4 versions of my audio files and then retry.
