IWeb '09 and iTunes Widgets

Does iweb support the iTunes "my favorites" widget?
I copied the code from from my account page when I enabled MyiTunes and pasted it into a text box in iWeb. Is there something else I should do, edit, or change? All I get when I publish is the code in a text box.
Thanks for any help!

I believe the specific name of the iTunes widgets I am referencing is "Publish to the Web"

  • My iTunes widget and iWeb '08

I was able to successfully embed the My iTunes widget into an HTML snippet in iWeb, and it works almost perfectly- I can see My Favorites crawling across the screen, and I can click on a name and have it bring up the album(s) I've purchased- but when I click on an album, it brings up the .Mac equivalent of the 404 error page- right inside that tiny little widget. I'm sure that the widget is supposed to bring up a new page- but how and to where, I haven't a clue. The My iTunes page gives no clue whatever as to what to do next. HELP!

Here's the update with mine: I ended up taking it off of my iWeb site finally because I would have to delete it and re-do it every single day. Not worth it if you ask me! I sent them feedback also, so hopefully the widget can get up and running again. Because when I first had it and it worked, it is really neat! People can see the songs/albums you are buying - really cool. Just wished the danged thing worked is all.
Please, if you are having trouble with your widget, send them feedback!

  • IWeb and iTunes question.....

I'm using iWeb to publish my podcast and have submitted it to iTunes and it has been added to the directory, however, the artwork is incorrect at iTunes. How can I fix this?
I've used all the podcast elements in iWeb and have artwork for the podcast, however, iTunes is using a background image from my website as the artwork to display.
    here's the website link: http://web.mac.com/ericd2/iWeb/

Eric... there is no fix for this yet. Many people are having the same issue. I've searched the discussion board, talked to the genius bar, apple care, itunes support, iweb support, and .mac support. I've tried rewriting my rss.xml file and loading it to idisk and syncing, I've also tried deleting the original podcasting page after copying and pasting all of the text, graphics, audio and video to a new page and resubmitting it to iTunes. I've also had itunes delete the feed and resubmit it.
None of this works. Some of us have artwork, some of us don't. Itunes is aware and is working on it.
Sorry man, wish I had better news.

  • Podcasting with iweb and itunes.

Trying to get set up to podcast some of our programs and not having any luck.
We have an iweb site and when we are prompted to type in the feed URL , would that be our iweb sites URL? it comes back with cant read and invalid.
    What are we doing wrong?

What is prompting you for the "feed URL"? Can you be more specific?
I recommend reviewing this document for general Podcast information as related to iTunes:

  • Homesharing: fail to synch music between iPad3, iMac 10.5.8 with iTunes 10.6.1, and iBook on 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.

I would love some ideas: Cannot get home-sharing to show me any existing iTunes content stored on either of the computers, on my new iPad. Homeshare works between the two comps, (and Apple TV, although unreliably.) Aware of the need to use one identical user ID to sign in to all and iTunes. MacBook currently on OS 10.4.11 with iTunes 9, an iMac OSX 10.5.8 w/iTunes 10.6.1. iPad 3.  My last resorts are to buy Snow Leopard x 2, Buy Lion x 2, and then move to iCloud (losing my iWeb maintenance - disappointed - is Apple giving up all web maintenance capability - or is there an alternative iI am missing?) and then after iCloud move, "hope" that it can all interact better - but not sure why.
Currently the iPad can "see" that the iMac homeshare is there - if I click on the 'more' option, then folllow the 'shared' and select iMac all I see after the spinning wheel is a blank grey screen with iMac written at the top, and a few icons in top and bottom bars. I have tried resetting the iPad, switching the server and computers all off and changing user ID and passwords to all synch. No luck yet. Any ideas?

    1. Yes, you need to buy a new OS. Mac OS X 10.6 requires a Mac with an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM.
    2. It won't erase your files unless a problem occurs. Back up everything anyway; this can be done with Time Machine or by creating a bootable clone, and requires an external drive.

  • IWeb 09 and Aperture

Does anyone know if iWeb 09 fixed the problem with Aperture generated MobileMe Photo Galleries not showing up when you want to insert a MobileMe Gallery widget on your web page? In iWeb 08 only iPhoto MobileMe Galleries showed up, which is a pain since I only use Aperture for my photos.

