IWeb 2.0 MacWorld Keynote

So does this mean that we can't expect any major updates to iWeb?

I am also a bit let down by the lack of an official OSx Leopard announcement and an upgrade to iLife announcement...
I do think the iPhone is awesome and I was really excited - practically drooling as I read over the minute by minute coverage of the keynote (plus I need a new iPod to replace my old 2gig mini and I already use cingular so the iphone is a no brainer purchase for me) - But...we're is the new software...I appreciate Apple's need to show the world their diversity and all as a company moving beyond computers, but aren't we - the Mac users - the ones that have made it all possible for them by supporting the updated OS and applications and all things MAC...So where are my upgrades? Where are all the new features? Where is the love?
I also can't help but feel slighted just a little bit with iLife and iWeb in it's current form...Every new release of iLife seems to improve on things just enough to keep your interest...like a carrot on a string that you can't grab! Example; the inclusion of themes for iMovie...Fantastic idea and great selling point...but then you use them and you are disappointed because you have only a few available and no easy way to make them on your own or edit the existing ones, not to mention that Apple has seen fit to not release any add-on packs as they did with garageband over and over again...The same can be said for iWeb...It is easy to use and gives you all of these dazzling templates and graphical wysiwyg elements, but then you get into the nuts and bolts of it and try to put truly functional and everyday content in your site such as forms, flash, and rollovers and you realize that you have kinda been short changed on functionality...Having to use third party programs and editors or workarounds all the time is a big let down...and it also makes you crave more from iWeb and apple.
I suppose these complaints and feelings of being let down are actually the biggest compliment that I can give Apple, because it truly shows how excited I was for more upgrades and a new iLife suite!
Unfortunately, now I suppose I will have to prep myself for the undertaking of learning Dreamweaver...

QT Macworld keynote works with new user account

Hi,
This is a really annoying problem, I can only watch yesterdays Macworld keynote if I setup a new user account and view using that user.
When I login using my own user account the QT stream just times out. I have checked all my network and QT settings and they are exactly the same for both users. I have also tried reinstalling and the problem remains.
If anyone has any idea of what could be causing this to happen I would be very greatful.

The fact that it works for one user and not another, I suggest looking at your locations tab in the Network control panel, and simplifying your life if you have multiple locations, and then make sure that the proxy settings (particularly the proxy.pac setting) is either reachable when you use Quicktime or not set at all. I removed it, problem solved.
Here's the image of an empty proxy.pac setting. In the network control panel, you have to scroll down to see it, so you may have missed it when you did your comparisons:

Hey where can I watch all the past Apple Macworld Keynotes?

I was surfing around the Apple website to look for past Macworld Keynotes but it only goes back to the Keynote where the iPhone was introduced is there anywhere else that I can watch other past keynotes?

I couldn't find any doing a Google search. However I did find the MacWorld 2006 Keynote.

QT does not play macworld Keynote - Why?

For some reason, QT won't play the macworld keynote or the iPhone streams.
All I get is a small QT window with a blue QT logo and a moving blue graphic denoting that its playing - something.
The file name at the top is: m8848125_350ref.mov
Is this what everyone else has?
Movie trailers are fine etc. Just seem to have problems with the two videos on the keynote page. Weird.

What do i need to change. Its set on automatic at the moment.Checking the "Transport Setup" is to simply see if anyone (or any software) might have changed the default settings. (Normally "Automatic" or the "Custon > HTTP > Port 80" combination. Of course there are a number of assumptions here. It is assumed that you have a compatible cable modem (and router if required) properly installed, an ISP connection is up and working properly, and you have sufficient bandwidth to play the streamed file.
As I was not all that interested in watching the entire "show," (want the Apple TV and would like a "widescreen" iPod but could care less about the "phone" capabilities), I only scanned the stream on Tuesday and saved a local resource pointer movie so I could go back and watch it in more detail again later. In any case, just finished sending a copy of the ref movie pointer file (220 Kbps ref version) to my old 400 MHz G4 to see it had any problems. Worked fine playing from the e-mail message using the QT plug-in. In fact, I even opened a second copy of the movie (a 350 Kbps ref version) directly in the QT Player. Both played simultaneously as long as I didn't try to anything else on the computer (except keeping the laptop from going to sleep). Based on this, I don't see why your 2 GHz iMac should have any problems whatsoever. Therefore, would concentrate on your ISP connection/settings here.

Macworld keynote won't stream

Hi,
I've been trying to open the keynote from the 2009 Macworld conference from the Apple web page and it times out. I don't know if it's an issue from Apple or is something wrong with my Quicktime App. I've downloaded the latest version from the web page and it still doesn't work.
Can anyone help me?

In the mean time, Make sure you have the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player Software
Also, check the streaming settings in QT MIME Settings.

Archives of MacWorld Keynotes?

I didn't know where else to post this. I married a gal last year who is a music nut. I told her about the keynote where John Mayer demoed Garage Band. I've been looking for the 'cast to show her, but I'll be damned if I can find it anywhere.
Has Apple ever thought they might want to keep an archive of Jobs' keynotes somewhere??? Or is there one hiding out somewhere in the nether regions of the Cupertino LAN?

I believe the keynote was the 2004 Macworld in SF. There are some notes and a photo of John Mayer demo-ing GarageBand here:

from a brief look, it's only the latest keynote that uses a different format, so not sure why you can't see the October one.

