IWeb 09 color output messed up

Hi,
I have an iWeb site set up so that an iFrame photo gallery from another site is embedded inside my iweb page. Everything worked beautifully in iweb08. I have set up the embedded gallery so that the background colors are the same as the iweb page (333333) and it blends perfectly. Seems simple enough. web standard colors are web standard colors.
I have just updated my sites to iWeb09 and everything looks great *within iWeb*. iWeb connects to the internet and the preview loads the embedded website and it looks identical to my iWeb08 site. BUT when I publish this site and view it (firefox/safari - windows and mac) the iweb-created site background suddenly appears much lighter (about 555555) than the embedded iframe gallery (333333).
I notice that in the new iweb09 css file, colors are no longer displayed as HTML, but instead the RGB "equivalents". This seems to be the only difference between my old iweb08 css and the new iweb09 css. So I simply replaced the new with the old...Same color problems. *What am I missing?* *What could be corrupting the color output in iWeb 09??* This is really annoying and for now I should probably just revert to iweb08 on my external backup drive. I guess I'll also pick apart all of iweb09's output files to try to find the problem html or css.
Why Apple? Why?????

OK, so I read that support note several times from Apple and figured out how to use it as a workaround. In my case, I needed a background that was the same color as parts of the foreground elements for a seamless blend (a nav bar on the left, done with HTML snippit). It was driving me absolutely nuts trying to get a simple accurate RGB value generated from iWeb. RGB... hmmmmmm. Mucked with my snapshot color HMMMMMM....
Ok, so RGB color spaces are commonly embedded in images, etc. I thought, well, what if iWeb is using that at the time of the assignment of a color to a object (like my stretchable square) and pre-screwing-up the color in the definition of the square? To work around, I would have to do the gamma hokie pokie so my RGB color space was something that iWeb would be happy with... generate the square of color, then set the color space back. In theory, this should give me a proper value for the square's color on output (matches what everyone sees in the &^#% browser). Badda boom, badda bing, it worked:
Steps:
1) set your monitor color space to sRGB IEC61966 in the System Prefs under Display, Color tab
2) generate your evil iWeb color square of death using the Color Picker and the magnifying glass to select the onscreen color you want to match.
3) set your monitor back to the *normal* setting (Apple Cinema Display for example)
When you want to use that color, copy that square and paste it. It will carry the proper RGB around with it (or at least it is working for me right now...)
Now, if anyone else uses this approach with a color different than Navy blue, please indicate and also indicate of the grey dog ear was on your problem color when this all started.

  • How to get right color output whit export.

    Hello,
Does anyone know how to get the same color/gamma output with export as in the original footage ?
I noticed that when exporting a clip in h.264 or mp4 or quicktime h.264 or mp4, the colors get messed up, or the gamma I don't know really. You can try it yourself.
Here's a link to a testscreen image in png format:
    http://joeljohnson.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/bbc-hd-test-card.png
I use the standard "digital color measurement tool" app, provided with mac OS X to check what happens with the colors.
The white, grey and black boxes in the left of the picture should be, Black 0%, Grey 20%, grey 40%, Grey 60%, Grey 80% and whie(100%). The red colorblocks inthe picture contain about 2,7% blue and 85% red.
Whenever I import this file in Imovie, the grey scale colors are already a bit changed. About 2% or 4%.
But what bothers me most is that the red blocks contain about 7% blue, 3 times as much as it supposed to contain.
On export the color difference maintain when viewed in quicktime. When viewed in VLC, the grey boxes are displayed as meant to be, 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%. So this is probably the well known and discussed gamma shift. BUT the red boxes contain about 7% blue, even when viewed in VLC, why!!!! I can't live with that, I have a red car, but when viewed on video on my computer...it has a blue cast, it's not red, it gets slightly purple. Does anyone know how to solve this problem, and by the way, the other colors in the testscreen image are also shifted on import and export. It keeps me awake at night...Help me please.

  • Will saving an eps file as a pdf change color output?  Digital printing.

