IWeb 2008 or iWeb 2009?

I have iWeb version 3.0.2. Is this iWeb 2008 or iWeb 2009?

This is the fault of Internet Explorer - it must be one of the worst search engines around now and other better ones have come along now such as Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome.
Mostly, PC users have problems because they may not have javascript turned on in their browsers and as so much of iWeb is javascript, then this causes problems. You could put something on your website to the effect that it is best viewed in Safari for PC or Firefox and Google Chrome. This might encourage PC users to download different browsers rather than sticking with IE!

  • IWeb 2008 and publishing via CD?

I'm working on a volunteer project. It's a simple, small web-site for a historical/reunion organization with a very small budget.
The web-site is being put together in iWeb, but I cannot publish it directly. A local businessman is offering to publish on server space reserved for his business. I will have to burn the site to a CD-R, give it to the business, and then the site will be published to that server.
The business owner already registered a domain name with GoDaddy, so people interested in the web-site will type in the URL, and it will reflect to the business owner's server.
NOW FOR THE BURNING QUESTION! (Pun intended) How do I burn the site from, iWeb 2008 to a CD-R to give to the business owner? Is there any special procedure I should follow?

    I'm a little confused.
Why do you distinguish between the index.html file and the folder?
Is there something there I should be aware of?

  • Iweb page to iweb 2008

I created a page with an older version of Iweb. How can I move it to iweb 2008 without redoing it all over.

Arnold ~ If you've just installed iLife'08 on your current Mac, +iWeb 2+ will automatically upgrade your +iWeb 1+ pages when you start up +iWeb 2+ for the first time.
Once upgraded, you'll need to republish them. If you're hosting on .Mac, in +iWeb 2+ do +File > Publish All to .Mac+.
If you've bought a new Mac, the +Migration Assistant+ is located in +Applications > Utilities+; see this Apple article +"Move All Your Stuff to a New Mac — Quick"+:
    http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/migration.html
    ...and this +"Migration Assistant FAQ"+:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25773
...Once you've transferred your files, start up +iWeb 2+ and your +iWeb 1+ pages will be automatically upgraded. Likewise in this case also, you'll need to republish.

  • How to restore uploaded iWeb sites as iWeb data on your computer.

My original internal HD died. Fortunately, I had data backed up with Time Machine. Unfortunately, I had turned off automatic backup because Time Machine was giving my computer problems and I'd forgotten to do a manual backup. So the last backup my Time Machine did was in 2008. In that time when I Time Machine was turned off, I had created a few sites on iWeb and uploaded to my Mobile Me account. I now have a new HD and restored all my data from my Time Machine backup but the most up to date are from 2008. I've lost the iWeb files created in 2009. Is it possible to restore my iWeb files to my computer from the files I uploaded to the Mobile Me server? If so, how would I do it? Hope there's a way. Thanks.

As you already found out you'll have to rebuild from scratch. However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing image, audio and/or video files in the published site in the reconstruction of the site.
Also it might be a good time to develop a backup strategy.

  • IWeb 08 AND iWeb 09???

I have a number of sites built on iWeb 08 on my main computer. I like iWeb 09 which is on my macBook. If I purchase iWeb 09 for my main computer, can I run BOTH iWeb 08 and iWeb 09 or will the latter update and overwrite the files I have already created?

08 wil become 09. Unless you save a copy first.
iWeb 08 will not open iWeb 09 files.

  • Visual Studio 2008 with BizTalk 2009 Missing Assembly Reference - Developing under Windows7

    I'm having a similar issue to this....> http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2df94010-5755-4982-a02d-81f8feb51fda/visual-studio-2008-with-biztalk-2009-missing-assembly-reference?forum=biztalkgeneral
Prior to going to Win7, I was developing on a Win-XP machine. I used to delete the generated code and have VS generate it again, but no luck. I get errors in the Build, similar to what shows in the Message Assignment shape in the orc. It's complaining about
a missing part of a Multi-part message.  Oh, and the Multi-part message is a schema created in VS2005/BizTalk2006 R2, which was created on a separate Win-XP machine.
Just wondering if anyone has come up with a fix to this? The previously documented entry did not seem to have a solution.
    Thanks.

