IWeb Add Comment Functionality

I have set up a blog where users can add a comment. This works fine for me using firefox on an imac, and on my laptop using xp and IE 6.
However some windows users using IE 7 are having issues, whenever they click Add comment the form that pops up is blank or the Add Comment button on the new form is missing ?
Anyone know why ? Is it an IE 7 issue ?
Thanks

What you should do is look at this link it should help a bunch!! Please mark it as solved if it does work!

  • IComment and "add comment" @ .mac don't work together

    Hi guys,
    i just used iComment to add trackback code from StatCounter, and did all things in the right way. The statistics worked. But then, the "add comment" function is gone, it disappeared from all pages. I am not using Haloscan to add comments, 'cause I use .Mac as my provider.
    Can not these 2 programs work with each other? Any one got idea?

    thanks a lot. but how can i get the comments back? "add comment" function is more important than trackback for me. can i just export the whole website to iDisk and then synchronize?

  • "Add Comment" missing on Blog in iWeb ???

    Well there's sommeting missing (or that i cannot find) in iWeb...
    How to add the possiblity to let visitor the option to "add comments" on our blog ???
    Most of Blog editors include this option, so i'm surprise apple forget this option ???
    I saw the post with iComments... but is it the only solution to have comments on our blog "create on a mac" ?
    Please does anyone have a solution to create "add comments" on .Mac web site or blog ?
    Imac G5 20inch iSight   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Could those of you who haven't done so please provide your site URLs. It may help in isolating this problem if we can see exactly what's happening.
    In another similar thread where I've checked a provided URL I've noticed that the blog text has been converted to an image, and I'm beginning to wonder if this is what's causing the problem. There's certainly something strange showing up in the source for that site which doesn't apply to Joel Suplido's blog pages which work correctly.

  • Comment Function Solution

    At least for one scenario using iWeb v08 and hosting with Apple...
    I was a dotmac user. I had a unique domain name for my blog, that forwarded to the dotmac blog address. I added the comment function following the transition to mobileme, but was puzzled because I never got any comments (even though readers had requested the comment feature). Yesterday I found out users were getting an error message and went digging for an answer, which turned out to be absurdly simple, but annoying.
    The whole problem came down to using "...mac.com" in the domain forwarding address. If a reader was redirected using the mac.com address, comments don't work. As soon as I edited the domain redirect address to "...me.com", voila, comments work.
    Hope this helps. Would be interesting to know how many other iWeb issues this mechanism might be related to...
    Mark

    Mark ~ Good to hear you found the solution. These forums' Search Bar and Apple's Search Support page are under-used:

    ...at that page, this document can easily be found:

  • Google Analytics breaks iWeb blog comments

    Does anybody know a workaround for Google Analytics' breaking of iWeb blog comments? Apparently, from some posts I've read, StatCounter and other traffic stat services break iWeb blog comments, too... so it's apparently an iWeb issue rather than a Google Analytics issue. FWIW, I'm publishing to my MobileMe personal domain. Thanks in advance!

    I found a decent way of adding Google Analytics to all pages, without using HTML Snippits (which cause analytics to track those odd page names like widget2_markup.html), that doesn't break MobileMe comments, and doesn't require any post-processing of your iWeb site. Just Publish and go! Open up your iWeb app bundle, and drill down to Contents/Resources/Scripts/Site. Open up the file iWebSite.js in TextEdit (or your favorite text editor), and paste the following at the bottom of the file:
    // Begin Google Analytics
    gaTrackerId = 'ss-ddddddd-d'; // insert your tracker id here
    document.observe('dom:loaded', function() {
    var gaJsHost = ( ('https:' == document.location.protocol) ? 'https://ssl.' : 'http://www.') + 'google-analytics.com/ga.js';
    var script = new Element('script', { 'src': gaJsHost});
    var gaTrack = function() {
    if (
    !script.readyState
    || /loaded|complete/.test(script.readyState)
    var pageTracker = gat.getTracker(gaTrackerId);
    pageTracker._trackPageview();
    script.observe('load', gaTrack);
    script.observe('readystatechange', gaTrack);
    document.body.appendChild(script);
    // End Google Analytics
    Credit to this solution goes to this blog post. I got the idea to find a way of using Google Analytics in Prototype (since iWeb sites use the Prototype JavaScript framework) and found that blog snippit.
    And yes, since this is editing the iWeb application bundle, you may need to reapply this hack if/when iWeb is updated. Hopefully though, some enterprising iWeb engineer is reading this and will add proper Google Analytics support to iWeb for us.