I use iWeb09 and Aperture2. I could use the gallery widget to link to galleries created with Aperture but only for some of them. One is not to be seen from iWeb.
I followed the suggestion: checked that Gallery are all in the right place on iDisk/../.. deleted iWeb plist and repaired permissions... no change.
If you have a look to my page www.pavesi.net and follow the link to "PHOTOS OF OUR HOLIDAYS" you will find the link to 3 gallery of Berlin and under them the link "QUI" to the gallery which I cannot see from iWeb...
Question : can Aperture publish Web pages to web.me.com ??? It still displays the link to Homepage....wich will be discontinued.

  • Problem with iWeb SEO breaking iWeb blogs (Blog Summary Widget error).

As as happened to many others, my blog was broken. The only thing that showed up when publishing was "Blog Summary Widget", no actual blog.
I came on here and searched, uninstalled with apzapper, deleted preferences before that, tried everything.
    Still the problem.
Then I notice my blog works. I'm excited. I move on in my post iweb part of the process (iWeb SEO and dreamweaver edits) to then see it's broken again.
After some testing (changing 1 file at a time, one step at a time) I found that when iWeb SEO touched the home.html (where my blog is) it broke it.
This is a new phenomenon as I was doing this all the time before with no problem.
I even tried updating to the latest version of iWeb SEO and the same problem.
So if you're having this problem, and are using iWeb SEO, try it without and see if you still have the same problem.

I'm getting the same problem too. I've just updated my iWeb from 1 to 2. I've had to more or less re-create my Blog from scratch as the upgrade wrecked the summary and recent items pages (probably because I'd use jTemplate).
So I created a new Site, dragged the old blog over to it and created a brand new one in my proper site. I then copied all my formatting over AND all the entries. All looks fine in iWeb, but I see the same error messages as described here. Take a look here : http://www.andrewmay.biz/test/
Obviously I've moved a lot of stuff around from the normal White template, and deleted a few things too, but I would have hoped that iWeb wouldn't let me trash things that then broke it.

  • IWeb '09 / Mobileme Gallery Widget / No Albums or Movies / Snow Leopard

This is my first time trying to use the Mobileme Gallery Widget in iWeb '09 and all I can get it to do is tell me "No Albums or Movies". I have non password / no hidden galleries published via iPhoto '09 and iMovie '09. I even tried publishing via me.com. Nothing. It publishes my site to mobileme just fine I just upgraded to Snow Leopard this afternoon if that makes any difference. I had never tried this feature before today so I can't say if it worked prior to the upgrade or not. I do use a personal domain and iWeb does see this and can publish the site to it but all the site has is my test blank page and an blank mobileme widget in it. Any ideas?

    Old Toad wrote:
I'd say Snow Leopard brought it on.
Thanks. I'll try avoiding those features until there's an update to SL and/or iWeb'09. Happily iWeb09 with SL deals fine with my website in its current rather featureless configuration so I'll keep it simple for now

  • IWeb '09 and Google Analytics

So, Apple finally released the feature I've been waiting years for - the ability to upload to FTP in iWeb '09. This is really awesome because iWeb can upload changes to a site only instead of having to export the site to my hard drive then upload the entire site via a separate FTP program.
The only problem is it has basically broken my Google Analytics support. I used to use a Automator script to automatically add Google Analytics code to each page before manually uploading, but now that iWeb does the uploading itself, I can't do this anymore. And the way iWeb implements HTML "widgets", it loads javascripts in a separate file instead of in the main HTML file of each page, which basically means Google analytics won't work.
Does anybody have a good way to get Google Analytics working in an iWeb page without exporting the page and uploading with a separate FTP program?

    J-a-x:
I started using iWeb '08 when it first came out and have been very happy with it. I purchase iLife '09 and have switched to iWeb '09 with very few problems. I use Statcounter (and Google Analytics on one site) and ran into the same problem that you have indicated. Initially, I used the Publish to FTP function and used html snippets for the Statcounter code which worked OK.
One of the problems with using iWeb is that the pages do not always look the same in Safari as they do in IE7. What I do not is publish to a folder then through VMWare Fusion, look at the pages in Internet Explorer. The main difference that I am finding is the text boxes. This procedure allows me to make sure that the pages veiw correctly in IE7 before I publish them.
Once, I am happy with the pages in the website, (at the recommendation of Roddy) the pages are optimized through Website Maestro (WSM). This creates another folder in your Sites folder with each site optimized. I then use iTweak to add the Statcounter codes to the optimized pages and then upload to the server with Fetch. WSM has the upload function, but last night I could not figure out the paths correctly so I used Fetch.
FYI, I am also using Multisite with iWeb '09 and it seems to work fine. I maintain three websites, two of which have similar information. I can be working on a site, use Multisite to quickly switch to one of the other websites, copy information, then switch back to the previous site and paste the information. Seems to work well.
I think an important thing to remember is that most of the people that view your website are going to be using Windows Internet Explorer so it is very important that you make sure that the view they see is correct; in that case WSM is a must have.
Is iWeb '09 worth the upgrade? Yes, I think so even though I have chosen no to use the Publish to FTP function, the Publish to Folder option is much enhanced. There may be some additional enhancements that make it easier to use that I do not use and am unaware.
    Hope this helps!

