IWeb'09 - lost links

Just to add something, the files relating to my Mother's side work fine.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. On the Interest and Contact page it appears that there may be a background image file overlapping or on top of the navbar. When I do a Command+A (select all) on that page it looks different than it does on the first two pages. Make sure the navbar is brought to the top/front via the Arrange menu.
Are any of those other objects on the Interst page intended to be hyperlinks? If so they are not
working.
NOTE: all of the text on your resume page has been converted to an image. That makes it invisible to search engines. Also, at least for my "ancient" eyes, the text is way too small and trying to enlarge it with the browser just enlarges the image and the text goes fuzzy. User Web Safe Fonts for the text and do not use drop shadows so as to make sure it doesn't convert to an image file and it will be much more search engine friendly. Set iWeb's preferences to Show text imaging indicator so you can see which will be images when published.

  • How Can I Redirect a Webpage in iWeb to Another Link?

I have created a blog through godaddy.com for my website, and the webpage link is blog.XXXX.com.
I have a page on my site for a blog, but iWeb defaults to sending people to XXXX.com/blog.html.
Can someone please tell me how I can have iWeb redirect the link so that when people click on my "Blog" link it directs them to blog.XXXX.com?

  • Lost link to my Forum ID

    Hello,
How can I get help with a lost link to my old Forum ID (witkacy)? The link was lost probably because of a recent (relatively) Adobe ID reset or, possibly, even earlier. I still have all the old credenials (when there was no need for the email ans user name, but the email has not changed).
    Thank you
    m.

    Thank you, Pat.
No, unfortunately, I can't. My old credentials do not work anymore. Some time ago Adobe forums started requiring an email as an only form of a login into the forums. Back then I succesfully 'linked' my old forums ID to the Adobe ID (what is now an only option to get to the forums). But after a breach into Adobe's database and the password reset I've lost a link from my Adobe ID to that old forum ID of mine (witkacy). The only way was to establish a second forum ID (witkacy2). My question is - is there any way to regain the link to my old forum ID to my current Adobe ID.
    Thanks again

  • Lost link to event files after upgrade to OS Mavericks

I recently upgraded my iMac from OS 10.7 (Lion) to OS 10.9.1 (Mavericks).  I am using Premier Pro CC.  During the upgrade, the link to event files on incompleted projects was lost.  Can someone help me reestablish these lost links?
Any help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Clips represent your media, but they are not the media files themselves. The clips in a project simply point to (link to) the source media files on your hard disk. This link was lost when I upgraded and I hope there is someway to reestablish this link without starting the projects from scratch.
    Thanks

  • "Lost Link" err msg

I'm a PM "newbie" trying to access PM6 pubs in PM7 which apparently converts PM6 pubs for use in PM7. However "lost link" err msgs appear for several files. I answered "ignore all" and the conversion continued but nothing from the PM6 pub appears in the PM7 screen.
    (1) is this due to "lost link" err msg ?  If so, how do i correct ?
    (2) if not due to "lost link" msg what am i doing wrong ?
    Thanx.
    Bob

    Newbie? Seriously…stop right now.
Don’t even bother. PM is DEAD and not worth 5 minutes of your time to learn.
    Look into InDesign instead.
BTW, in pagelayout applications, graphics are linked to their source files, not embedded. That means if you have a photo you need the actual file.

  • Lost links

We bought a newspaper and changed the name of the hard drive, therefore losing all the links in pagemaker. How do we change the name of the hard drive back to the orginial name? I can't seem to get it to change.
Power Mac G3 Mac OS 9.2.x
Please feel free to email me at [email protected] with suggestions.
This has turned into a nightmare!

    Hi, Mary -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
The name of a drive can be changed the same way you would change the name of a document or folder - click on the name under the icon and wait for it to highlight - you can then edit it as needed. If you twitch the cursor a little bit just after clicking on the name, it should highlight immediately.
Another way - click on the icon, then press Enter - the name should highlight immediately.
Note - as long as File Sharing is active for that drive, the name can not be changed. If that is the case, either disable File Sharing or unshare that drive. Once the name has been fixed you can redo File Sharing.
The reason that File Sharing prevents a name change for a volume is to avoid lost links and dropped connections for other machines.

