IWeb '08 movie playback problem on Windows

Hello,
I used iWeb '08 to create a Photo Page that I've uploaded to my .Mac space. The Photo Page is mostly photos, but also contains two movie clips. One is a 1 MB .AVI file. The other one is an 8.7 MB .m4v file.
When I load up the photo page in Firefox or Safari on my Mac, everything works like a charm. However, when I view it in Firefox or IE6 on my husband's Windows XP machine (which does have Quicktime 7), a strange problem occurs. The video plays, but then immediately after it finishes, it goes to a white screen. The address bar in the browser reads: javascript:PhotoViewDonePlaying(0). The screen is all white except for one word at the top which says "false."
Has anyone else encountered this and is there a way to fix it? Obviously, a lot of our friends are going to be using IE or Firefox on Windows machines to view our page and we'd like this not to happen to them! I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Yup, I've just encountered exactly the same problem. The good news is that updating to the latest QuickTime (on Windows) seems to have fixed the problem for me, so you might want to try doing an update...

  • ITunes HD movie playback problems in Windows 7

    I don't understand why this is happening...
    I purchased Guardians of the Galaxy in HD, and iTunes on my Windows 7 machine more or less crashes every time I try to open it.
    The machine is running Windows 7 on an Intel Core i5 2570k with 8GB of ram, with the OS running on an SSD and the media on 3TB WD Red NAS drives in Raid 1 using Intel 3000 integrated graphics. In other words, it should be more than enough to play a freaking 1080p movie.
    It looks like iTunes is using about 20% CPU for minutes trying to load the movie and becomes completely non-responsive as soon as I click play.
    I've tried:
    Uninstalling iTunes and Quicktime, then reinstalling
    Turning off Direct 3D acceleration
    Repairing both iTunes and Quicktime
    Updating my graphics driver
    Checking my drives for errors
    Turning off WiFi sync across devices
    I can play other media that's 1080p without a problem. The file is 4.2GB, but the filesystem is NTFS which shouldn't have a problem handling it.
    Pretty frustrated right now; playing a movie shouldn't require this level of effort.

    I'm exeperiencing the same issue. HD video's in iTunes/QuickTime do not play smoothly, audio is fine, but the video is not smooth. SD video in iTunes/QuickTime is fine, as is any content played through VLC (HD or SD). I've already tried a fresh 10.9 install with the same issues.

  • Toshiba L4353 39" - USB Movie Playback Problem

    Hi,
    I recently bought a Toshiba L4353 39" smart tv, the usb playback does work but i keep having this really annoying problem,
    basically i'm watching a movie file and everything is fine and then for no reason the playback of the file stops and i'm back at the my content screen, this has happened on multiple films and have tried a few different HDD so i can only assume it's the TV, help?
    Thanks, Martin

    Did you test the movie playback using an USB flash memory stick or just USB HDD?
    Does this issue appear playing movies supporting different file format?
    In the [user manual page 89|http://www.toshiba-om.net/LCD/PDF/English/L4353-323950-English.pdf] you can find information about the file compatibility
    Please check if the movie files are encoded properly and use the supported video and audio codec

  • Movie Playback Problems - works on one machine, not another

    Embeded a Windows Movie Maker using Acrobat 9. Works on my machine, but not another. Both are Windows machines. The other machine gets an error message.
    What could be the problem?

    I embeded a wmv file -- just because that's what i created the file with.
    I think I may have solved the problem --  I converted the wmv file into a
    flv for acrobat 8 and higher, then embeded movie file into the pdf.

  • Movie playback problem for PC iTunes

    Hello,
    I recently began having an issue with playing movies in iTunes.  For some reason, I am no longer able to play music videos / movies in my iTunes.
    When I click to play the movie, the screen is completely back and the timer / play length, is already at the end of the movie.  However the movie does start at the correct spot, as I am able to very briefly hear the audio.  Additionally, if I were to scroll through the movie I could see the visual, however if I click to a certain area I will just see a frozen frame and the movie will fail to play.
    I followed all the trouble shooting steps listed by apple and other steps like making sure all the software is up-to-date, etc.
    Anyone have any similar issues or advice to tackle this problem?
    Any help at all would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jordan

    I have similar problem on  both my Windows 7 Laptop and XP desktop. Movies will not start in my case, but if i use Windows media player they work fine. Both running the latest 10.x. version

  • Can any one help me with CD/Audio disc playback problem on media center m8200n running Windows Vista

