IWeb Archive slow to load in browser

My readers have complained that it takes a long time to access my iWeb archive when they click on the Archive button. Some of them use Safari, others IE on Windows.
Anyone know how to improve the loading time? My pages have at least one photo each but that should not affect the loading time of the archive right since only the first few lines of text are displayed.

You must be talking about the main blog summary page...the one that has a preview photo and a little excerpt of text. The real Archive page that lists all of your entries only has text...no images and only the titles of your entries.
With regard to you blog summary page, there is not a whole lot of control you have. Make sure that you haven't placed a really large (in file size) image in the header. If you adjust the number of entries shown, you can cut down on the load time as well. Usually, people don't have more than 5-10 entries shown on the main blog summary page. The rest of the entries fall off to the Archive page.
You can adjust the number of entries shown by opening the Inspector and clicking on the RSS tab. You can adjust the number of entries as well as the amount of preview text.

  • Embedded SWF very slow to load in browser

I have placed a swf slide show in Flash catalyst about 500k the problem is when I playback in the browser the embedded swf file displays long after the rest of the website has loaded and built. It works fine after I refresh and the file is loaded in the Cache.. but makes for a poor user experience when viewing for the first time, First impressions count.
If I place the 500k swf in Dreamweaver it loads almost instantly from the remote server.
For some reason Flash catalyst has a difficult time decoding and playing.
The flash file was built in CS5 default settings.
Any help on having the swf load first or process faster would be great.
I know that file size is a issue but 500k is not that much.
    Heres the url.

  • Major performance issue: AIR browser is slow to load AJAX app & kills CPU

    Hello,
This issue for so long. I tried to submit a ticket that was erased.
Here's someone else talking about that topic: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3896291#3896291
My question - Is there a solution ahead or I have to wait patiently that all my clients uninstall the application?

The bug referenced in that thread, AIR browser is slow to load AJAX app, is still open/to track.  Based off the notes from Jian on Nov 6th, we've been able to reproduce the issue but it does not have enough votes to qualify for our current releases.  We need additional users to cast their votes that this is impacting their applications.
There is a note on November 11th, that suggests that removing inset box shadows can resolve this issue in some cases.  This is most likely similar to other known bugs where -webkit-box-shadow impacts performance on Windows.  All cases have been deferred at this time as the solution is not trivial to address (I've personally entered this bug at least twice.)

  • Web pages loading unusually slow. Load fine in alt browser

Web pages on numerous sites very slow to load. Even coming to Firefox to report. Including some pages coming up error as if there is no connection. I tried alternative browser and the pages load fine. I could have stayed on that browser but ff has always been my goto.
    I have a nexus 7 (suppose I should say 1st gen now) running 4.3.

There are some problems with the new Android version (4.3), they should be fixed very soon (12-24 weeks), there is a solution, use firefox nightly, the superbeta version of firefox 26.
    DOWNLOAD FROM: nightly.mozilla.org
    Does the nightly work better?

  • Browser(s) slow to load

    Hi There,
this seems to be an isolated problem on my machine. Other machines on my network seem fine.
Both Safari and Firefox are agonisingly slow to load some pages. Most notably Facebook and Youtube
Is there a way to clear a global cache? or firewall? or something?....
It wasn't always like this. I've repaired permissions, and restarted and all the usual things countless times. My system software is up to date.
    Thanks in advance,
    Charles

  • Mac seems slow to load  web pages and email since mavericks upgrade

Since upgrade from Mountain Lion to Mavericks on my iMac, web pages seem a lot slower to load on screen. Also, when I open my mail inbox, the mail content (wording) takes a long time before appearing on the right hand side, then followed a little later with the display content. I have synchronised all my mail accounts and also emptied my cache in the safari browser, but this has not resolved the problem.

Go to Applications (you can do this by clicking on the desktop and hitting cmd-shift-A). Within the Utilities folder you should see a program called Terminal. Launch this program, which should just be a window that you can type into. Type the following (or just copy and paste into the window) and hit return:
         networksetup -setv6off Wi-fi
Then go back to Network Preferences and verify that IPv6 is set to off. If that doesn't help, enter these two commands in succession:
         cd /Library/Preferences/
         sudo mv com.apple.security-common.plist ~/Desktop/
Note that this moves a configuration file onto your desktop. If that doesn't fix things you may want to put it back:
         cd /Library/Preferences/
         sudo mv ~/Desktop/com.apple.security-common.plist .
    Good luck!

  • Pages are slow to load or stop loading

Once I'm connected to wi-fi, my pages are slow to load or stop loading and tell me 'I'm not connected".