    Jeff,
    Do you see your_orchestration.odx.cs ?
If you do Can you try as following:
    1. Take backup of whole solution
    2. Delete all .cs files associated with biztalk artifacts, like odx.cs, xsd.cs, btm.cs
    3. Open orchestration and in any one of the expression shape copy all statements.
    4. Click OK to close the Expression window.
    5. Build the solution. (you should get errors)
    6. Goto expression and paste code.
    7. Build
This has worked for me in past. May be it will work for you too.

  • Re: Old iWeb to new iweb problems -please help

    1. I've been experimenting with the new iweb, and I inserted the html on the page,
then I uploaded onto the internet to see what it looked like, and now I can't delete
the html from the page. What should I do?
    2. I took my original iweb pages and created new pages with the new iweb
using the original addresses, and on the internet, it says page not found.
    What should I do?
    3. I have videos created with imovie, but in the new iweb they are not showing up on the internet, they upload to a folder, but not onto the internet, I tried everything. What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Barbara

    1) Do you mean that you insert HTML into a snippet box?. If so, delete the box and republish.
    2) If you are publishing to the Apple server then the page URLs are different. iWeb '06 publish to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb folder and iWeb '08 publishes to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites. The old URL will have iWeb in it and this needs to be cut.
30 iWeb '08 stores your movies in the "Media" folder. Make sure you have uploaded it.

  • Run iWeb '06 and iWeb '08 on same startup drive

Anyone else have any experience with keeping iWeb '06 and iWeb '08 on the same startup drive, to be used independently?
My iWeb '06 is loaded with dozens (and dozens) of thirty-party templates that cannot be imported into iWeb '08 (ie 11Mystics, etc). Meantime, I have sites originally designed in iWeb '06 that are up and running that I'm responsible for updating.
I'm gradually 1-by-1 rebuilding each of these sites in DreamWeaver - but those constructed in iWeb '06 need attention from time-to-time, and I've no time to rebuild them from scratch.
Opening any of these .sites files in iWeb '08 causes major problems, I won't attempt again. And besides, that eliminates access to the older templates that allow adding in pages like Photos, Movies, Blogs, etc. And if I'm going to take the time to rebuild, I'm going to do that in Dreamweaver.
I'd love to move ahead and utilize the possibilities for new design options in iWeb '08, but the sites built in '06 need more or less constant care & feeding.
Anyone else manage to make this work successfully?
I've considered the obvious options, such as, A. Don't; or B. Boot iWeb '06 from an external startup drive - this won't work for reasons I won't outline here or C. Compress each in disk image and de-compress each time - every time I do this, the installed templates in iWeb '06 disappear.
Thanks - suggestions welcome from those who have tried this...

    Roddy -
Thanks for responding! Absolutely I agree - not for the "sane and responsible." Which lets me off the hook. I've tried the alternatives you suggested - I have quite a few Macs running here - but I do most of the heavy lifting (graphics-wise) on a G5, so that's where I'd far prefer doing web design.
I have two internal HDs and two externals, but can't get Adobe to authorize another install on the CS3 suite - and the back n forth between Photoshop, Bridge, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and iWeb is near constant.
I had set this up on the MacBook Pro but it's driven me nuts trying to get files coordinated back and forth (at this point, I have over 20 active .Domains files I'm updating and keeping track of.) I guess my main concern was understanding what happens to the com.apple.iWeb.plist in User>Library>Preferences. I don't know what else they have in common to get mucked up (other than accidentally launching the wrong app, or clicking on an older .Domains file instead of the newer app.
Pretty soon all the older sites will have been rebuilt in Dreamweaver using CSS and I can forget all about this craziness.
And now with Leopard arriving in a week this could get really interesting.
    Thanks, Roddy!

  • Can I import a non-iWeb website into iWeb?

How can I import a non-iWeb website into iWeb so that I can use iWeb to edit the site?

