IWeb 2.0 It a ball.. it's fun.. NOT

This thing ate my older domain file (working with a copy).. when it opened everything looked intact... images on blogs were not the same size but everything else seemed in order. So I decided to publish to folder... not 30 seconds into publishing to folder it hung up and closed... then when I opened iWeb the files that it had published to the folder were blank... this is crappy.. good thing I loaded this on my G5 and not my main line MBP.
BTW: I read all through the recommendations and scrapted files reloaded and began again a few different times with different variations....
I even make a test site from scratch... it failed to publish.... and iPhoto only was able to create one photo album after this i get the bouncing ball..
Best thing to do... not waste any more time trying to get it to work (unless you really want to). It doesn't and will not work until Apple fixes it. This get an "F".
On the other hand.. Pages and Numbers is working great... Gets and A+. Haven't tried Keynote yet.

I feel your pain, since I've experienced it myself at other times.
But I have to say that some of us, including myself, have been very lucky. I suppose it's luck. I've had no crashes, to lock-ups, lost files are anything else. Admittedly my site isn't vast, and right this minute I have no photo galleries operative. I suppose I should check that stuff out.
Something tells me that the use of a few things, themes is the new candidate, might be the logjam for all who use it. And others who do not, like myself, get off scott-free. It might be page-counters or the presence of bullet points or some **** thing. They need SIGNIFICANT beta testing on this stuff, and I fear then didn't do it.

Possibly because dropbox is not really a proper webhost - it might be better if you went and signed up for proper web hosting from somewhere like http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com.
Have you told Google that you site exists? If not, then you need to do so - http://www.google.com/addurl.

IWeb 08 Gives Spinning beach ball constantly

Hey there all,
Maybe someone can help me. I am using iWeb 80 for numerous websites. While updating these sites (content, pics, text etc.) I will intermittently get a spinning beach ball, even while scrolling down the page. Has anyone experienced this and if so, is there a fix. Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As Roddy suggested consider using iWebSites to manage your multiple sites. I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me open, edit and republish one site at a time.

How can I publist my iWeb site to a Windows Server? (FTP is not an option, neither is a Linux server))

So I need to publish my iWeb site to a Windows server on a secure I can't access directly. I believe I need to export my iWeb site to a local folder on my Mac, then transfer those files to the computer that has access to the server.
I tried this earlier today with the tech in charge of the system and we had trouble getting the files uploaded.
I don't get any error messages, the new site simply doesn't show up.
Can anyone offer any help here? I know that iWeb users have had problems uploading to Windows servers, but If you know of specific work-arounds to the problems encountered, please let me know.

What ftp programme are you using to upload the site?
Also, where are the files being placed on the server - if they are not in the root folder on the server then they might not show up - (root folder could be anything from "public_html", "www", or "htdocs". This differs on all servers).
Also, when you published the site from iWeb to a local folder did you see all the files that iWeb produces - did you see firstly the Site folder, the separate index file? If you did, did you transfer this folder and file to the computer in question?
When you uploaded the site did you upload the whole site folder? If so, then you also need to upload the separate index file so that it points into the site folder - this needs to sit outside the site folder itself so that it points to the index file in the site folder.
If you don't want to upload like this, then what you can do is simply upload the contents of the site folder instead of the whole folder itself and place all the contents of the site folder - that being all the html file and the resultant css folders for each page to the server instead.

Help --- Finder Spinning Ball of Death Mavericks not starting

get the spinning ball of death when I select finder from the desktop or select anything for that matter.
I have tried reinstalling Mavericks, after the install I get a popup asking me to install java, regardless of the option I select either not now or install the SPOD comes up.
I then go into safe mode and downloaded java and installed it, then rebooted normal mode, same problem SPOD when you select anything.
I have created another account and that works fine, but not my normal account. Initially I thought it might be something to do with chrome, so I uninstalled that.
In addition I have removed any startup items I had against the user ID in system preferences. I have also switched off spotlight trying to build indexes.
I know my system is ok when I get the adobe update icon on my top menu bar. The boot up process simply doesn’t get to that stage.

The startup drive is failing, or there is some other internal hardware fault. Everything else is completely irrelevant.
Back up all data on the drive immediately if you don't already have a current backup. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

Iweb site for use with my own hosting company, not .mac

Hello,
What I would like to do is setup a photo album site in iweb but export it to ftp to my own hosting company.
I noticed on a link found here that if you do so you lose the ability to have a slideshow......will this effect the ability for a person to click on a picture to advance to the next picture?
I have tried phpalbum and looked at gallery program but I dont know scripting or programming so I am lost there.....iweb photo album page seems the best way to go.
Any advice would be helpful!!!

Hi PB,
That's not true. It maybe was using iWeb '06 but not iWeb '08. Just create your photopage, go to file=>publish to a folder, upload the resulting files to your server using your FTP application and you're done.
Everything works: slideshow, pictures overview, single picture.