  • Commenting functionality for blog pages

    Does anybody have any information as to when/how Apple might be planning to address a horrible oversight in an otherwise solid 1.0 release... NO COMMENTS!
    Is a blog really a blog without commenting functionality? I realize I could publish to a folder and then tweak the code to add a third party service like Haloscan, but that kind of defeats the "one-click" appeal of iWeb. I am still surprised to see that this software made it out the door without some implementation of a commenting solution.
    I would be happy with either an Apple proprietary system via a future update OR the ability to insert snippets of code right in the iWeb workspace from third party commenting services. Either way, currently my blog is just a series of static articles without the communal discussion aspect that commenting provides. It's very frustrating when you look at all the other blogging options out there, and nearly every single one allows for comments.
    Apple, please don't make us wait until 2007 and another $99 Family Pack to address this crucial oversight! Otherwise, I really love this software. I'm rebuilding my own blog and site with it

    A hack has been worked out using Javascript, and it works very well. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1609160#1609160
    Thanks again, Chad!

  • Why can't my recipient add comments in a pdf created in Frame 7.1?

    I created a pdf in Frame 7.1. The recipient was using Reader 9 and could not add comments. I had enabled commenting and removed all security in Acrobat Pro 7.1. Did I miss something? Can  you comment a pdf that was created in Frame 7.1?

    Commenting is a function of Acrobat settings. FM7.x doesn't really matter in this case. I sounds like you've done it properly. Here's a quick link to enabling the Commenting function in Acrobat 7: http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/acrobat/articles/acr7ttrdrcomt/acr7ttrdrcomt.pdf
    You might want to ask in the Acrobat Forums if there are known compatibility issues using the older version to enable commenting for the newer Reader.

  • Highlight and comments function in Adobe Reader 9

    Is it possible to activate the highlight and comment function in Adobe Reader 9. An online help line suggests that this is possible. Is this for a different version of Reader?

    It is possible, but it requires that the file be given certain rights in advance in Acrobat. With later versions these rights became obsolete and Reader can add highlights and sticky notes even without them.

  • SharePoint 2010 Allow User to Add Comments to Files in a Library and to the Header of the Web-Page

    (1) I need to allow an end-user to be able to add comments to files either when they are added to a library or after they are added. I didn't see a Column available for adding to a Document Library for "Comments".
    (2) I need the same user to be able to add text/comments to the Header of the web-page that contains the library (above the library at the top of the screen).
    When I (the SP Admin) add the "Content Editor Web-Part" to the top of the web-page that contains the Document Library, the Toolbar disappears. The Content Editor Web-Part would be ideal to allow the end-user to add comments to the Header, but I
    really need the Toolbar available.
    Is there another Web-Part that I could use for allowing comments to be added to the Header of a web-page without disabling the Toolbar, or is there a known-fix for allowing the Toolbar to be available and functional after adding a Content Editor Web-Part?
    JCashon

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to add Comments to Files in a Library and to the Header of the Web-Page.
    (1)If you use the document content type in the library, it will contain the “Comments” field automatically. When you add the document, you can enter the conments. You can also edit the “Comments” field after the document added.
    (2)If you add the add the "Content Editor Web-Part" to the AllItem.aspx Page, you can add the text to the web part as the Header.

