IWeb '09 links jacked up....

Trying to create a website/resume. When others or myself, follow the links across the top in a sequential order, the links don't work.
<Home> <The Man> <The Musician> <The Minister> <Media> <Music>
When I click from Musician to Minister...links are dead. I have to go back to Home and then to minister for it to work.
Newby to iWeb. Any suggestions would be most grateful.

Thanks,
Dominic

it actually wasn't the www.dominicmenard.com image, it was a larger image below the nav bar that covered it. my wife actually found it...but thanks for your help in helping me realize it was being covered up.
Kindest Regards,
Dominic

  • Breaking iWeb's Link to MobileMe

    Hello,
    As I have mentioned in the past in Discussions, I have a website that I have created in iWeb '08.  I publish this website to a folder, then upload using Cyberduck.  When I upgraded to Lion, I had some trouble choosing domains, but I have since solved that problem.
    With this latest Lion update and my move to iCloud, I have a different problem:  Every time I choose my website in iWeb, I get this popup (which I get sometimes when I go to websites that I have entered into my keychain):
    "iWeb wants to use your confidential information stored in "myusername" in your keychain.  Do you want to allow access to this item?"
    I then have the option of clicking, "Always allow," "Allow," "Don't Allow."  I have tried clicking "Always Allow," but it still pops up multiple times.  I just keep clicking "Allow" over and over again, and eventually my iWeb site will load.  I notice at the bottom of my iWeb screen, it shows that I am signed in to MobileMe, but I am wondering if there is a way I can open iWeb without having to sign in to MobileMe.  I have tried clicking "Deny," but it just closes iWeb.  I am nervous as to what is going to happen to my iWeb page in June/July, when MobileMe will not be functional anymore.  Will I still be able to use iWeb '08 and publish my site to the folder?  How can I break iWeb's link to MobileMe, so it stops trying to sign me on?
    Thanks in advance for your help and thoughts!

    I haven't used MobileMe for a while but I recently had to login to another person's iDisk and was getting this popup. Having said that I didn't experience iWeb closing when I clicked "Deny" in the popup.
    After reading your post I opened Keychain Access.app (in the Utilities folder) and deleted the entry for that connection. No more popup.
    Launch Keychain Access and, in the left column, selct "login" under Keychains and "...Passwords" under Category. Look for an entry with the MobileMe icon next to it and delete it.

  • IWeb loses linked files

    I used to be able to use the desktop to get a file for iWeb to link to and then, once the page is published, delete the file off the desktop. When I restart iWeb now It states the file Is missing. Is iWeb no longer storing files in its domain file?

    The way I do it know is to manually upload the file to the server and link to it via "Link to external Page".  That way iWeb does not have to upload the file when you publish or republish.  I found it cleaned up some publishing issues if I didn't let iWeb do the uploading of audio, pdf and movie files.
    I like that idea but like the simplicity of the normal upload better. The whole point is make creating and updating web pages easy.
    The problem seems to have solved itself. I am not longer getting the error. I wonder if it was because I was running iWeb for the first time since the Lion update. Now I can add files via the desktop, publish and delete them from the desktop and iWeb still has them in the domain file.

  • IWeb 09 links not working in IE8

    Hi,
    Can anyone please help me with this as its really doing my head in now! lol!
    I have just built a 6 page website using iweb 09, all the links to external sites work great, and all the links to the other pages on my site also work great, on all platforms such as iPhone, iPod, Safari etc, but when i test it using IE 8 (using the develop menu in Safari) all my links work apart from all the links to my other pages. This only happens on only 2 of the 6 pages so i cant see whats wrong as the links have all been built the same way and work on Firefox and Safari etc.
    thanks for your help!
    Jay

    Hi Koeklin
    its only on my test site right now as its still in development, but the address is www.d2d.jaycreative.co.uk
    i've found that all the links work in IE8 apart from the pages "about MND" and if you click the "click to enlarge" the page that pops up has issues with the links, but only the links to other pages on the site, the external links work perfect!
    thanks!

  • Iweb page links not working??

    HELP!! I am very new to MAC and even newer to IWEB.
    I have tried making a website, and part way through decided to delete the welcome page and add a new welcome page. Now for some reason the page links are not working on the welcome page??
    Please help

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you referring to the links in the navbar? Try using the File->Publish All to MobileMe menu option. Also make sure there are no items that are overlapping the navbar area.

