IWeb and Web Gallery

what is the difference between iWeb and WebGallery in iphoto. I am getting ready to revamp my old mac website and don't want to mess it all up.
Can I use them both together???

iWeb is an application for building websites.
A web gallery published from iPhoto is purely for publishing photos.
You can link to a web gallery from your iWeb built website or use the web gallery widget in iWeb to do this.

  • Can I link iWeb and Web Gallery so Web Gallery appears as part of iWeb?

Anyone know how to link iWeb to Web Gallery so the latter appears to be part of the former? Apple seems to have set them up to be separate things.

In iWeb click on the Web Widgets button at the bottom of the iWeb main window.
In the drop down list you can select Mac Gallery, from here you can insert an item directly from one of you .Mac Gallery contents.

  • How to break link between iWeb and web gallery?

I have created an external webpage with the use of iWeb, and I have inserted the photos widget through the web gallery which sits on my personal .Mac account (ie. different to the external website which has an independent - no mac - .com address)
I would like people to view the picture widget on the external website (a business website) I have created, but I do not want them to click on it and then be directed to my home web gallery. Basically I just want them to be able to see the rolling pictures, but nothing more.
Does anyone know how to avoid this link from working?

    Hi Kodi,
As far as I know, the object link to material is part of SAP standard customer delivery. Then there is really small customer settings you have to maitain, actually the fields Destination and Web server, as the SAP never knows the name of the system, which customer will use.
Or you talk about others than the 0PLANTMATERIAL, 0PLANTMAT_LONG. If you create new object link type, the install guide  'Collaboration Projects (cProjects): Guide Impl. Object Link ' in the https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/plm-inst should give you detailded information.

  • Iweb and web galleries?

i need to use a password protected program to host online albums for clients through my website. 1) i have no idea how to do this and 2) where to get it... my website is hosted through godaddy.com but is created through iweb.
    - i have been told simple viewer and web gallery wizzard (although i dont know if thats PC only) but im not sure how either works effectively - and/or how to plug them into my website
anyone have any suggestions or links to help?
    thanks in advance..

You can create a password protected site with a photo gallery and slideshow with iWeb. If you need more than one site, you can create additional sites, each password protected separately in iWeb.
If you decide to create multiple sites that way you might want to coinsider using iWebSites. One way to handle multiple sites is to use iWebSites. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files. If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • Slide Shows in iLife, iPhoto, iWeb  '08 and Web Gallery

I have iLife '08 abd thus iWeb '08 and developed my website in 2006 using iWeb '06. I also belong to .Mac and therefore have access to that Web Gallery or .Mac Gallery (unsure which name it has). I like the newer slide shows/carousels that are newly available and would like to know whether I can make such slide shows and place such slide shows in my iWeb website.
I realize that another alternative is to make a slide show and put it in the Web Gallery and access it in my website via a URL pointing to the slidehow.
Is it true that ALL OF THE VARIATIONS OF SLIDE SHOWS are created in iPhoto '08? If so, then I guess if I make the slideshows there, I can decide where I want to place them (in my website or in Web Gallery).

Go to web gallery, find out the album ID that you need to delete.
    iDisk -> Web -> Sites -> _gallery
Delete the album ID of the albums that arn't in iphoto.
    Then resync the albums missing.

  • IWeb and MobileMe Gallery

I am trying to upload pictures from the MobileMe Gallery.  I have albums published but when I move the MobileMe widget to the web page I am creating it reads "No albums or movies". Please help.

I've jumpstarted the MMe widget with the following 2 fixes before:
    Try this:
    quit iWeb
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
    launch iWeb and try again.
Ahother method that worked one time was:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
HOWEVER, a way to embed your MMe gallery and not worry about fixes is to go online and get the URL of your MMe gallery and plug it into the following code in an HTML snippet:
    <script src="http://gallery.mac.com/g/flash/photowidget_iefix.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    writeObj("http://gallery.me.com/MobileMeName/XXXXXX", 226, 199);
    </script>
Thanks to Wyodor for the code.

  • IPhone problem with iPhoto 08 and Web Gallery 08

I have created web photo galleries in iPhoto 08. Then I have opened iWeb08 and created a page an added a web gallery widget for each of the galleries on this page, everything works fine. Now I fire up the iPhone and go to my iWeb page where the widgets are located.
The problem is the web gallery widget appears on the iPhone screen as a blue cube with a question mark on two sides and some round grey circles on top. I can not access the galleries from iPhone. Are these cubes a representation for some program that the iPhone can't open? Any help is appreciated.