You can't: iWeb cannot import html files, and relies entirely on its own 'Domain' file which lives by default in your User Library. You would have to recreate the site from scratch, using the original as a guide and a source for images and text; or use an HTML editor.
Depending on how complicated the site is you may be able to do this in Kompozer, which is free. It is a WYSIWYG web page created which also gives you access to the code, and which can open any HTML page (though if the page is heavily dependent on external CSS you may have difficulties with it).

You will only know about the hard drive when you try to access it in TDM from your other computer. If you cannot boot into TDM mode or if the drive does not appear on the new computer's Desktop then it is likely bad.
What you are thinking about as a recovery disk is the Recovery HD normally created when you install Lion or later on the computer. You boot from it as follows:
    Boot Using Command+R keys:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
"COMMAND" and the "R" keys together.
      3. Release the keys when the Utilities Menu appears.

  • Iweb '06 vs. iweb '09

    Hello all,
I'm still using 10.4. My purpose is to develop web pages and podcasts and my current plan of action is to upgrade to 10.6 to continue to enjoy iweb features. Is there any variance between '06 to '09 iweb?

Yes.  iWeb that came with iLife 06 was V1 and had limited capability.  iWeb 3 that comes with iLife 11, has many additional bells and whistles, i.e. widgets and HTML snippet, etc.  However, if you're thinking of upgrading to iLife 11 I'd get a boxed version ASAP because of the following:
It is now apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.  However, there may be some copies of the boxed iLife 11 still on the shelves that would include iWeb and iDVD.  Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.
iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ RSS Feed Widget
All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.

That's okay, next time simply click the Post New Topic link at the top of a relevant forum page to post your own question. As the Discussions guidelines advise:
"If your issue has any significant difference from a similar topic, then you're probably better off posting a new topic to focus attention on your particular issue." (Source).

  • Differences between iWeb 08 and iWeb 09 ?

I have looked at Apple's site, and have questions about iWeb.
I notice that iWeb 09 has dropped some themes that are available in iWeb 08, if you install iWeb 09 will it incorporate those older themes? Or will it drop them? I ask because I use one of the discontinued themes.
Other than a Facebook link, what are the differences between the two versions? Are there any problems of note that people upgrading should be aware of ?
    Thanks

iWeb built sites are only complicated if you make them so.
Its not just the graphics - its what you can add to them that expands the file size!
    Example....
    http://roddymckay.com/PhotoStuff/PhotoFile.html
Apple seem to be ignoring the fact that QuickTime is not a very popular format. The fact that they abandoned the option to export from Keynote in SWF is rather strange. I better not comment on this or I will be censored again!
There are a lot of quick loading and interesting slideshows out there. Simple viewer and its companions are fairly easy to implement and JALbum has some stunning stuff.....
    http://jalbum.net/newsletters/2009-01-20.html
    .... and its all free.
My websites give Internet Explorer a hard time and, on occasion, lock it up if I don't optimize.
I think a few graphics add interest to a site but a lot of people go overboard to show off their "talents". The fact that you can do something doesn't mean that you should.
I think the big problem with iWeb is that you can make stunning websites very easily but they, very quickly, get too big for easy download.
Web pages don't cost anything much so why make them long? Spread your visual content out over several pages and write some interesting text for the search engine spiders and those who can read.
I don't use QT for music anymore as most PC users are more likely to have flash. I sympathize with those who do movies. I think if I was into this I would show good quality clips and provide a download for the full version.
The albums template is a neat idea but, if you have several albums containing 100s of photos, how can you expect fast downloading. One good photo beats a 100 lousy ones any day!
At the moment I am attempting to build an instructional website for musicians to create sites in iWeb. Although I would expect almost 100% of the audience to be using Safari on a Mac due to the nature of the site, I am still trying to get it to download as fast as possible by using the "image tricks" and optimizing using Web Site Maestro.
As you can see, I'm using a fair amount of graphics - and music players of course - but it downloads in a reasonable time with a hi speed connection.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/
Once I get it "finished", I'll go over it to see what I can simplify.