Hello, I recently sent in a reprint order of a client's package label file, and the color output is quite different.   The first times I ordered these labels, I sent in an eps file.  At the printer's request, I submitted the file as a pdf this time.  I can't see any differences bewteen the eps and pdf  files.   They're both RGB, the color values are sttill the same in the file.   Should the file type change result in such a different output?  Thanks for any advice...

Switching from a RGB color mode to CMYK gives the same colors on Screen? Since the CMYK is a subset of the colors available in RGB this is not usually the case.

  • Finder has colors all messed up.

My problem is that when I log into the administrator account on my Aluminum iMac, all of the colors are messed up, and the screens looks like it was drawn from a comic book. This only affects the administrator account, when I log into the other accounts, the problem is non-existent. I recently installed the Facebook iPhoto exporter, would this be the problem, although I uninstalled and restarted.
    Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I tried to screen grab the desktop, but when I open the file on another user account, it appears normal.

Open the Universal Access system preference and see if the Display on the Seeing pane is set to White on Black. If it is, select Black on White and that should get your display back in order. Also make sure that the Enhance Contrast slider is set to "normal".
    Hope this helps.

  • Incorrect Color Output when Printing

I've place a CMYK image from photoshop into indesign. It has a dark blue background and prints correctly out of photoshop. Indesign, however, prints the blue as a rich purple color. The color output is set to composite CMYK. When I change the output to composite RGB, the color changes to a lighter blue, but it's not exact as the original photoshop file. Everything appears fine on the monitor, but prints incorrectly. I'm running on a Mac Pro dual 3.0Ghz, 4Gb ram, and printing to a Konica Minolta C451. Any ideas?

That is a feature of RGB to cmyk conversion. There is a mathematical tendency for the conversion to be non-linear, it actually spirals towards the red in those colours.

My iPad screen has pink lines. The colors are messed up. I have tried resetting and turning it off. Any ideas?

    Did you drop the iPad?
    Did you do this Reset?
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. If the device screen looks inverted, try triple tapping your home button.  OR, you could tap settings, general, accessibility, and make sure invert colors is off.  Not sure what you mean about the screen being shaky, unless you tapped too long on the screen, and the icons are wiggling.  In which case tapping the home button will resolve that as well.

  • [SOLVED]How to get colorful output when pipe yaourt's STDIO to less?

    Hello, second post to NC.
My question is how to get a piped(e.g. pipe yaourt's STDOUT to less) program's colorful output on screen without such option like '--color=always'.
Before post this, I've configured less's default behaviour in "~/.zshrc" with following
    less() {
    env LESS=R less "$@"
    And When I run:
    $ dmesg --color=always | less
Everything works fine(I get good, colorful output), but when I run this:
$ yaourt -Qe --date | less
Seems that I can only get grey output on terminal emulator (without 'less' I get colorful output).
Does anyone has idea about getting yaourt's colorful output with 'less' ?

Thanks for reply and after serveral mintues googling & getting some help from IRC:
It seems that there're some utilities that do not provide such a option like 'color=always', what we need to do is trick these utilities into thinking their's STDIO is to a tty, not a pipe.
    1. stdoutisatty way (aur/stdoutisatty-git is needed) from [0]:
$ stdoutisatty yaourt -Qe --date | less
    2. socat way (extra/socat is needed, sometimes doesn't work fine) from [1]:
    $ socat EXEC:"yaourt -Qe --date",pty STDIO | less
    3. script way (sometimes doesn't work fine) from [2]:
$ script -fqc 'yaourt -Qe --date' | less
    4. unbuffer way (extra/expect is needed) from [3]:
$ unbuffer yaourt -Qe --date | less
    5. zpty way (extra/zsh is needed) slightly modified from [4]:
    zmodload zsh/zpty
    autoload colors && colors
    pty() {
    local VERSION=0.2
    if [[ -t 0 && $# -ne 0 && ${1} != '--help' ]];then

    ## when piping function pty to a pager, it may be a good idea to disable ^C *in this function*. assume that you're going to run this command: pty ls -alRi --color | less

  • Converting .tif files for match color output

How do you take a file from cmyk to a single match color output form and is there a way to do it for a duotone to insure that it seperates properly in pre-press?

