Iweb 1.1.2 and iWeb 2.0 on the same machine?

Is it possible/safe to run both versions on the same machine? If so how does one do this? If this has already been covered, would someone be so kind as to point me the way?
I cannot trust 2.0 for serious work, but I think that it would be good to have it around in the event that the problems with it are every resolved. But I would like/need to continue to develop a website for a commercial interest and thus need to be working on the previous version.
So, I would appreciate very much if some of you wizards could tell me what is the most effective (and yes safe) way to be able to have both versions running on the same machine -- not at the same time of course.
thanks for your time!

I think I answered one of your posts on this subject in another topic regarding running both versions of iWeb on one computer.
I am doing it but I don't think its very wise unless you are real careful.
I don't publish "serious" websites to .Mac but I do use it for testing sites.
I have two old test sites on .Mac made in iWeb '06 and one made using iWeb '08.
I don't see why they would interfere with each other. They are in separate folders on your iDisk. Publishing to .Mac hasn't caused me any problems but then I really did not care if they got screwed up as I was only testing!
If you are working with more than one website you are better to save the domain.sites2 files in separate folders to make working on them and publishing to a folder easier and to publish each to a server with their own domain names.
The only problems I have had with converting old sites to iWeb '08 is with the page backgrounds and the navigation menu. I just quickly redid the backgrounds and that solved that. I'm not going to bother with the navigation issue because I have decide to rebuild my sites, one by one, in iWeb '08.
The transition from iWeb '06 to '08 was so horrendous for a lot of people that I just want to leave it in the past.
iWeb '08 is working fine for me. Its so easy and fast to use - what's the big deal about rebuilding a website when you get to incorporate the new features!

  • Can I install Web Standard CS4 and Design Standard CS4 on the same machine?

Can I install Web Standard CS4 and Design Standard CS4 on the same machine?  My company purchased me a copy of one, and I have a personal copy of the other.  Wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any serial number problems in any case...thanks!

Yes, but do a custom install to choose the apps to install to avoid any possibility of conflicts.

  • Runing BO 6.5 and Xi 3.0 on the same machine

I have installed 6.5 and Xi 3.0 on the same workstation. Both versions run fine when I run them one at a time (open one, work on it, then exit before starting the other).
However, when I run 6.5 and Xi 3.0 simultaneously, then the next time I try to run either of them, I receive a message asking me to install again.
    Has anyone run into this?
    Michael O

    Hello Constantino,
Is there no way this will work? As I have several customers thinking about or planning an upgrade/migration to XI 3.0, running legacy and new software side-by-side on the same machine is a very important issue, especially as migrations are usually an incremental process, requiring both versions to co-exist for some time.
I have never had any problems running 5.x / 6.x and XI r2 on the same machine, even simultaneous, that's why I'm so surprised at the sudden change.
Any input would be welcome! Thank you!
    Kind regards,

  • I want to run an NI GPIB card and a Keithly GPIB in the same machine.

I want to run a NI GPIB and a Keithly in the same machine for software development. Our labs use both types of card. Another employee tried to make it happen, but failed. I would like to use 1 machine due to software licensing issues.

    Hi,
There shouldn't be any interaction between the two GPIB drivers. The NI interfaces will use NI-488.2, wil the Keithley interfaces will use their low-level device driver. Each driver will manage the their own hardware.
In LabVIEW, you will use the NI-488.2 Vis to communicate with the NI interface. The Keithley driver has to install their own driver interface VIs.
The only problem is you want to use VISA for both interfaces. I don't know if there is a Keithley implementation of VISA, but there can nly be one installed in the system. The NI_VISA driver will allow you to control the NI interface, but not the Keithley interface. You can still use the Keithley interface using the low-level driver.
Finally, here is a knowledge base I found that has
some information that may be useful to you Using a Keithley PC488 GPIB Interface with LabVIEW
    Hope this helps.

  • Could CrystalServer 2011 and CrystalReports 2011 exist on the same machine?