  • Add comments button not visible for IE and firefox users?

    hi.. i've used iweb 06 v 1.1.2 to create a small website and blog, with 'add comments' buttons on the blog pages. when i view my website from my own laptop with safari i can see and use the add comments button, but when i view the website from pcs running internet explorer, or from my own or another mac laptop running firefox the add comments buttons are not there. any ideas why this should be and how i can solve it?
    thanks in advance for any help!

    does anyone have any ideas on this one? still can't seem to get comments to work for explorer and firefox/mozilla users although safari is ok.
    thanks!

  • Can't add comments

    I have been having issues with my adding comments part in the blog of my page. I publish to .mac, and have the add comments box checked prior to publishing. When I publish, immediately after, I or other computers can leave comments. After a little bit of time, usually a couple of hours, anyone who tries to leave a comment gets the error message "This entry no longer exists. The entry may have been moved or deleted." Is there some sort of bug I'm hitting? My site is http://www.the-guesses.com if anyone wants to check it out.
    Thanks

    OK, this is really silly (on Apple's part) but I think I know what the problem is.
    Apple allows
    http://web.mac.com/mikeandjenn99/iweb/guesses/
    OR
    http://web.mac.com/mikeandjenn99/iWeb/guesses/
    to redirect to your site (notice the W/w in iWeb/iweb)
    HOWEVER, only with the capital W will your blog work!
    Try to enter a comment here
    http://web.mac.com/mikeandjenn99/iWeb/guesses/Blog/05BD4380-1535-4DEA-BE14-963EA AB6CB0B.html
    vs here
    http://web.mac.com/mikeandjenn99/iweb/guesses/Blog/05BD4380-1535-4DEA-BE14-963EA AB6CB0B.html
    So the solution is to make sure your http://www.the-guesses.com redirects to your site WITH a capital W!
    Hope that helps!

    Silviu!
    I'm really sorry, but as all the office is trying to fix the problem, someone replaced the url content with the stuff that was pointing to the local machine.
    I've fix it, and the video player is available here again: http://pp.player.webtv.flumotion.com/params/apiKey/5PzLR2ULL3z2rumJ/videoId/60
    If there are other references to the localhost, please do not bother with them, as they do not affect player functionality.
    The stream that it uses is an RTMPE, so i'm afraid it will only works with this player. Anyway, the stream url is as follows: rtmpe://87.248.205.81/a4349/e2/veo7/ondemandrtmpe/mp4/med/first-person-mario-4d8741aa.mp4
    I really appreciate your help!

  • Iweb blog comments

    Hi people,
    Could somebody help me?
    i have published my site at www.dubkasm.com and used a blog page as a comments book, only when i publish the site there is no section like 'add comment' or 'post message'. How can i do this? Any help much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Ben (Brazil)

    Try searching the forum as this has been covered before.
    As far as I can remeber Blog comments created through iWeb are stored server side on .Mac somewhere, so exporting your site to another domain, other than .Mac, will make comments inactive.

  • IWeb08 "Add Comments" and Format Problems

    Morning!
    I've been having problems with getting "Add Comments" to appear when publishing my site. I've read that iWeb08 folks get problems when publishing a non-Mobile Me site. All of the solutions I've googled seem to be outdated, such as signing up for "Haloscan," which seems to not exist anymore. I was wondering if anyone had any remedies?
    Also, for whatever reason the spacing seems to get slightly messed up upon publishing. Notice on this post: http://healthydayfitness.com/Blog/Entries/2011/2/14FirstPost.html that the title and date are "scrunched up" with the text.
    This post: http://healthydayfitness.com/Blog/Entries/2011/2/14Cleveland_Clients_%26_We_Run_ThisCity.html cuts the email address off of the bottom.
    I've double checked my iWeb work, and it looks perfect there. I've tried deleting and re-uploading several times to no avail.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!
    Joe B

    Joe ~ If you're not publishing to MobileMe, an alternative to Haloscan is suggested here:
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebFeedbackComments.html
    But as problems with iWeb's blog are a constant theme on these forums, it's often recommended to use a dedicated blogging platform instead of iWeb's, e.g.

    http://wordpress.com
