IWeb '08 Text Spacing Wrong on Publish

Hello,
I am seeing problems when viewing by web page after publishing.
Something is going on with the paragraph spacing and font size, where the published page in Safari looks different than what iWeb shows.
I have included two Grab captures.
The picture on the left shows how the text boxes look in iWeb.
The picture on the right shows how the page looks after publishing, and how the alignment, that I had before, changes.
!http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=91406&stc=1&d=1195152432! !http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=91407&stc=1&d=1195152432!
In the right photo, you can see that the font and paragraph spacing on the left-side text, seems to have changed after publishing.
Using iWeb, how should I avoid this problem?
I am using:
iWeb '08 Version 2.0.2 (810A39)
Safari Version 3.0.4 (5523.10)
Mac OS X Version 10.5.1 (9B18)
Thanks,
James

I'm having the same issue. I've tried resetting the spacing using the drag bar and the numbers. I've also deleted the text and started over, with the same result. According to iWeb the spacing is uniform. Have you figured this out?
Thanks

  • Published site - text moved, text spacing inconsistent

I am very new to Adobe Muse, so go easy on me. I created a first site using Muse. In design view, all seems to be fine. When I published the site to Business Catalyst, text included on the top of the page moved up above other text. In design view, it is fine, only when published.
Also, on one of the panels of an tabbed panels used in the site, the spacing of the text is not correct. The text appears as several paragraphs with headings that are different sizes from the content of the paragraphs. The first paragraph looks great. Paragraph two, three, and four have too much space between the lines of text. I had problems changing the font sizes of the headings, this seemed to occur after the issue with the font sizes.
Below is the design view with text in place and text spaced appropriately.
Below is the published view shwoing text with address information moved from its place in design view. It published above the company name. Also the spacing difference in the paragraphs two, three, and four on the right of the panel.
Any help to resolve will be greatly appreciated
Note: I attempted to post screen captures of the issues, but would not post with questions. Again, any help to get them onto the post would be appreciated.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I have screen captured what I reported in my post. Below are the two different captures, the first one is the published image from Business Catlyst. Note the address information is above the company name.
Below is a capture from Design view from within Muse showing the correct placement of the text. Also, please note the difference in the text spacing in the paragraphs from Design view to the published view. I have reviewed the settings, but cannot determine how to publish to the spacing is the same in parargraphs two, three, and four.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Iweb site - text formatting cv

I've copied and pasted my cv onto a blank iweb template, reformatting, spacing everything in columns using tabs (it's an actors cv and i need several bits of information on one line) but when i publish and visit the site all the line spacing is out of whack, and half of it is off the page completely.
Is there a better iweb template to format a cv on? Do i need to create separate columns/text boxes for the information?
How can i ensure that the page will look essentially the same, regardless of people opening it in other browsers too?
    thanks in advance

How did you use tabs in iweb? If you mean you used tabs in a word processing package then they don't translate to iweb. You can save a Word or Pages document as PDF and put that on your page as a graphic. As I did here

  • Help! I reinstalled my Mac and erased my iWeb page in the program. Its published, is there any way to download the pages from Mobile Me?

Help! I reinstalled my Mac and erased my iWeb page in the program. Its published, is there any way to download the pages from Mobile Me?

To download your pages from MobileMe simply mount your iDisk.
Then navigate to the Web > Sites folder where the pages are.
You can't do anything with them however, since iWeb cannot import them. But it's nice to know that you can download them.
You need the domain.sites2 files, iWeb uses to store its assets. Perhaps you have a backup?
See this page for pictures and movies to learn how to use the domain file :

  • Text spacing

So i'm having trouble with the text spacing in my site. I'm
not the best with dreamweaver so bear with me. I posted my problem
yesterday saying that while the text looks normal in dreamweaver
and firefox when I open it with IE the spacing is all messed up. I
wanted to figure out a way to make it look normal no matter which
browser you use to open it. Someone responded saying to "define it
with CSS". How do I do this? When I highlight the text and go to
CSS styles there is a checkmark next to something so does that mean
it already is defined with CSS? Sorry, i'm just no good with this
    stuff.

    Let's see your page, please.

  • Text spacing in cells changes a few seconds after opening a document

This image shows what I mean. This happens on any Numbers document I open now. The text spacing expands until it's too big for the cell, which then throws the little + symbol.
The only thing I did out of the ordinary was to install MS Word from Office 2008 just prior to this happening.

Thanks!! That worked a treat and I wouldn't of ever thought this was the problem :)
    Really appreciate your quick reply.

  • When texting someone and they reply their replies are not coming through to me and they are being told they are texting the wrong Ipod number....help!

I tried to text my moms phone yesterday and she said she replied but I never got it....a couple hours later someone texted her and said she was texting the wrong number. I had to have my iTunes re-enabled because my account was compromised, could they have given my old number to someone else if so how do I get a new nukmber for my ipod for texting?

You don't need to login to these workstations at all
for the registry to take effect. All you need to do is let the workstations sit in the OU and "soak" the new policy , then restart the stations remotely/manually once or twice. I have about 60 OUs that work this way.
the only other 2 things left are: 1) check if policy replicates to all DCs 2) format reinstall that client or use 2-3 different clients and 2-3 regular PC workstations to test the settings. the 2nd option will confirm if the DevotIT locked the registry settings
    down or not.
I am using two computers to check this and one uses Windows Vista, the computer configuration settings are being applied, but when I do a gpresult /h c:\report.html and have a look there are no registry entries in there.  When I
do the same thing on the thin client, the registry entries show up in the report.html file.  Why would that be?  Is there an issue with Windows Vista?
Also, how can I troubleshoot the replication without creating folders on sysvol.  I don't want to mess with sysvol folder.
Do you know what the Error message means?  I am trying to search for it but haven't really found much.  Is there maybe a listing of errors with GPOs?
       ***** UPDATE:  *****
I checked the details of "Thin Client Lockdown and I have Computer version: 18 (AD) and SysVol (19)
They are supposed to be the same numbers correct?
       ***** UPDATE: July 11th, 1:29 pm *****
I created a new OU and new policy from scratch.  No modifications at all and all new names.  There should be no conflicts at all.  Still getting that error.  No matter how many times I reboot and
no matter what domain server comes up, I still get the same thing.  Both my vista computer and thin client have been moved over to the new OU.
I might create a new thread to put more attention on this issue.

