Do you mean that you can't open iPhoto or iWeb or that you simply can't access the MobileMe account (which fully came to an end on June 30th)?
I'm confused - you were aware that MobileMe was coming to an end? You should have backed up your data... too late now. I just got messages that MobileMe was no longer available so I deleted those accounts. Have no idea why iWeb and iPhoto won't open, though.

  • IPhoto quits constantly - already tried deleting plist file

    Hello-
I am having a similar problem to some of the others on this forum. Whenever I use iPhoto, it quits randomly (and by now, quite expectedly). I can't seem to get more than 5 minutes out of using the program. I already tried the suggested fix of deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file (twice!) but that didn't solve the problem. I'm not running any simultaneous programs, and my iPhoto software is up to date (for version 5). Any other suggestions?
    thanks!

    Gwen
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Photoshop, lightroom and aperture quit constantly

    hello.
i am a full time photographer now. my macpro is a big part of my business. sometimes i shoot small numbers of photos and can get away with editing one or 2 at a time. other times, like now, i HAVE to edit multiple photos at a single time.
as such, i open 70 3-4mb photos at the same time to run through them quickly and edit them and then save them as i have for a long time on my PC, and photoshop quits. i can be in the middle of editing ONE photo and photoshop quits. if i open bridge, it quits when entering a folder with a large number of files, or a small number... it is sporadic.
i have enclosed a copy of the console log.
i have done all of the following:
    1. reset the pram
    2. none of my programs are from a PPC, only my .jpegs and.cr2's have been touched by a PPC
    3. i have replaced my main hard drive with a raptor
    4. i zeroed out the entire hard drive and reinstalled the OS three times now.
    5. i have reset the PMU
    6. I have gone to the apple store and they told me that leopard will fix this or cs3...
    7. i installed the legitimate copy of the CS3 Beta and it does the exact same thing under the same conditions.
    8. i have a 150GB Raptor, with about 30GB filled up
    9. i have 4 GB of Apple installed RAM
    10. i have no "version cue" running in cs2
i have tried the same things on my little MacBook and it NEVER does this. anyone with some experience in working with photoshop would be a welcome help. the console log from macpro is as follows:
Adobe Photoshop CS2(213,0xa000eca8) malloc: * set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug
    Adobe Photoshop CS2(213,0xa000eca8) malloc: * vm_allocate(size=139264) failed (error code=3)

so, i went to the apple store tonight and a different genius talked to me and tried to tell me how he ran a whole bunch of processor intensive things on the machine to get it to crash and it didn't.
i answered him pretty straight forward since he is the one who told me there is nothing wrong with it to begin with... i told him "i didn't buy the machine for final cut or any other stuff. i bought it to run Photoshop, and it doesn't. i demonstrated the error repeatedly to the genius i dropped it off with... over and over again. copied the panic files and crash logs, like you told me to, i reformatted the thing and it is doing it again, and now you're trying to tell me there is nothing wrong with the machine? AGAIN? go get the thing and i will show you too and then you can try to fix it..."
then he tried to tell me that my raptor was the problem because he swapped out the hard drive with a crappy one from the sales floor... to which i asked him if he tried to do what i showed them which was causing the problem... and the answer was no. followed by, "but..." and so here i am, now at the point of being vehemently upset - AGAIN.
to be honest, i don't want another replacement machine. i just want the thing to work. i paid $1500+ for photoshop, so it's not like i am trying to run pirated software or any BS like that. if i can't run photoshop on this MAC, then i guess they'll have no choice but to give me another one.
if i wasn't able to reliably duplicate the issue, then i could see why he would try to question me or my methods. but i DID demonstrate it to them reliably. same thing, same situation, same result EACH TIME. all i want is to run photoshop. now i am sure they are going to try to tell me how my raptor is the problem? and that they can run other programs on it???? that is a great big steaming pile of BULLOCKS!!!
no one else seems to have this issue, and i am doing this for a living, not as a hobby anymore, so i kind of need my machine...