    I have HP Media Center m8200n Dest top running WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT edition.It  has MEDIA CENTER and MEDIA PLAYER. I experience problems with the computer being able to play CD music discs.  What happens is that the Disc will play only for 63 seconds exactly and then stop playing the track, the player will then skip tracks, settle on another one, play it for a few moments and then skip to the end and then play nothing. It gives me an error message that it cannot read the disc.  This happens with any and every standard store bought CD new or used. These CDs also do play on my laptop running basically same operating system.  This happens whether I trying to Play a disc or burn the disc to the hard drive.  The drives work great though as they do play DATA discs all the way through. MP3 discs play fine.  It also plays the DVD movies with no problem. Windows media player doesn't make it work, also installed VLC player and REALPLAYER to try some other players and they also don't work for music, only DVDs. They all only produce 63 seconds of music play back  from a disc. I've already tried Changing ENHANCEMENTS, UPDATING DRIVERS, UNINSTALLING THE DISC DRIVE and then re-installing back into WINDOWS but none of that helped. SYSTEM came with the integrated REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO on the mother boad for multi channel playback options and I've downloaded those updated drivers again but that doesn't do anything.  Thinking it might be a hardware drive problem I purchased a new LG BLU-RAY DRIVE/BURNER super multi drive which plays fantastic for any video format from Blu-Ray to regular DVD format with the Power DVD software but the machine is causing even this new drive to have the same problem with the audio and it cuts out playing the audio disc within the same 63 seconds running audio disc. . There seems to be a software glitch and I'm wondering if you can help.  Also the sound card seems to work perfectly fine. I downloaded I-Tunes and copied over audio files to the computer via my flash drive and when I play those files from the hard drive, or even the sample windows media files which reside on the hard drive in MY MUSIC, all files play through perfectly, fully, and with great sound. Audio out jacks in back of computer work fine as also does the front head phone jacks upfront. Something in the software when playing a audio disc/file through the dic drives???? I've got hundreds of CD and it's a bummer not beng able to lay them through the system. Does anyone think moving from VISTA PREMIUM to a upgraded version like ULTIMATE or even going up to Windows 7 might solve problem??? What about the 32 bit verses 64 bit editions??? My system should be able to run in the 64 bit frame work also. THANK YOU in advance!!!

    Hi,
    All dimms work individually?  Did you run a bootable memory diagnostic to determine the reliability? Did you run a diagnostic on the hard drive?  I believe that your PC came with PC Doctor and that you can create a bootable diagnostic disk. Did you create that disk?  Be sure to purchase memory dimms from a manufacturer that will stand behind their product with a guarantee such as Crucial, Corsair or Kingston. Buy directly from the manufacturer and they will stand behind the guarantee. Be sure that all of the dimms are identical. Use CPU-Z to determine that the specifications are indeed identical.
    You have some options to consider once you can stablize your PC for updating the BIOS.
    Locate a hard drive and use the HP external recovery media to build a VISTA system. -- safest method
    Use a VISTA repair disk and at the command prompt try executing the HP BIOS update (Admin). -- safe
    Try a bootable BIOS update process as suggested at this site. --  less safe but doable

  • Problem with iWeb Quicktime page using Boot Camp Windows XP

    I used iWeb '08 to create a one-page web site with a short QuickTime movie (.mov file). The movie plays fine in Mac OS X Safari. I have a Windows XP Boot Camp partition, and when I boot into Windows and load the web page using Internet Explorer, the movie will not play. It gives a plug-in error and the browser crashes. The same thing happens with Windows Safari. However, the movie plays fine using Windows Firefox.
    Is this an iWeb problem or Boot Camp problem? I don't have access to a straight Windows PC. An suggestions will be appreciated. The URL for the web page is:
    http://www.hearnweb.com/avian/

    The problem was a setting in QuickTime. I enabled "Safe Mode" in the Advanced tab of QuickTime Preferences, which did the trick.

  • I have a Shockwave Error: "This Shockwave movie has errors that have caused playback problems.  Please contact the author of this content regarding this problem.   Shockwave is unable to continue."  What I can make ?

    I have a Shockwave Error: "This Shockwave movie has errors that have caused playback problems.  Please contact the author of this content regarding this problem.   Shockwave is unable to continue."  What I can make ?

    This is some built-in "protection" that was engineered into Shockwave some years ago. It means that SW will ignore the first 10 script errors then throw the dialogue you are seeing. You really will have to contact the developer of the content in question to have it fixed - there's nothing anyone else can do. The developer needs to replicate your error, determine the cause, rectify it and republish their movie

  • Problem with Windows 8.1 and Corseca Byte BT headset

    I recently bought a Corseca Byte bluetooth headset.
    The headset works fine with phones.
    Initially when connected to the laptop running windows 8.1 it works well and continues to flawlessly for hours.
    The problem is when the headset is connected to the laptop but there is no audio streaming (e.g paused a movie playback for attending some other job) and resume playback after 10-15 minutes the audio starts stuttering/ becomes choppy. If I switch off the headset
    and restart it works fine unless it lays unused for some time.
    Windows recognizes the device correctly. I've turned off power management for BT devices and tried to update the drivers without any positive result.
    Initially I thought the headset was defective but since it works flawlessly with phones I think it is a problem with Windows 8.1.
    How to solve the issue?