  • Lost Links to MobileMe Gallery on iWeb after updating to Snow Leopard

I recently updated my OS to Snow Leopard. I appear to have lost all of my past iWeb links to my MobileMe Galleries. It is so frustrating. This is a lot of work from the past. All of the pictures still appear on Mobile Me Gallery but the iWeb site does not recognize them. The place where the pictures used to be now has a white box with text "Upload album or movie to MobileMe and then select it from this widget's menu." Why! When I try to use the MobileMe Gallery widget like I did in the past, it sees none of my galleries! Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Thanks.
Here is what the page looks like now. You can see where the galleries used to be. --> http://web.mac.com/georgeparsons/TatnallRunPics/Home.html

Hi I just made one of my few visits to these forums because I had a problem kinda similar to yours. It was sending me nuts. Main indication of the problem was that when I went to add an album widgit it didn't show any of the albums I have in iphoto and no other fiddling back and forth republishing and the like fixed it. This was after working properly earlier in the day. I have just started to build a new website with iweb.
I then updated to the latest version of iweb, that is 3.0.1, and yes you guessed it, now its working fine. So just in case i thought i would mention what worked for me tho i see others with different fixes to the same problem. So this worked on my 2.4 MBP running 10.5.6 and iweb 3.0.1.
    Good luck

  • Lost Link to MobileMe Pages in iWeb

I set up a second website with a new user on my computer. This is a mobile me website. I created the page the other day, logged out. When I signed back in, the page I created was no longer in iWeb. It still has me logged in to my other Mobile me account, and the page shows up on the iDisk. But it does not show up in iWeb.
How do I get iWeb to see that page again?

The web site files that iWeb uses are located in the domain.sites2 file/package. It's default location is located in the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Go there and double click on that file to open it. If the other site is not in there there may be another domain file somewhere on your hard drive. Download Find File and search for ".sites2". (Find File will search in areas that Spotlight cannot-a much more complete search).
If you don't find a second domain file and don't have a backup of the one in the default location you'll have to rebuild the site from scratch. Chapter 2.3 of this iWeb FAQ site has tips on using some of the published files in the reconstruction of the site.

  • Lost link from iWeb to files

I was using Multisite for iWeb but ended up not needing it. Now that my demo has expired iWeb 08 can't find any files or folders for my website, even though I found them all on iDisk. I copied them to my desktop but since there is not a "domain" file in there, I can't open iWeb using any of those files.
Can I restore all of my work? I looked within iWeb and there wasn't any import funtion.
    Steve

I don't use mulit-site, but I suspect it moved you domain file to other than the default location.
Use spotlight to search for "domain"
If it does not show up make sure spotlight is looking at system file also.
If you find it you can locate it where ever you like and double click it to load Iweb.
The default location is your user library/application support/iweb.
You can not import the published file back into iweb.
The following is from the multi-site tech info:
While you don’t need to understand how data is stored to use Multisite for iWeb it can be helpful occasionally to understand what is going on behind the scenes. At a nuts and bolts level Multisite for iWeb stores all of its sites in your home folder’s Documents folder in a single package (which is really a fancy folder dressed up to look like a file) called “Multisite for iWeb Data.mfi.”
Inside the package there is a folder called “sites” and within that is a folder with the name of each site you have managed. In each of those folders is a single “Domain.sites” file that iWeb uses when it’s editing that site. Often a picture is easier to understand. This snapshot is a look inside of a package that holds four separate sites.
Sounds like you need to locate the "package", right click or a control click it and "show package contents". From there you should be able to find your domain file..
    good luck

  • Page has lost links once published

    Hello,
    have created a site.
have published the site to me.com (and my personal server too)
links between pages got lost on both servers
Any idea what I do wrong? (Have done "published all" already - no change)
I am suspicious whether iWeb is "foreign language accents sensitive". I mean does not work with anything else than English. Is it?
    Thanks
    Martin