  • Replacing hard drive ... can I save my iWeb and iPhoto folders?

Hi, I'm giving in my MacBook Pro for repair tomorrow. Is it possible to save what I have in my iWeb to transfer over to a new hard drive as well as my iPhoto folders?

Is your Macbook going in for repair because the HD is broken?
Then it is not possible to get back your file's If the HD is damaged and doesn't work, then you can't get your file's back easy. There are some company's who can do this, but those costs a enormous lot off money!
Is the HD is going to be replace for a bigger or faster drive?
Yes, then you can put the HD in a external encosure. This will make it possible to acces the disk with the USB or FireWire port on your Mac.
This is a nice and cheap enclosure:
    http://www.cooldrives.com/usbesal2hadr1.html
You can always try to put a broken HD in such a enclosure. Sometime's you are really lucky and can still get back the file's.
Always have a back-up off your important Data!
Hopefully this is helpfull or solved your problem. Consider rewarding some points!

  • I installed fresh Windows 7 and drivers for my PC hardware, after that I installed Mozilla Firefox 3.6. And I'm constantly getting this error "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." I'm even getting that on this website.

I've only updated java and adobe flash player. So there is no extensions or anything, just fresh system and fresh browser installed. In error console it says next for example: "Error: Permission denied for <http://media.livepromotools.com> to call method Location.toString on ...any website..." And at this website it says this script is unresponsive when promt pops out: "Script: http://mozcom-cdn.mozilla.net/includes/min/min.js?g=js:36" or this one "Script: https://support.mozilla.com/media/js/common-min.js?build=3fabbc0:16" I've even reinstalled Windows, and same thing happens again :( Please help

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • IPhoto quits when I try to make a slideshow with music

IPhoto quits constantly when I try to make a slideshow with music from my Itunes library. I've tried creating a new, separate library with no luck. I'm running mavericks with iPhoto 9.5.1. Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any other options on a mac to make a simple slide show? This is a pretty simple thing. Although iPhoto's always been really slow the past couple of years, the fact that my mac is incapable of doing it is beyond disappointing.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,
do you have enough free disk space? rendering slideshows needs plenty of free space, or the system may have problems.
When exactly is iPhoto crashing? When you play the slideshow? When you add the music? When you render the slideshow as a video?
You have tried a new library, but have you tried differnet music?
And tried if you are having the same problem from a different user account?

  • Iphoto quits at startup.

I synced my iphone to my Mac. Running low on space and iPhoto quit. I have the latest OS (not Mavericks) and the latest iPhoto.
Now I rebooted twice and iPhoto still terminates at startup.

OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do. You do still do not have enough free sapce on that disk.
It's likely that your Library was damaged from trying to run it on an overcrowded disk.
Do you have  a back up?

  • .mac and iPhoto Publishing

Recently I subscribed a .mac trial account because I wanted to try iWeb and iPhoto 6 Photocasting.
When I publish a webpage from iWeb to .Mac, it'll pop up the login window, asking me to login. I clicked the login button and i typed my .mac account information. I tried to publish again and the same thing happens (.Mac account said my password is valid)
When I select an album and share by photocasting in iPhoto, it says I haven't set up my account (again, I input info. in my .mac settings already).
What's going on? Trial account won't work with iLife?
But I can use my iDisk... that's so weird...
    What's wrong?
    GummyDancer
(I posted this in both iWeb, iPhoto and .Mac sections. Posted on .Mac section about 2 weeks ago)

This may not be the right way to do it but I have a solution that works for me. I've had a little trouble trying to describe it; but the essential aspect is that the 2 calendars are actually calendar groups which have sub-calendars which are unique to them and there is one calendar which is 'shared' between them. To publish them I drag the shared calendar to the calendar group that I want to publish, click the button and when it's finished I drag it to the other one and then publish that. This enables both calendars to appear with the shared info without the need for double entries.

  • How can I keep Firefox from saving my my last visited websites, even after I log out and Force Quit?