    Hi,
    Have you also tried to disable power management on wireless network connection adapter? Since some OEM computers also combine some features of Bluetooth to wireless network connection adapter.
    This issue can be mostly caused by drivers. Please contact the menufacturer's to see if the latest driver is compatible with Windows 8.1.
    If not, I suggest you find the driver for Windows 8 /7 and install it in compatible mode in Windows 8.1 to see what's going on.
    Also, post back the C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log and event log you can find in event viewer related to this issue here for our research.

  • Movie playback issues

    My movies are having playback issues again. Default settings are 44.1kHz  16bps  720p HD.
    Operating System: Windows 8
    Itunes Version 12.1.0
    The issue is the sound goes in the beginning of each film. I have a computer which is two years old and yet there seems to be a recurring problem with movie playback.

    I think it depends on which version of iTunes you are using. I had the same problem with digital copy movies when I loaded the 64bit version of iTunes 8.1, iTunes64setup.exe, on a Vista machine. Once I deleted that version and loaded the 32bit version of iTunes 8.1, iTunessetup.exe, I was able to view the movie in iTunes AND download it to my iTouch.

  • Jerky movie playback, but smooth on camera

    I have a Panasonic PV-GS250 I bought in USA and have a great movie on the camera - pretty smooth pans and zooms for a beginner, but when imported into iMovie HD, it plays back jerkily. I'm new at this, but friends don't have same problems - although they use Windows? Film is imported into Mac as NTSC (assume 'cos camera bought in USA), but iMovie should handle all of that no problem, so why the jerkiness? I have checked the Import Perferences and Playback preferences and get no difference on Standard, or Highest! Can anybody help - or do I need to switch to Windows???!

    No, you don't need to switch to Windows.
    But have a look and see what other programs your running on your PB at the same time as iMovie ..movie import and playback uses a lot of resources, so turn off all unnecessary programs, and go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items, and turn off all unnecessary background programs, such as those which wait for incoming fax calls, those which monitor keypresses, and - also in Sys Prefs - turn off any other items you may have (..at the bottom of Preferences..) such as 'Snapz Pro' screen-monitoring/recording software.
    Remove or disable any non-Apple 'codecs' you may have, such as any DVD-burning video software associated with 'Roxio' or 'Toast'.
    Check that, under System Prefs>Energy Saver, you haven't ticked the "Put hard disk to sleep" box, or set any other Prefs to make the computer go to sleep or run slowly (..under 'Optimisation', set it to 'Better Performance').
    Also, try going back to the iMovie Discussions index, where this topic sits, and type JERKY into the Search box at top right ..you'll see a whole load of Discussions, and suggestions about how to improve things.
    Also, go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utilities, select the name of your hard disc, and click on 'Repair Permissions', then wait for a few minutes while your Mac makes sure that all relevant files are set to their appropriate 'permissions'.
    A good way to separate your movie import/playback from everything else which your PB is doing, is to buy an external FireWire hard disc (minimum speed 5400rpm, or - better still - 7200rpm), plug it in, and use that for storing movie footage. Then if your PB has some internal 'housekeeping' to do (..indexing files, keeping track of things, writing and erasing temporary files..) it doesn't interrupt the movie playback, as it's using the internal disc for its own things, and just grabbing the footage off the external disc without its being interrupted.
    Oh, by the way: Welcome to iMovie Discussions!
    Oh, and other people may suggest which is the appropriate version of QuickTime to be using (..I can't remember which is best with 10.3.9..) as some later version(s) ..QT 7..? QT 7.0.2..? may give jerky playback, though I haven't noticed that myself..

  • Slow Movie Playback

    I have created a simulated quiz using Captivate 3 using SCORM
    1.2 with percentage reporting. There are many text and click boxes
    throughout the movie. All the slides (about 80) are set at
    standard. Learners are having difficulty because entering text is
    very slow - words appear after typing and pressing Enter does not
    always register. At times even the click boxes are slow to react.
    The slowness is inconsistent. My LMS provider is telling me
    learners have too many applications open and that is causing the
    problem and that this happens with flash.
    Any suggestions on how to increase the playback of the
    movie?