If you are having the problem on more than one computer it would appear not to be a computer fault or your browser that is the problem.
The first thing I would do is a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. This can often sort out problems and will also give you a "clean sheet" to start some diagnostics from.
If this doesn't help please post what Infinity package you are on, I assume with 18Mbps it's Infinity 1 but please confirm, and do you have an Openreach modem and what homehub you have.
Also run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results
    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
and use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

  • MacBook Pro, Mid 2012 slow to load applications and startup

    Problem description:
I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch, mid 2012 computer. Over the past months it has become increasingly slower during load up, and application loads.
    Running OS X Yosemite
Processor: 2.9 GHz, Intel Core i7
    Memory 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
I installed an application Memory Clean from the App Store and I need to run it every so often to keep the load down. It shows of the 8GB available, App Memory eating up 3.32 GB, File Cache 2.25 GB, Wired 1.16 GB, Compressed 122.03 MB for used 6.80 GB.
I am considering upping the memory from 8 GB to 16 GB, but think it is something else dragging it down. I am not a total computer newbie, but am no where near a techomage so any advice given if it could be in simple to follow instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any advice given, have a great day.

How to manage intermittent lag in OS X Yosemite | MacIssues
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

  • Slow index loading on mobile devices

Hi, my organisation is trialing the new RH10 multiscreen html 5 output.
Our techincal documentation includes a very large index (7000+ terms).
The index loads fine on a desktop (Chrome/FF -- under 5 seconds and IE8 -- over 10 seconds), however when we try to load the same index on a mobile device, it takes 2-5 minutes.
    Is this a known issue?
Is there a way to fix it?
Suggested fix (if Robo devs are listening):
Create an option that outputs chunked index data in JSON format (currently XML) then parse JSON to the index tree loader for tree generation and search queries.
    Thanks.
Here is the bug report I submitted:
    Concise problem statement:
Very slow index loading (>3 minutes) on large indexes (7000+ terms). Does not seem to cache index data.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
1.Create an index with over 7000 terms.
    2.Generate Mutliscreen HTML5 output.
3.Open Index in mobile browser (Safari/Android)
4.Wait for entire index to finish loading.
    5.Refresh index page.
Results:Very slow loading (>3 minutes). Does not seem to cache index data.
Expected results:Loads in under 1 minute

    Hi,
Is the mobile device connected via WiFi or 3G? What mobile device are you using and have you tried others?
I suspect the sheer size of the index is the problem. Even if it works fast, nn index with 7000 entries is not very usable on a mobile device.

  • Can anyone explain why this site is so slow to load?

Strangely, it pops up fine in Safari but is excruciatingly slow to load in Firefox and IE (with graphics and some of the audio player icons not showing for literally multiple minutes, etc.):
    http://ddjackson.net/D.D.JacksonDemos.html
Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated!
    - D.D.

You may be better served by making a new page for each audio file.
The page loads slowly because each of the 8 MP3's must begin their download before the next page element can be downloaded. They don't have to completely download (just start) and the QuickTime browser plug-in will be used to play them.
Each time your page loads completely you're using over 50MB's of your bandwidth limits. This could become expensive if you have bandwidth pricing.
Consider using just a minute of each MP3 in the QuickTime .mov container with a link to the entire file (as you have now) in MP3 format. Saves bandwidth and speeds up the page load time.

  • My macbook air is so slow at loading web pages

Why is my Macbook Air suddenly so slow at loading web pages?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photo Stream, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Official Safari 4 Release Is Extremely Slow to Load Pages

Just installed the new Safari 4.0 (non-beta). Almost every page I bring up takes considerably longer to load. Graphics and audio are especially slow to load.
Apple just touted how much faster this browser is supposed to be at WWDC. ???
    Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Besides audio and video, pages with multiple images take up to 20 seconds to fully load the graphics.
I originally experienced these issues on a MacBook Pro. Now I just installed on an iMac C2D 2.66GHz and I get the exact same experience.
On Beta 4.0, the same pages loaded in about 2 seconds, even after emptying cache and doing a shift-reload.

  • My email is extremely slow to load from my 4 separate accounts.  One of the accounts goes off line all the time.  It is not a service provider issue.  I think my passwords and ports may be all mixed up because I tried to adjust it myself.  How can I fix?

My email is very slow to load from 4 separate accounts.  I think I messed up ports and SSL when I tried to fix it.  How do I fix this?

    Hello Mary,
    You may have multiple entries.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, more than one entry in Keychain for each in/out entry, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • It is extremely slow to load - very frustrating!!!!!

When first logging on Firefox is very slow to load - If I click the cursor in the web browser bar or in Google I get the phrase 'no response'. At times the page on loading seems to freeze.

    Hi there,
That might occur when you have malware on your computer. Please take a look at this article: [[Is my Firefox problem a result of malware]].
