IWeb '09 "redirects" my homepage to another "named page"

because it redirects to another named page instead of www.mydomain.org/
it redirects to....
http://www.thechurchofgodalaska.org/TheChurch_of_God_inAlaska/HomePage.html
this causes ALL the search engines to NOT find it anywhere! It was coming up on the FIRST page of Google when I was using iWeb '08. Now that I have updated to iWeb '09 none of the search engines can find my page at all.
Can you help?

Firstly, where are you publishing your site to? MobileMe or an External server?
If MobileMe, then how are you re-directing your domain name to your site? Are you using CNAME forwarding or ordinary masked web forwarding?
iWeb 08 was the same as 09 in this way.
What you need to do is go back to your domain name registrar and check your domain forwarding settings there to see where it is pointing to. For CNAME it should be just web.me.com and if using web forwarding, then it should be pointing to web.me.com/username/sitename.
It looks to me as if you have used CNAME forwarding? If this is so, then go and check that your domain is forwarded just to web.me.com and nothing else.
The forwarding however will always be forwarded to www.domain.org/sitename/pagename, you can't get away from this and if you want anything different then change to masked web forwarding instead - if you do this, then your url will just be www.domain.org for every single page of your site.

  • Redirecting old Homepage to iWeb

    For many years I've had an online library of images made with Homepage. I have now completely remade the site using iWeb and deleted the Homepage. Google however still has a cache of the old pages and Apple returns a 'Page not Found' message if the link is followed.
    So- can I put a page on my iDisk called homepage.mac.com/username/CATCH-ALL to redirect any of those links to my new iWeb site? There were hundreds of photoalbum pages by the way.
    old site- homepage.mac.com/cjbphotography
    new site- web.mac.com/cjbphotography
    G4 Dual, 17" Powerbook, iMac, iPod, and more   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    the index.html file is basically i a file that can be used to redirect people.
    dan,
    you can download the file - but you will need to edit the file because i have made it specifically for him above. open the index.html file up with textedit. be sure you have the preferences set to "ignore html commands." otherwise you will see a blank file.
    then search for: http://web.mac.com/cjbphotography
    and replace it with your site: http://web.mac.com/username
    and yes, you would have to overwrite the existing file to make the old site be redirected to the new one!

  • Can't download any Adobe plug-in updates - get redirected to another Adobe page over and over.

    FF Add-ons Manager tells me that 1) Shockwave Flash (11.9 r900), 2) Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape (12.0.4.144) and 3) Adobe Acrobat (10.1.9), and are all vulnerable and that the last two are outdated.
    When I click update on any of them, the appropriate download page comes up in a tab.
    But when I click on download, nothing is downloaded and I'm directed to another Adobe page (the main home page I believe): http://www.adobe.com/
    This page has a list of downloadable links at the bottom. When I go to them I'm taken (again) to the download page for that add-on, but (again) when I click download, I'm redirected back to the Adobe home page.
    I've tried this about 15 times over 6 weeks. My feelng is that malware has compromised my FF and is blocking the update. I'm running AVG free and Windows Vista firewall.
    My computer is running Windows Vista on an AMD powered desktop and Firefox 26.0. I've included (I think) the trouble-shooting info.

    For Windows Vista, Adobe is not supporting the current Adobe Reader 11 / Adobe Acrobat 11 series, so what you have is the latest for your system. Mozilla's plugin check site currently does not recognize 10.1.9 as current, so you'll have to trust Adobe to keep you up-to-date and disregard the plugin site on this one.

  • IWeb site redirects to MM mailbox or log-in

    I created a site with iWeb, but when I try to visit it, I get redirected to the MM log-in page or, worse, to my open mailbox. I can visit it fine on other computers. This happens with both Safari and Firefox. I've cleared the caches, history, etc. and it still happens. The tech people think this might be a DNS issue but no one has been able to tell me how to fix it. Help!

    Please provide your url and your MobileMe username so we can see for ourselves what is happening. Without that it is really impossible to help.

  • IWeb Can soundfiles be played by another player than Quicktime?

    iWeb Can soundfiles be played by another player than Quicktime? Some Windows users are not allowed to install Quicktime for Windows (e.i. a workcomputer with limitations) and they cannot play the soundexamples on my webpage! Is it possible to change the player in iWeb?

    Its not something that iWeb does. You need to upload the player assets (song files and any other required scripts) to the server and use some code in an HTML Snippet.
    Computers running older versions of Windows usually have flash installed and you can use a player like this...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Music-Players/Wordpress-Flash-Player.htm l
    Flash players are not so good a choice nowadays since they won't work on mobile devices like iPhone/iPad.
    All modern browsers support HTML5 audio including Internet Explorer V 9....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Music-Players/HTML5-Audio.html
    To ensure playback in older browsers its necessary to add flash fallback...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Music-Players/HTML5-Audio-In-A-Box.html
    If you want to put more than one or two audio tracks on a web page its better to use a playlist style player. Again, flash used to be the way to go...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Music-Players/Flash-Audio-Jukebox.html
    Modern playlist players with flash fallback are not so easy and most of them use jQuery. Some examples...

  • Moving iWeb data from one computer to another

    I have an iWeb site on my old mac lap top. I can not get the data to transfer to the new laptop. How do I move all iweb entries from one computer to another?

    I would say that if you created pages in iWeb, your ability to do this originated from a basic Domain file, and it is there, in your computer, somewhere. I have seen cases where it appeared as though work that was published to a folder and not 'saved' in the application didn't make it into the Domain file, but I haven't been able to replicate this situation.
    Spotlight "Domain", and see what comes up. Also, make sure you are looking in your Home Folder location, not your main HD library.