It is really extremely easy to set up either CNAME or ordinary web forwarding in iWeb/MMe.
    1. Firstly, Publish All to MobileMe from within iWeb and your site will be published.
    2. To set up CNAME, log into your MME account and then click on the personal section and then domain names. Then enter your domain name into your MMe account.
    3. Go to your domain name registrar/hosting company and access the control panel and find the DNS settings section. You need to enter something similar to www, CNAME and then forward your domain name to web.me.com. With some you need to set to forward the @, CNAME and then web.me.com.
    4. If you don't want to use CNAME then use ordinary web forwarding instead. Go to the web forwarding section and ensure that your domain is forwarded to web.me.com/username/sitename. You can have masked or unmasked forwarding too. Masked is better though.
All simple to follow - nothing complicated there.
If you want to upload directly, then try using Cyberduck as Tom suggested. Publish to a Folder from iWeb and this will go to the Site folder on your hard drive. Open Cyberduck and upload both the site folder with the same name as you gave your site in iWeb and the separate index.html file and place all in the Public_html folder and your site will be visible.

  • Lost link between iPhoto library and iPhoto.app

While learning how to use Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Bridge, I made the choice to "browse" in Bridge. When I next started iPhoto 6.06, my link to the Library was lost. I have worked with AppleCare support, done every exercise short of creating a new library and losing my organization. With 20,000 + photos I would like to avoid that exercise. I do have backups but am trying to figure out if I can solve this any other way. All my files are still in iPhoto Library, and I can see the organization of my albums in Bridge. With some exercises, I get the message: "Unreadable files: 1. The following file could not be imported: '/Users/john/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Library.iPhoto.'"
If I delete Adobe Photoshop Elements and Bridge from the hard drive, will this help? I promise I did not do anything within iPhoto Library in Finder!
    Thanks so much!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
There's absolutely no harm in using PSE with iPhoto, it's Bridge that's a killer. So that's what you chuck from your machine. Set up PSE as an external editor in the iPhoto Preferences. That way you can double click a pic in iPhoto and it will open automatically in PSE, save it PSE and have it come back into iPhoto seamlessly.
What's likely happened here is that you have (or Bridge has) made changes in the iPhoto Library Folder which has broken the link between iPhoto and the library files.
    Some things to try:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. Choose Locate, and point iPhoto at the iPhoto Library Folder.
What Back Ups do you have? If there's an up-to-date one, then try copying the library6.iphoto file from it to the iPhoto Library Folder allowing it to overwrite the confused one.
That said, if these don't work, your options will only be to create and populate a new library: To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Finally, the message
"Unreadable files: 1. The following file could not be imported: '/Users/john/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Library.iPhoto.'"
is because iPhoto will not import a picture that's in the active iPhoto Library Folder - a sensible precaution against duplication.

  • Can you retrieve a lost link to online form?

One of the respondents to my online form has lost their email with a link to their saved form. Is their any way for them or I to retrieve the link?

Does the respondent still have the window with the retrieved form? If the retrieved form is still on the browser window, he can save the form again. Right after that, he will see a message at the bottom right corner of the form saying "Progress saved successfully. Re-send email with link". By clicking Re-send email with link, he will be able to have the link email sent again.
If he doesn't have the retrieved form on a browser window, unfortunately, there is no way for us to identify which data belongs to him, since all form data are saved anonymously. The data link contains a randomly generated key and it serves as a receipt for the respondent's data. Without the link, we have no way to locate the data.

  • IWeb Page Navigational Links not working with Internet Explorer 7

I'm hoping someone can help me out here? My wife created her 1st website using iWeb. I am testing the sites functionality before we publish it. All the pages and links work fine on Firefox and Safari for windows. However, the page navigational links are not working on Internet Explorer 7. All I see is a dot to the left side of where the page links should be. When I start the site in IE7 I get an Active X script warning and I am asked if I want to allow the script to run; to which I reply yes. After I allow the Active X script the dot to the left side of where the page links should be disappears, but the links do not appear.
Is there anyway to resolve this? Most of the members of her club have Windows based PCs and are using IE7.
    Message was edited by: cviz821

Yes, Javascript is running on IE7 and other java script applets appear to be working with the exception of the Navbar script.
It would be great if my wife's friends used a "real" browser, unfortunately 70% of the people on the web use IE7, so this is a real concern if we can't get this to work. I'v seen other iWeb site on IE7 that seem to function fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is here.