    Update for people who are looking for a real solution:
    As stated before, HD playback is slow and choppy on a mac if the bitrate is too high. However, if you have a new enough mac (mine is from late 2008) this is not due to hardware problems such as a slow graphics card or slow CPU!
    I restarted my Mac into Windows 7 using bootcamp and I installed the free HD player called Splash Lite http://mirillis.com/en/products/splash.html . Using this player I was able to play all HD videos at any bitrate without any playback problems; no dropped frames, no skipping. While watching a video using this program, my CPU was being used by the program at about 30% which is a lot lower than when playing the same video on a mac program (usually around 90%). The program also notifies me that the GPU is being used for video playback.
    In conclusion, my mac's hardware is very capable of playing HD videos but only if the correct program/OS is used. I believe Apple has just recently released APIs to allow programs to use the full power of the graphics card for video playback. VLC has recently came out with a GPU supported version of its player as well as Adobe Flash. However, performance is still not as good as under windows.
    For now, I have to unfortunately stick with Windows to play my HD movies.

  • Booklet crashing during fullscreen movie playback

    My Nokia 3G Booklet crashes during fullscreen movie playback, usually after 30 minutes. I'm using the booklet to play to a LCD screen @ 1024 x 768 via the HDMI output. The movies aren't even HD, just 600-700MB Avi files. I'm using Windows Media Player version 12.0.7600.16415. Anybody else have this problem? The Booklet gets pretty hot playing movies too.

    About the temperature you should not worry to much, I would suggest you just to try another player, such as GOM Player, and to see if you have same issue, also If you could submit some logs with the latest Error Logs from your system, so that we can check if there is a Kernel Power issue or it might be related to overheating of your CPU. I had seen full movies over HDMI and no issue with it. I guess might be some software issue.

  • Problem loading window component more than once

    I have a swf with a button that opens a window component
    (from my library). it loads fine and also closes fine when I click
    the close button in the window. but when I try to open the window
    again, it actually loads again, but it stalls and locks up
    immediatley. can anybody tell me what is wrong with my code? I also
    was going to have different buttons to open different windows (each
    swf playing a song and has written lyrics). it does the same thing
    when i load the first window, close it, then try to open a second
    window. it stalls and locks up.
    please, I really need some help!

    Ok it sort of works... here is my code:
    on (release) {
    trace("button works");
    win.title = "Yellow Birthday Package";
    win.closeButton = true;
    win.contentPath = "yellowPack";
    win.setSize(550,500);
    var listener:Object = new Object();
    listener.click = function(){
    win._visible = false;
    win.addEventListener("click",listener);
    It order to make it work, the window component has to be on the stage but i want it to popup only when the user clicks on the button. So the window should be hidden/invisible when the page first loads. I tried changing win._visible = true; but that did nothing.
    The other problem is that the movie clip inside the window, isnt aligning center. i can only see a corner of the movie clip. in the top left. I havent tested the whole thing live though!

  • ITunes / Quicktime Video Problems With Windows VISTA

    I took up Windows Vista as soon as it was available and initially had no problems with iTunes. Then later, video clips (those purchased from iTunes and those I had converted myself) started stuttering / freezing and eventually crashing iTunes and finally I lost audio as well.
    Ayyway to cut a long story short, I have uninstalled / re-installed Vista now about eight times for problems with installing drivers for USB devices (I've finally solved all these problems). After the last install the first program I installed was iTunes, tried video and it worked flawlessly. Then, each time I added a hardware device or program I would restart Vista and retry iTunes video.
    The first item I added was a USB thumb drive (as I had on all previous occasions to take advantage of Vista's 'Ready Boost'). The thumb drive is a 'Sony 2GB micro vault tiny', and meets the transfer speed requirements for 'Ready Boost', as soon as I had set the drive up for 'Ready Boost' I started having the same problems with iTunes video and Quicktime.
    Removed the thumb drive, restarted iTunes and had flawless video playback again. Have tried this over and over with the same result.
    So my question is, has anyone else had video playback problems with iTunes / Vista and found similar problems. Trying to tie down whether this is a compatability problem with 'Ready Boost' or the thumb drive used. I have also tried a Sandisk Titanium 2GB with the same result.
    I am not sure exactly how 'Ready Boost' works, I thought it added memory that was used to cache page files to the thumb drive instead of to the HDD making a faster seek /access time? Which should make things faster. Another article I read today was talking about 'Ready Boost' being an affordable extension to RAM, in this case I could understand the problem as I would think the access to a USB 2.0 thumbdrive would be slower than that to RAM.
    Any help appreciated, but I guess my bottom line is anytime I want to watch video on iTunes, I just pull the USB thumb drive .
    PC Pentium 4   Other OS   Windows Vista Home Premium

    I have the same stuttering video issues with iTunes and Vista. While I have used a thumb drive to transfer files (not Sony) I have not yet messed with Ready boost. I have seen several others complain about the video problem, perhaps they will chime in as well. Unfortunately, your solution doesn't work for me. I pretty much ignore iTunes, waiting for the next version (only god knows when it will be released).
    I do have an external firewire drive connected, I'll disconnect later today and see if that has any affect.