  • Texts displayed wrong in explorer. is it a iweb problem?

Hello, I have some problems with pages being viewed in windows, the text appears at random positions, defaced:
text created in iweb is displayed in different positions when opening the page in explorer in different situations:
font: verdana 10 to 15 points, normal and bold font.
it is supossed that verdana is a universal font, isnt it?
Those are some examples of the problems:
1)example a: simple text box over an image text.
2)example a: simple text box over an image text.
3)example b: simple text box, with inspector: fill -> color fill.
4)example c: simple text box, with inspector: fill-> color fill and align top, middle, or down.
in those examples the text lines are displayed some lines below....with different fonts and different widths....
    so,is iweb generating the problem?
    thanks a lot

  • IWeb looks different in program than published on web

I understand that some of the Fonts I use to create in iWeb won't necessarily translate the same to all computers....but why is the spacing getting messed up as well? This happens most frequently when I use textboxes or pictures in frames, set them to 'Floating,' and arrange them how I want them to look on the page....but then when the site publishes they look totally different online than they do in my iWeb.
How can I at least keep them consistent?? Help!!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. For maximum font compatibility across different computers you should use Web Safe Fonts. Otherwise if a computer doesn't have that font it will substitute one which may not fit the layout.
An alternative is to apply a drop shadow to the text box and set its opacity to zero. That will convert it to an image file which will display the same on all computers. If you have iWeb's preferences set to indicate text boxes that have been converted this is what you'll see in iWeb:
However, it will add "weight" to the page causing it to load slower in browsers. That should be avoided if at all possible.

  • IWeb site looks completely different when published compared to on iWeb...

For whatever reason, whenever I publish my website (I published it to a "local folder"), it looks completely different and VERY ugly.
This is what it looks like in iWeb right now:
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/WWEFreak69/Screenshot2011-03-22at34527PM.pn g
This is what it looks like when it's published:
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/WWEFreak69/Screenshot2011-03-22at33817PM.jp g
    There's an obvious difference.
So what am I doing wrong?

For one thing there are many files that did not get uploaded to the server.  You can see which by viewing your site in Safari and bringing up the Activity window (Command+Option+A).
The pages where the navbar is down the site appear to have much of the site's objects in the navbar section rather than the body of the page.  Go to the iWeb preferences and check the checkbox to show guides and image indicator.
The design link on the home page is inoperable.  Did you intend to have just the text be the link for the hyperlinks on that page or also the image that each text box is on?  Makes for a very small link to find.

  • Why does text appear bold when published?

My entire web site suffers from text that appears bold when I publish. I have followed various other threads, changed typefaces, put in returns and tried a variety of "tricks" and although some people appear to have fixed it, there is no universal fix that I can find. Has anyone else had any luck solving this? It ***** because it makes the whole page look rather unprofessional. www.brain-storm.com is the site.
    Thanks

This problem occurred last night to me as well. I've been using iWeb for a couple of months with no problem. I added a blog entry and some photos last night and then published. When I checked out the site all of my text was bolded.
I'm new to Macs and iWeb so I struggled for hours last night and this morning to correct it. No luck.
Any ideas someone can suggest would be huge.

  • Text Shifted When Website Published

I just published a site using iWeb for the first time, and I'm using a third-party host (50 Webs-free hosting). The site published successfully, and it's a very simple site, mostly just text. The text looks great in iWeb, it is all contained within the existing background color blocks. However, when I look at it on the web, all of the text is shifted to the left. It looks like the text box is bigger than it actually is.
I tried to access the original text box in iWeb, and I can't seem to do it. How do I get the text to appear the same on my computer screen as it does in iWeb?

What's the URL of your site  and the text box of interest so we can examine it first hand?  Also make sure you don't have the text box snug around the text. Enlarge the box a big larger than the text requires.  Also don't have boxes overlapping other boxes or objects.

  • Iweb - photo's are shifting once published....

I am trying to finalize my website but once I publish the file to a folder (on my hard drive) some of the photo's and text are shifting.. It looks perfect in the layout-edit view of iweb, where I created the site, but in the HTML file of the site some items are shifting out of place and over text.. I have tried opening the HTML in safari and firefox and it looks the same in both browsers... The photo's are in the text box (not floating)... Any ideas?? I am new to iweb and am clueless at this point.. Thanks in advance

What's the URL of the site so we can view first hand? If you're adding the photos over text you might consider inserting the photos into the text box and having the text wrap around it as in this demo page: Photos and Shapes in Text Box with Wraparound.

  • Text spacing issues Adobe Captivate 8

    Hi all,
I've already taken this to the adobe help chat and they haven't been able to help me.
I recently updated to Adobe Captivate 8.0.1.242 and it has caused me no end of trouble with spacing.
Basically if I have a text caption with multiple font sizes it causes in a responsive project the spacing to go haywire. Meaning the preview and the published output looks entirely different, the spacing looks to be around 2 or 3 (rather than 1.5) which crops off big chunks of text.
If I roll back to the previous version of the programme, I do not get the same issues.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    M