I'd post your question in the iPhone forum because it seems to be an iPhone issue rather than an iPhoto one.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto 08 and Web Gallery are out of sync.

I used iphoto to upload 3 events to web gallery last night, and left it go over night. I selected the first event, and clicked on web gallery and it started to upload. I then clicked on another one while the first was uploading and did the same. Both events were listed in web gallery, one was syncing in progress, the other just had a spinning sync icon. I then added a 3rd event to the list to sync, which appeared under web gallery as expected, so I went to bed.
I woke up this morning and iPhoto exited. I checked my web gallery and found the 1st web gallery I synced was fine. The 2nd gallery existed, but contained both the 2nd and 3rd events. I then loaded iPhoto and it has no entry for the 2nd album in web galleries. So now I have an album on gallery.mac.com that I cannot control from iPhoto (including deleting).
Anyone have any ideas on what to do? I submitted a feedback form for iphoto, but it says don't hold my breath on a response. So I'm hoping someone here can help me.
There are 61 photos in the album I cannot control.
    Regards
    Simon

  • Iphoto 6 and web gallery question

I'm a newbie, so please excuse me if this sounds stupid. I have iphoto 6 and have successfully made photo pages, but I can't figure out how to start a web gallery. (I want other people to be able to upload their photos.) I've tried looking at tutorials & stuff but they all have to do with iphoto '08. Am I just blind? I haven't subscribed yet to .mac, I'm still in the trial, does that make a difference? I'd appreciate any help,

I was referring to the customer reviews of ilife '08 on the Apple website. You're right though, most of the negativity was regarding iMovie 7, and the majority of the iPhoto complaints were about their current published photo pages being "all messed up". That doesn't bother me so much because I want to start over with a new web gallery anyway. Also, a guy I talked to said that he was having trouble with iPhoto 7 and his photoshop work. (Like I said, I'm new to this, so my feeble brain lost the exact terminology he used.) I think I will trust what you say though and go ahead and buy it just because it looks so **** pretty. Thank you for your help!

  • Scheduling of Iphoto and Web Gallery Uploads

    Hi,
Does anyone know if there is an app or built in functionality in iPhoto that allows one to schedule when photos can be uploaded to the MobileMe web gallery? I don't want to do this whilst I'm working on my PC and will rather tell it what to upload and then schedule the upload for later the evening when I don't use my Mac ...
    Any ideas .. ?
    Thank you,
    E

There is not - you can suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
For now just do your gallery changes last thing before you quit for the evening

  • Image processor and web gallery untagging sRGB profiles

When I image process a batch of files (mixture of raws and psds) the resulting files have an untagged RGB colour space even though the 'convert to sRGB' is ticked in the processor dialogue. This also happens to my images when I create a web gallery, even when I start the script using sRGB profiled jpegs in the first place. Any suggestions as to why this is happening? Thanks, Matt

I am slightly confused by what you said...
without exporting the photos separate first.
Do you mean change to sRGB while still in Aperture? The answer would be no. The images get changed to sRGB on export. However, you do not have to export the images separately from the gallery. When you create the gallery, the images and html get created all together. So, what you do is change the export presets you are using for the web to have sRGB in the color space profile.

  • Aperture 2, Stacks and Web Gallery

I have had so many issues with this lately. I shot photos today, picked my favorites and created a web gallery. I then ordered my 40 photos in the web gallery in a very specific order to tell a story.
1st I noticed that the order sorted some how and I lost my custom sort. So I reordered it into a specific order.
Then I was working with stacks. I wanted to organize the rest of the photos in the project to find others that I missed before and to promote images to find better picks.
Then I noticed the Web Gallery would then automatically add all images in the stack next to the single photo in the Web Gallery.
2nd. My web gallery has hundreds of photos, mostly ones that I did not want displayed. Also my custom order was lost and I once again had to try to reorganize.
To make what could be a longer story short, I had to break all the stacks that I spent time on in order to remove the unwanted photos from the web gallery.
Are we forced to make a choice between using Stacks and Web Galleries? Can they NEVER be used together?

