IWeb 1.1.1 - Publish Error - Disk quota

Still getting the error "Error reading iDisk quota".
This program has yet to work for me. I have the most latest version of every piece of software on my computer, boatloads of iDisk space....why is this error still popping up? help!!!!!!!!!

Actually, here is what I did.
I removed a couple of folders from my iDisk and tried again, but no success.
I logged out and back in again, but no success.
I downloaded the iWeb 1.1.1 update and applied it, but no success.
I emptied the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and fired up iPhoto and told it to make a photo web page anew from the selected photos. When I got to the iWeb part of the process I remembered that I had previously named the site (in the inspector) using a date. I believe I used spaces in the name. This time I used a name without spaces and it worked fine. Uploaded and all is well.
So, my suggestion would be to empty out the iWeb folder and start anew/copy back in selected pieces. And if that doesn't work, try removing spaces from the site name.
Actually, come to think of it, I think it's the site name that causes the problems because trying to create a new site via www.mac.com tells you not to use spaces in the name. Though for some reason, this check is not performed by iWeb.
Hope this helps someone.

  • I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error.

I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error. All was fine with my site until I added the photo album page. The software doesnt say what the error is exactly, only that it is a publishing error to my ftp
Exact message "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider."
If I reduce the albums inside to 1 then it seems to work but that takes away from the usefullness of multiple albums.
my iWeb version is 3.0.4 (601)

Publish your site to a folder on your hard drive to see if the publication will proceed successfully and open the site locally with your browser to confirm all of the alums are there and work.  If they do try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If you're still not able to publish from iWeb to your server download and use the free  Cyberduck to upload your website files to the server. Users have found that CD has been successful when iWeb had problems.

  • IWeb 1.1 Image Publishing Errors

When I try to publish my site, I encounter random publishing errors relating to images on my site.
Most of the time, they are images that I've never even heard of (and don't show up under a spotlight search either!). I'm assuming that they're images programed into the chosen template, but why would Apple put images into the templates that create errors? This would be the second time that I've uploaded my page to .mac with v1.1 and I had no problems the first time. All I changed was I added a few more blogs and some pictures.

    Thank you for contacting Apple.
Apple is investigating an issue that can cause some to receive one of the the following alerts when using iWeb 1.1 to publish to their .Mac website:
    - Unable to read your iDisk quota
    - An error occurred while publishing file "[filename]".
    - .Mac account credentials validation failed for account "[member name]"
We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we investigate. We will email you again once we have more information regarding this.
    Sincerely,
    The .Mac Support Team

  • IWeb 09 update causing publish error

I recently upgraded to iWeb 09 and now it appears that I need to republish my entire site. As I have attempted to do this, I am getting several publish errors similar to this one:
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/vP/vPY5vsWUHtadxxlDMXDzVE+TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.iWeb32120_TEMP_267051339_7/sites/Kadesh/Summerfiles/Cement Background Web.jpg”. Try publishing again later.
I have tried replacing the file, but then a different error pops up next time. In the process the navigation bar from my site is not showing up properly as some changes have taken effect, but now my site is all screwed up.
    Please help.

I'm having the same issues because of the recent upgrade to iWeb 09. I've tried all the tricks that are listed (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1678) and my guess is that I'm timing out.
I have several sub sites with less pages and pictures and have been able to publish them, just not my main site. Try publishing at night - less traffic. Make sure you have other applications closed, etc.
    Good Luck!

  • Publish Error: There was an error reading your iDisk quota

While trying publish to my .Mac account, iWeb gives me this message: Publish Error: There was an error reading your iDisk quota.
I published earlier to a group and it worked. I even went to my .Mac/iDisk system preferences on the web and alocated more space for my group site.
    No Dice.
I just tried publishing to .Mac without the group.
    No dice.
I even tried ellimanting some pages
    No Dice.
Hmmm. Frustrating. It worked before, now what?

i followed these steps recommended by mac support and it solved my problem. try it.
We are currently investigating an issue affecting some users who receive an error message while trying to publish a page or site using iWeb. The error states: "There was an error reading your iDisk quota."
Before we proceed with the steps to resolve this issue, we recommend that you back up the iWeb data file. If you already have this file backed up, you may skip to "Resolving the issue" below.
To locate the iWeb data file:
    1. From the Finder menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder.
    2. Type (or copy and paste) ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb into the field and click Go. You should now see a file named Domain. This file may also appear as Domain.sites, but we will refer to it as Domain throughout these instructions.
If you have the Backup application that is included with .Mac, you can use this to back up the file to your iDisk, CD/DVD, or to an external hard disk.
Note: Though there is an iLife plan in Backup, it does not currently back up the files associated with iWeb. To back up iWeb files, you will need to use either the Custom or Home Folder plan.
If you do not have Backup, you can create a copy of the file and place the copy in a safe place. To duplicate the Domain file, click the file once to highlight it, then select Duplicate from the File menu. This will create a copy of the file named, "Domain copy." Move this file to the desktop or any other safe location.
    Resolving the issue:
    1. Quit iWeb if it is open.
    2. From the Finder menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder.
    3. Type (or copy and paste) ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb into the field and click Go. You should now see a file named Domain. This is a Mac OS X package file.
Note: A package is a relatively common type of document in Mac OS X; it is essentially a sealed folder. It contains individual items, but cannot be opened in the same manner as a folder.
    4. To open the package, hold down the Control key and click on the Domain package file.
Note: If you have a two-button mouse, this step can be accomplished by right-clicking the Domain package file.
    5. Select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu that appears.
    6. A new window titled Domain will appear showing the contents of the package. Here you will see one file (or possibly two files) named "assets.<membername>.groups.<groupname>.plist" or "assets.<membername>.plist" where <membername> and <groupname> correspond to your .Mac member name and .Mac Group name.
Note: Your .Mac member name is the first part of your .Mac email address, before "@mac.com."
    7. If you have either or both of these files, move them to the trash. Then close the Domain window.
    8. Open iWeb and try publishing again.