  • Iweb navigation links not working

    Hi there i was wondering if someone could help. I have done my website in iWeb 3.04 (601) The navigation links on my website are not working. I have tried turning the navigation menu on and off, it worked temporarily and then stopped. The website is www.cut2fitness.com Id really appreciate if anyone knows what I can do?
    MAny thanks!

    Your navigation is covered by this image which has a lot of wasted space around it...
    You need to crop it down to size. The image is 810 x 862 but the area with the text is only about 350 x 400.

  • IWeb hypertext links to pages from my site not "viewable" in some browsers

    I am new to iWeb 08. iWeb created hypertext links to eleven pages from my "top level" site are not "clickable" or viewable in some browsers yet the hyperlinks I added on top page to other sites don't present a problem.
    No problem with Safari or AOL Desktop Version 1.2 or Firefox browsers. However, AOL Ver 10.3.7 (rev 4136.310) only shows other site links and NOT the page links at the top of site page. Only a dot is visible where links to other pages in the site. I thought it could have been a Java Scripts problem so I updated my AOL to latest JAVA. Not concerned for my part but others with Mac AOL may have same problem.
    Is there something I could do diferent at my site or is this another AOL shortcoming?
    See: http://web.mac.com/louiedea/OceanaMed_Cruise_2008/MedCruise08.html
    Thanks, LouieDeA

    Gayle,
    No solution yet. I am sure it is a shortcoming of AOL's Mac browser but am trying to contact AOL support (difficult now that they are free). I don't use their browser but there are probably those that do. I presume you don't have that problem when you use Safari, etc?

  • My iWeb webpage links are only visible on Mac OS

    So I made a pretty elaborate webpage using iWeb 09.
    I had images in the background with text over the top.
    The text I chose was not friendly across the spectrum so I learned that I could turn them into picture files by adjusting the shadow.
    Now I have absolutely no "real" text--All has been converted to picture files.
    Then I purchased Motion 5.  My little brain exploded when I schemed up the idea of exporting Motion projects as h.264 files and replacing the static images in iWeb with these awesome moving and repeating 5 second snipits.  Once importing them I just right-clicked and selected "send to back".  Then I could have all links and other stuff sitting on top of these moving quicktime movies.
    I put a h.264 file (sometimes multiple ones) on EVERY single page; there are over 30 or so.  Every time I went and checked online using Safari everything worked flawlessly.  I was super stoked.  Minor issues when using Firefox or Chrome but whatever.
    Then, finally, I went and checked this page on a PC for the first time since putting h.264 Quicktime files as the background on EVERY single one of my iWeb pages.
    The only thing you can see using ANY browser is the quicktime movie.  All text/links are buried under the quicktime file (i assume) and therefore you cannot navigate anywhere.
    I'm pretty sure there is no way around this but I thought I'd ask anyway.
    I think I have manipulated iWeb with these quicktime files in a way that it shouldn't have been done.  I just figured out it was a cool way to put motion in the background. I kinda feel like I'm just screwed when trying to get this page that I have spent SOOOOOO many hours tweaking up on a machine running windows.
    Any help?

    You could have discovered solutions in this topic :
    How to use a link in front of a QT movie?
    In addition to these solutions, here's another one I just made :
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Aptana/HTMLEgg.html
    This is the page with the movie :
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/html5/HTMLEggLinkQTL.html
    When you display the movie in iWeb in a HTML Snippet, the link shows. But when it is displayed in Safari, the link is not visible. Only the text track area. But you can still click it. It displays correctly in all other browsers, even in MSIE 8 and Win XP.
    Perhaps I overlooked something when I created it or it is a Safari issue.
    I use QT Pro and TextEdit.
    The information how to do it, is freely available on the interwebs. I knew how to do it in the past, but to refresh my memory, I searched for it again. And it's still there.
    BTW, Applications do not make webpages, users do.
    And here's the link to the movie :
    HTMLEggqtl.mov
    Open it in QT Pro to see how it's done.

  • Blog -- use iWeb or link to outside site?

    Have my webpage going (still working on it) -- want to add a blog but have heard that the iWeb blog can 'bog down' the speed of the page?
    is it best to use outside (ie: Wordpress, Blogger)-- if so, which one works best? (want to post pictures, occasional videos, music of mine, etc)
    any tips for streamlining this process with least amount of gliches?