    Dear all,
I got a pure Windows Server 2008R2 Virtual Machine, and I want to have Crystal Server 2011 & Crystal Reports 2011 on the same machine.  I downloaded the trail version of Crystal Server 2011(SP02), and Crystal Reports 2011(SP02).  So I tried to install Crystal Reports 2011, and then tried to setup Crystal Server 2011.  It pops a runtime error message, and cannot be installed. I tried to remove "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable", also did not work.  Then I tried from the other hand, I first installed Crystal Server 2011.  It was successful.  But when I tried to install Crystal Reports 2011, it still pops the runtime error message  and could not be installed.  Could anyone help me one this?
I tried to download BI Edge 4.0 trial,  and it could be installed on the one whcih Crystal Reports 2011 installed.
      Could anyone help me?

    Hello Dennis,
it's possible to run CrystalServer and CrystalReports on the same machine. Please make sure to use the same Version (SupportPack and Patch Level) of the two applications.
Regarding the runtime error during CrystalReports installation, do you have something more specific like an error message or screenshot?
    Best regards,

  • Can we have both 9i and 10g db running on the same machine

    Hi,
I want to to exp/imp upgrade of my 9i db to 10g db.
Can I have both 10g and 9i installed on the same server?
    Thanks,
    Kavitha

Yes, provided that the HW, OS version and Patch level are certified for both 9i and 10g.
Install 10g into a seperate ORACLE_HOME -- whether under the same "oracle" account or a different (e.g. "oracle10g" account).
However, you should consider 11g as 10g is being desupported this month (i.e. no new patches / fixes will be available for 10g)

  • Can you run Logic Pro 8 and Logic Pro X on the same machine?

    Hello all!
Congratulations to us on the release of the new Logic Pro!
I am still running Logic Pro 8 (and was waiting for X to come out since I knew it wasn't too far off) but am concerned over the loss of 32-bit plug-ins with Logic Pro X (the wrapping of my old VST plug-ins alone hurts!).  I've heard that installing Logic Pro X doesn't in any way gimp Logic Pro 9's usage, but can someone confirm whether or not Logic Pro X and Logic Pro 8 can operate in harmony on the same Mac?
As a bonus, is there any reason to believe that Apple would disable earlier versions of Logic Pro (such as version 8) from running on Mavericks?
I am planning my Logic Pro and Mac OS migrations!  Thanks!!

  • Can i install final cut 4 and final cut 5 on the same machine ?

    hi
i currently use fcp 5.14 on my g5 dual 2.3 (pci-x). i am starting to teach fcp at a college where they use fcp 4.5.
i know that i wont be able to prepare assignments for the students on fcp 5 'cause they wont be able to open them up on 4.5.
the system admin at the college gave me a copy of fcp 4 to install on my machine to sit next to my fcp 5.
my question is, can it be done ?
can 2 different versions of fcp exist on my machine without problems ?
do i need to install fcp 4 on a separate drive so it wont conflict with 5 ?
    any thoughts on that ?
    thank you very much..,
    nir

It can be done with a dual boot setup. I'll not speak to whether it should be done, other than to say it works for us.

We had to keep FCHD4.5 for awhile, so I archived 10.3.9, wiped the drive, partitioned it and re-installed 10.3.9 on one and 10.4 on another partition.
Then simply boot from different startup disk, depending on which OS you need to work on."<<

  • Has anyone tried home sharing between mac and windows using parallels on the same machine?

I recently purchased a mac, and plan to set up parallels for windows and windows 7 so that I can use the Windows version of Over Drive Media Console from the library and download WMA files in windows (limitation with mac version for wma downloads). I would like to synch to iTunes on the Mac iOS, but will need iTunes available in Windows to transfer the books I download in WMA format from the library to my iphone. Has anyone tried this? Any success or suggestions would be appreciated!

In case anyone is interested, last night I installed Paralells, Windows, Overdrive Media Console on Windows, and then was able to download my book in WMA format. I was hoping parallels would allow me to crossover sync to iTunes on the Mac and have Overdrive recognize that I had iTunes open, but I had to choose Windows or Mac when connecting my phone through the USB and had to choose Windows in order for it to successfully transfer. I was able to get it to work it is now synced to iTunes in Windows. The nice thing was that it pulled in all my music/apps that I had set up in the Mac side, so I didn't have to go through that exercise again. I tested it on my old phone. Now I need to decide if I want to set up my current phone on Windows or Mac, it seems that once synched it only opens the device in windows, I haven't figured out how to force the choice between mac or window again. If I do windows, I can't take advantage of the cloud or iphoto/imovie directly. I'm totally new to mac, but I think I'll have to import my photos manually.