I'm not certain I follow the question but here's my take on it.
For a single match color (I would assume you mean monotone):
    1) Convert the image to Grayscale
    2) Under Image select Duotone
    3) In the duotone panel select Monotone (that's usually the default) and select the color you want to use there
    For a duotone:
    1) Convert the image to Grayscale
    2) Under Image select Duotone
    3) In the duotone panel select Duotone and select the colors you want to use
As for making sure it separates properly:
It should separate exactly the way the levels/curves are adjusted in Photoshop.

  • Aperture to iWeb photo caption mess - must see to believe.

I am making an Album on my iWeb photo website, using Aperture. I requested to have the "Name" of each picture shown with each photo, below the photo. After publishing online, when I click the Slideshow, the "Name" of each picture does appear, but instead of a gray background beneath each "Name" (the way it looks in iWeb before publishing) the "Name" now appears in a weird repetition of the photo itself. I cannot describe this mess. You must see it to believe it.
    Please look at my website:
    http://www.bobfolsom.net
Click on Albums, then click on the "Skies" album (the only one right now) and then try a Slideshow. Can anyone tell me how to retrieve the nice gray background for the number captions instead of the colored repetition of the photo?
    Maria

Unfortunately you can't have the nice textured background for your slideshow. You can however get rid of the reflection and change the color of the background to a similar gray color. On the inspector, click on the Photos tab and then select the Slideshow sub-tab. There you can disable the reflections (which drive me nuts on artistic photos) and change the background among a few other things.
    Good luck!

  • Color Space Management & Final Color Output-not WYSIWYG?

I have constantly had problems with getting final output color to match what i am seeing on my monitors when color correcting. This has been a continual problem mainly with R3d footage and going to Prores...but for the sake of this discussion here is my prime example:
Start a new project in PrPro and clor from PrPro adding effects, 3 way color, 3rd party effects like Finesse and Colorista...then output the project to Tiff for master then convert from Tiff sequence to Prorest; H264 or anything else....But, when i output a prores file, and then open the prores file on its own--not brining it back into Premier...i notice a shift in colors....completely desaturated etc...this happens whehter i choose for gamma as "auto" or "none" when choosing codec settings for prores. I've had this continual problem for many years and the ONLY way i have found it to work is by using Apple's Color and then going to Prores....seems apple hardware and software work well together...but this cannot be an isolated incident with me only...AND coloring a project on your desktop and putting all that work into it and seeing it DIFFERENT at the end of the day is more than a let down...
...so maybe a discussion on properly setting a project for color work is in order...I came across another forum members website reToolednet and he had some great info on setting up the sequence timeline and video preview area that is great info...but even when i do that i cannot get a perfect match at the end of the output....Exapmples below all done in PrPro and then output to Prores 4444.
I've found info on Adobe site that does not seem current about setting project settings and color space, but no place in PrPro do i find that setting...is this only AE?  OR...can we even do a proper color job within PrPr?  or should that be done elsewhere?
Id like to go through the proper steps of setting workspace and color schemes for say a Prores output since that is likely 75% to 90% of everyone's deliverables in the tv realm....
Snapsot of Tiff sequence WITHIN PrPro (colored)
Final Output from PrPro to Prores--snap from actual QT prores file--(Desaturated)
When i began this project i had my sequence settings to R3d 1080p @ 29.97 and video previews to Iframe....
**NOW, i think i would have been better off to change video preview to my final output of Prores 4444...BUT, i tried that and still see a color shift.
**Note, i oriingally colored this on 5.5 with Matrox out to my color corrected monitors....and results on those monitors DO and WILL be diffrent than what you see on your computer screen....my monitors were set to rec709 and RGB at end of the line for viewing....but i see nothing within PrPro on how to set this....however at end of the day i do not get what i see on my preview monitors....

