IWeb 09 update causing publish error

I recently upgraded to iWeb 09 and now it appears that I need to republish my entire site. As I have attempted to do this, I am getting several publish errors similar to this one:
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/vP/vPY5vsWUHtadxxlDMXDzVE+TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.iWeb32120_TEMP_267051339_7/sites/Kadesh/Summerfiles/Cement Background Web.jpg”. Try publishing again later.
I have tried replacing the file, but then a different error pops up next time. In the process the navigation bar from my site is not showing up properly as some changes have taken effect, but now my site is all screwed up.
Please help.

I'm having the same issues because of the recent upgrade to iWeb 09. I've tried all the tricks that are listed (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1678) and my guess is that I'm timing out.
I have several sub sites with less pages and pictures and have been able to publish them, just not my main site. Try publishing at night - less traffic. Make sure you have other applications closed, etc.
Good Luck!

  • I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error.

I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error. All was fine with my site until I added the photo album page. The software doesnt say what the error is exactly, only that it is a publishing error to my ftp
Exact message "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider."
If I reduce the albums inside to 1 then it seems to work but that takes away from the usefullness of multiple albums.
my iWeb version is 3.0.4 (601)

Publish your site to a folder on your hard drive to see if the publication will proceed successfully and open the site locally with your browser to confirm all of the alums are there and work.  If they do try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If you're still not able to publish from iWeb to your server download and use the free  Cyberduck to upload your website files to the server. Users have found that CD has been successful when iWeb had problems.

  • IWeb Update and publishing errors

I have just installed the latest iWeb update and now I have a chronic publishing error of which I can not seem to fix? The error message states:
*+An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites/Sites.rss”. Try publishing again later.+*
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have rebooted; reinstalled the updates; download "all to .Mac" and even "downloaded all to folder"...it is when I try publishing directly or via "all to .Mac" that I receive this frustrating error.

I too am having htis problem. The solution suggested can't be done for me as there is no 'Web' folder on my iDisk. Maybe this is because I set up my account a while ago, before iWeb was introduced. Maybe I need to get in touch with Apple to get them to create a Web folder for me. (I tried myself, but don't have privileges.

  • IWeb 1.1 Image Publishing Errors

When I try to publish my site, I encounter random publishing errors relating to images on my site.
Most of the time, they are images that I've never even heard of (and don't show up under a spotlight search either!). I'm assuming that they're images programed into the chosen template, but why would Apple put images into the templates that create errors? This would be the second time that I've uploaded my page to .mac with v1.1 and I had no problems the first time. All I changed was I added a few more blogs and some pictures.

    Thank you for contacting Apple.
Apple is investigating an issue that can cause some to receive one of the the following alerts when using iWeb 1.1 to publish to their .Mac website:
    - Unable to read your iDisk quota
    - An error occurred while publishing file "[filename]".
    - .Mac account credentials validation failed for account "[member name]"
We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we investigate. We will email you again once we have more information regarding this.
    Sincerely,
    The .Mac Support Team

  • IWeb 1.1.1 - Publish Error - Disk quota

Still getting the error "Error reading iDisk quota".
This program has yet to work for me. I have the most latest version of every piece of software on my computer, boatloads of iDisk space....why is this error still popping up? help!!!!!!!!!

Actually, here is what I did.
I removed a couple of folders from my iDisk and tried again, but no success.
I logged out and back in again, but no success.
I downloaded the iWeb 1.1.1 update and applied it, but no success.
I emptied the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and fired up iPhoto and told it to make a photo web page anew from the selected photos. When I got to the iWeb part of the process I remembered that I had previously named the site (in the inspector) using a date. I believe I used spaces in the name. This time I used a name without spaces and it worked fine. Uploaded and all is well.
So, my suggestion would be to empty out the iWeb folder and start anew/copy back in selected pieces. And if that doesn't work, try removing spaces from the site name.
Actually, come to think of it, I think it's the site name that causes the problems because trying to create a new site via www.mac.com tells you not to use spaces in the name. Though for some reason, this check is not performed by iWeb.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Acrobat 9.1.2 New Update Causes Print Error

    operating sys: Win XP
    ver: Acrobat 9.1.2
I'm using a Master file on the printer and marrying my data file to that master.
Ever since I received the new update, any time I print a file over 35 pgs. from Adobe Acrobat it prints out about 30 pgs. correctly and on the next print it spits out the Master file but for the data it prints out the following error:
    "ERROR: undefined
    OFFENDING COMMAND: limitcheck
    STACK:

    -dictionary-"
I've tried printing to different printers and on different projects but as soon as throw that .pdf into an InDesign document and print from the InDesign program the project prints out correctly.
Any suggests as to how to fix this? OR Will this be fixed in the newest update?