  • IWeb 09 and Google Adsense

I have a six page website I created in Iweb 09 and I have a Google Adsense account as well. I cannot get the Widget to show up on any of the pages when I publish the pages locally or to my domain. Any suggestions or ideas?

I am having the same issue. Mine WAS working but it stopped. Now I just get a blank black box!

  • Iweb 08 and SlideShow Pro 1.0.3 plugin for Lightroom 1.3.1

I have an iweb site I did last year using iweb 06 and slide show pro with the iphoto plugin and then used the slide show pro in Flash. www.mattmosher.com
That worked great just paste the html code into the exported iweb site and put the slide show folder and swf file in the folder and it worked great.
    NOW
iweb 08 and slide show pro for lightroom gives you a realtime visuals of your slide show. Awesome plugin.
However when I paste the code into my html document the slide show does not show up. It also generates 2 swf files named loader and slideshow pro. Along with 2 xml files named param.xml, images.xml along with a js file swfobject.js
I really do not know how to fix the problem.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this topic???

I don't want to sound mean, but you should'nt have got any firmware updates from any other site other than Apple's or through iTunes, I'm afraid. I think that's where the problem has come from.

  • IWeb '08 and missing comments

I know that there has been some discussion on other threads about comments suddenly disappearing from sites that were made in iWeb '06 and then converted to iWeb '08. (All of my comments disappeared after upgrading...) Before I give up and just accept that all of my comments are gone forever, I thought I would ask:
Has ANYONE successfully upgraded their .mac site from iWeb '06 to iWeb '08 and actually had their blog comments survive (ie. not disappear forever)?
    Thanks for your input!

  • ITunes Widget Builder bug

Oddly, when I went to this area (iTunes Widget Builder) http://widgets.itunes.apple.com/builder/, and began creating a widget by pressing the "Add/Edit Widgets" button, the message box under "Add Podcasts" asks me to "Start with the search bar, then select books to add to your playlist from the results."  It erroneously says "books", when it should clearly say "podcasts".
I found this while hunting around trying to find the place to sign up to sell podcasts on iTunes. Apple's "SellContent" page http://www.apple.com/itunes/working-itunes/sell-content/  does not even mention podcasts. But I did click on the "Learn More" and "Get Started" blue buttons and again "podcasts" are not listed anywhere except in the little drop-down box at the bottom, and that takes me to a login page with Apple ID, but every time I enter my Apple ID, it keeps telling me to create an iTunes Connect account and gives this message "Your Apple ID isn't enabled for iTunes Connect".   The problem is that nowhere do they lead me by providing a link to how to create that specific account for 'podcasts'.  They only have links for other categories like "music, movies, developers or TV shows.
If there is no link to create the account from "iTunes Connect Online Application", or from the other link above, then I don't know where it would be. So where is the page to create the proper iTunes Connect account specifically for Podcast content creators and sellers.

  • Where is the iTunes Widget in Mountain Lion?

On the Apple website, it states there are several pre-installed widgets with Mountain Lion, including the iTunes widget (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11233). However, when I open the dashboard, I cannot see the iTunes widget that I used to use all the time on Snow Leopard for playing iTunes songs/playlists etc...
I was able to download the iTunesTan widget from the Dashboard Widgets page of the Apple site (http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/?r=dbw). It works in a similar way, but what about the Apple version, is that still available?

Having done a bit more digging online, it seems that the iTunes widget was discontinued as of Lion. I intend to contact Apple Support to confirm this... but for now, it seems the closest thing to the iTunes widget that actually works on Mountain Lion is the "iTunesTan" widget.
This link provides a second link to a download of the iTunes widget taken from Snow Leopard: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/19088/how-do-i-get-the-itunes-play-cont rol-widget-back-in-dashboard
If you have backups of a Snow Leopard system, you can also get a copy of the widget from your backup... but I have done that on Mountain Lion and the widget fails to work, so unfortunately the iTunes widget appears to be obsolete as of Mountain Lion.