Thanks Jim....yes, i'm covered on all cc monitors and quite used ot viewing output on color calibrated...as well viewing both on the same platform/monitor....The BIG question is PrPr being able to do color work---and my question is why would it have all the color effects if it did not?  But i agree with you....first place to start is can you do proper color work on PrPr AT ALL?  no problem to do a quick web video...but can you properly color a for television product---I seem to think NO....i could not get colors in end to match....i can view out on PrPr view my I/O box (Matrox MXO2) and see great colors that i colored the project on to my FSI color corrected monitor....but then when i view the ProRes file back (not on PrPro)...but on it's own with its own codec engine...this is where things go awry and stray from colors i originally put on the images...
But this is a PARAMOUNT subject as Pr is offering coloring....i hate to bring this in, but in FCP i can get accurate colors on my Matrox and same when rendered out to Prores file....Again, i think Apple plays well with apple.....but as you say, there are a great number of varialbes involved in the preferences etc...within PrPr...seems to me AE may be better just by reading about it...but why not both?

  • Separate color output and blank pages

    Good morning community,
I have a little question for you today.
How can I output a separate color PDF with blank pages included?
Unfortunately, as I choose separation in the output menu, the chance to include blank pages (usually available in the general menu) disappears.
Instead, I need to generate a spot color PDF with all the pages, even the blank ones – in order to grant to the final printer the correct imposition.
    Thank you very much,
    Aulica

thank you rob day, great idea, with just one strategic move.
the reason why I need a separate pdf consists in "coedition", that is when I work with co-publishers and I work modifying only the plate of the text (in a specific language), that stays on a separate spot black. Therefore the co-publishers ask me to generate the relative spot black pdf.
Another solution is to put my text in a separate layer, but in this case I receveid layout files from a designer who didn't distinguish correctly art and text into different layers, so the work to separate them now, would be too long.
However It sounds me strange that It isn't possible to output with blank pages in separate colors...

  • Odd color output on roll-over images. (Not the normal problem)

Hi, I realize that iWeb has problems with color out puts: converting them from hex to rgb. However, I didn't think that this affected images. The problem is that my rollover images don't match the color they should. The buttons are a rounded corner so I need the background image there to make it a JPEG. Whenever I bring in the images through iWeb they match perfectly, even when published. These images, that are brought into the site via rollover code match within iWeb but not when published. Is this the same problem stated in many other posts? Thanks for any help!
    -iMaster

Sorry, no URL as this is just the homepage and I don't want to upload it yet, as it would not match the rest of the site (this is a redesign) but I can give you an image: http://twitpic.com/atpxm The one on the left was imported through iWeb and blends perfectly, whereas the image on the right is darker.

  • Colors All Messed Up, SERIOUS vid card/driver problem

ok, so i'm just surfing the net tonight in firefox, nothing unusual, no other programs on except coreduotemp, which is reading at a steady 65-70 and all of a sudden, the colors on the screen went haywire. i could see the shapes, move the cursor around and read lettering, but the colors looked like 1 bit colors, like 10 total colors with no gradations and very very washed out!
what the heck could be going on with my machine?
so i tried to restart... same thing. everything would look normal until one second after mac os booted up, it'd revert to the weird willy wonka coloring. so i tried a complete shutdown and waited 30 minutes to see if it was a heat issue. same thing.
then i tried booting to windows xp... it worked perfectly! the irony of it all.
booted back into mac os. willy wonka again. so i went to systems preferences and tried to change resolution. still messed up. so i changed colors from "millions of colors" to "thousands". still messed up. but when i changed it to "256 colors" it looked almost normal again. no more willy wonka colors but now looks terrible, like i'm working on an old commadore 64.
so i'm just going to take it back in tomorrow to the apple store and demand a new computer. i'm just curious to see if anyone else have had this issue or what the heck could be going on.
    MacBook 1.83GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

well, i just changed the RAM back to the stock 2x256 sticks. still the same problem.
i've been trying to figure out if macs have an "update video driver" function like windows does. i even went to intel's site to see if i could download a new driver for macs, but no luck. (this is my first mac so i'm not familiar with how mac vid cards update their drivers).
also did a system update, didn't change anything.
ack, i'm so used to fixing my computer problems myself, this is really frustrating about mac so far...