Windows 7 64 Pro, Thunderbird 7.0 (updated recently) : the "publish form" is completely bugged.
Before reading solutions here : can't find mail program error messages (can't find my adress book in TB)
After applying the fix : set the by default programm forced on Thunderbird -> http://forums.adobe.com/message/3610561#3610561
Acrobat "resolves mail adress", then the submit button make a small dialog box appear (can't read anything in it). Nothing happens.
I can click and re-click several times, same "empty" or "not displaying a message long enough" dialog box keeps appearing. No forms sent whatsoever.
This is critical. I'm an ACI. I must set up a special training for one of our customers, about delivering forms. Ok, that issue is on my personnal computer, so far.
I may need to fix the install, or reinstall whatsoever, BUT : can I really come with that kind of answers in a classroom ?
"-Oh, and now publish the form, by clicking here..."
"-Oh, that doesn't work ? Hmmm, it's a known issue without any solution. Uninstall everything and reinstall everything, that should work (or not). Yeah, I know, it's Acrobat...
and no, sorry, I don't have time to uninstall an reinstall everything on all the computers in the classroom, sorry, it's the end of the day. Bye ! What ? You, students, think this
training was in fact useless ? Hm, you kinda of right...we spent a whole day setting forms, discussed how Acrobat is a cool software, and in the end our forms are good to be dropped to the trashcan."
May we have a answer from the Acrobat Team here ?

  • After recent Iweb 09 update, when publishing site Iweb hangs

    Hi,
After I did an Iweb update this week, I cannot publish my website anymore. The application hangs and has to be force quitted... I tried waiting for many minutes, without success. The Imac account is active and I can logon ok. I also updated my password yesterday via the web. This could be the reason as well. Still, the application should not hang.
    Please help.
    Kind regards,
    Remco

You don't state were you are publishing to - MobileMe or another server?
Have a look at the troubleshooting section on this page and the bit about deciding whether your problem is with publishing or if it exists in iWeb.

  • 10.6.5 Update Causing CUPS error logs.

    Hi,
After updating to OSX 10.6.5. my MacBook Pro has been generating CUPS error logs. I did a post in this forum and in the 10.6 Printer and faxing category. Here's the original post:
    Hi,
+I was checking the Logs section in System Profiler and the following log caught my attention. The log is related to CUPS which is (as I understand) the printer manager in OSX. The log looks like this on screen:+
+Note: I had to put parenthesis instead of brackets because the date would otherwise be crossed out. In other words ( )=[ ] in the report.+
    error_log:
    +Description: Printer Error Log+
    +Size: 681 bytes+
    +Location: /var/log/cups/error_log+
Recent Comments: *+W(19/Nov/2010:22:34:23-0500) No limit for Validate-Job defined in policy authenticated using Print-Job's policy.+*
+This same error repeats 4 more times and is the only error mentioned in the report. What I would like to know is what is this error about?, Is there a way to correct this?+
+An additional detail is that I haven't installed any printers on this computer since I reinstalled OSX in my machine a 2 weeks ago.+
+Thank you for any assistance in this matter.+
Now, I noticed by looking at the log report date, and the report was created in the same date I installed OSX 10.6.5. Today, I also received a reply to my post in the Print and Fax category of this forum and another user is also having the same issue. His log was also created when he installed the 10.6.5 OSX update, which points that this issue might be occurring in other Macs. What I would like to ask if you are reading this topic, is for you to go into your system profiler and click in the "logs" which is located in the "software" category in the system profiler sidebar. The log name you are looking for is "error_log".
Please post back indicating if this error log appears in your system profiler log section as well. Also check the date the log was created, in my case the log was created on November 19, 2010 which is the same date I installed the 10.6.5 update. If your log does not have entries before November 10, 2010, there's a chance that OSX 10.6.5 is the culprit.
By the way, is there a way to report a bug to Apple? Specifically, for OSX.
Thank You for your assistance and time.