Can't watch Macworld keynote address (QT error -66559)

Hi,
I've been trying to watch the http://macworld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/mw/index.html webcast using QT on Tiger 10.4 on my Mac Mini and iMac Dual Core.
In both cases, I get a QT Network error -66559.
A PC connected on the same wireless router (Netgear) works OK though, so I guess there is something wrong with the way I configured my Ethernet port on both Macs (manual IP address, nw mask, gateway and DNS servers mentioned).
Anyone any idea about where to start looking ? I'm running out of ideas here.

Update.
My network configuration consists of a DSL Modem (Thomson Alcatel Speedtouch). To this access device I connect a Netgear GT614 Wireless Router.
The ADSL Modem dials in in PPPoE mode and serves a DHCP IP address to the GT614, which in turns routes the Ethernet connections.
As explained, none of the Macs (configured as DHCP Client to GT614 or fixed IP client) would stream the QT webcast correctly. PCs connected to the same network would though !
I just tried another setup, which is to Bridge the ADSL Modem and let the GT624 perform the PPPoE dial in.
Configurations unchanged on the Macs.
And now it works on both Macs and on the PC.
I can't explain why the new setup works and why the original setup only works for the PC.

2007 Macworld Keynote

I have QT7.1.3 installed and when I try to play the keynote all I get is the player frame with a slider moving back and forth under the "Q" logo. I've been trying ot stream this since the 9th and still can't get it to stream a single second. The odd thing is I can stream the commercials no problem.
Anybody else having this problem?

IWork 06 and iLife 08 conflict in Keynote?

This I don't understand - I have been using Keynote '06 for over a year with no problems, importing presentations from powerpoint and creating new ones in keynote and exporting back to powerpoint. But... since I updated to iLife '08 a couple of days ago EVERY Keynote presentation I open tells me it can't find ArialMS - and it then substitutes an ersatz font which seems to be nameless, if I edit the master slide and choose Arial what I get isn't what I had - and the formatting is different. I should add that most of my presentations run to 90 to 120 slides so I am not happy, to say the least. I also have an issue with my podcasts and iTunes but I hope that is getting fixed by Apple. How can I get back functionality in Keynote and why has an iLife update caused this problem?

I'm having this same problem with iWeb 1.1.2, Keynote 2.0.2, and Pages 1.0.2. In my case the font is Times New Roman MS.

No audio on Steve Jobs Keynote 2006

I have tried to watch the 2006 Macworld Keynote online. I am able to receive the video but cannot get any sound at all.
I am on Mac OS X 10.3.4 with the latest updates; Quicktime Pro 7.0.4 with automatic default settings. On the A/V controls the volume is on maximum.
I note others on the forum with various error display when accessing this but no one appears to be having a sound problem. I have check other streaming video and there is no audio difficulties.
Can anyone advise?

Solution
Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
Quit Audio MIDI Setup.

No sound with Keynote?

I realized that I used Garage Band a couple days ago. Try to open and quit Garage Band and see if it helps.

Why upgrade from Keynote 2.0 to 3.0?

For Keynote users who have upgraded from 2.0 to 3.x, what are the two three biggest differences, features, reasons you have found it to be worth the change?
I own a copy of iWork '05 with Keynote 2.0. I just bought a new MB Pro and understand from this Forum that I can't just upgrade to 3.x. I have to buy it. iWork '05 works fine - should I get the new one anyway?

Let's see if I can remember all the differences
besides iWork 06 being full Universal Binary (meaning it runs at native speeds on your new laptop)
#1 mask to shape (not just rectangle mask, you can mask a photo to any shape)
#2 iDVD export. This is still pretty basic, but it's a decent feature (though it requires iDVD 6)
#3 more themes (many of them new HD themes)
#4 a few new drawing tools, and some of them include the ability to change the shape using a little sliding dot. This means you can change the shape of the arrows, triangles, etc.
#5 bezier tool, plus the ability to completely edit any keynote shape using bezier handles
#6 scatter plot chart
#7 reflection tool
#8 group scaling
#9 calculations in tables (they're pretty basic though)
#10 new effects (and a few old ones are turned off and on by a new option in the prefs)
#11 html export (images and nav buttons only though)
#12 multi-column text boxes, and bullets in ANY text box
#13 3d charts
#14 build items in between bullet builds
There's a bunch more little things, but I just can't remember them all.

QT whacked on my account, other accounts OK ? ;( MacWorld SF 06

i am able to view the MacWorld SF'06 stream on my windows pc and on other users accounts but sadly, my own account (admin) does glitchy video.
Thinking of this to be a case similar to that of Finder Prefs, i trashed the quicktime preferences.
restarted.
No result.
i still get glitchy video and broken audio.
all apple events give me the same problem,
but QT movie trailers frm apple are working fine.
also tried repairing premissions, no avail.
i am using Quick Time 7.0.4 Pro and also have the flip4mac player 1.0.2(the latest one i stalled).

I'm having exactly the same problem.
I posted this topic yesterday (QT Macworld keynote works with new user account)
The only thing that I can think of is maybe there is some software in the HOME/Library directory thats screwing up QT on my user account, apart from that the only thing I can think of is permissions??
I too have gone through the obvious fixes such as fixing permissions etc.
I a sense I'm glad to see that someone else is experiencing this, I thought I was going crazy there for a while...