  • Installation of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader on the same machine

What is the recommendation from Adobe on having both Adobe Acrobat Pro/Std installed and Adobe Reader installed on the same machine?
Is there an 'official' or 'recommended' statement for this?

I think it is not recommended or supported for versions earlier than X.

  • Is it possible to run VLM and lmtools on the same machine

hi together ... is it possible to run VLM and lmtools on the same machine without any problems?
the running system will be Windows Server 2008 R2 x64! maybe we will install the license server on the virtual server.

    Hi SvenNittmann,
in general, it should be possible to run both tools (VLM and lmtools for FlexNet) on the same machine. But I wouldn't recommend you this way, because NI VLM is also build on top of FlexNet and sometimes you will receive ugly problems with the installation of both tools on the same PC. It is possible to use VLM in a virtual machine without any problems or restrictions. NI provides information about the usage of VLM in a virtual machine, like you can see here:
Volume License Manager on a Virtual Machine - National Instruments
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5730FDDC97F9157E8625755F00749CFF?OpenDocument
I also use VLM in a virtual machine and I could recommend you the same solution.

  • PeopleTools 8.43 and 8.49 can be on the same machine?

    Hello Experts,
I have doubt about the following
1). Can i run two PeopleTools versions on the same machine? for example if i want to run PeopleTools 8.43 and HRMS8.8 and 8.49 & HRMS9.0 the same machine?
with two PS HOME's and 2 different databases (Database is on seperate machine)
please share your experience / idea's.
    Thanks a lot.

Of course, you can have many PS_HOME within different Peopletools version on same machine.
However, on Windows workstation/server, you should be careful :
    1. with the connectid (people) user and password, it is better if they are same on all your db if you want to avoid to change them through ConfigManager
    2. with DataMover default folder, it can take the one from a previous run, regardless the version you were/are using, so it could point to an other PS_HOME than the one you want. Or set a full path directory to your INPUT/OUTPUT file, or change the windows registry (I'm doing it by cmd script)

  • Can Logic Pro and Logic Express coexist on the same computer?

    Hi all,
I'm a fairly new user to logic. I started with Logic Express to test the water with it before committing to the Logic Pro. I decided I like it enough and have since purchased the Logic Pro upgrade.
My machine is a MacBook. This machine travels with me, so I am rather concerned about having to maintain a dongle when I am on the move.
Ideally, I would like to have both Logic Express and Logic Pro coexist on the same machine. That way, when I can reserve the use of Logic Pro for when I am in a stable environment but still be able to use Logic Express when moving around. Granted this would be with reduced functionality, but the peace of mind is worth that to me.
So does anyone here know if this is possible and can direct me to some instructions on how to accomplish this?
    Thanks!!
    Darth Vanva

I'd LOVE to be able to enable two simultaneous instances of Logic to accomplish what I want, but AFAIK that's an impossibility (unless a guru-whiz-type like Justin has some ideas on this...).
    OK, here's the deal...
I have 6 gigs of RAM now. While using Logic I can access up to 3G for samples. If I could somehow run another copy of Logic on the same computer (acting solely as a host for additional plugs, not for sequencing) then I'd gladly buy 2 more gigs of RAM so that the second instance of Logic could address 3G more. I'd still have 2G left for system headroom.
And there would be an additional (if not hypothetical) benefit to doing this...
Right now I can run stand-alone instruments outside of Logic (accessed via IAC) in an effort to overcome the 3G limit. But take GPO for example: I can only run 1 instance of it. And, there is no provision for saving any edits or custom made instrument sets in the stand-alone version. So not only would I be limited to 8 individual instrument slots in the lone GPO player, I wouldn't be able to save any custom programming. So much for recall... And of course, EXS is not a stand-alone plug so there's no way I could use it outside of Logic.
BUT... if I had this second instance of Logic running and treating it as a plug-in host, I'd be able to run multiple copies of plugs (just like I'm used to) and never have to deal with any stand-alone players. And of course by saving its song file I thus save all of my custom programming.
So yeah, it would be fantastic if I could run a second instance of Logic on the same computer. Theoretically.