    Liz ~ Yes, and you can lose blog entries and comments.

    Take a look at this: http://posterous.com/faq

    As an alternative to setting up a basic hyperlink to your external blog, you can link to it from iWeb's navigation bar:
    Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
    ...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

    Better to include the prefix so it's conveniently clickable:

  • Slideshow trouble with Iweb photo links

    When I click on the start slideshow link I get an "I'm sorry" page-not sure what the problem is.
    www.cvmri.com under the acute and chronic MI heading.

    Tony
    I have just loaded it, the first time it didn't do anything, maybe I was a little impatient, the second time I clicked it the slideshow loaded.
    Try clearing your cache in Safari, go to Safari > Empty Cache.. then reload the page and try again.
    You could also put a ? at the end of the url in the address bar and then refresh the page.
    Sometimes you need to do both!

  • Internal iWeb page Links Inactive?

    I just spent hours upon hours working on my new iWeb website. Now that I have published all of my changes none of the internal links on the top navigation are working. I have no idea why. I have spent an additional hour looking for a way to fix this problem and I cannot find one. Any ideas? If your not sure what I mean go to http://www.jacobhursh.com and you will see. For instance when you arrive at the Homepage you cannot navigate to the about me or portfolio page. Any response will be greatly appreciated thanks...

    You are my websavior, lol. I was up late last night working on this and grew very frustrated with it. I sent that to the back but it didnt work until I moved it down as you mentioned. Thanks for the compliment about the resume too...
    have a good day.

  • IWeb 09 links not working correctly using IE8

    Hello all, I built a website within using iweb 09 and hosted it on Godaddy. The problem that i have has to do with my hyper links directing me to the Home page. this seems to only happen when I use IE8. If I use Safari all of the hyperlinks seem to work correctly. I have provided a link to the website below. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You're referring to the Home links at the bottom of each page? Are you using the Inspector/Hyperlink Link to on of my pages option in iWeb? If so try using Link to an External Page and enter the full URL to the Home page. That.s often more reliable.

  • Iweb email link

    I would like to set up an email me text link to an address other than a ,Mac. Is it possible to hide your email address from the sender?? Thanks.

    A other good bet is to get a form. Here are some good instructions.
    https://iWebfaq.com then click on the insert a form.
    Or a free way is http://web.mac.com/will.englefield/iWeb/WillG4PB/Forms.html

  • Iweb page link to site

    Can I set a page from iweb to go to a web site?

    You can create a link from your site to another site yes.
    Type your text and then highlight it and then open the Inspector and choose Hyperlink and then choose Hyperlink to an external page and you have created your link to a site outside iWeb.

  • Techie Question about iWeb, outbound links, and Google Analytics

    Hi,
    I have a kind of pretty technical question about using Google Analytics (GA) with iWeb sites to measure clicks on outbound links. Here's the setup:
    1) My website's online, and GA is working properly.
    2) I don't sell stuff directly, but I do have a "Purchase" page which contains a link to a specific Amazon page.
    3) I'm pretty sure I can measure how many people go to the Purchase page using GA, but how do I measure whether visitors click on the Amazon link? It would be interesting to me to be able to gauge what the conversion rate is; that is, how many people actually proceed to purchase the product at Amazon.
    I've checked the GA instructions and there's a page about manually tracking clicks on outbound links but it requires some code inputting. I know zero about coding, but I'm pretty sure that in iWeb you can't get access to the source code to input the required code.
    Am I wrong about this? And if I am, then does anyone here know how to measure the clickthrough rate?
    Anyway, hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

    I don't know about the link tracking but you could have the link take you to a redirect page which automatically sends them to Amazon.com after a preset time, 0 seconds to whatever you'd like. You can put a counter on that redirect page, like StatCounter. StatCounter can tell you how many, from where they came, i.e country and area, repeat visits, etc.
    Tutorials #12 & #13 describe how to put a visible counter on a page but with a redirect page you wouldn't have to bother since it wouldn't be seen. You can get all of your information from your account on the StatCounter site.
    The redirect page would be a simple plain text page titled redirect.html and would look like this:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="refresh"
    content="0; Destination URL">
    <title>Redirecting or whatever you'd like to appear at the top of the browser</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    0 Is the number of seconds to wait before redirecting the visitor. If set to zero the visitor would not know they were being redirected. Replace Destination URL with the Amazon URL you want them to go to.