  • Transfer iweb files from one computer to another

    Does anyone know how to transfer iweb files from one computer to another?

    Change the name of the file to Domain-2.sites2 and try to copy it to the Desktop on the new Mac.
    To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
    do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
    You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
    Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
    WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
    NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
    For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Optionsmenu to bring the this window:

  • How can redirect the errorPage to another frame?

    Please advise, I have been sticking to this problem for a whole day and still can't solve it. :-(
    What I basically want to do is to redirect the errorPage to another frame, say, the main frame.
    My application has 2 frames, the main frame is a search page, the left frame is a tree which is written by JavaScript and it is a hidden frame. The form code of the search page in the main frame is like that:
    <form name="form1" method="post" action="FindAgent.jsp" target="leftFrame">
    when the submit button is clicked, it will invoke the FindAgent.jsp which will update the tree and also has codes to catch any exception if there is. The problem is that when exceptions occur, the errorPage will be shown in the leftFrame which is hidden frame so it doesn't show anything. So how can I make the errorPage displayed in the _TOP window?
    I would not mind to have the errorPage displayed in the mainFrame by changing the target to "_SELF" or doesn't specify the target attribute at all in the search page. But anyother problem arose by doing that is that the search page will go away and try to display the FindAgent.jsp which doesn't have any appearance code after submitting. So how can I keep the current search page still but the submit() has been called actually, i.e. submit the form without redirecting the current search page.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    Here's an idea. Have your error page (in the hidden frame), look something like this:
    <%
      String strErrorMessage = ... // get your error message text here
    %>
    <html>
    <head>
      <script language="JavaScript">
        parent.mainframe.location = "ErrorPage.jsp";
      </script>
    </head>
    </html>So the error page loads in the hidden frame, which then extracts the error information from the exception object. Then, using javascript, the hidden frame tells the main frame (using window references) to reload to the desired page. The only issue is how to get the error message text to the new page since your exception object is lost. You can store it as a session variable, and then pass the id of the message in the url to the new page, or you could just pass the text in the url itself.
    I hope that gives you some ideas!

  • Link to specific text from another web page

    Hello all
    Is is possible to link from one page to a specific piece of
    text in another web page in the same site? I have tried named
    anchor, hyperlink, etc but it just goes to the page rather than the
    text. I don't know if I am attempting the impossible. Can you help?
    Thank v much.

    > This also has a css rule so this 9pt thing is left over
    from copy and
    > pasting
    > from Word. I have it cleaned up as you suggested but I
    still have:
    > <span style="font-family:Arial; font-size:9.0pt; is
    there way of avoiding
    > this?
    It depends on your settings for how you copy/paste. See your
    PREFERENCES
    for those. I don't get such things because my settings are
    'tight' in that
    they are restrictive to what stying is carried into the page.
    > How I do this in a nav bar?
    Change this -
    .nav {
    font: bold normal 14px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    text-transform: none;
    color: #003300;
    font-weight: bold;
    a.nav:link {
    font: normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    text-transform: none;
    color: #003300;
    text-decoration: none;
    a.nav:visited {
    font: normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    text-transform: none;
    color: #003300;
    text-decoration: none;
    to this -
    .nav {
    text-align:center;
    .nav a {
    font: bold normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    color: #030;
    font-weight: bold;
    text-decoration:none;
    margin-right:35px;
    and then change this -
    <div align="center"><a href="index.html"
    class="nav">Home</a>       <span
    class="nav">About
    Us</span>      <a
    href="impact_HE.html" class="nav">Impact of HE
    Proposal</a>      <a
    href="purpose_ED.html"
    class="nav">The Purpose of
    ED</a>      <a
    href="procedures.html"
    class="nav">Procedures </a>     <a
    href="what_can_we_do.html" class="nav">What Can We
    Do?</a></div>
    to this -
    <div class="nav"><a
    href="index.html">Home</a><a
    href="about_us.html">About
    Us</a><a href="impact_HE.html">Impact of HE
    Proposal</a><a
    href="purpose_ED.html">The Purpose of ED</a><a
    href="procedures.html">Procedures</a><a
    href="what_can_we_do.html">What Can
    We Do?</a></div>
    But an even better way would be to make the menu an unordered
    list, like
    this -
    <ul>
    <li><a
    href="index.html">Home</a></li>
    <li><a href="about_us.html">About
    Us</a></li>
    <li><a href="impact_HE.html">Impact of HE
    Proposal</a></li>
    <li><a href="purpose_ED.html">The Purpose of
    ED</a></li>
    <li><a
    href="procedures.html">Procedures</a></li>
    <li><a href="what_can_we_do.html">What Can We
    Do?</a></li>
    </ul>
    And use this CSS -
    .nav {
    text-align:center;
    .nav ul {
    list-style-type:none;
    margin:0;
    padding:0;
    overflow:hidden;
    .nav li {
    float:left;
    width:150px;
    margin-right:5px;
    border-right:1px solid green;
    .nav a {
    font: bold normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    color: #030;
    font-weight: bold;
    text-decoration:none;
    If you want to make the current page look like it doesn't
    have a link, then
    do this -
    <ul>
    <li><a href="index.html"
    id="home">Home</a></li>
    <li><a href="about_us.html" id="about">About
    Us</a></li>
    <li><a href="impact_HE.html" id="impact">Impact