Iweb page modified with a simple html editor , now not display navigation menu

Hello i've designed a site http://www.ballettgastini.ch with Iweb and was working till i've the needs to update a simple text in one page and get it via ftp from the server, modified with a simple html editor !!!!, and update via ftp on the server. now the page do not diplay the navigation menu bar !!!! the page is here : http://www.ballettgastini.ch/stundenplan.html ... any suggesion ? i'm working now with a new imac with no possibility to modify the entire web site on the server...but the need it's really to change few text lines so i think to use a simple html editor... any ideas ? thanks luca giay turin italy

Iweb reinstall- w/out losing current site (& i did not save domain.site)

OK--I had a major HD disaster. Lost everything. am rebuilding. I did not backup my 'domain.site' info--yet my website is still online & exactly how I last saved it. Is there ANYWAY I can save what's online so that when I reinstall iweb (which I am waiting to do) I won't lose what's on internet?
BTW I am finding the html files for the site--but not the domain.site file.

I had the same incident happening to me last week. My iWeb site is still online but I can't recover it. As far as I undersand, the only solution will be a lot of copy/paste from the site left online to iWeb before republishing it. I hope Apple will think of more obvious solutions, especially with .Mac in mind, in their next revision of its current software.

Tracker ball on 8900 will not move down.

So my blackberry, which is on contract to orange uk has again broken. the problem is that the tracker ball will not move down. it moves from left to right and moves up but doesnt move down. you can guess this is rather annoying! I have had it fixed a few months ago for the same problem but it was a bit pricey! I was wondering could you help me with this?

Try rolling it around on a baby wipe if you have one, if not some alcohol gel, or vodka on a tissue may work. Failing that you could take the trackball out and clean the sensors, it's fiddly but it does work. It's quite simple to do if you have the right screw drivers. I even managed it, and I'm a girl

My new mac did not come with iWeb but all the other iLife programs. Why not?

Is there anyone who knows why I don't have iWeb on my new computer? Have they taken it of? I read somewhere that there stoping mobilme next year and wounder if that is the reason but then you can use it without mobilme so I don't understand why I have everthing else form iLife but not this...

It is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

Shadows created in iWeb are turned into bulky boxes – a recent flaw not experienced before. (Clearing cache didn't help)

When I first tried Firefox instead of Safari, shadows around non-rectangular objects no longer followed the contour, but shadows around rectangular objects looked fine (same as in Safari.)
Now, for no apparent reason, shadows have become big grey rectangles, making the site look amateur and childish, though it still looks fine in Safari.

That is unfortunately a bug (Bug 662898) that slipped into Firefox 5 and that will be fixed in Firefox 6, due to be released in August.

Premiere Pro CC - Latest version, eye ball unchecked but does not show videoclip under?

in my timeline, I have 2 clips, one is above the other. When I uncheck the eyeball the video below does show. Also sometimes when I scrub the video, it wont move. It just stayes on 1 frame.

Spinning ball on iweb

I installed Leopard, and created a web site on iweb, it worked once and then every time i try to get into iweb it has a spinning ball. Please help!

Without seeing exactly what’s happening, here are some ideas:
1. Do you try opening iWeb from the Dock? If so, the alias may be corrupted. Try finding iWeb right in the Application folder and open it there. If that works then drag the old alias off the dock so that it disappears then make a new one.
2. Next, I’d try to re-install the application from a disk. This won’t harm your already-created site but it will fix damaged bits of code that may be causing the hang-up.

IWeb 09 java html snippet crash

Hi.
I'm trying to add a java irc (pjirc) applet as an HTML snippet, and everytime I do, iweb 09 freezes with a swirling beach ball, and makes me force quit it.
Any idea how to fix this? Has anyone else had luck with a java irc client in iWeb?

Launch the Console (in the Applications/Utilities folder) and see what messages are recorded when it crashes. I could be that that particular applet is not compatible with iWeb. Cyclosaurus would know if it was or not.

Trouble with iWeb and Snow Leopard?

I have a iMac (early 2007) Dual Core Intel Based, and have been using iWeb for a couple of years just fine.
Recently (a few months ago) I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and since then my computer freezes etc...
I've been getting the dreaded Grey Screen with the Apple Logo and churning gear at startup and the computer won't get passed that point.
I've tried booting from my Snow Leopard Disk and have run Disk Utility and Repair, and I have no errors.
What's odd is that if I try to open iWeb now and start using it for more then a couple of minutes the computer gets the dreaded spinning rainbow and freezes up, forcing me to shut down often.
Now, I am only able to start my computer early in the morning after it has been turned off at night.
Any Reccomendations?

Assuming the actual install of Snow Leopard is OK, you could run Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) to see if there is any unusual activity when your Mac is idling.
If so, you can launch Console.app to see if you can see what it is that's causing it.
I had that problem on an old iMac last night where iWeb was sluggish and the ball was spinning.
It turned out that CrashReporter was hogging the CPU by continuously creating reports for an unidentified app, hidden in the System files, that was trying to launch. After tracking down and extermination it, all became peaceful again.