  • PUBLISH ERROR in iWeb

Hello. I just started using iWeb '08 2.0.2 a couple of weeks ago, and all was going well until...
Now whenever I publish, I get an error message "Publish Error, an error occurred while publishing file ... Try publishing again later."
Here's what I've done, based on advice in this message board:
    1) Tried again later. Error still happens.
    2) Publish All to .Mac. It took a long time, but still the same result in the end.
    3) Publish to a folder. I tried the entire site in the local folder, and it works fine. Then I manually copied the folders to the iDisk folder. (That copy was painfully slow, several hours!)
Once copied to the iDisk, the website does not work properly. Specifically, the photo albums no longer appear on the photo pages. Viewing the page source of the photo pages when browsing on line, I see that all the java code is missing, whereas it is still there when I browse the version on my local disk from the "Folder" publish.
Anyway, the website is now a bit crippled, and I can't really invest more time in it since the program is so buggy. Can anyone help?
    Many thanks.

I've discovered something weird that I wonder if it has anything to do with not being able to publish. Since I upgraded to iLife 08 when I click "visit site" I get a web page that says the site doesn't exist. Yet when I go to my bookmark that I have for my site it shows up. The addresses are different. The address that iWeb is trying to go to is http://web.mac.com/username/site/page.html. My actual site address is: http://web.mac.com/username/iWeb/site/page.html.
Is iWeb somehow confused? I did at one time copy off iWeb and delete the site of my iDisk and tried to publish all, but that didn't work, so I copied the site back to my iDisk.

  • How can I solve this publishing error in iWeb?

Suddenly, when I try to publish in iWeb, I get the following error message:
    Publish error:
Can't create the file "site/home.html." The disk may be damaged or full, or you must not have sufficient access privileges
Well, I have a Mac Pro tower, loaded with plenty of space and my disk definitely isn't damaged. Go Daddy (my host) first told me it might be a firewall problem and to contact my internet provider, which I did. But they told me there were no outgoing firewalls. So I went back to go Daddy, who reset all my permissions, but I still got the same iWeb message listed above when I tried to publish. Go Daddy was able upload my files at their end as a test, which means the problem is right here with my iWeb.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • IWeb team: What's up with the repeated Blog publish errors?

I maintain a simple, albeit many-entry -- all with photos, Blog on my daughter's .Mac iWeb site. Since the last iWeb update, I've started to encounter repeated difficulties when attempting to publish new Blog entries. All other updates on the site (Photo Albums, About Me, etc.) successfully publish, whereas new Blog entries pose the same problem, as follows:
"Publish error - Can't create the file "shapeimage_(blah, blah, blah).png. The disk may be damaged, full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."
Many of you are VERY familiar with that ubiquitous message. However, my many attempts at troubleshooting and workarounds (e.g. publish to a folder, close open applications, delete files from iDisk, republish all, trash and rebuild pages, Domain reloads, etc. -- thank you, James Tseng, Varkgirl, et al.) fail to isolate the CAUSE of the problem. Specifically, what is the iWeb app doing while it assembles the Blog page(s) that results in the iWeb-centric "can't create..." error message?
Please note that I am doing nothing different when adding a new Blog. The process is the exact same one that I've employed for over a year, one that lets iPhoto/iWeb do most of the work (in terms of layout).
As most of you know, it's a time-consuming process waiting for updates to publish to the site, let alone wondering IF the updates will successfully publish.
Unless I am mistaken and more often than not, the "shape_image" error message is pointing to a file generated by iWeb as it readies the behind-the-scenes HTML for upload, yes?
I'd appreciate some specific troubleshooting and answers, please.

  • Iweb - Publish error - can't create the file "..."