After much frustration and time looking at this issue, and reading this topic in forums, discussions and the Aperture User Manual (pg. 562 - 567) - for which there is no clear explanation of this - You can only use the stack pick in the Web Gallery.
    Exactly!
Which means : If you want maximum flexibility in creating Web Galleries, DO NOT use stacks.
I suppose this depends on what you are using stacks for. If you are grouping images in stacks that you want to use, you can certainly do that, but that will be problematic in Aperture in places other than gallery, because that is simply not what stacks are designed to do. If you have several shots so similar you will only use one, but don't want to throw the rest away (you might change your mind later) put them in a stack. Makes it easy to compare and "pick" which one to output. If you have a number of photos that are roughly similar, but you will be using more than one - you can initially stack them, but will probably be better off splitting the stack later. Say I am shooting sports and get a high-speed sequence of a breakaway. I could put the whole sequence in a stack initially, but some of those images are different enough that I might want to publish two or three (out of, say, 15 shots). I might get them all in one stack through auto stack, or even manually stack them initially, but I will probably set one pick and extract a few others. The alternates will be there in case I find a use for them later. Same thing with portraiture. When shooting portraits, I can get a lot of almost identical images - with small nuances in facial expression being the only difference. Another kind of stacking I often do is when I create new versions from the master and make color and exposure adjustments.
What happens to the thousands of stacks that people have already created in Aperture and would like to simply get photographs online? You must rework your entire organization (if you use stacks) to accommodate this inconsistency.
I think Aperture is actually pretty consistent regarding stacks and alternates. Alternates are ignored if you try to create a web journal, web gallery, web page, or a book. I see no problem getting them online - the picks will display, extract alternates if you want them to display also.
And to further complicate a situation, when you select one photograph in a stack, and create a 'Web Gallery', once created, every photograph in that stack is put into the 'Web Gallery'
In other words, there is no 'Ignore Stack Groupings' option in Web Galleries and since Picks can be anywhere in the stack - this creates an organizational nightmare.
Yes, if you try to drag a single image to another project or album, the rest of the stack comes along for the ride. I know this bugs you, but I actually like the way it works. Where you see this as inconsistent - I see it being very consistent. If I create a stack - that stack is identical in all locations. I can change the pick for different albums, but if i alter a stack in any other way - it is changed everywhere. This doesn't take up an real space on your computer - it is all just referencing back to the master images anyway. If seeing all those alternates in the stack bother you, just close the stack By the way, your pick cannot be "anywhere in a stack" - the pick is always on top. Your "album pick" can be anywhere in a stack, but close the stack and the album pick is what you will see.
Maybe you would do better using albums for the kind of organization you are doing - it sounds to me like you are using stacks kind of like albums anyway. Just select a stack and "create album from selection." Then you can unstack your stacks and work with albums instead. Then when you drag an image to a web gallery you won't get alternates.
But leave the stacks the way they are please - I love them just the way they are

  • How does deleting photos off of HD affect iWeb & Web Gallery

    Hello,
My MacBook is getting filled with photos. I have already used Time Machine to back them up to an external hard drive, and I am getting ready to delete them from my HD. Here is my concern:
Once I delete the photos from my HD, will they disappear from iWeb and Web Gallery?
I believe so, but would like confirmation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you delete a photo out of iPhoto that is in a MobileMe gallery create by iPhoto it will be deleted from the online gallery if you every sync the gallery again. These galleries are the most susceptible to loss of photos. So if you have any iPhoto MMe galleries I would not delete those photos from iPhoto.
If you create a web gallery within iWeb the photos used are included in the files that are uploaded to the iWeb site so you can delete them out of iPhoto and off the hard drive.

  • Pictures that are edited are not updated to iweb/web gallery..uses original

Need some help...when i edit a picture and save it to iphoto, the new picture will not upload to iweb or web gallery.. it uses the original picture. Any ideas how to solve this issue?!
    thanks

Try delete the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder.
    Also, Download BatchMod from
    http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iPhoto Library using the settings found here:

  • Can you post Web-Gallery to a non .Mac server?

iPhoto 08 and web gallery look pretty neat.
Do you have to post the Web Galleries to .Mac or can you use a different server.
Would like to continue post our college sports photos to our campus (OS X) server using web-gallery.

Jack, I don't think you can post web galleries to a non .Mac server. There seems to be a lot of support behind the scenes that makes Web Gallery work as it does. Normal HTML doesn't work like that.
What you could do, which would bring some of the reflections-on-black look, is send the photos to iWeb and use the export HTML option (not sure what it's called) in the File menu to create a gallery that you could host on a non-.Mac server. It wouldn't look exactly the same but you'd get whatever is possible without the .Mac-supplied functionality.