I quit and Force Quit Firefox when I log out of my MacBook Pro. Lately when I re-start Firefox, it has saved my last few visited websites and asks me if I'd like to restore these, or quit. How can I get Firefox to stop saving these sites and really quit?

hello, this is currently a problem in firefox when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

  • IWeb and Aperture: any updates since October?

I've shared the difficulties that others have discussed in getting Aperture, iWeb and iPhoto to play nice together.
I use Aperature now because I have so many photos, and I was having to rebuild my iPhoto cache every day (to the tune of 15-30 minutes), plus I want versioning and better organizational stuff, etc. I distinctly remember hearing in the promo material that Aperture was going to be seamless with iWeb, and it was the main reason I decided to take the leap.
I'm wondering if anyone has made any progress of getting these two apps to talk better to each other? And does Aperture automatically update iPhoto with versions? How do you import additional iPhoto images into Aperture without having to re-import the entire library? Any word from Apple?
    Thanks,

    Aloha G,
Thanks, and since you asked, here's my usual workflow:
I am a digital painter, which means I use digital photos to provide the pixels that I paint with, using primarily Corel Painter.
I shoot photos and import them into iPhoto for cropping and minor color fixes. I then export the photos to Painter. That means I copy them to the desktop folder that I use to collect all the bits and pieces that will be part of the painting. (That might be a Projects Folder in Aperture).
I then proceed to produce between 5-15 versions of my painting, doing incremental saves. These are full sized files.
When I finish a painting, I export it back to iPhoto as a full sized JPG.
Then I export from iPhoto AGAIN to get a smaller, low-rez file to my project folder on the desktop. I have not figured out how to make a low-rez duplicate in iPhoto without exporting and importing.
I then re-import the smaller file back into iPhoto, and put it in an album with other low-rez paintings, ready to go into iWeb and onto my web site.
I may have to also generate other full size versions to print my paintings in standard sizes -- 5x7, 8x10, etc.
Average file sizes are in the 5-50MB range, though they can get larger.
In my dream world, here's what I'd like:
I'd like to be able to import into a photo handling program. I'd like to edit the photos in Painter directly from iPhoto (which I can do, but iterative save means I save the iterations...where?) Painter complains that Aperture's files are not in a format it can use. I don't see anywhere in Aperture's Preferences to change the way the files are exported for an outside editor.
I'd like the photo program to allow me to do versioning (which Aperture does nicely; iPhoto does not), so I can print whatever sizes I need. I also want the photos to be push-button connected to iWeb because I have already invested a lot of time in creating an iWeb site.
I'd like not to have to create full-size duplicates because of storage issues.
And, now, I have a new problem since the previous post. I currently have Aperture referencing my iPhoto library.
I'm thinking that I will just wait for Aperture to resolve what seem like fairly easy fixes. Meanwhile, I thought I would hand-split my iPhoto library into smaller individual libraries to reduce the cache load. BUT, when I tried to export my iPhotos into smaller libraries, I cannot do it. I cannot drag a photo to the desktop now.
Is that because Aperture is now managing the photos?
    Thanks for all your help...

  • Clean install of Mavericks with backup of iTunes and iPhoto on partitioned half of HD

Recently my Macbook pro has been running into the spinning beachball more and more often. In order to figure out wether this is a hardwear or software issue I want to clean install Mavericks and whipe the drive. Only issue with this is I dont have any external hard drive for a iTunes or iPhoto backup so I was wondering if it would be possible to create a partion on my 500gb internal drive where I could store my iTunes and iPhoto libraries. Is this possible? If so how risky?

Sure it's possible and it's not risky. Use Disk Utility and resize your current single partition which give you free space. Then click the '+' sign to turn that free space into a partition. Click Apply.

Hi, I was importing pictures into iPhoto from my sd card and suddenly iPhoto quit.  Now it just won't open.  When I click on the iphoto icon in the dock, nothing happens!  Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it does then your current library has been damaged and should be repaired: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Do I need to point iPhoto to this new location?
    Thanks!

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
    Assuming a Managed Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