    baltwo wrote:
Can't help with the CUPS issue, since it's not occurring here. If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.
I will register for the developer program tomorrow. Do you know someone who knows about CUPS?, it might be helpful to sort this problem out. Should I take the sledge hammer approach and do a clean reinstall for OSX? Also there's a chance that this problem might be related to Apple portables only, since the other user is having the same issue that I do in a MacBook Pro as well but his MacBook is the 17" inch one but still there might be one common denominator here.
I really hope this thread gets seen by more users in this forum, to see if more information surfaces about this problem.
Anyways, thank you for your assistance.

  • Updating cause unknown error cause restore

Everytime I update (from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 to 1.1.4) I get the "unknown error" error and is forced to restore my ipod. This is incredibly annoying and I am beginning to think that my ipod is broken. I have tried all the different remedies offered here and on other forums to no avail. I am seriously beginning to consider selling the ipod to buy a new one since no help is offered by apple and the problem continues to occur. Is there anyone who has any input or tip on fixing this?
    Message was edited by: Blofeld2001

When this happens or if anyone has this problem when updateting the IPT try these steps it should help.
    1. If you just installed new update for iTunes (7.6.1) you HAVE to restart your computer.
    2. Disconnect your IPT if already connected.
    3. Turn off your IPT normaly by holding the sleep/wake button
    4. Make sure iTunes is open and connect your IPT to iTunes (your IPT should turn on by the computer)
    5. It will look like your IPT is in recovery mode but it's not
    6. Then it should from there on install the new update!

Please put it in the bug report, as installing python2-bsddb didn't seem to fix the issue...

    EDIT:
In fact, the problem comes from gramps, which should import bsddb3, see GRAMPS wiki.

With Liveupdate5, I dl/d the file ms-7368 and installed it thru windows. Everything completed successfully and I rebooted.
"Disk read error" Press cntrl alt del. It will do this endlessly... unless I sits overnight. Boots up fine in the morning. But, if for any reason I need to reboot, I get caught in the endless loop again.
Would really like to rollback the bios, but have been unable to find one that works.

That is not a BIOS error but more like a broken harddisk.
You know a harddisk is cold in the morning, as such it can work fine until it heats.
As such it makes good sense to me it works in the morning but won't if it's heated.
Have seen this before, broken harddisk that boots fine when put in the fridge but won't after it's room temp.

  • IWeb team: What's up with the repeated Blog publish errors?

I maintain a simple, albeit many-entry -- all with photos, Blog on my daughter's .Mac iWeb site. Since the last iWeb update, I've started to encounter repeated difficulties when attempting to publish new Blog entries. All other updates on the site (Photo Albums, About Me, etc.) successfully publish, whereas new Blog entries pose the same problem, as follows:
"Publish error - Can't create the file "shapeimage_(blah, blah, blah).png. The disk may be damaged, full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."
Many of you are VERY familiar with that ubiquitous message. However, my many attempts at troubleshooting and workarounds (e.g. publish to a folder, close open applications, delete files from iDisk, republish all, trash and rebuild pages, Domain reloads, etc. -- thank you, James Tseng, Varkgirl, et al.) fail to isolate the CAUSE of the problem. Specifically, what is the iWeb app doing while it assembles the Blog page(s) that results in the iWeb-centric "can't create..." error message?
Please note that I am doing nothing different when adding a new Blog. The process is the exact same one that I've employed for over a year, one that lets iPhoto/iWeb do most of the work (in terms of layout).
As most of you know, it's a time-consuming process waiting for updates to publish to the site, let alone wondering IF the updates will successfully publish.
Unless I am mistaken and more often than not, the "shape_image" error message is pointing to a file generated by iWeb as it readies the behind-the-scenes HTML for upload, yes?
I'd appreciate some specific troubleshooting and answers, please.