    Hey guys,
I've seen this issue in a couple of discussions but nothing helps. When I try to publish my site I'm getting the following error note:
"Publish error. Can't create the file "...png". The disk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."
Same result whether I publish to an ftp or to a local folder.
My disk is far from full and the site is merely a few megas heavy.
The content is just text and a few photos.
I have OS version 10.6.8 and Iweb 3.0.4.
    No passwords involved.
I've tried all the tricks in the book:
Duplicating the page that won't publish.
Re-creating the page that won't publish.
    Deleting com.apple.iweb.plist from home/library/preferences
Moving my site domain to another location, creating a new site and then putting the old one back
    Deleting cache from libray/caches/com.apple.iweb
    I re-installed Ilife
    Reboots
    Banging head repeatedly again wall
Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it?
    Pleymo

    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Sudden publishing error on iWeb 06

I have updated my site since MobileMe kicked in, no problem. Now I'm getting this Publishing Error since I upgraded to 10.4.11:
"Can’t create the file “shapeimage3_link0.png.” The disk may be damaged, full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."
    I'm lost here...

Deborah ~ Your Public Profile settings in this thread imply you have downgraded from Mac OS X (10.4.11) to Mac OS X (10.4.7). On a Mac, MobileMe requires the latest versions of Mac OS X 10.5 or Mac OS X 10.4.11 (use Software Update to update to the latest versions). See this _.Mac to MobileMe transition FAQ_. And if you're not on the latest version of iWeb 1.x, Software Update should offer you its latest update also.
After updating to 10.4.11 (again!) and the latest iWeb 1.x, you may still see references to .Mac — particularly in System Preferences. According to the FAQ above, this is normal for Mac OS X 10.4.11. You can continue to use .Mac preferences.
    Deborah Zari wrote:
Will it automatically publish to MobileMe since .Mac is now gone?
Yes — because .Mac doesn't exist to publish to. (Although MobileMe could well be on the same physical servers as .Mac was on.)
    Deborah Zari wrote:
At some point I need to upgrade to '08, but I'll need to find complete, clear instructions on how to go about it.
Once you've installed iWeb '08 and opened it, you'll be invited to make your existing site (domain file) compatible with it. From there on, the short conversion process is automatic. You may find some differences in how your site looks in iWeb '08 (see here and here). If so, if you've made a backup copy of iWeb's key domain file and iWeb '06, you can continue to use them until you have resolved the issues with iWeb '08. And you'll want to preserve website comments when upgrading from iWeb 1.x to 2.0 — see here.

See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. And besides the backup suggestions there, the free SuperDuper! can also be used to regularly create a bootable clone of your entire internal HD on an external drive:
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper
...then if your internal HD fails, you re-boot with the Option key held down. Your Mac will start into Startup Manager, where you can use the arrow keys to select a Mac OS X volume to start from, i.e. your bootable clone from SuperDuper!. Besides the advantage of not losing any valuable data, you can continue working and use Disk Utility app in Applications > Utilities to diagnose the problem.
And, as mentioned before, this free SMARTReporter may give you an early warning of impending hard drive failure:

Some times all it takes is deleting the .plist to fix this but do the restart and permissions repair if you haven't done this proceedure for a while.

  • Publishing Errors in IWeb 1.1.1

I recently installed iWeb for the first time. I published my first site with little or no problems, a few days later I decided to add pages. Everytime I tried to publish to .mac I got an Unknown Publishing error. I have trawled the forums and this problem seemed to be an issue for 1.1 with the fix to update to 1.1.1. As I am already on 1.1.1 I am unsure what else I can do. I even deleted the saved site on my Powerbook and tried to publish a single blank page (to discount fonts, images etc.) that too gave me the same error. I have logged a support call with Apple but as yet have not received a response...........any suggestions?

Well, there's not really an answer to your problem. So many people here have described some kind of error or another it's hard to narrow things down to one cause. But there are a couple of things that you can try. See if any of these steps helps you out...
    1. Delete the iWeb preferences file called "com.apple.iWeb.plist" inside the .../Users/Library/Preferences/... folder.
    2. Delete the iLife Media Browser preferences file called "com.apple.iLifeMediaBrowser.plist" inside the .../Library/Preferences/... folder.
    3. Delete the iWeb application. Reinstall from the original iLife'06 DVD or your recovery disks. Update directly to iWeb 1.1.1 using Software Update.
    4. Repair your disk permissions using Disk Utility
    5. Restart your computer and try to publish before launching any other applications.
    6. Try a different internet connection.
Definitely backup your Domain file before doing anything drastic. This one file contains all the info iWeb needs to know about your websites so that you can continue to edit them in iWeb. So don't lose this file!
If you have found any of this information to be useful to you, please take the time to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I'd really appreciate it!

  • IWeb 08 UPGRADE and now receive a "Publish Error"

I am receiving a "An unknown Error occurred" Publish Error after I upgraded to iWeb 08. I cleaned out my iDrive directory, modified my website, etc, and still receive the same error. PLEASE HELP!

I got the "Publish Error", "An unknown error occurred." message when I was publishing to a folder. I tried again and watched the progress carefully, noting that it seem to stop on a blog page. I also found this message in the console log:

I removed the image in the blog's title area and the error went away. It still works after I added it back in. I had to do this for all three blogs on my site.
I do see dozens of these other messages in console log, but nothing has broken yet (that I can tell):
